They will indeed work for rockcod buddy!! On the Betty G we pretty much used everything from sinkers with hooks to soup spoons!!! It was a blast seeing who could catch cod with the craziest thing.. enjoy my friend, your videos bring me joy in my battle with the big C🙏🤙💯❤️🐓
I introduced that jig decades ago . My dad used it for Big tuna in Mexico, when I showed it to my buddy's they laughed 😂. Now they see it works. - Eddie Fishtaco
I was thinking the same thing Phil. I’m going to make a couple for my next trip out of SF bay to the Farallon Islands. I think lingcod would gobble them up!
Think if this isn't the craziest year in the Pacific I don't know what it is. Just seen an article on flatheads and albacore in Oregon. Pretty amazing stuff
I just got back from a tuna trip on the ninth of this month and my friend was using one of those that he made, and he snagged three giant tuna and got them in
Side note… can you do a quick video on how to transport big tuna or a multitude of catches from the landing to let’s say… Huntington Beach or Ventura? I heard fresh water ice melt is no bueno for salt water game.
@@FriedmanAdventuresPodcast that would be helpful as heck for a lot of us! Especially, with the processors being so backed up. I’m going through the rabbit hole researching kill bags and finding unbiased reviews are just making it worse than I started haha it’s frustrating. What should someone really be looking for in a quality insulated bag that won’t leak juices all over the interior of a vehicle? Thanks for the response and your time. Hope everything’s going well for you big dog🙏🏼
Here in NZ we use saltwater flake ice to keep the catch in. Make a slurry with the flake ice and some saltwater and you will taste the difference in the fish when its eaten. Firms the flesh up way better than party ice, plus the flake ice can last up to 9 days in the right cooler/esky/chillybin. Freshwater or party ice will never get to the temp a saltwater flake ice slurry can drop to.
The guy misunderstands the reason people are using it. We use it when the wind or current is ripping. We can fish a lighter sinker and get down to the zone faster, without getting scooped out. The rig has rationale behind it. This isn’t a novelty, you just don’t understand the reasoning.
It's not new we did this 40 years ago Two things make Shure you use solid wire thru the lead and a trick I used to do was to smash the lead flat and put a bend in it like a banana and pin a squid head on the hook and fish it like a flat fall killer on any thing that swim's and eats squid any way make Shure the weights have thru wire as a lot of those weights only have a little brass braid cast into each end and will fail and it is very dangerous to have a chunk of lead flying at your head when it does🤑☠️☠️☠️☠️
This is so stupid. Sick of people buying the hyped up BS. BFT at night will bite just about anything you put in front of it. Never had a problem hooking up with my knife jigs so why change what works? By all means go to your local tackle shop and pay $50 for a chunk of lead with some hooks, I'm sure that small business appreciates your money.
I know when I visit Sam I always learn something. I’m impressed with Sam’s customer service 👍👍
So am I. Really a great shop.
Sam’s the man! That’s my local tackle-shop. Sam and the whole staff will get you squared away… tight lines! 🎣
Love Sam

Let’s do it Sergio
Hope you're doing well Sergio keep fighting the strong fight brother !
Definitely you will save Cause you just spent little bit more at first for all that tools. That is what I'd been looking for. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching my friend. Really appreciate all of your support.
Hey, the bell shaped sinkers and the KB jigs way out-fished everything on my last 3day trip (7/16-19) aboard the Vagabond!

Great idea, and you can use those shrink wrap skinz on the sinker, it would look like a fancy jig
I really like that idea. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea…. WAS …. Not in the tackle box before…. NEW TO THE FISH…. CLEVER!!
Thank you Glen

Me too Matt
The original my dad used for day Jigging had a white squid skirt over it. Deadly day or night. The jig is like 500 years old 😂😂
What size treble hook are those?
I made one a few months back when they only ate the torpedo off my sinker rigs lol
I’m going to fish it in a couple weeks on my next trip haha
Get em
Only question I have is... Are those sinkers rated to catch big tunas?
Sam, De La Torre says he thinks they will hold up on Big Fish.
Think if this isn't the craziest year in the Pacific I don't know what it is. Just seen an article on flatheads and albacore in Oregon. Pretty amazing stuff
Crazy year Brandon
I just got back from a tuna trip on the ninth of this month and my friend was using one of those that he made, and he snagged three giant tuna and got them in
I'll try it with a glow painted sinker.
Can’t wait to hear more
I just caught a 165 pound BFT on a bomber rig
That is a nice one Mark. Congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing.
I'm only able to get, like 3 jigs. Which ones would you recommend?
I think I would go with a Tady 45, a yo-yo style iron and a 400 gram knife jig
😂 A cedar plug has caught me many tuna & this could be no different!
What size treble hook
Side note… can you do a quick video on how to transport big tuna or a multitude of catches from the landing to let’s say… Huntington Beach or Ventura? I heard fresh water ice melt is no bueno for salt water game.
That is such a great idea; will follow up on it. Thank you

Many years ago I showed the same rig. And for day Jigging with a skirt on it.
Some people just laugh.
I wonder if they remember me now 😀 😃
You were ahead of your time Eddie
The "Joker Rig"
100%
You know what have been great? Identifying all the sizes you are using. Hooks, sleeves, ect
You can also powder paint coat those torpedo sinkers or paint them with that cheapo nail polish they sell at dollar stores.
Thanks for sharing
What size hooks and rings?
Great report. Is it a novelty or real. Didn’t answer the question.
Time will tell
Can you put bait on this rigs?
Don't see why not. Pin a squid on the trebles.
Sure. Not sure how it would work but let’s try it.
How about a shinning that weight up with 600 grit for alittle more “ATTRACTIVE “
Great idea
Shawn Cliffs
You could probably get away with hammering it to a shape and paint it too🤔
Absolutely

Thanks for sharing my friend
add a glow in the dark grub
Love It
Put some electrical tape around the lead and safety line.
Really great advice. Thanks for sharing my friend.
I caught a whopper on one
They work, right?
@FriedmanAdventuresPodcast shockingly yes. They must eat anything that gets dropped on their head. At least a cedar plug has action
Where’s the tuna rig
How can I help you Greg?

Thank you so much for sharing
How much did you pay for your knife jig? Because that’s pretty much what your jig is, a chunk of weight with hooks.
the fishing companies are swimming in money.selling these nonsensical expensive lures.theres a sucker born every minute.
