No, Pegasus. That's not Tina Turner. That's the one and only Chaka Khan singing backup vocals. By the way, this song went all the way to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1986. This song is a definitely banger indeed!!!

Steve Winwood is inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame- he was a backup session player for major stars touring England when he was as young as 10, he was the lead singer and keyboardist for Spencer Davis Group at 16 and knocked the Beatles out of #1 on the charts at 17, when guitar god Eric Clapton heard him sing and play keyboards he said - I heard a pimply teenager who sounded like Ray Charles and had to be in a band with him- so they had a 1 album collaboration with Blind Faith, he had his own band Traffic and then in the 80s went solo with tracks like this one- he is only 76 and still performing with his own world music style
Chaka Khan is featured . Steve winwood another blue-eyed soul singer or maybe his eyes are brown I'm not sure. 😂 Great song! High Life is another goodie.

You need to watch 15 year old Steve winwood singing nobody knows when you’re down and out. Hard to believe he was 15 years old and so talented. Also his video “roll With it” is great.
The guy is a triple threat: song writer, singer and incredible musician (he was the guy playing the Hammond organ at Song for George, when Prince blew the room away).
Stevie goes all the way back to the 60's. He started out with the Spencer Davis Group (check out "I'm a Man") and was also in Blind Faith and Traffic before a very successful solo career.
The Steve Winwood rabbit hole is pretty deep. Go all the way back to the 60s and listen to him when he was young with the Spencer Davis Group. Find the song "Gimme Some Lovin" as one example. You may also recall he was playing the keyboard in the performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps for the George Harrison memorial concert (the one where Prince goes wild on the guitar at the end). He is still performing by the way - just had a concert at Madison Square Gardens.
In the mid 60's, as a teenager, Stevie Winwood was the lead singer of the Spencer Davis Group, who had a few number one hits. He sang his heart out, especially in "I'm a Man", also great classics are "Gimme some Lovin'" (which came to second fame with the movie The Blues Brothers) and "Keep on Running".
Steve Winwood is one of the few musical geniuses in the industry. A child prodigy, he started playing the piano at four, began playing with his father and brother in pubs at age eight. In his early teens he was backing some of the biggest American blues, rock artists in the industry when they toured in England. By 14 he and his brother formed The Spencer Davis Group. This was my introduction to him. Keep on Running in 1964, followed up by I’m a Man in 1966 which is one of my favorites. Steve is a multi instrumentalist, a prolific songwriter, has written for numerous artists, collaborated with a multitude of artists, is highly respected in the industry, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has a deep catalog of great songs. The list of achievements goes on….. If I can recommend any song it would be Roll With It. Steve is the epitome of blue eyed soul (along with a few others). We need to be sure to make sure everyone continues to check out his music. FYI - someone from my part of the country wrote a book about him. He is also just a really good decent human being
@@doughaviland1729 Since you posted this under my comment, I figured I would explain that there were several reasons why I chose this particular song. One of which is that it is not my favorite song of Steve’s. Even though I do love it. I suggested it because BP enjoys listening to and discovering “blue eyed soul” artists and songs. This song is a perfect example of the genre. The video I just added, is a timeless piece depicting a Blues Club, the horns, up tempo beat, dancing, etc. If I had to choose between my recommendation and yours as to which BP would enjoy more, I would wager a bet it would be “Roll with It” simply because “it’s not that deep”. It’s just a very cool, good vibe song and video even though it’s not my favorite song of his. Steve has a long list of great songs. This song always puts a smile on my face anytime I hear it. In my humble opinion, Steve shines on these types of songs and he knows it too.
Steve Winwood was everywhere in the 1960s through 70s, and the 1980s. It's very likely you've heard his distinctive voice in hit songs from the groups in which he sang lead vocals, as well as the numerous hit songs from his very successful solo career, such as "While You See a Chance" from his album "Arc of a Diver" (1980), and "Valerie" from his album "Talking Back to the Night" (1982). His solo career reached a high point in 1986 with the album "Back In the High Life" featuring the US number one hit "Higher Love" (featuring Chaka Kahn on backing vocals and in the video) and "Back in the High Life Again"; a wonderful song which includes backing vocals by James Taylor and a prominent mandolin played by Winwood. In 1988, Winwood reached the top of the US singles chart again with his biggest solo hit "Roll With It." His album of the same title also topped the US albums chart. Steve Winwood was born in Birmingham, England in 1948, and was already a semi-professional musician, playing keyboards and guitar, while still at school. He's a multi-instrumentalist, but he rose to prominance in the 1960s due to his distinctive, soulful, high tenor voice. As lead vocalist with "The Spencer Davis Group", he had two chart-topping singles in the UK by the time he was 18 years old; "Keep on Running" and "Somebody Help Me". The band's breackthrough hits in the US were "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "I'm a Man." All these songs are high energy classics! In April 1967, Windwood left "The Spencer Davis Group" and the formed the band "Traffic" with drummer Jim Capaldi, guitarist Dave Mason, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Wood. Traffic has long been noted as one of the major British psychedelic groups, whose music also borrowed from jazz and folk influences as well as rock and pop. Hit songs included "Paper Sun" and "Dear Mr. Fantasy." A brief hiatus from Traffic saw Winwood join forces with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grechin to form the short-lived, English rock supergroup "Blind Faith", who released a chart-topping album containing the hit song "Can't Find My Way Home." When this group disbanded in late 1969, Winwood returned to Traffic until they disbanded in 1974. Great songs by Traffic from this period include "Empty Pages" and "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys." Throughout his subsequent solo career, Steve Winwood has been much respected on both sides of the Atlantic as a vocalist, all-round musician, and regular collaborator with or session player for other artists.
I truly wish Stevie and the legendary Ms. Chaka Khan did more together! Their voices compliment each other SO amazingly! Like they were born to sing together!
Got to go back to the 60’s…and work your way forward. Steve has been a master musician since the age of 14! Two very important songs in Rock History: Dear Mr. Fantasy Can’t Find My Way Home
Check out his other great hit "Valerie" but the 1987 version it's sounds better than the original version from 1982... Trust me they both sound different because the first version it's just his keyboard and light instruments but in the 1987 he added drumbs and more... You won't be disappointed... Or test both and see which one you like best... Their both great
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite vocalists. He was a child prodigy. He wrote Gimme Some Lovin' as a kid. His voice at 13 sounded like Ray Charles. Amazing!
One of the great rock and roll voices of all time! He sang hits in the Spencer Davis Group, in Traffic, in the supergroup Blind Faith, and then as a solo artist.
Huey Lewis and the News Another popular band of that era. Hip to be Square Power of Love Heart of Rock and Roll Cruisin’ And my favorite, “Feeling Alright.”
This 80's version of Winwood is probably where most folks became familiar with him. But 20 years earlier, as a teenager, he saw success with the soulful Spencer Davis Group (I'm a Man, and Gimme Some Lovin"). In the 70's he moved on to Traffic (Low Spark of High Heeled Boys), and Blind Faith (Can't Find My Way Home). Through every turn, his distinctive voice was a constant and his second coming in the 80's was deservedly popular.
From his days with Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and as a solo superstar Winwood is a musical genius. He played piano on his dad's group when he was eight years old with his back to the audience. He was just filling in for a missing band member! Try Blind Faith, he wrote many songs and sang like a 70-year-old man when he was 15. You'll never forget him.
My husband and I saw him in concert many years ago and his daughter sang Chaka Khan’s part, she did a great job. He’s incredibly talented, he’s been performing since he was about ten years old. He can play numerous instruments, he’s especially proficient on keyboards, piano and Hammond B3 organ for instance, and is also an excellent guitar player. Check out Roll With It, Gimme Some Lovin’, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Dear Mr. Fantasy, Can’t Find My Way Back Home, I’m a Man, Valerie, all are great!
Steve Winwood. Legendary - he began with the Spencer Davis Group back in the mid-60s, a fifteen year old with a voice like Ray Charles. After that he founded Traffic, was a member of Blind Faith, and then a soloist. An incredible catalogue. Check out "Gimme Some Loving" (SDG), "Dear Mr Fantasy" (Traffic), "Can't Find My Way Home" (Blind Faith), and both "Night Train" and "Spanish Dancer" (solo).
OMG STEVE WINWOOD WAS A TEENAGER BACK IN THE MID 1960'S WHEN HE WAS LEAD VOCALIST FOR THE SPENCER DAVIS GROUP AND IN 67 THEY KNOCKED THE BEATLES FROM THE NUMBER1 SLOT WITH GIMMIE SOME LOVIN , BY 68 HE WAS LEADING THE BAND TRAFFIC . HE WAS A SESSION MUSICIAN AT 10 FLIPPIN YEARS OLD ...OMG AMAZING CAREER, PLAYED WITH CLAPTIN ALSO.
This song came from his 1986 album *Back in the High Life*. From the Spencer Davis Group in the middle 1960s to Blind Faith, Traffic, and his solo career, Winwood's rabbit hole is very deep. Check out some of his other hits: from Spencer Davis Group, "I'm A Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin'"; from Blind Faith (1969), "Can't Find My Way Home"; from Traffic, "Glad/Freedom Rider" and "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys"; and from his solo career, "While You See A Chance", "Spanish Dancer" (both from his album *Arc of A Diver* in 1980); "Valerie" and "Still in the Game" (both from his 1982 album *Talking Back to the Night*); "Split Decision" and "Freedom Overspill" (from *Back in the High Life*), and others.
Steve Winwood is a very talented British Singer/ Songwriter who has been showing his talents since 1964. A great Keyboards Player and Guitarist with a unique voice. He has played with some great Groups such as The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. He has a long list of notable music tracks!
One of the best soul voices of his generation. Listen to his young self in Spencer Davis group or for one of a similar vein listen to. In the Presence of the Lord from Blind Faith.
Goodness, where to begin. Steve became a professional musician at 14 with the band Spencer Davis Group. Went on to create two super groups Blind Faith and Traffic. This song is from his solo career. Not Tina, Chaka Khan. A real legend in the world of music.
Steve Winwood has had that amazing sound since he was a kid. Check out "Can't Find My Way Home". If you're lucky, you'll find a version where he's doing it with Eric Clapton on guitar.
Steve Winwood is my favorite musical artist. I like his Traffic era music. Dr. Mr. Fantasy, Low Spark Of Highheel Boys, Empty Pages, Freedom Rider, Many A Mile To Freedom. Btw, that is Chaka Kahn & Nile Rogers from Chic on guitar
I love this song (1986) and I love Steve Winwood’s voice! Chaka Khan (in the video, not Tina Turner) coming in on the vocals just takes the whole thing up a notch! Producer/musician Nile Rogers is also playing guitar in the band!❤❤
Love, love, love Steve Winwood. "Higher Love" is a favorite of mine. Check out my second fav - "Valerie". But really, any of Steve's songs are fantastic. As others have said, it's not Tina Turner in the video, it's Chaka Khan.
This reminds me of being little going on holiday in the back of my dad's car , he would play this on loop . Seen him live in the Bridgwater Hall , manchester uk with my dad before he passed and it always makes me think of my dad xx
Winwood was in several bands, starting at the age of 14. The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse & went solo in 1977.
Steve was in a band called "Spencer Davis Group" as a teenager and then bands called "Traffic" and "Blind Faith" . Check out "Gimme Some Lovin", "I'm a Man" and Can't Find My Way Home". Eric Clapton was also in Blind Faith.
Steve Winwood was always a favorite voice for me. I had forgotten about how wild this video was. Funky and Fine!!! Great reaction. Yes, I heard the distortion. Turned the song into "Give me a Higher Screech" !!!😱 Glad it wasn't in my phone though. Later Dude.....😊
Steve Winwood was a musical child prodigy. You seriously need to check out an old video of him singing Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out at age 15. This is man has a vast musical catalogue, Spencer Davis Group at 14, Blind Faith, Traffic. I hope you dive further into his music. I think you'll be amazed.
Steve has been in the game since he was 14. And around 16 he sang co-wrote the classic & iconic "Gimme Some Lovin", and "I'm a Man." (Which, he wasn't quite as yet... but now, he is definitely, The Man. )
His daughter, Lilly (Winwood), covered this song for Umbrella Academy (on Netflix). She did a fabulous job, and she made it into more of a ballad feel. You don't have to review it on here, but it's definitely worth a listen.
Hit up Valerie. You recently reacted to Jackson Browne who wrote That Girl Could Sing about Valerie Carter, whom Steve Winwood wrote Valerie about! Both great songs.
Steve Winwood was almost Stevie Wonder young, when he started in music biz. Incredible artist. This album is absolutely fabulous IIRC, he also had song featured on original Iron Eagle soundtrack
I have a great memory from about 1987 or 88 when some friends and I walked into a car stereo store and they had this song playing as a demo on some of their speakers. OMG! It was so memorable, the music was just amazing in full blown stereo sound!
Check out Arc of a Diver. Also he was with Traffic. They had lots of great songs. The super group, Blind Faith. His first hit was with The Spencer Davis Band. He was 13 at the time. Astounding voice.
Steve Winwood has had a long and brilliant career. Many others have already mentioned the various projects he's been in and some of his most famous songs. I think my favorite song from him is "Valerie," which might be from the same era (and perhaps even the same album) as this song. Could also be that song holds a special place for me because of a girl named Valerie who had my full attention during that era. LOL

Been a huge fan of Steve Winwood for many years ....the man is talent personified! 💖💖💖
Someone mentioned ROLL WITH IT - Definitely check that out - it’s a banger!!
My Steve Winwood favorites, Blind Faith, "Can't Find My Way Home" and Traffic, "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys".
"Dear Mr. Fantasy" is a great song too!
He's a musical genius! Check out "While You See a Chance"...it goes on the forever play list!
Love _Arc of A Diver_ got it on original vinyl along with _Back In The High Life_
_Night Train_ is such a JAM!
This song is what we need today!!
Everything about this is 80s - music, hair, dress, sound. Lots of radio play.
Split Decision, Valerie, Don’t you know what the night can do, while you see a chance, and roll with it are all excellent songs worth listening too
Gimme Some Loving- Spencer Davis Group- Teen age Steve Winwood
Steve Winwood is a very talented British Singer/ Songwriter who has been showing his talents since 1964. A great Keyboards Player and Guitarist with a unique voice. He has played with some great Groups such as The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. He has a long list of notable music tracks!
The man on the guitar....Nile Rodgers....the funkmaster....the hitmaker....hit that rabbit hole....you will thank me.
Hell yes! Steve Winwood is a friggin legend ❤ I'd highly recommend his epic song Valerie xxx
The opposite of love isn’t hate it is fear. Hate comes from fear. Love is the highest form of energy. Fear is the lowest form of energy🙏🏽☺️💖
Whaaat WHAT!!!
Beautiful song. Takes me back to being a kid listening to American top 40 on Sundays in the car with my folks
Steve Winwood has had that amazing sound since he was a kid. Check out "Can't Find My Way Home". If you're lucky, you'll find a version where he's doing it with Eric Clapton on guitar.
This is such a great song. Winwood was a vocalist for an Eric Clapton project I can't remember.
Blind Faith with Ginger Baker and Ric Grech.
A voice like no other
So lucky to have seen him in concert too lol.
One thing that makes Steve so incredible, is that his voice still sounds pretty much the same as it did way back in the mid 60s ❤
Steve was in a band called "Spencer Davis Group" as a teenager and then bands called "Traffic" and "Blind Faith" . Check out "Gimme Some Lovin", "I'm a Man" and Can't Find My Way Home". Eric Clapton was also in Blind Faith.
Great song from my childhood
Steve Winwood was always a favorite voice for me. I had forgotten about how wild this video was. Funky and Fine!!! Great reaction. Yes, I heard the distortion. Turned the song into "Give me a Higher Screech" !!!😱 Glad it wasn't in my phone though. Later Dude.....😊
Oh man… Chaka = gorgeous in my language. You gotta find some of her songs for your reactions. She’s ridiculously beautiful and her voice is amazing!
And around 16 he sang co-wrote the classic & iconic "Gimme Some Lovin", and "I'm a Man."
(Which, he wasn't quite as yet... but now, he is definitely, The Man. )
His daughter, Lilly (Winwood), covered this song for Umbrella Academy (on Netflix). She did a fabulous job, and she made it into more of a ballad feel. You don't have to review it on here, but it's definitely worth a listen.
My favorite Steve Winwood song is Can't Find My Way Home, the acoustic version.
Hit up Valerie. You recently reacted to Jackson Browne who wrote That Girl Could Sing about Valerie Carter, whom Steve Winwood wrote Valerie about! Both great songs.
Arc of a Diver is a phenomenal album. Winwood can play about any instrument you can throw at him.
Steve Winwood was almost Stevie Wonder young, when he started in music biz. Incredible artist. This album is absolutely fabulous IIRC, he also had song featured on original Iron Eagle soundtrack
High school graduation memories!
Should do " Gimme Some Lovin' " By The Spencer Davis Group when Steve Winwood was only 17 years old
Musical sevant.
I love "Roll with Me Baby"...great video.
Saw him on the 15th. 38 years later and he still sounds amazing!
I have a great memory from about 1987 or 88 when some friends and I walked into a car stereo store and they had this song playing as a demo on some of their speakers. OMG! It was so memorable, the music was just amazing in full blown stereo sound!
He's a great artist and even better live. You should try to find his Back in the High Life live.
Oh yeah he can sing. My favorite solo song of his is "Roll With It" (totally worth checking out--awesome horns, bluesy, danceable).
Check out Arc of a Diver. Also he was with Traffic. They had lots of great songs. The super group, Blind Faith. His first hit was with The Spencer Davis Band. He was 13 at the time. Astounding voice.
History does not change. It repeats.
Stevie is awesome saw him at the Filmore East with Traffic.
Do y’all realize the assembled “talent” on this joint?…..Amazing!
Roll with it, great tune!
LOL
Little Stevie back in the day, youngster at Woodstock.
