If you have the captions on, when he's revving the car it just says [MUSIC]
Indeed it is!
Love it when youtube captions do that. I even thought about putting that on my rear bumper.
Just shows that the captions are extremely accurate.
Omg it does say music lol but it is for me thanks bud for that info

It´s one of those rare cars that they didn´t have to make. They WANTED to make it. And that´s very rare.
My favorite comment in this whole video is, “it’s about personal responsibility.” As a society that is something we need a lot more of. Thanks for another great video Jay.
Yup
I love how Jay is so casual about it.."I´ve had this thing for almost 17 years, and we havent done it yet" like its some old book you find in your attic and not this amazing car
LOL true
this is the car that defines what a car should be, it's all about driving
@Spinning Back-Kick This is a dumb reply. ALL Carrera GT's are million dollar cars. It's a drivers car, supremely engineered, and an owners driving habits dont change that fact.
I mean the F-40 but whatever.
Truly...

wrong. 9/10 drivers will never drive this car to its limits or what its designed for. you need to be highly skilled to even drive this car competently. this car is built for a very small percentage of drivers.

@C L Still triggered huh? Better lay off the drugs man...
Just like the Veyron, I love that there's no infotainment screen, or anything like that, that would instantly show the age of the interior. This car's interior will remain timeless because of that.
yup F40 comes to mind too
The Porsche Carrera GT and the F40 are Legends. But the Veyron can't even comped with that.
Chiron doesn’t have it either. If you don’t count the digital driver screen.
Timeless
Any car, without tech that is obsolete so quickly, becomes a "keeper". Acually, you want the last era before it got out of hand. 1994 +/- a couple years.
I laughed out loud at his joke of "We were so impressed with the clutch that I decided to get the rest of the parts." That joke was pure gold.
I dont believe he was joking to be honest.
@RBCharger Can you explain it bro, I didnt get it?
@@MethmalDhananjaya I believe he was saying that after looking at the clutch he decided to get the rest of the parts as in "he bought the whole car"
Things nobody ever used to say: "It feels like a lot more than 603 horsepower."
They used to say the opposite: "this Carrera GT needs more horsepower because what does Porsche know about cars and horsepower?"
So naturally these cars had to be "tuned" and then some idiot with more money than brains crashed it and naturally blamed Porsche for it.
@@tjroelsma Paul modded out his Carrera GT and his teammate was the one who crashed it. His daughter is one who blamed Porsche. So much disrespect towards a dead person and you don’t even have your facts straight.
@@zeronokiller It's kind of bizarre how YOU bring up the link with Paul Walker and then accuse ME of being disrespectful.
In the US, (where else?) multiple rich people have bought a Carrera GT because of it being as close to a racecar that's road-legal as you can get. Then they drove it in anger, found out too late they lacked the skills needed to control such a car and crashed. Instead of acknowledging it was their lack of skills that caused the crash, they turned around and blamed Porsche for not having all kinds of electronic driver-aids built into the car (wasn't that the reason they bought the car to begin with?) to save them from their own stupidity.

I have to say, I think those silent moments when Jay circles around a car to get to the bonnet, or whatever, are great. I don't know why, exactly. Maybe it's the unedited quality about it. I feel I'm right there in that garage. These videos are great. In my opinion, these videos are Jay's best work ever.
These covid episodes have been excellent.
agreed, i happen to like the less edited, seemingly more intimate style of this episode. even just small things like how gentle he closes the front bonnet and pushes down, then it clicks. those moments are what car guys appreciate. cant explain why.
Yes, closing the the trunk, that's the way to gently latch it. My son and his wife do the same thing. I am sooooo proud of them
The best ever was when Richard Carpenter used his t shirt bottom to carefully click home the hood on his black '70 Plymouth 'Cuda. Jay was just about to slam it home, Richard was alarmed and took over. If you haven't seen that older one, look it up on Jay's channel. Subtle and easily missed.
Agreed, like all his work but these Pandemic editions are much more personal.
Jay nailed it; “personal responsibility”. Stop blaming objects, products etc for your own mis-actions
Exactly
Back in the Day, at the end stage of development, Walter Röhrl actually helped Porsche with the factory tune, he test drove the car, and even he said that the Carrera GT is not a car to joke around with, it's a amazing experience but not forgiving, and I think if a group B driver says this it says a lot.
@@leopard2a6m23 If you watch the Top Gear episode about it, Jeremy said the same, and also that Stig spun the first couple of laps trying it out.

Your comment is making me proud to work for Porsche... warm greetings from Stuttgart, Germany... hope to see you there soon...
@@masquenada7584 Actually, while on business in Stuttgart from the States, I toured the plant in Zuffenhausen many years ago, while the 959's were in production. It was the VIP experience of a lifetime for this Porscheholic (and I'm NOT even a VIP, but I did have a special connection at the time who set everything up)! I was driving a 911 back then and they treated me like absolute royalty. They even opened the museum for me, which was normally closed that day. My tour guide took the velvet ropes down and allowed me to sit in some very, very famous cars. They also allowed me to take some production line pictures inside the plant, which is normally verboten. Last, it was really my lucky day, as I was able to get shots of a group of about ten spanking new 959's, protective plastic wrapped, sitting behind Werkes 1, awaiting shipment to their lucky new owners. My tour concluded at the museum and they even sent me home with some special gift shop mementoes, cool posters, and a beautiful Porsche crest key fob. I've kept my beautiful official Porsche Visitor badge all these years and will treasure the memory of that very special day forever!

Interestingly, I also had the opportunity to tour the beautiful Mercedes plant in Sindelfingen on a subsequent trip to Stuttgart. It was very high tech, even back in those days, and quite impressive, but not nearly as enjoyable as seeing the Porsche plant. I share your sentiments entirely and, too, hope the pandemic comes to an end in the foreseeable future. It has wreaked havoc with our lives for far too long. All the best to you and yours!

Not really, the design of the wheels and lights is very early 2000's. Not to mention the overall body lines are too soft to feature on modern cars too, as the current design aesthetic followed by the car industry has very well defined creases. And of course that soft curved silver on leather interior is very dated as well compared to modern cars.
