Steve Winwood with his soulful voice & Chaka Khan with her unique sound bring the house down with a Higher Love!!!!!!!
Stevie Winwood was the thunder to Chakas lightining!
So awesome
Chaka is the shit. Truly one of the greatest female voices ever
That's Chaka Khan with him on vocals and Nile Roger's on guitar...they're both in the video
Is he wearing a hat?
Anytime you have a legend like Chaka Khan in your backing vocals, it says a lot. Steve Winwood deserves it. When Steve was in his teens, he was the vocalist/ keyboard player for "Gimme your Lovin'" by The Spencer Davis Group. Spencer Davis recently passed away, so you can get lots of info on him. Then he was part of this little legendary group called Traffic. Then he was part of Blind Faith. The idea I want to convey is that you have a rabbit hole in front of you, and I encourage you to explore it. You thought Steve was funky with "Roll With It?" You haven't scratched the surface of this guy's output. You can't go wrong with exploring "While You See a Chance" and "Valerie" by him. Steve's a multi-instrumentalist, and the law of averages says that whatever you listen to from him, means that he's playing all of the instruments. Keep that thought in mind. Keep doing what you do....folks in Southside Virginia love the hell out of our adopted little girl.
I am convinced that a black New Orleans Blues singer died 77 or so years ago and was reincarnated as the whitest looking man ever in Steve Winwood.
Cheers 4 years,I feel the same way 'bout Cash,I wish I could take her home & keep her as a daughter,I am a grand uncle many × over
Steve Winwood has one of the best voices in rock IMHO. Valerie is another great one from him.
💯.
LOVE the music of Steve Winwood. This one made even better with Chaka Khan. FABULOUS reaction!
Steve winwood is where we at..classic
I love when you figured out who was singing background....Us old guys remember when this song came out
at 5:18 when you realized......and gave tribute....made the video for me......showed your respect....thank you......That's why I started watching YOUR reactions to start with...old timers like me don't give out thank you's very often...but you earned it!!!!!
Can't wait to see "Roll With It"
That was part of what made 80s music so much fun--Chaka sang on Steve Winwood's song here, MJ did backup vocals for Rockwell on "Somebody's Watching Me", Eddie Van Halen did the guitar solo for MJ in "Beat it", and so on. Different artists would collab all the time and make little extra bits of magic happen. Could you imagine any bigtime current artists doing that now?
The great, extraordinary "Lips and Hips" Ms. Chaka Khan. That is also the equally great Nile Rodgers in the background of the video and on the record playing guitar.
Yep, that's Chaka Khan! Steve Winwood's career dates back to the 1960's. Check out the studio version of "Gimme Some Lovin'" by The Spencer Davis Group some time for a taste of that. Winwood also played the Hammond on "Voodoo Chile" by Jimi Hendrix.
when this song came out... I guess like 1986, I was 17 and it was one of my favorites. Had absolutely no idea about Steve's history... how deep, how many bands, hits, etc. I was wondering why this guy who was a little older was "coming out of nowhere" lol. Of course after looking into his history I was like ohhhhhh
Chaka khan! Yes. This. It’s on my running playlist now. I love Steve windwood ! That’s my teenage years!
Lol, everybody is like waiting for you to notice Chaka, but guys she had her eyes closed at first, she was in the zone, ...and then when you said that "girl" voice, ...YEAH, its Chaka!, if you have ever seen the original Blues Brothers(that crazy show with Dan Aykroyd, and John Belushi), that church scene where the boys get sanctified, who is it in the choir lifting that voice???,..huh CHAKA, of course!,..Tina, had those legs insured by Lloyd's of London, and I think Jennifer Lopez, her bottom(rumored, I think), but I sure hope Chaka has those pipes insured, cause they are priceless,..do keep going with Steve Winwood, he's worked with so many, High Life is good, and Valerie is scrumptious if you haven't checked those, and you might like Boy Meets Girl, "Waiting for A Star To Fall(very, very sweet and up beat), and also The System, "Don't Disturb This Groove ", keep going, keep enjoying, Godspeed, Peace, ✌
i was worried that you were not going to mention Chaka Khan but finally, but you forgot about Nile Rogers, not only did he play guitar in this video but he was also produced the album too
Dang, someone's in a good mood today. It's helping make the second half of my day a lot better.
Great singin' by you too! Chaka Khan adds a lot ! Steve Winwood is top drawer !
I love them both. Grew up with them. Pure fire 🔥
That's John Robinson on drums. He was Chaka's band mate in their group Rufus.
The girl voice is Chaka Khan - perfect fit for this song!
Nile Rodgers on guitar- from Chic and Sister Sledge and Daft Punk
Man...they brought higher live when the made this jam.....Steve Winwood has always hooked up with some incredible musicians to create great music. He’s a genius.
I have good memories of my parents playing this song loud when I was younger, loving your reactions from the UK!
Girl, I love watching you feel the music, and you seemed so deep into this song with your eyes closed, that I was fearful that you were going to miss that it was the fabulous CHAKA KHAN doing back up vocals. So thankful that you finally opened your eyes and acknowledged the Queen! Keep it funky girl, and enjoy your Steve Winwood ride!
None other than Chaka Chan. Soulful funky
Love Steve winwood❗😁
Nile Rodgers deserves more credit. Legendary guitarist, he’s the one laying down those funky guitar riffs.
Another big hit of his is "Valerie"...steve winwood has been amazing since the 60's try him in the Spencer Davis group ..such an amazing voice x
this reaction is so amazing - - you are insanely funny and deep at the same time. The song is amazing and your response captures the moment so well.
Chaka Khan does the chorus to this song just like Michael Jackson did the chorus for the song "Somebody's Watching Me"by Rockwell
From a 67 yr old lady enjoying watching you enjoy Steve who is Awsome. Haven’t seen you hope you’re doing great. ❤miss Barbara
I think Steve winwood was the last concert i went to before covid hit
"I think there's a girl voice underneath." Lol. They showed her a bunch of times, I was waiting to see if you'd notice.
That was Chakakahn.
@@poosala8821 I remember when I first heard the song on the radio and I guessed it was Chaka khan.
It's never a bad thing when you add Chaka Kahn to the vocals.
For sure, she was jamin' hard and her eyes were closed the first time Chaka appearded. For you more experienced viewers Nile Rogers was in the band.
Now that you mention it :)
Yeah I had that Steve Winwood album that had Higher Love and quite a few other songs the whole album was pretty good.
I love the bass in this song! Great reaction BTW!
Nile Roddgers on 1 guitar.
Eddie Martinez on the other guitar.
He played the solo in Simply Irresistible by Robert Palmer.
I bought two of your albums, ScribeCash. I look forward to getting them in the mail! Great reactions, by the way!
Steve Winwood's catalog is deep. Good Luck!
One of the greatest talents ever to come out of Britain, you need to check out his early stuff with Traffic and The Spencer Davis Group 👌👌
Your reaction gives me joy!
Keep the Winwood train rollin!! Cant Find My Way Home or Presence Of The Lord by Blind Faith from their Live at Hyde Park show. Theyre biggest show and best audio/video quality.
Ooooh ooooooh bring me higher love oh oh. Keep it coming
Like I said on your last Winwood reaction...this aint my thing...but I bought the CD because...well..because Winwood is a genius.
Ahh, yes! -your joy on this one was wonderful! Love love love whenever a song really gets you using that beautiful singing voice too :) I'll have to go back and see how much of his work you've done, but you really should do more if you haven't. Steve always infused everything he did with at least a little funk and ALWAYS so much soul! Check out his earlier work in different bands, like when he was just a teenager in Spencer Davis Group (way b4 my time but I've discovered it recently), then Traffic (Dear Mr Fantasy and Low Spark of High Heeled Boys esp) and Blind Faith (Can't Find My Way Home is one of my all-time favorite songs). But yeah I always thought this song was underrated. Timeless jam!
When this song came out, I was the soundman for a band. I used this song before each gig to set the master EQ. The instrumentation was so tight and I knew if I got this song to sound right in the system, the band would sound great when they came out and played.
He started 16(?) Years old. Spencer Davies group ( Gimme some Lovin),. Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. " Dear Mr Fantasy".
Traffic: " Low spark of high heeled boots".
Then solo!
I love Winwood! Great song great reaction! Have you heard Samantha Fish playing kerosine can guitar "Shake em on Down"?
In my opinion that was the best album “ back in the high life”in the 80s, his second album in that decade roll with it “also top shelve the title track is fire!
Chaka Khan makes the song with her backing vox.
My favorite song ever!!
Love this song! Still one of my favorites!
One of your best reactions, and a truly great cut.
I love how you love.
Steve Winwood was always funky. He joined the Spencer Davis Group when he was 14. And a fun little known fact. He's Conan O'briens older brother!
Seriously? Wow I would have never thought he and Conan were brothers. I wonder if Conan has ever made music?
@@FreeMTrider Ever seen him play guitar? He's awesome.
@Christopher Ross rubbersole is shitting you
I did NOT know the Conan connection; (and I know EVERYTHING). Hmmph!
@@rubbersole79 no I haven’t. I’ll have to check him out.
Everyone always recognizes Chaka Khan in the video but no one ever notices that is Nile Rodgers on guitar.
One of my favorite songs ever
Nile Rodgers of Chic on rhythm guitar!!
Hi ScribeCash, I'm a new subscriber, I truly appreciate your reactions along with the genuine "stank-face" you express when you're groovin' to the music!!! (By the way, for those who don't get it, "stank-face" is an actual compliment!!!)...Keep up the good work!!!
The 80s had phenomenal artists !
Loved your reaction 👍
This song opens one of the first (and best) CDs I ever bought, in 1988, Steve Winwood's 1986 album *Back in the High Life*.
Nile Rodgers on guitar.
Yessss.......Niles is the shiz-net of guitar.....a musical master.
I knew it had to be someone good. That dude is badass.
@@FreeMTrider Major music producer. Everyone from Diana Ross, Chic, Sister Sledge, to David Bowie. Niles is a legend.
@@rubbersole79 wow....amazing.
Did you know that Tommy Shaw also had a song called "What If"? It was made for a movie called "Remo Williams the Adventure Begins"
The dude's voice is pure soul
Seriously listen. This is timeless
well you noticed chaka khan , but you missed the legendary and i mean LEGENDARY Niles Rodgers playing guitar
Please react to these songs by the Average White Band (AWB): "A Love of Your Own," Cut The Cake," "Person To Person," "Pick Up The Pieces," "School Boy Crush," "Cloudy (Live Version)," "Work To Do," "Queen Of My Soul" and "If I Ever Lose This Heaven (Live Version)." The Average White Band (AWB) is originally from Scotland and these boys will definitely provide you with some soulful funk that is sure to please...you won't be disappointed!!!
Yes that's her. She been there for the entire video
He has a voice fit for a big guy
Aloha..Good Adventures of servicing our country with the Coast Guard...if you get to be stationed on Maui...We will meet...love peace Aloha
“This is a complete ear-gasm”...Haha..Can i borrow that line?
Hey Boo,. Would you react to. Norman Greenbaum - "Spirit in the Sky"
My daughter likes you too she's 19... your generational Scribe
Low Spark of High Heel Boys.....
This!
Steve winwood the finer things
"Roll With It" I don't know if you already looked at that one and got your reaction out there it's one of my favorites and so is the video to it where they're dancing in the
She did ua-cam.com/video/dlYPMrHIqM4/v-deo.html
@@surlechapeau thank you 😊
She so freaking cute I just love Steve winwood vice
*ScribeCash* 👌❤👍👌
Do Roll With It by Steve you will love it. Very funky!
Check out his video, from when he was 16!!!!!!!!!!!.He sounds like he's 50!...and Black!!!!!!!...watch it!!!!
I like Chaka Khan but she was uncredited for this song…of course when you know who she is she’s credited thru her fans…
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
General Store... 😊🎶🎹
I remember VH1's Pop Up Video: "Chaka Khan was seen helping herself to lasagna on the set of 'Higher Love'...with her hands".
Steve Winwood this his soulful voice just kills it but a history thing on Prince he is half black and Indian his mother was I Indian same as Jimi Hendrix his parents the same whatever happened this that but I'm saying they're both is about the most talented people on earth
❤️Chaka❤️
Very beautiful and attractive young lady
Stevie played all the instruments as well as singing lead on this song that he wrote
Is that Shaka Khan??
Yes it is
BUNE LANN
Let Chaka Kahn sing the whole song! 🔥🔥
It took you over 4 minutes to realize the vocal harmonies were from Chaka Khan! I guess you didn’t know cuz you had your eyes closed. Videos are also made for viewing not just listening. Plus you didn’t mention that the famous Niles Rodgers was playing guitar! Do you even know who he is? Niles and Chaka made that song what it became!! My reaction to your reaction.
Watch your attitude with my girlfriend!
You want to hear Tina Turner? Listen to Frank Zappa's Dirty Love. LOL! I was wrong. The song was Dynamo Hum. Oops! Never mind it was Montana all from the same album.
yea I saw some interview with Chaka after she made this recording and she seemed a little miffed, that she didnt get a little more credit. It was a little sad. But it's true, she did kick it up to a higher level, no pun intended. Still a great song tho. Seems like it would be pretty hard to play. It has 3 or 4 parts to it, by my count,(I'm not a musician) with alot of sudden stops and starts.
The heart beats, but for deeper meaning spoken words reach to our soul.
Please please not just dance to beat but know the depth of what is the meaning of Higher Love
and Chaka Khan....!
My friend
This some sneaky R&B...
