Some really great advice for this plant is to spray the leaves daily with a water bottle. Ever since I started doing that my plant has grown like crazy and is super green!
what a lot of good information, I would add that sometimes plants sometimes get yellow leaves or lose whole steams because the rest of the plant shades out said leaf or stem. good video and great content and info. Can't wait for the next video.
just got an andansonii two days ago and this was the first video that popped up when i searched “monsters andansonii care” 💗 btw miss your videos and hope your doing okay 🫶🏼
You are so wonderful to watch. So pleasant and you speak so clearly. 😊 I just got my Monstera Adansonii and I am praying I get to grow and propagate it. Thank you for the tips. Love them all! 😊
I just got a VERY long one of these from a garden center so thanks for this bc this baby is ready to be propagated!! I can't wait to have a bunch of these! 🥰
Hi, I am from Colombia. Thanks for your video, it is very very informative. I did the propagation by water, it has two days. I hope I grow up a lot. a hug from medellin
Man I'm so used to cacti and succulent care that it was a pain in the butt to care for this plant hahaha. Even with the perfect tropical weather, I sucked at the watering part lol. This helped a lot, thanks 😊
I couldn’t figure out if i was under watering or over watering. I would let the soil dry out between watering and then water, but then it would turn yellow and brown. You’re showing and example of the leaf when its too dry helps enormously. Thank you.
N S hello 😊 im just curious, is it still growing? I wanted to plant it water since having soil everywhere can be a fuss. And i wonder what kind of light you have (low/medium/high?) thank you 🌷
@@moonlily952 I don't have a grow light but i keep my water cutting in a SW facing window with a screen, it's already produced 2 new leafs for me after I fixed my humidity! So far from what I've seen they do amazing in water and watching the roots grow is so much fun :)
Thanks for the great tips! Believe it or not, the adansonii is nowhere near the top of my wishlist. I've walked past so many hanging baskets of them without a second thought. I wouldn't turn away from a small plant if I happened to find one though. But still another great video 🙂🙂

I have 2 jars of them right now that ate almost ready to be potted in soil but scared to move them the mother plant is huge so this was the first time I took cuttings and rooted from it.
Thank you for this video!! I have a question I would be so grateful if you answered! I recently purchased my Adansonii at Home Depot, repotted it (handled quite aggressively since it was so heavy!), gave it a good watering, and noticed that two days later after close inspection, many of the leaves all torn or have small and dry light brown spots or holes on them. I'm concerned for them! I was wondering what you would do in this case?
For more context, I did accidentally tear the leaves while repotting, so I'm wondering if I should cut those off? And the small brown dry spots and holes , I think, were already there to begin with
I know its been a bit but I hope your adansonni got its act together for its plant Mama! I figure nature is not perfect so my houseplants don't need to be. More realistic :)
I keep mine in the basement on the east facing window ledge. For humidity I have a large fish tank and a few small ones, so I hope that helps the plant with humidity.
Great video, I have a question, what does it mean if the vine is growing but instead of new leaves it's putting out tiny crisp nubs? The rest of the plant seems to be doing fine
They take a while to root but once they do, watching how the new leaves develop is fascinating. Almost similar to a philidenron. This plant hates my Texas heat
Hi Erika, very useful video, thanks for sharing. My question is about bugs, i think mine got yellow leaves at some point and i used neem oil solution and it looks ok on new leaves. What kind of pests are common in this plant?
Just bought a small one today! Although I did a horrible job on picking it out. LMAO Didn't realize there was a entire leaf rolled up and stuck through the hole of another leaf. Can't get it out without cutting one of them.
It could just be getting used to it’s new environment :) But if the yellowing continues & gets worse, it could be a sign of root rot. For some reason a lot of adansonii’s come in weird soil that doesn’t dry evenly. If you have a moisture meter, I highly recommend using it for this plant & testing out multiple spots in the soil. Good luck! 🥰
I got mine about 2-3, weeks ago. Soil was very dry. Leaves were very wrinklely. I used neem oil upon bringing it home. I've wiped down all leaves ( had a lot of hard water stains,) put it in my bathroom to get more humidity, put plant light in there ( no bathroom window), it's still got wrinkled leaves and new growth curls down. What can I do to fix it. Oh, BTW a lot of new growth on it but a lighter green color ( guessing they will darken with age)
Great video very informative thank you , Is this where your cuttings come from for your etsy store ? Can you do the exact same video but with your allocasia polly , I have one and I would like to propagate but I would like to see where you cut yours , Thanks again for posting take care
After I repot, how long should I wait for the yellowing to slow before trying something else. My plant keeps getting brown spots and yellowing leaves. I’ve also moved it closer to the humidifier
Your channel is on fire! 😁 congratulations! Hearing from you the word "dormancy", i am now hopeful that my adansonii is on that stage. She used to be very generous in giving me new leaves but now she's left with 1 leaf, which is the oldest leaf. Yellowing started in the middle. Uh oh, that's suspicious, right?
If your last leaf is yellowing, the plant is in real trouble. These plants are not the type that die back to go dormant. In their case dormant means stagnant growth, so you need to water less. Yellow leaves (with no bug issues) means over watering. They like to dry out between waterings. If the green stems are still green, there is hope it will make a comeback, so don't toss it unless the stems die. Just in case the over watering resulted in root rot issues, mix a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water mix and water/saturate the soil with it. It does not harm the plant and will kill soil nasties causing the rot. Do this treatment only once. It will either work, or it will not (if the plant roots are too far gone.) If you do not own a moisture meter, consider it: it is a plant keepers best tool for success.
Hi, Erika! Thanks for the great info :D I know it's an older video but I have a quick question. I have a small Monstera adansonii plant I just bought online that wasn't in the best shape when it arrived. It's healthier now, but still isn't recovered fully. When the new leaves unfurl, some of the fenestrations are breaking. Is there anything I can do to help it grow better leaves? I'm misting it a couple times a day hoping the humidity might help. Thanks!
Just keep doing what you’re doing & make sure it gets lots of indirect light 🌞 maybe you can even start using a gentle fertilizer & see if that helps! Fish fertilizer or a 1-1-1 of whichever brand would be good. Something frustrating too is that as the plant gets bigger leaves will grow through the fenestrations of other leaves around it. (I don’t know why) & the only way to get it out is to rip the fenestration 😪 so I also check on the new leaves growing & if I notice them trying to sneak into a fenestration, I’ll remove it before it starts unfurling. Good luck, you’re doing a great job already!
I bought one of these from home depot and as soon as I brought it home it started getting soggy and wilting. I thought I had done something or damaged it during travel, but found that they had severely overwattered it at the store and it had no drainage at all! I had to cut off so many leaves and replant it in new soil. It has been a 2-3 weeks now and I seem to have stopped it from dying, but it looks rather silly. Long story short, be careful where you buy your plants!!!
Hi Erika! I JUST planted my montera adansonii, that I rooted from a cutting at a plant swap. Yay! Do you recommend putting a ziplock bag over it at this point, do you think that'd be of help?
I bought a monstera adansonii few months back and it was doing just fine untill recently I found something is eating the leaves and even the new leaves,, need help
So I’ve just put several cuttings into water, but I’m wondering where best to put them? A window? A shelf out the way of the sun? Could anyone please advise me? Thank you🤗
You can put them in a window as long as it doesn’t get too hot or cold there. Also if there is direct sunlight hitting, it probably isn’t a good idea. Otherwise I love putting cuttings in windows!
I’m so confused on the location of the window 😭 when you say South/East or whatever facing window is that like when I’m looking out the window from the inside? Cause me looking out from the inside the window is facing East & looking into the window from the outside it is West 😩 Sorry, probably a dumb question.
Haha not a dumb question! The easiest way to find out the direction is to open the compass app on your phone then hold it against the window from inside the room. Phone facing screen up towards the ceiling w the charging port towards your body & the top of the phone against the window. So ya pretty much looking out the window from the inside hahaha
Hi Erika, loved this video i just got a monstera he’s just a baby. i just got him about 5 days ago i repotted him only because he was way over growing the little 4 inch pot and i didn’t water it cuz he was pretty wet already but now after 5 days he’s crying from his leaves i’ve read that they do this when they are over watered but when i checked the moisture on the moisture reader it measures at 2 .
