I love when Jay tells his Viper horsepower story, over and over. An uncle we all love.
He does indeed tell many anecdotes over and over. And like you said ,we do not mind. I'm glad someone else noticed.
In a long running series like Jay's , one assumes many people are seeing you for the very first time, so the examples you use are relevant to many people even though they are repetitive to many others. There's probably hundreds to thousands of first time viewers for every episode. So the repeating stories are actually just shrewd placement of information Nuggets for newcomers. As any good writer would do in a long running series.

It just struck me, I'm so glad none of Jay's videos have an annoying, different music track every 20 seconds. So much stuff on TV has that stupid annoying music to it.
Agreed so many video ruined by garbage music. Why do people always feel the need?
I'm a musician, so should really support people adding music whenever possible. But I entirely agree. I frequently stop watching videos because the music makes it difficult to concentrate. Putting big pumping music over the sound of a great engine is of course particularly unforgivable.
Agreed. 100%
Don't get me wrong, a good use of music such as in some of Top Gear's fabulously produced pieces is great, particularly as it's arranged and mixed so as not to get in the way of the speech.
It's having music in the background for the sake of it that's the problem. Like, if you have so little confidence in the ability of your content to hold people's attention without artificially-implied mood from (cheaply-bought, muso-screwing) library music, maybe think about improving your content.
@@ricochetey because they need to fill the time with missing content. Jay has the content, and doesn't need the music crap as filler.
I remember when I was in tech school, picking up a car mag and reading the article about this car. It was the first car I'd ever heard of with 5 valves per cylinder. And one of the other things they don't mention in this video is, it has no carpet. The floor covering is quilted leather.
Wtf. What do they call that so I can look that up?
I once saw an Audi 5 valve head in a scrap bin at work. It was an odd sight.
@@spacepope-1 lol someone cooked it
@@spacepope-1 They aren't uncommon tho, you most likely dont know this but it's just the 1.8T engine found in MK4 Golf GTI's, Jettas, Passats, A4's etc from about 96 to around 2005. They are great engines. I guess when VW moved on to the 2.0T they didn't think the extra valve was worth it. If you think about it, it's the most optimal valve layout in theory considering no space is left unused.
@@placeholdername3206 Actually having 5 valves for one cylinder is not really a great thing. This is because you end up with spaces between the valves that are too narrow. This becomes a structural weakness in the engine design.

That Bugatti blue is one of the best blues I've ever seen.
It's a Bugatti factory color, but yeah most people would just refer to that as variant of baby blue

It is and without it there would be no modern Bugatti. My uncle has one of the first ones in the US and they used to turn their noses up at it and everyone said that's not a Bugatti. Granted he got lucky buying a estate in Portugal that included the car he owns. But now the best part is the idiots that claimed it's no Bugatti now want to buy his car and he refuses to sell to them no matter the price.

Since when is EB110 the unloved Bugatti?
It wasn't the bedroom poster car like Diablo, Countach or TR512. Just like McLaren F1 wasn't.
McLaren F1 and Bugatti exterior design was purposeful, so it didn't have that much "flare" for bedroom poster.
None of the kids knew about F1 till Need for Speed 2 went out.

The problem with the EB110 was that it was a acquired taste. Back in the early 90's everyone thought that car was hideous, but now everyone sees it as beautiful. Style had to catch up to it not the other way around. The designer was a master.
Gives me a little respect for Schumacher. He seen how good it was from the beginning.
I rember sawing it back then and thinking it looks weird, now it's awesome
You're right. When I first saw this car (13) I thought it was hideous. Now (21) I love it, I find it gorgeous.

I hope you never stop doing these. I really enjoyed watching. I'm Italian and I can really appreciate this car.
Of course Jay just has a random Bugatti engine that's not even in a car that he's had for 25 years.
That's as old as my Impreza lol
Worldwide Wyatt when the f1 engine came out on that restoration blog... only on Jay Leno’s garage.
I can't believe they never mentioned the offset engine placement. In order to squeeze the engine, transmission & AWD differential into the tight engine compartment they had to place the engine 3" off from the centerline. It's become a quirk synonymous with the EB110.
Silvester Humaj or the fact that the transmission case is integrated in to the engine block and so on.
@tokyosmash yeah I was looking at it and thinking there must have been a motorcycle drivetrain engineer on the project... so cool!
A passionate informed owner! Bravo
The fact he bought it to drive deserves a nod of respect... Nice.

If I owned an EB110 I believe Jay is the only guy I'd ever let drive it besides my father. Man such a beautiful and well designed car. (even with the really ugly dash haha)
The car's owner is so likeable. You can tell he's a huge Bugatti nerd (and automotive enthusiast) and probably could talk about all kinds of arcane Bugatti details from memory, but he manages to stay restrained. And he's very comfortable talking to Jay. Plus, something Jay hasn't driven ever before--that's pretty rare. Great video!
Been about 25 years since I saw this car in a magazine and wondered what it drove like in real life. Thanks for doing this video :)

Jon - this is one of those cars I would own.
You often say that you could "put out this design tomorrow" and it would look modern, but this just looks so much like a '90s car to me.
exactly. it looks good, but still old. nothing modern about it lol
It could pass in the 00s in my opinion
Yes it does look dated, but i love the 80's and early 90's angularity of body lines.
Its the front end, maybe the head lights ?
he says that about his model T as well xd
Late 80s early 90s IMO was the peak of exotic supercar designs....
I would say the peak of beautiful car design was the late 60s, but the best looking supercars was 2000s or even now. The new GT or 06 DBS Volante are probably some of the best looking cars made
Both Ferrari and Lamborghini made their most beautiful cars in that era and then there were the concept cars and ultra-rare cars like the Tatra MTX, Jaguar XJR-15 Sport, Spectre R32 and of course the EB110. The other great thing about this era was it being a peak of powerful analogue supercars for the ones which were left - the Diablo SE30 Jota didn't have any electronic driving assists or even power steering and unlike the VTs was raw RWD and ready to make you realize it if you didn't already!
Matt Arnold Matt Arnold XJ220 is probably the best looking car of the era, but I still think aesthetically cars like the 458, The Aston Martin DB9 or the Murcielago are better looking than the EB110, F40 or the F1. Performance and driving feel I will agree with you. When I got my driver license my father and I drove to Germany and drove a 1993 Porsche 911 Targa, and there is no doubt the liberty carmakers had was special.
It was the peak of every car manufacturer. Mr2, supra, nsx, 3000gt, eclipse, starion, 280zx, 300zx, sylvia, skyline gtr, rx7 countach, eb110, xj220, merrack ss... it was the golden age.
80s and 90s companies where doing whatever it took to standout and be different and make history

With the working steering, opening doors/lids and pop up spoiler this was so cool(and complicated) to build 25'ish years ago. Even just gluing the 4 turbos on felt powerful imagining them all spooling up. Imagination is a glorious thing. Wish I still had it, and the car too. :P

Really? The "local town" where your factory is, and where your employees live, doesn't deserve to be paid for the electricity it provides? You think it's admirable to cheat your suppliers? Hmm.
@Steven Lindsey, The bills he left unpaid were cheating. He cheated the municipality out of the electricity he didn't pay for before he created his own supply. This isn't rocket science.

I just love that these 90's supercars came with tool kits. Nowadays, my Honda civic manual doesn't even describe how to change the oil but back then, people were expecting you to be able to do some things with your ultra-rare, ultra-expensive supercar.
I remember having the die cast model of this exact car when I was around 12 years old and I told myself this was the nicest car that I have ever seen. Funny cause it’s still gorgeous and I still have that die cast model in the same color.
Almost every episode reminds me that I have a bad jealous streak. Absolutely beautiful car.
Fantastic story! Favorite super car of the 90’s
What a beautiful vehicle, IMO so ahead of its time. A great deal of restraint in the design styling, so good to hear a well informed owner quad turbo’d 12 cylinder......I still have the Road and Track magazine review of this car. Great video Jay Leno!
I hade a burago 1/18 scale replica of this EB110 as a kid. it has had a place in my heart ever since. beautiful car and great video!
This car is stunning, people recount the posters on their walls when kids it’s usually the f40 or the mclaren f1 or the countach, the usual suspects. but for me it was the eb110 that was on my wall.
When I was a kid, I had almost the entire collection of pages in "Wheels & Wings" from 1988 to 1991. This car was one of them that amazed me the most. I loved its whole combination of contemporary, futuristic, and supercar looks. The 1 other supercar of the time that stunned me was the XJ220, which had more of a "slingshot", "torpedo", and "missile" look to it, even though it still resembled a contemporary, futuristic supercar.
For me it was the jaguar XJR-15
Certain angles of the EB are just tantalizing in my mind. I love the line/flow of the rear quarter panel from the downward-sloping roofline, the narrow top of the cockpit into the wide rear end, and the integration the body gives to the rear diffuser! Most likely just a coincidence, but I see styling cues resembling later models of other supercars (F430, LFA, Murci, etc). And that manual gearbox connecting the driver to a first-of-its-kind quad-turboed beast is an astonishing engine for its time! ..doesn't sound bad either. Definitely a cool car. I'd love to see a stylish (& functional) roof scoop, but I feel that way about [probably] too many supercars. Haha

The company he's referring to which is servicing EB110 is B Engineering, located just minutes away from the Bugatti factory in Campogalliano. B Engineering is also the company behind the EDONIS which was supposed to be the "continuation" heir of the EB110 but never make it to the market (just very few cars were made). Here's their website in case someone is interested www.bengineering.it . I visited the Bugatti factory in Campogalliano and I can say that it's possibly the best factory I've seen in terms of design and layout, considering that it was built in late 80s is still a masterpiece of rational, classy and timeless design.
@Elton Joel If I remember correctly the property of the Factory is now of a real estate company. There was a project to convert the area into a shopping mall (destroying the factory) and I've seen sketches but it was abandoned some years ago due to lack of investors. Pagani is for sure not going to buy it as they've just built their own brand new factory/HQ 2 years ago and I also see no reason for them in being interested in such a project and investment.
Wow...totally forgot about Edonis. I remember reading the road test of it in Car magazine(or EVO maybe) back in the day. Very cool...thanks for this.
Thanks for the info! I also know that in California Canepa Motors has sold a few of them. They are probably qualified to service also....

He made many beautiful videos on the EB110: he interviewed Romano Artioli, Giampaolo Benedini (architect of the Bugatti "blue factory" and designer of the EB110), Nicola Materazzi (the engineer), Loris Bicocchi (the test driver)...
6:46 Designed by Nicola Materazzi and Paolo Stanzani, the engineers and legends also behind the Ferrari F40 and others. For the fans of this car, there are great interviews with Romano Artioli, Stanzani and Materazzi on Davide Cironi's channel. Italian language but with English subs. Highly recommended! You can also find plenty of video tours inside the factory which is still standing deserted, complete with it's small test track running around the outside perimeter
davide's channel is a must for car affectionados
Why have I never found these??
The factory was affected by an powerful earthquake that hit Itally in that region back in that period, all that it is mentioned on Davide Cironi interview with Romano Artioli and other Bugatti technicians, in the pictures it can be seen the cracked marble on the walls and floors.. Also the fact that many engineers moved from different brands factory to another Ferrari, Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Lamborghini
In the Davide Cironi series about this car, I was struck to know how few people worked to design it. The entire all-wheel drive system was developed by just one engineer!! That's impossible today.
The Carrera GT lift kit story makes a return haha, gotta love Jay
I remember when this came out. I didn’t like the “face”. After watching this episode I have much respect for this car, very impressive. Great story. Thanks Jay.
Hay jay, just want to let u know that u were always my favorite talk show host out of all of em, when I was growing up, and I Reilly enjoy watching jay lenno’s garage a lot. It Reilly very entertaining and informative. I’m glad technology has reached the point we’re I can tell u that , without having to send u a wired letter or something like that. Keep up the good work. I wanna see a review on the Ferrari 550 Maranello, if that ever becomes a option. Thank u much.
I wish the modern Bugattis looked half as good as this.
New ones are fast but ugly
they sexy too
Chiron is one of the most beautiful cars ever lmao
@@nbigham1232 no its not
nbigham123 🤡
Dang the 110 looks way better than most modern cars, wow, art.
true, such a well proportioned package
I agree that it looks better then anything today but disagree that it is a beautiful car. These left me cold. I just didn't like the way they looked. For some reason I have a irrational hatred of Bugatti. For some reason I think they're completely irrelevant in the world today and in fact even back in the 1930s they were as well. This car was soo ugly that I even took my 1:18 scale model apart because I hated the way it looked.
redmr2na lunatic
Gandini design
This car was the best, but it came in the wrong moment.
Today it is still amazing. I love it.
Nice one! In my younger years (1991) i had the opportunity to Visit the old Maserati Factory in Modena, the Ferrari plant in maranello and taking a Look on the New Bugatti Factory nearby . What a great automotive People the northern italians are…and what unique Kind of Entrepreneures artioli, alessandro de Tomaso and enzo Ferrari had been.
I did not expect this to be so thoroughly fascinating, having started knowing nothing about the car. Excellent episode.
I remember at the Chicago Auto Show - I still have the brochure - on display what was supposed to be the forthcoming EB110 SS America. It was going to turn the company around with US buyers, but never happened. It still looks and sounds magnificent.
Jay, love the fact that you did not fail to mention the Dodge Viper in this video ! 💪🏼
I just want to say, thank you for this video !
Jay, any chance of getting your hands on a Vector W2 or W8 for an episode??
YES. Those are very cool looking . inside out
This Please
Now that I wanna see too
I've been waiting as well.
mimixownzall there was only one W2, so good luck on that, would kill for a W8 or for Gerry to bring by the WX3 twins for a review.
That’s a New One...I don’t have the car so I bought its Engine !! 😳 Jay really Love cars !! 😅
kragseven It’s really crazy !! Lol
The duct tape on the turbo turbine housings was a little much, would have expected some aluminum or plexi block off plates for something like that.
love to watch Jay get out of the valley and go out to a canyon road looked like Little Tujunga.
there are a lot of great canyon roads in So Cal my favorite is Bouquet Canyon.
My favorite car growing up in the early 90s. Still love that blue color!
Hi Jay. Have you heard of the Edonis made by Italian company B. Engineering ? They created a car from leftover Bugatti EB 110 chassis and engines after the early 1990's bankruptcy of the factory as you know and the staff included several ex-factory Personnel. They ditched the EB 110 four-wheel drive and adding two large turbos in place of the four original units made for a truly Savage creation and the Edonis had the looks to match with a body seemingly constructed entirely out of cooling ducts. I had the privilege of driving one of these four years ago while in Italy and let me tell you it changed Direction like a Ferrari F40 with sublime Precision and beautifully judged feel. As I mentioned they had gotten rid of the four turbos and fitted two large IHI units and also increased the capacity of the original engine from 3.5 l to 3.8 l. This thing was an absolute animal. It would Ambush your senses and slap them silly. The company's target was to produce 21 cars approximately but no one knows if they ever achieved this according to the owner of the car which I had driven.
As many said, the history of this car is documented on Cironi's videos. Almost all the doubts they are having on this video are answered ha ha.
Gandini was involved on body design, he doesn't think the car is beautiful, he distanced from the project dissatisfied/unhappy.
For Jay all cars seem the most beautiful...
Materazzi projected the engine, he thought 4 big turbos was too much (he solved the issue in the Edonis using only 2 turbos), he solved the integral traction they wanted to implement from 50-50% that they wanted (crazy too much in a sport car) to 27-73% front-rear traction split.
He also distanced from the project dissatisfied/unhappy.
Engineer Stanzani, one that started the proyect as leader or something like that, also got out and was replaced.
Sadly this videos are getting a little boring, like made with a cookie cutter, many artsy shoots and they don't show the car details.
You do know that beauty is subjective right?
I wish I was the kind of car collector (or any kind of car collector for that matter) that has a new Bugatti quad turbo v12 sitting around on an engine stand to...um, just look at now and again.
That engine / gearbox combo is stunning.
This is still one of my favorite supercars of all time.
This car is so sick and so ahead from the time it was made. A truly masterpiece
Which moron invented the expression it’s so sick or this is sick . 😂
