Yep. SRV had the fuzz before the wah: not too many people realize this. His signal path was guitar - octavia - fuzz - TS - wah.
LOL! I think most people realize he put the fuzz first. Simple google search will tell you. You aren’t the only one.
2:23 he gets to the point
Wow, what a great sound! Fantastic playing...so much like Stevie!
I'm so glad this video poped up on my recommendation feed. Great tones mate!
Putting the fuzz before the wah works very well for “true bypass” wahs, it doesn’t work very well with “vintage bypass” wahs. So if you like vintage bypass wahs (many pro’s and con’s for either choice) it’s probably not a good idea to put the fuzz first as the tone sucking wah bypass will choke the fuzz.
Awesome tone and playing!!! That right hand technique and all over the controls is crazy!
WOW! What an awesome, informative video! Thank You!
Love that ! Sounds great
Amazing playing as always, also amazing wah sound!
Thanks so much, really appreciate that!
this is freaking awesome man - i've learnt so much from this vid - esp from your killer playing - you have stevie's attack down and probs sound more like him than any other player i've ever heard....i'd always heard stevie used two wah's on Say What but you seem to nail the tone with one....
Sound of mid 80s Stevie is nailed here.
Great playing as usual, Chris. You always find a way top what you’ve done before. It’s a cool trick. I tuned in to see what it was- turns out I’m already doing this! Pedal Pawn fuzzes and Texan Twang before the wah. It gives the wah a vocal sound. I find it to be the best way for me.
That really means the world, thanks so much! That’s awesome to hear 👍🤠
love that outro jam!
Dude, the guitar playing is FIRE! - especially once you really get cooking ❤🔥
Thanks so much Brian, really appreciate that
Nice playing👊💯👍
🎸🔥nice ! ✌🏽
Awesome
Thanks a lot 🤗🎸
Not many people can play SRV like that, keep those videos coming and you will get many subscribers, you deserve that😎
Thanks very much, really appreciate the support
ive the same one chris, amazing stuff. sick plays as usual.
Awesome, cheers mate
Nice trick, but now I have to tear my pedal board apart again! Cheers mate. Loved the playing as ever.
😂😂 Thanks as always mate!
Awesome! I’m gonna try this with my twang!
Wooo!! 🤠
Subtitle on and it says: "Oh...wow...tonight" while you were playing. Must be a very VOCAL pedal you got there ;-) I'm not a huge fan of Fuzz before Wah, but if you wanna go the vintage route without buffers etc. that might be the only way, if you want vocal sweep. I think Jimi's Wah had a 10k output mod so it kinda worked with the Fuzz after it, but still not the sweep you get with the Fuzz before the Wah.
Screw the pedals. Your playing is amazing!
Another trick is to plug in backwards. You’ll get Sea Gulls sounds like on the Experience album. My favorite Wah is the Colour Sound brand. Can’t find one. Way cool playing by the way. I’ll try Fuzz-Wah with the volume down.
A section of Echoes by pink Floyd uses that technique too
i gasped at the tone
Thanks a lot for watching haha 🤗🎛
Sounds amazing! What amp were you playing through?
Thanks so much! A fender deluxe (Reverb) re-issue 🎸
So put your fuzz or treble Booster before the wah and turn down the volume on your guitar? Will need to try this later.
That’s the ticket yes 👍
What gauge and brand strings are you using? Thanks, great everything.
Gauge 11 Ernie ball, thanks a lot
👍👍🧨
Jimi never used fuzz before wah so this is only a SRV, Sayce trick ;)
He used pedals in a variety of orders
Ya dude I highly doubt that he never switched the order up to see what was going on
@@builderphill1361 when?
@@Bob-Sacamano314 probably did but there's no footage of him using fuzz before wah and you never hear him doing it
@@benjaminwoodrowmusic6070 the solo for Rainy Day, Dream Away sounds really similar to how Chris has this sounding. Wouldn't doubt if he did use Fuzz into wah.
Sounds like a bad wine... Slightly metallic, with syrupy sweet tones. ;p
depends of the fuzz. fuzz face sounds best before wah
I fell for the click bait too. Lol
What is that fuzz face on the top left with the great state of Texas on it? I gotta have that….
It’s a custom one off Texan Twang we made for Zapata of Gary Clark Jr band ❤️
@@PedalPawn hey I would love to talk to somone from pedal pawn please DM.

Searching for Bass/WahWah sounds in the style of Hendrix?
Say what!!
Was like 293, sad to change it from 292, hendrix fans wya
You need to improve your audio
Is in desperate need of acoustic treatment of the room. The low ringing on the part where he was talking in the intro nearly made me just exit there and then ......... in which case I'd have missed the guitar which came later. Sound quality was much better during guitar playing so I presume close mic'd or possibly even a DI feed.
Dude.......if you can't treat the room then at least close-mic yourself.
The early reflections are really bad.
