one of the greatest ever to come down the pipe, check out anything he's ever touched and you'll get it! Blind Faith, Traffic, Spencer Davis group or solo the man is a genius.
When you hear the fire log crack that’s gonna tell you right there this ain’t no recording this is a man singing and playing himself. Mr. Winwood is the type of artist the falls asleep with a guitar in his hands. He’s all about the music man. He’s for real.
Just thinking of how Steve is in his 70's and doing that kind of guitar playing and singing...amazing. Pretty much anything you react to by him is great. He recorded that song with Blind Faith when he was only 21. 4 years before, he was with the Spencer Davis Group, another legendary group. Before that, he sang backup for a number of blues artists touring in the UK. This is definitely a rabbit hole worth following. I liked your reaction, and was pleasantly surprised by how much you liked it . Keep up the good work.
Drop d tuning in 5 part harmony is the best sound in a guitar we play this song all the time in our jam sessions when you have 4 acoustic guitars perfectly tuned in harmony after 40 years i get chills every time we play it .Steve Winwood is a legend..
Scribe, Great reaction! You'll love Steve's "Finer Things", "Back In The High Life", and "While You See A Chance". Still got the great voice in his 70's!!
Steve Winwood had many bands throughout the years. Please check out these 2 songs when he headed the band Traffic. “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and “Low Spark of High-heeled Boys”. I think you’ll get into both. Love your critiques.
So many great artists, old school tracks are the best. Yes I'm 59 years old but I find it very hard to like modern day stuff, I really do try but it just doesn't do it for me. Thing is there is so much old stuff I never heard so I'm always discovering new old stuff, sometimes through young musicians.
Styx Remade this song several years ago and you need to listen to it. Nothing but total respect to the music that Steve Winwood gave us. Watch the video version Tommy Shaw is absolutely beautiful on the guitar and vocal.
Oh yeah. The second traffic album premiered in 1968 on a local underground rock station in Philadelphia called W.D.A.S.FM.They were noncommercial,so they played the entire album uninterrupted. You see.Ifreakt really was a major musical and cultural event.the late 60s after sgt.peppers.I was eighteen at the time and felt myself a part of something extraordinary. In that year the music grew up and became art. Each new album for me and every other enthusiast was opened with a christmas feeling.
This fantastic song is the one that sticks with me from the wonderful movie "Without Limits", which is the story of one of the greatest long distance runners ever, Steve Prefontaine.
You said it Madame In your own words like. What happened with people just having that honest connection with music take out all the unnecessary noise and just be real both lyrically and musically! ... But garnets are given if the next tune I don't put on now isn't some young skinny girl gyrating to auto tuned beats 😕 (Are you proud Dad Lol)
Do a serious deep dive on this guy. He's been at this since he was 14 when he joined The Spencer Davis Group. That is NO lie! 14!!...Believe it, or not, in those days he sounded like Ray Charles!..Check it out here..ua-cam.com/video/VwqsmNR_Q1M/v-deo.html....He co-wrote the classic hit, "Gimme Some Lovin'" when he was 16!, and hasn't slowed down since...He also does "John Barleycorn Must Die" in this same sitting..A version of a hundreds year old english folk song (John Barleycorn) that he made famous with his band "Traffic" after he was with Clapton in "Blind Faith."..That would be a logical one to go to after this one...Thanks, for the post!
Not the Blind Faith version, but kind of an "unplugged" version, with major changes in instrumentation, lack of backup singing. Lovely, but not like when Winwood was in BFaith.
one of the greatest ever to come down the pipe, check out anything he's ever touched and you'll get it!
Blind Faith, Traffic, Spencer Davis group or solo the man is a genius.
Agreed he’s brilliant !
His organ playing on Hendrix' "voodoo child " is genius as well
What a beautiful soul Winwood is. His music has made this world better. He deserves a million laurels before he leaves us.
Steve is one of the bigger dogs. He's one of the really, really big ones.
Steve and Blind Faith first recorded this in 1969 when Steve was 21... Damn he sounds just a great as he did then, just amazing.
Awesome! He’s touring and will be in my city in August. I really hope I’ll be able to go. Love Steve!!!

one of the most beautiful and haunting songs ever written and his voice is magic
He's truly one of the greats! Such pretty guitar work!
This man can sing
Yeah, he still sounds like he did early in his career - he's 64 here.
A legend and musical genius.
I was truly blessed to be raised on his music. He gave us some of the most beautiful music I ever heard.
To be able to do dat!!! A man and his guitar, long long dream of mine to at least play one dam song. Stevie is truly one of the ALPHA DOGS!!
Saw this the day he uploaded it....ripped it straight away! Love the wood spit!
I 've been listening to his music since 1965- 55 years and he still is so awesome

A man and his guitar, playing a old classic to perfection. This is talent.
Anything from the Blind Faith album. Mix of Traffic and Cream. One of the best.
That first crack of firewood reminds me of the (over-modulated IMHO) crash cymbal throughout the song
Drop d tuning in 5 part harmony is the best sound in a guitar we play this song all the time in our jam sessions when you have 4 acoustic guitars perfectly tuned in harmony after 40 years i get chills every time we play it .Steve Winwood is a legend..
Love this tune. Love this performance. And the richness of that guitar means I could listen endlessly to it with no vocal.
Scribe, Great reaction! You'll love Steve's "Finer Things", "Back In The High Life", and "While You See A Chance". Still got the great voice in his 70's!!

This is Winwood many years later solo, which adds to the poignancy of the song.
The older I get the more I appreciate a voice and guitar. Just great

Steve Winwood started singing with the Spencer Davis group in 1963 when he was 15 years old
He was a lot younger when first started looking for his way home. You should listen to 1969 Blind Faith version. " Steve Winwood Was the lead ". Enjoy
🤠AMAZING performance by a master musician!!! 👍
You found one of the magic rabbit holes.
There's a really good acoustic version of him playing John Barleycorn Must Die. Just excellent.
Got it Eileen, I agree!!
Dear Mr. Fantasy, John Barleycorn, and my favorite, 40,000 Headmen. All killer tunes by Steve and his band Traffic.
Now that’s a real pro. Didn’t even flinch when that fire popped 👍
Very underrated Guitar player.
A legend
Check this: So many of our beloved Artists are now in their mid-70’s now and keep getting better.
One guy and a guitar. Check out Chris Cornell sessions @AOL Like a stone. Steve Winwood is a legend, been at it for decades.
Great - says it all
One of my favorite male vocalist. You should check out the original with Blind Faith. He was still singing the song though
amen ty
Styx Remade this song several years ago and you need to listen to it. Nothing but total respect to the music that Steve Winwood gave us. Watch the video version Tommy Shaw is absolutely beautiful on the guitar and vocal.

The original from the late 1960’s is worth the watch.

The beatles wanted him to join their group!
Where you got that from? Do not surprize me through.
The Beatles didn't but Led Zeppelin did. Steve was Jimmy Page's first choice as vocalist.
Look up talent in dictionary. This mans picture is there.
fleetwood mac - "Gypsy"
Now try some Paul Butterfield "In My Own Dream"
Kieth sweat nobody reaction
Not the Blind Faith version, but kind of an "unplugged" version, with major changes in instrumentation, lack of backup singing. Lovely, but not like when Winwood was in BFaith.
Shhhh
He goes by Stevie, not Steve…
Feels like you are using Steve Winwood to sell records
This is nice. It's good. It's just not up to the original
you haven't got the slightest idea
Horrible hostess she doesn't let us here the song were here for
