What do all the numbers and letters mean for Taddy and Salas? They have 100 different types of jigs but no explanation on what the difference is aside from some are “yoyo” jigs and others are “surface irons”
Different actions, max line weight, max line retrieval, size.
Each different number/letter for heavy and light irons, are different size and style lures. Tady C is a much smaller lure than a Tady 45 or Starman 112.
Each size and shape will give off its own action. Sometimes the fish want a slower style action, and sometimes they want a more fast/erratic style action!
Always important to understand what each lure can do in the water for these very reasons!
Speaking of Phenix, I just picked up an Axis 720X3H today to pair with my HX Raptor for my 80lb and pinch 60 or light 100. Absolutely love the pull on it, and I can still fling sardines if I need to
Perfect sinker rig and heavy fly line set up!
I love the axis series rods, definitely one of my favorites with phenix.
Nice insight. Learned some thangs 🤙 tight lines brobro
Glad we were able to do this one, I learned a lot myself!
Very nice video. Not a pro, but fish the Sea Of Cortez every winter for 4 months when I hit Los Cabos to escape the crazy Canadian winters. I've caught 2 Black Striped Marlin and a whole bunch of my targeted favorite fish Dorado (Mahi Mahi). Point being there is Yellowfin tuna there, but I've never tried to catch one but want to try. Thanks for the expert tips! You guys really know your stuff #Subscribed
Really appreciate the feedback, thank you!
Yeah Cesar is a wealth of knowledge. I’m really glad he was willing to take the time out of his day to help film a video like this
Forgive me but at 7 min 22 sec you said shimano current sniper. It looks like my shimano orcas
Am I wrong? I googled current sniper & see a colt sniper thpe jig.
Never mind I found the jerkbait
Sorry for the late response, but yes the current sniper series (Colt Sniper), comes in metal jigs, jerkbaits, and stickbaits!
Great video Ray! Super info on the iron & the Orca tip. One lure that I’m adding to my next BFT/YFT trip in November are Vibes, looking forward to trying both Natureboys Tetsuwan & Yo-Zuri Speedvibes. Also I can verify that Yellowtail LOVE Riptides. Riptides in 155mm size are a confidence lure for me but I have caught at least 10 fish on straight retrieves with short pauses at Cedros Island.
Been seeing those new Natureboys, look pretty cool! Good to know about the riptides. I remember seeing you had one tied one acouple times at the lodge, was wondering how it produced for you
Last time I was on a good yellowfin bite I caught one using a Halco 130, threw it out and burned it back as fast as I could. Was a lot of fun.
Nice! Those halcos are also great search baits for trolling too!
That is what I call a FISHING MASTER!!! Thank you Cesar!!!
Such a wealth of knowledge! stoked he was willing to take the time to share this info!
Cesar knows what he's talking about. About a year ago he helped me fix a Japanese shimano scorpion DC 151
Cesar is a wealth of knowledge!
That’s awesome, super helpful how much he knows about reel maintenance. He’s just an all around fishing encyclopedia lol
Cesar is a lure master.
Such a wealth of knowledge!
Hi Cesar, Fat-T check in
Great video! I do disagree though at 7:50 mark. I think the inline single work just as good - I keep the trebles when fishing YT and rock singles for tuna. But either works, can't go to a 2/0 treble because it messes up the action bad. Has to be 1/0.
Good to know about the inline singles, thanks Bryan. I do agree on trebles, 1/0 is the biggest size for these jerkbaits
Great stuff Ray. Cesar is a wealth of info. The breakdown; physics, and fish/pelagic behavior is fantastic
Thank you! Really glad Cesar was willing to take the time to break this all down, so much great info in this video!
@@Dirty.Hookers these have been great vids. This guy has an insane depth of knowledge, glad he's so open to share!
@@jiminoc so happy Cesar is willing to take the time to share with the rest of us! I have learned so much picking his brain over the past short year that I’ve known him
Solid video, teaches you how to use each jig and reels to use! Keep up the bad ass content!
Thanks brotha! Glad Cesar was able to take some time out of his day to touch base on this topic for the rest of us!
Great content. Thank you both
Thanks you, much appreciated!
I put inline hooks on all of my current snipers and they swim perfectly fine. However I did go smaller on the hooks
Inline hooks work great too!
I truthfully do think it’s all personal preference how people want to fish them.
Trebles, more hook ups, but fish can twist off. Inline, less hook ups, but better connection when you do get a solid hook up
Is a daiwa BGMQ 8000 spin reel able to handle 30-50lb tuna?
Yes it should I landed a 30 pounder this weekend on a bg 5000 in 7 min
Yes, a 8000 is more than capable for fish up to 50lbs.
I'm a private boater, new to SoCal, and haven't had the opportunity to be on top of fish to get lures to them. That means i need more time on the water :P
A lot of our yellowfin are either sighted by surface breezing or jumping fish, or marking deeper on the fish finder and chum them up.
Private boat, best luck is gonna be visual fishing. Keeping your eyes peeled for any kind of surface activity. Like I mentioned, breezing fish and jumping fish, or also foamers, kelp paddies, and any other kind of floating debris or signs of fish.
When r u posting that knew footage seems dope
Hopefully start putting up some of the recent trips video some time this week.
A lot of footage to go through.
I had a tarpon bite my chrome A1 last week in Florida. He jumped and threw it back at me
Dang that’s so cool you stuck one! Bummer it came off. I’ve noticed with fish that jump, it is pretty difficult to keep them pinned on the surface iron or yo-yos.
A lot of metal and weight they can easily throw around with a single jump.
The look you gave when he said you need to sweep 😂
Lol my eyes were going crazy trying to visualize the action
Wow great video
Where is he located
Eric’s Tackle Shop is located in Ventura California.
2127 E Thompson Blvd, Ventura Ca, 93001
🤟Great video. Just had a question though. I always heard that 60g-120g reflective flat falls were a go-to for yft but nobody really talks about them on tackle tackle talks. Also is it because they fall below the top feeding fishing that they usually get bit by yft vs dorado on top? 🤔
More gems to take in. Thanks.
Always happy to help. I have a whole playlist on my channel titled “Tackle Talks” if you’re inter in checking out more!
it would have been nice if he had talked rods. phenix black diamond 869h, what about a 869h-xf??
Ask your phenix rod friend if he would take me fishing
Lol I need to fish with him first before someone else does
Great video, any idea on using a swivel on these lures or should they be tied on?
No swivels. Braid tied to leader with a connection knot and lure tied straight to your leader.
If you want to do a swivel above the lure to reduce line twists, you can, but i person haven’t have much of an issue myself
Great question and answer
My best day on yellowfin was on a popper so much fun!
So much fun on the popper! Never gets old watching them blow up on it!
The only two I ever use are the colt sniper and the clear popper
Lol same, and that’s just because it’s what everyone else uses and has luck on them. Kinda why I wanted to touch base on different lures and techniques
Thanks gentlemen 👍
Happy to get this one out! Glad Cesar was able to take the time for this one, I definitely learned a lot
Awesome video, I learned a lot.We need a part 2 with Cesar.
Learned so much, so glad he was willing to take the time to touch base on this subject!
This is technically a part 2, he did a bft jigging seminar that I filmed about 3 months ago. Here’s the link.

Oh yea tell him he definitely needs to take me fishing
Gotta get in line lol

He does, yes. Has a lot of different styles of bass trix
