Cheers to Ian for setting Matt up for success. He is coaching him through this to be better and successful. Shows what type of guy he is.
Just received my March issue of Golf magazine. Don't ask me why it arrived one week after the April issue. Congratulations on being selected the number two clubfitter in North America. Well done!
I truely love you guys video's......I found out how much I enjoy the tech side of golf, and it's a whole bunch....lol. I have always been the grip guy---the shaft replacement and lie guy or just refurb heads for my golfing buddies !! Shame that I'm 66 yrs old now, otherwise I would go the school to learn and open my own shop !! But, I pretty much do most of all of this already and love watching others and how they work.........and you two are excellent for sure......thanks Matt and Ian.....love your professionalism !!
Beautiful swing Ian...nice deliberate takeaway and tempo like Colin Morikawa
Ian's swing is looking so solid right now. More vids with him in the bay please.
You guys have wonderful athletic swings. Much more powerful than 95% of the golfers playing. You’re tweaking your clubs to a fine degree. That’s really cool. But I like others would like to see some 90 to 100 mph driver swing golfers fitted or some older players. I’m 67 and still hit it decent but always wonder if I could be better. I’m sure there are many others like me. Just suggesting. Love what you’re doing.
then again. many of us viewers fit right into ian and matt's swing category....
I'm a right little mizuno fanboy so am absolutely 'stoked' right now that one of you might, and I do say 'might', be putting a running bird headcover in your bag. So happy!!!
Love these videos when you boys switch roles. A hybrid is such a feel club. No chance anything out performed Ian’s hybrid. Not too mention under the gun on the course confidence is everything.
I had the same fitting conclusion when trying to find a new 5wood. I STILL play the original RocketBallz. Still so good. Plus it’s sentimental. Bought it at a PGA Superstore at Augusta in 2012.
I had the same result as well with my original Rocketballz 3 wood in January when I was at TXG. Taylormade Sim was close, but numbers weren't any better so couldn't justify the change...my fitter even agreed there wasn't any point to make a change.
The music drops, Matty and Ian appear and my 4 year old says “That’s my favorite, Ian and Matty!”.
Brian Agee haha ~ yep you and me watching a lot of this channel ~ back catalogue worth looking at
Good on you Brian! Getting kids enthusiastic and engaged is the key to a solid future for this great sport! 👍
I've got the same on and had it since day one , its battered bruised but still love it
I have the same club. So good
“You won’t rip this club out ma cawld, dade, hands.” -Ian Fraser
Loved this video. I just got fit into Tour Exotic hybrid and although I wasn't expecting this brand, I'm hoping the fitting combo turns into what your hybrid is and impossible to knock out of your bag.
I've noticed when you see what's in a tour pros bag, that there's often a club that's quite older excluding the putter. And it usually is a hybrid a 5 wood or something of that sort
I'm sure most everyone has that one club or iron set they just can't part. For me it's almost my whole bag though lol
CG10 wedges, CG1 Black Pearl blades, and F60 Mizuno 4-wood haven't found others that feel quite right
As someone who hits this same hybrid, I have found myself in the same spot. It is so good that I’d be looking to replace it just for the sake of change. The only thing I’ve had is brief periods of time where I get a case of the lefts with it.
I love the look of the Mavrik pro... having watched this it might just be the one to replace my X Hot pro (also very old and trusty).
X2Hot pro just won’t die!!! Great effort Matt - things just got 9 lives.
I already said it in the chat but I wouldn't mind seeing some other member of TXG staff fitting Ian or someone else. I am really curious about the rest of the team.
pretty sure the channel is more Ian and Matt's baby, rather than something to promote the shop and the team. Gotta keep the brand of the channel consistent.
@@northsource7215 I totally get and respect that but since there were some glimpses of other TXG staff members in the past (I think Tour Experience video, a couple videos with Mike and other staff in some older videos) there is no downside. I wouldn't see it as promotion at all.
I’ve got the version before this one X-Hot Pro 18deg. It never stays out of my bag for too long either... is such a good club.
My club speed has dropped a little and I could do with replacing the 4 iron. However I don’t find myself looking for a new hybrid but a matching second hand one. If you ever come across a decent X-Hot Pro 23deg head and want to help a brother out I’d love talk so I can add it too my bag...
I really love the fact that Ian can have the choice of any club but it’s a trusted retro one that is just hit way too well that makes the bag. Enjoyed the video boys. Nice try Matt 👍🏻
So lucky great video keep it up. Getting fitted is a dream
Hybrid fittings are always intriguing. Unlike driver fittings, where a hot face or more aero head shape gives higher head/ball speeds, most people want their hybrids to hit a very specific yardage. So it's funny when a newer hybrid gets a bit more tech, flies 10 yards farther, but then people don't want that. I would love to see TXG build a mega-hybrid for Matty. Lowest loft, longer shaft, proper swing weight. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 300yd hybrid.
When I was going for a new hybrid I found that I spun CLK and a few other models too low for some reason. Ended up in TS2 with a light shaft (72g) that I get much higher ball flight with. Hits my number perfectly and takes away most of my left miss with the B1 setting.
Good video fellas. I have been playing the TS3 hybrid for about a year now. I typically hit long irons pretty well and have never been a fan hybrids before but I really like the TS3.
It’s like my 910H with a Kai’li 80x. I can’t get it out of the bag because it performs so well. I picked up a T-MB 3 iron to use for windy days. Just goes to show that sometimes old can trump the new stuff even as tempting as it is to get a new toy. Equipment is definitely a part of my hobbies and won’t go anywhere.
I mentioned TXG to Kyle Berkshire and he's all in for a video of you guys doing a fitting with him!!
Seriously, do a fitting video with Kyle Berkshire. It will be an instant classic.
I had the x2hot pro 3 hybrid with stiff adila green tour shaft. Greatest hybrid I ever owned
My Fiance just picked up the Sim and loves it. never seen her hit a hybrid better.
Haha no surprise there. I think CLK and AD DI 95X will take the W when you get the shaft in. I think you would really like the UST Recoil Prototype 95F5 if you tried it.
I have the same hybrid, different shaft, and looked at replacing it last year. I couldn't find anything better so changed the grip!
1. Mizuno with AD DI and 4-5 grams toe weight
2. Titleist u500
3. INXS- Don't change for you
4, Great video!
I play the x2hot pro irons and haven't found anything that I like better. Good test guys
I'm still gaming my old 20deg Callaway X2Hot Pro hybrid with Proforce v2 104x just nothing can kick this out of the bag! It's best hybrid ever imo! I've also had the 16 and 23degress in this hybrid I'd mix in sometimes depending on course I was playing!
240 carry on a hybrid is really a solid 3 wood carry for me. Another Great video guys !!!!!!!
I just rewatched the Jetspeed fairway replacement video last night so the timing of this is spot on
there is a little magic in those DI shafts - looking forward to the next attempt
I was very curious to see this video. I have very similar swing characteristics to Ian in speed and delivery, but with my hybrid/driving iron being the only real question in my bag I was planning on a fitting this season. When the time comes, and TXG reopens, I will be coming in for a fitting. Great stuff guys.
I still use an Adams idea hybrid from like 2008. Still plays/looks amazing. Only difference is it’s ALOT lighter than modern hybrids.
Nothing wrong with staying with something that works! I have a Callaway 3 wood with a tour shaft I got at demo day at the range and it's a world beater - from 10 years ago!
I'm the same with my hybrid and my driving iron. I think it's really hard to unseat those utility clubs because of precisely that, they're utility clubs.
They cop so many different uses and shot types that it becomes a trust thing more than anything else.
This was good to watch ,the shaft being shorter had a good effect .Looking forward to the TS3 fitting .
Thumbnail gold - Matt started off looking so happy. I assume it goes as expected 🤣
Excellent job Matt, pretty hard to beat the Callaway''s numbers. Nice to see you guys don't automatically recommend a change.👍
I have the Tour AD DI 95X shaft in my 818h2 hybrid.
I love the combo.
Still watching to see what Ian gets fit into...😀
I still have my hot 2 pros in the bag. Look great and still get it out there.
Can relate; I still play my 10 yo Sonartec hybrid.
Oh snap, I’m here when it starts! Let’s go fellas start my Tuesday off with a bang!
Awesome video guys, love these ones!
That's some great content boys! Love seeing the thoughts behind what you guys are doing and looking for! Pure class as always and thanks for the video!
Said it before, and I will say it again, I love that intro music.
This is a great process to see as you compare new with old. Very impressed with the quality of the thinking and ideas shared with us regarding improving your golf. I'm pleased to see how a good fit will last over an extended period of time. Personally, I have an hybrid that is 15 years old and wouldn't swap it for anything, have changed the shaft but that's all. Thanks for all the videos you create. By the way, what are the shoes Ian's wearing, very stylish!!!
If Ian loves the DI in the hybrid im shocked you did not have him try the IZ. SImilar profile just a tad more firm in other areas. I think he would love that with the Mizuno head. But hey.... his hybrid performs and in terms of AoA thats something that could be worked on with his practice if anything. Quality video! Love these
The first gen matte black Apex Hybrid is the only thing I have found that’s better than the X2 Hot Pro for me. My miss is left and it works well.
You guys take golf to a different place. Hope I don't ever have to play against guys that get fit by you. Great stuff!
The mizuno head with the shorter shaft would’ve been my pick but then he hits his well. The more swings the more chance of error do to fatigue. Good video.
Thumbs down guy must have nothing to do but watch this great channel again 😂
a vid must be truly truly awful to get a thumbs down and not just a click away to something else, I just don't get how you could thumbs down this vid 🤣
I really enjoy watching your videos
Keep up the great work guys 👍
HZRDUS Red 105 is another shaft worth checking out. Plenty heavy, but a bit more ballspeed over the gost for me.
I have the same hybrid in the bag and it just realized what a sad existence it is living!
Matt you dropped the ball, no nickname? 😎😎
Ian your shots with the Mizuno were fantastic.... so jealous 👋
GReat fitting guys ! Would’ve like to see the Ping 410+ Hybrid in the mix
Ian Fraser was tested positive today for COVID19, on medication and these great videos are truly amazing and keeping my spirits up !!
I WAS WONDERING why the Titleist wasn't in the test! Especially, since Ian has repeatedly said he thinks its the best hybrid on the market!
... AND the answer showed up at the very, very end of the video.
I love that shaft and won't switch it for anything! For those of us for whom it is a good fit...it's magic! . Also, I might add, it's very hard to pry out of our hands!
My Hybrid:
Titleist 21° 818H2 A4(20°), with Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 95 X Shaft
You guys need to wait till you get Ian's shaft and the TS3 adapter before trying again! ! ! !
It might just be the magic combo to retire his old Hybreedo!
:0)
Great try Matt. But you just can’t beat Graphite Design Tour AD shafts!!! They’re not a very well know Shaft here in the U.K. Would like to see you guys do a video on their Driver Shafts. 👍👍👍
You can check the video Ian , when you bring your club back a bit lower, not bringing up early, you have better swing and strike. All the best.
Maybe a gost shaft in the sim head? You seemed very straight with the sim. Or AD orange shaft in the sim. Good to see Ian hitting it though 👍🏻⛳️
I still game that hybrid, its a rocket ship! so good.
I recently got a g410 19 with a stock shaft to try. I absolutely love it. Hybritos 👋🌯
Great Video as usual. Just a thought but maybe in the next try, give him a Taylormade GAPR Low/Mid would work for him? I have a buddy who loves his mid and it looks pretty nice behind the ball. It has a nice compact shape, which sounds like something Ian is looking for. Just a thought, but hope everyone has a great day!
I can’t see me hitting anything better than my XR pro. Also really happy with the Gapr Hi.
If the distance, dispersion, and confidence is there just keep it in the bag. Fun to see Matt try to knock it out of the bag but for a regular customer why even try.
Hey guys I have a video idea. Which is better, an older, stained, slightly scuffed up battered premium golf ball (TP5, Pro V1 etc) or a brand new affordable golf ball. With the current lockdown situation Titleist have stopped manufacturing golf balls so instead of ordering new V1X's I've been using the same one (that I found on the course last fall) for the past handfull of rounds and it's getting pretty old and noticeably worn. Would it be better to just let it go and use one of the dozens of cheaper balls I have in my "Non-playing balls" pocket, or keep using the old V1X, could be interesting!
I play the Cobra F7 hybrids which solved the problem of ballooning hybrids. You can go high or low easily. I tried the newer versions of Cobra and not needed.
I have the same hybrid and I love it. I just need a new shaft for it
Love to see Ian try the Calloway super hybrid.
Fascinating process to watch, gents. Like Bill Gates sticking with Windows XP... Looking forward to a hybrid/long iron/driving iron fit myself once normality resumes. ⛳️
Ian definitely gets the award for best dressed fitter on UA-cam
Good effort Matty
I'd love to test that Nippon shaft I'm totally fascinated with their products and GOST is super intriguing
next step fairway woods bracket!!! stay safe
'Player 1'?! Thought we were going with 'Scottie Dog'?! Great swing Ian! Nice to see a RH'r, sorry Matt!! lol Surprised you didn't try the G410? Love that hybrid!!
Interesting.....I guess the lesson learned is that if you are confident in your game, and you don't like the session, then stick with what you have.
As a +20 handicapper.....I personally would not have the courage to discard the fitter's work and stick with what I have. Not that I'd feel obligated to go with their recommendation, but as my game is so bad, I'd feel as those they have a better chance at being right than I do.
Live fitting? This is great
Love everything you guys do. Would it be possible to do a review on some of the other launch monitors at affordable prices out there for the average golfer that's couped up in quarantine?
So my prediction for the next hybrido fitting is that Ian will end up in a TS3 with the same shaft that he is currently using.
Let's face it Matty, you were dealt a dud hand there, has anyone ever walked into a fitting at TXG determined not to change their club! I think not!
You should have just put a ribbon on his "Trusty" and given it back to him, wrapped in Whiskers TXG Bucket Hat!!
PS How was Mr Crossfield yesterday,......just asking for a friend?
PPS You do know what a dilemma I face when you release the vid, do I miss a TXG vid (unthinkable) or do I watch something with MC in it (unspeakable)! I haven't felt this conflicted since a girlfriend I REALLY fancied admitted that she was a Liverpool fan (and that was nearly 50 years ago)!!!!!!
I still have a regular x hot hybrid at 19 degrees and I can’t find anything to make me take it out of the bag. I actually tee off with it quiet a bit.
Would you recommend the Callaway Super Hybrid for those of us who want a fairway wood replacement? I like irons and hybrids. I even like driver. Fairway woods though are tough. The problem is I don’t think I have the ball speed to launch it high enough (150s mph with driver, low 120s with 6i).
Some Dude yes definitely, great alternative for people who struggle with FW.
Love this! I have a real interest in hybrids. It was great seeing this. I have a question that I have been wondering about for a while. I used to use a set of Ping G 400 hybrids. I hit well with them and made the mistake of "upgrading" them to G 410 ones. I thought they would be an improved version of the G 400's but I just could not hit the G 410's any near as well. Do you two happen to know of any change in them that might have caused that? I have a feeling you guys might know something about the changes that I am not aware of. Thanks. Anyway it ended well because I ended up with Taylormade M6 /Sim Max hybrids that work well for me now. Loved watching Matt fit Ian for the hybrid here. :)
Love the end lol. Just steps up and pipes the old one and Matty can’t keep it together.
Hard to beat the old AD DI shafts. Still get used at a very high level. Will be good to see Ian try a different head with that shaft. Shame it was "in store".
I wouda tried the Tensei White, maybe the CB from the Tensei Orange was causing the pulls?
I dont see this one coming out of the bag. Ian just has it dialed in so perfectly. But Id be curious to see howd he like the Ben Hogan hybrid. Very classy hybrid, with a lot of tech but also has that player's profile. My brother has a Gapr mid which I personally love. Thats another.
I'm very curious if the exotics pro hybrid will be something that would be a good fit.
The only question i have with this is at around 3 min and 30 seconds you guys discussed that the goal distance was 235 to 240 total distance with stopping power, during this fitting seems you were more in the 250 total distance.
ok, so lets say the goal stays at 235-240 would you let the spin go up to keep the ball under the 250 distance? maybe stay with the Sim? even though it was loosing ball speed but fit with in the original goal?
Great...what a fit (on the original)! 😂😂😂
Sometimes you can’t beat old faithful
The lesson here for Matt is if a customer walks in and hits their hybrid like Ian did, walk them over to the shelf and sell him a custom TXG headcover for it.
I agree, I think it's like they've said before the main strides that companies are now making is just the retention of speed and spin across the face without any large peaks or valleys. Considering Ian's hybrid is only 3-4 years old those strides are minimal.
