I wasn’t so sure about fuzz, so I bought one of those cheap Behringers to try out. I like fuzz now & plan to get a big-boy pedal soon. Probably a big-muff.
If you like the Behringer, just get an effects loop pedal with a true bypass switch. Saturn works make pretty affordable ones, snd they’re isolated. It’s for folks who don’t want a full 5 to 12 switch looper, who may have a vintage or cheaply made pedal, they don’t want to stomp on all the time. It’s also cool to have a few of them, just to put different pedals, that one stacks together the most often, into.
You should try the Keeley Moon pedal if you haven’t already! It has the boomiest low end with mudding up the tone of any Big Muffs that I have ever played. Power chords are down right nuclear though that pedal
Bit confused you showed us the classic big muff then played it out. On the pumpkins reissue of the op amp big muff, two different sounding pedals in my opinion.
I love big muffs. I have a few of them, the rams head and the OP, and theyre the mainstay of my sound. When used with proper amp settings and overdrive theyre unbeatable
Definitely should note that is the OP AMP muff, which clips in a different way and will change your tone depending on your amp or pickups. Also not the pedal you initially showed.
The stickers were in a book I used to write my guitar parts down in, and my band mates thought it would be funny to ‘make sure i could remember how to play a D chord’ haha! Thanks so much!
I keep going back and forth between a muff and a rat and I've landed on the rat for now. For me, I tinker with a big muff until I find the one sound I like that works with my guitar/amp and I can get 5 or 6 sounds I like out of a rat. I know they're different things but I use them both for sustained leads and smooth distortion bar chords
Every week I think a different pedal is the greatest 😅 EHX fuzz is one of them. There is a wah out (EHX Cockfight Plus). Wah & fuzz & switch for pre or post wah fuzz 😮
My biggest tip would be to move the mic around different positions on the cone and see what sounds best to you. What mic you using? I’d say if you can get hold of an sm57 you’ll be golden. Think I’m gonna make some in-depth courses early next year on this stuff.
I actually use a 57. Could it be my amp settings? I have a vox ac10 and put the gain up significantly. I'll experiment with the mic location more though. Could string gauge also have something to do with it? Thanks for the reply.@@thesethingsmakenoises
It helped you learn the Open D chord too!!
BURN! If I were him I would NOT be having that.
Big Muffs are very versatile too. Can be used in any style of music

You won’t regret it!
I’m planning on buying a bass big muffs and even tho it’s for bass they sound amazing on guitar u should check it out!!!!
The basset in my band uses one but I'm not sure if we've ever used it on guitar.
@@thesethingsmakenoises you should really try it out

Add a reverb tremolo and chorus and youve got a dead good shoegaze tone 👀
🤘🤘
I had this Shorts on loop while surfing the web, I didn't bother to stop the video because I just looove that tone so much.
I think you might be smelling the pedal instead of listening to it
Man love the style of these shorts!! Keep it up!!🤘
Thanks mate! 🤘
This demo had that 1992-1996 alt rock sound....which I indeed MISS terribly!
Talks about the NYC, then plays the opamp

Ahh sorry it was a cutdown of a longer video where I explained that. ☺️

I love my green Russian big muff
Awesome!
Why’s the D chord printout taped on your OpAmp Big Muff? Love your videos!

Yep, Op Amp + JMJM is just 😘👌

I have it and I love it
I have multiple Big Muffs and a Boss DS-2 and tbh the DS-2 smokes them all
Yes
These are good for Hendrix/Eddie Hazel type tone right?
Any DBA Fuzz >

I know me too 😂 that sounds awesome!
The fact that it's been around "decades" should be testimony to it's usefulness not vice versa!
Yeah true!!
I love this pedal, it sounds massive but unfortunately gets so lost in a live mix
My latest video gives some tips about how to get them to come through in the mix a bit better!
Play it with an overdrive
Put an overdrive in front of it
Push it with a boost, it sounds amazing. I've got a Russian Reissue muff, but really considering one of these op amp muffs.
Everyone uses a tube a screamer infront of it. That’s the modern “fix”
Still prefer proco rat
Too gritty
I don't think the big muff needs you to sell it 😅
Haha!!
Howd you mic the amp? I have the same pedal and am having trouble making it sound as good as you do
