I actually preferred them. It let Jay talk more, and let him ramble a bit and really just let him talk about the car on his own turn. When you add production value it makes him feel stiff, it doesn't have the same flow.
This video made me realize just how diplomatic and charitable Jay is, yet seemingly honest at the same time. He gives light criticism about the clutch, battery, scrapping, tight entry, tires and shocks, making these issues sound like no big deal, almost like it's your fault for not understanding, lol. Then he tells the spin out story, taking all the blame on himself with humility. And continues to praise the car and sweep it all under the rug with skill as we drool over the Carrera GT. Can you see how artfully he navigated the controversy? This is part of the reason Jay is so successful. He's not stupid and knows just how to handle wealth and fame without making enemies. Kudos.

Yeah, and some of the editing on this was atrocious. It's common on his older videos, too, but there are a number of times when they have in-car audio playing over a drive-by clip, ruining the sound. WHY?!

I remember watching you spin that car, you were in a black one and you handled it like a true professional driver. I am 39 and I remember watching that like it was yesterday.
Out of all the modern Porsches I've seen, this is the one. As for classics, the first 356 will always hold a special place in my heart (even if I've only seen it in games)
Only a longterm owner can truly appreciate it ! Well done Jay ! Congrats !!!!!
Thats the sound that creates car enthusiasts when the young people hear it.
Oh yes..it sounds like an old f1 car. I'd say it's the most italian german super car ever. Porsche let the hair down with this one lol.
My friends dad when I was young had a badass Foxbody with color shifting green flames and from what I remember it had straight pipes for sure. Also when I was 8 I got to start a Nationwide series NASCAR. Those 2 things made me a car guy.
@@AlexC981 I was always more into hot rods and muscle cars but the first time you hear a european sports car screaming, it gets your attention.
Exactly. I fell for the Carrera GT after hearing the clip at 5:25 in this vid...

So, no more future car enthusiasts due to electric hum?
Best car ever . Best sounding car ever. Good to know the crew is back , stay safe. Cheers from Brazil.
Glad ur ok from cliff fall .please take a yellow cab goin to gigs.love this car .my older bros all had bathtubs.
What a car. Jay’s love for cars is contagious.
“I’d show you the footage but we can’t afford it” .. as he sits in a Carrera GT, surrounded by a multitude of obscenely expensive exotic & rare automobiles..Gotta love this guys modesty 😂😂👍
He’s a very frugal person! Not cheap, frugal. Still bargains on his purchases, I would say it’s what allowed him to have such a massive collection.
Dude, he’s wearing denim clothes. He’s not pretentious, is very frugal with where his money goes. If the footage costs 100k to show it he wouldn’t waste his money when you can search for it in 5 sec here on the same platform.
@@KarmaticEvolution I'd say the $35 million plus per year he's made from The Tonight Show plus stand up plus the money made from his website and UA-cam Channel allowed him to build a massive collection. But, I'm not an idiot like you.
@@larrysmith6797 ,idiot? Really?
This is why he is rich and you're not!
Love this Porsche. Love that V10. Surprising what carmakers can do if they are not overthinking things. All you need, great car, great engine, great road and a great guy.
2:56 "It's very low, it goes" CAAAAHHHAHH CAAAAHHHAHH "and now it goes" CEEEEEEHEHEH CEEEEEEHEHEH 😂
"There's no way to get out of here gracefully..."
Thank you, Jay. As an older guy myself, I find that is so very true in more and more situations in my life. Heave, heft, tug, pull, grunt...
It's not pretty.
Wat we love the absolute most about Jay is he is a 100% genuine car guy. He appreciates them for wat they are. All of them not just a specific kind. All of them!! Love it!💪💪
Definitely one of the best sounding engines ever. Up there with the F-50 and 26B 4 Rotor NA
I didn’t mind the pandemic edition shows. Hope having the crew back takes a little stress off ya Jay. Such a beautiful car!
Talking about what you love isn’t stressful
@@Sheridantank getting the perfect shot, making sure the audio is good and pretty much being a sound man, director is tho.
I honestly love the episodes where Leno is just alone talking and talking
@@Enzoxvx
I see you everyone on you tube I feel like. Nice profile picture.
I actually preferred them. It let Jay talk more, and let him ramble a bit and really just let him talk about the car on his own turn.
When you add production value it makes him feel stiff, it doesn't have the same flow.
My all time favorite car. I was obsessed with it in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.
Same
This video made me realize just how diplomatic and charitable Jay is, yet seemingly honest at the same time.
Kudos.
this is my 2nd favorite engine sound, my 1st being ayrton senna in his mp4-5. he pushed it to the end of it's rev limit and kept it there as much as possible. carrying so little about over revving n we have amazing footage and passion from the videos demonstrating a way of driving that few can handle.
The sound, the glorious sound!!. Also like the sound of a 12 cylinder Ferrari, heaven to my ears!!
one of my all-time favourite cars right here. The styling and that engine 😍
When it came out I watched the Top Gear episode with this car just to listen to its sound more times than I can count.
If I could give immortality to one person, it would be you Mr. Leno. Thanks for giving hope to every poor little boy out there in the world, watching your videos so much years.
One of Jay Leno's absolute best videos. Personal, insightful and a truly exclusive car.
Pretty sure this is my favorite youtube channel! Jay is the man!
While I partly agree you should check Harry Metcalfe, same type of car guy but British
This car doesn't look like a 2004 car, and under the hood it looks like same alien tech, one of my favorite car of all time.
porsches design is timeless imo

CRIMSON AMETHYST, yes we know, we watched the video, no need for you to give us a transcript.
This may be my favorite Jay Leno’s Garage video. The Passion, knowledge, and love for the vehicle comes subtly and clearly. This is a fabulous car.
AWESOME CAR!I AM SO GLAD YOU DID THIS VIDEO.I REMEMBER WATCHING THE TV SHOW WITH YOU IN TALLADEGA. I SAW ONE OF THIS
AT CLAIRE PORSCHE IN WEST ROXBURY ,MA BACK IN 2004.IT WAS IN IT'S OWN ROOM AND YOU COULD JUST TOUCH THE CAR.I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT,
CAR WAS COVERED BY LITTLE KIDS FINGER PRINTS. I WENT BACK A WEEK LATER AND CAR WAS COVERED WITH VELVET ROPES AROUND IT.THANKS FOR
SHOWING US JAY GETTING OUT OF THE CAR.SOUND IS INCREDIBLE,WISH I WOULD HAVE PULLED THE TRIGGER ON ONE IN 2010 WHAT A BARGAIN.THANKS JAY & CREW STAY SAFE AND KEEP IT UP HAPPY TURKEY DAY
Amazing car. This and the SLR are definitely my 2 favourites from this time period.
For Jay to remember what a Pro driver said spinning at those speeds is incredible. “Your going to hit what your looking at” wow now I’ll remember that
Jay's crew is back you can hear it in his voice. Perfect car for a reunion. The best Porsche ever made.
he also says part of his crew is back in the beginning of the video...
Not according to Paul Walker.
959 is fairly close albeit doesn't sound as good.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH the idiots were on 10 year old tires😭😂
17 years old... YES PLEASE ANY DAY. Mr Leno a big thank you for sharing your car with us.
I have a good friend that works for Porsche, and I got a ride in one of these back when they came out, and it was heaven! The looks, the speed, and that sound - the pure magic of a highly tuned raced derived N/A engine.
Unlikely Porsche will ever make an engine with 5.7 litres ever again. The GT will only ever go up in value now. Thanks Jay for sharing
I enjoyed the cell phone footage..... and the trips to the lift. But hey, glad you have your crew back working.
I had never heard of Jay until a few days ago when I stumbled on the Garage shows while wandering around youtube. I’ve since binge-watched them all because he’s such an engaging and natural presenter. Long may he motor on!
You never heard of Jay Leno? Are you from Mars?
@@paulcopeland9035 Tasmania
I also had never heard of him, found him in lock down from a cross the world and have loved every episode since
You know good for Jay for his wild success,. Are we all jealous? Sure. But you know what, its really a testament to his character that he shares all his toys with us, he helps out veterans, and of course supports the hobby. Jay Leno, you are a national treasure, thank you sir.
I don't know who needs to hear this but here goes. We don't care about seeing anybody else except Jay. I'm not missing having any of the owners, or some executive from a company talk with Jay about whatever it may be. These moments where we are alone with Jay are some of the best, his passion for the car shines through and it feels much more intimate, you feel like he's talking to you and that you're there in the garage with him. Here's to hoping we can keep this format for the future.
We will always look back and remember, “Welcome to Jay Leno’s Garage, pandemic-edition”.
The only good thing about the pandemic
haha Truly!
I'm hoping he keeps doing this style of video on certain vehicles moving forward. It's good to mix it up, and these episodes have been fantastic.
The one that got me was when he said "covid enthusiasts" lol
I would have a hard time driving a car that scrapes. When my car scrapes, I feel it in my soul.
I don't know jay... I kind of liked it when it was just you. To me it felt like it was just you and me bullshitting about the car, it felt more personal and I really liked that
:)
Hearing this car rev high........words cannot explain how beautiful it sounds! Cars are art.....pieces of art you can REALLY FEEL!
Jay owns some wonderful cars. This one is off the charts. Please just keep doing what you are doing, Jay. You have fun and we learn stuff. It's a great deal all round.
I can't fathom why anyone would dislike this video. The best sounding car ever, way ahead of its time. Amazing.
I disliked it because I'm Paul Walker's wife.
Pasty white Conan fans pretty much.
Jealousy ;)
After all these years, it still looks better than most cars today. Such a beauty
It's really a timeless design. Doesnt even look like a 2000s car
18:10 this legend knows what a Pez Dispenser is, I collected those as a kid :)
Really glad that these supercars get to hands of a person not only with the money but also with the passion for the cars and actually drives them.
Jay you are a legend. A true car lover like myself. I’ve had the privilege of owning 2 911’s and 1 Macan GTS. I still have one 911 and planing on another. Ive raced them for 5 years and they truely are the most honest car I’ve ever owned. A pure pleasure and not that expensive to maintain. Well done Porsche👍
This car looks much more modern than it is
I kinda liked it when it was just Jay alone with a camera.
It seemed more 1 on 1, more personal.
At least we see less of his thumb now that someone else is holding the camera
LESS MARKETING BS MORE CAR STORIES
Yeah, and some of the editing on this was atrocious. It's common on his older videos, too, but there are a number of times when they have in-car audio playing over a drive-by clip, ruining the sound. WHY?!
I like that somebody else is doing the editing now. Everything is not pure black now, you can see details in there. EDIT: I take that back. Total black in the dark areas. Covid must have taken their eyes out.
@@luppa79 Months off and limited crew still. It'll take some time to get back to the full TV quality. I'm just happy to have some rolling/tracking shots back, as much as I liked the full 'Pandemic edition' videos, I missed seeing the cars in motion from another vehicles perspective.
Could you start uploading in 4K one day ? Your series will go down in history as something special, and every detail should be seen in the best quality possible.
But UA-cam doesn’t support 4K?
Jay is actually using the clutch to its full potential. SO MANY drivers/videos of Carrera GTs ppl either dump or let revs drop entirely (which is fine) but properly driving this car (no flywheel), you have to DOUBLE CLUTCH. Jay does this perfectly if you listen closley. Another great is example is BrianZuk
I love when Jay just spitballs the whole thing. He’s so eloquent and has so much knowledge right off the top. My favorite car no doubt.
I have to say that I miss the ‘one man and his car’ style of the lockdown videos! Also, bring back the Dickies coveralls 😉
I think (hope?) he can split the difference between full-on productions and "COVID-edition" entries; either way, he got the formula just about right.
Jay is such a great storyteller
Yes
I absolutely love this car its the best sounding engine I think I've ever heard
Forget about the lexus lfa or carrera gt
5:14 THIS is the best sounding v10 PERIOD.
Truly one of the best sounds to resonate out of any car. This and the Ford GT-x1 are my favourite convertible supercars and ones that will never be replicated
9:50 THIS MAN KNOWS BRAKES!
Haha, true, such condensed data.
Jay knows his stuff
Jay and team, thank you for your hard work in keeping this amazing show going on a skeleton crew during Covid!!! Glad you got the full crew back now!!!
I kinda miss Jay just being himself on the phone.
This is good too but seems more like just TV.
Not complaining but it was kinda fun to see Jay do the whole thing himself.
The episodes without his crew are completely dark, you can't see any details on the cars, and the colors are wrong. Sometimes you couldn't hear what he said.
These are much better with good lightning and audio.
Jay Leno is a good American. His videos are most interesting. His insights are one of a kind and personal. Good job.
How in the hell could anyone give this video a thumb's down? Absolutely one of the greatest automobiles of all time! Thanks Jay!
