Man if I had the money brother I would. I'm a stay at home Dad watching fish channel hahaha
As I am a complete newbie to fish keeping hobby so was just wondering how to treat for intestinal parasites etc. for small tropical freshwater fish which are around only 2cm- 4cm being the largest size in my 18.5-20 US Gallon fish tank or 70 litre which I have.
As I had my firsh tank/ aquarium set up for over 1 year or around 1.5 years doing fishless cycling method and having growing out some live plants using Fritz Zyme 7 live nitrifying bacteria and for natural ammonia using Fritz zyme fishless fuel. According to my local pet store/ fish store they said my fish tank water was very well cycled and very good consistent water parameters except that my water PH being slightly high at 7.6 and also quite high water hardness but other than that completely good.
I have quite a lot of live beginner aquarium plants covering nearly my whole aquarium and the fish I have are 5 small red cherry barbs, 2 bright and wonderful Yellow Honey Gourami and 2 beautiful black/ greyish colour Dwarf Suckermouth Catfish/ Otto which are very much like plecos (Latin name: Otocinclus. sp.) As they only tend to stick to the sides of my glass fish tank or on top of ornaments or my live plants.
As for regarding health generally majority of the fish look very nice, vibrant colour and swimming around well however one of the red Cherry barb is looking quite sluggish or at least down at the bottom of the fish tank by himself and not eating much mostly unlike the other community fish or possibly something red sticking out of it's underside belly lile bloat possibly??? I have also one of catfish I noticed strangely just started yesterday white stringy poop coming out as it was swimming around which if correct according to my research/ knowledge is obvious sign of intestinal parasites etc. Other than that all my other fish such as my 2 Yellow Honey Gourami are completely fine and seem to be very healthy and doing very well, looking fine and eating well etc.
Any useful information/ tips and advice would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. As obviously unlike in this wonderful UA-cam video I obviously can't treat fish individually by taking them out of the fish tank and lying them flat on a towel etc. as my fish are way too small. Also unfortunately as I don't have enough money I only have 1 fish tank so no other separate fish tank to use as a hospital tank to treat the fish that maybe looking sick in my opinion individually.
As recommended by Kaveman Aquatics UA-cam channel I have been using since I bought my fish (not bought all at once obviously) using Seachem stability and Seachem Prime and Seachem Flouish Advance for my live plants.
Thank you,
Kind regards,
Tom from UK.
What do you use to edit your videos?? I like all your movie quotes. Where do you find them all??
Can I use Ich X and Paraguard together?? I believe my quarantine tank has ICH!
You not only explain everything clearly and are very informative with your solutions, but I have to say you're video editing/production is awesome! Thanks for all you do!
Wow thank you! Glad you're enjoying the channel! 😁💪
Couldn't agree more! Kevin just curious.. with the bio load that you have how often do you clean your filters? Do you wait until you see a reduction in flow rate only?
And super entertaining! 🎉
Hey I'm just gunna say, if u had an hour long video explaining each virus with symptoms and prevention.. I'd watch it just like I've watched almost every other video on your channel!
I would second this suggestions also. Please do the hour long video.
That would be more like a 3 hour video! 🤣 But definitely worth consideration 💪
Yes, please do bc I'm at a loss w my goldfish tank right now😭. All my fish keep getting sick repeatedly over the last month. When I googled symptoms it could be all sorts of things. Doing salt works great at first but the symptoms always come back. I began using melafix but I'm scared to continue bc they're getting worse and fast.
@@crazyratlady3438 have you tried methylene blue?
Kev, being as the Green/Blue Slime is a bacteria I'll put this here. I had both of my 55 gals. Cichlid tanks hit with this Slime. At first, I thought it was algae but soon learned what it really was. I dissolved 3 , 500 mg. Amoxicillin tablets in water and added it to my tank and let it sit, covered and in darkness, for 2 days. The fish and everything stayed in the tank. At the end of the first two days, I did a massive water change, approx. 75 to 80 % and then added 1500 mg. of Amoxicillin again., covered the tank, and waited two more days, and then another massive water change. At this point in time the Slime started to disappear like magic. there wasn't much Slime left on anything in my tank and my tank appeared as clean as ever. Meanwhile, my fish were doing fine. After the last water change when my tank was clear I did another massive water change and added carbon to my filter to get the meds out of my tank so I could get my Nitrogen Cycle restarted.Twice now this has worked for me and it takes a lot of manual work of removing the Slime away because it seems to melt away and disappear. It's been 4 months since my first tank was cleared this way and there are no signs of Slime returning anywhere in it.
Most comprehensive and most accurate video ever!!!!! And I'm a doctor so, seriously, I am very critical of medications and diseases, but NOWHERE in the video did I ever say.. "Hmm.. I don't think so." You're sooooo cool, Mr. Kaveman!!
The problem is fish vet is not that common.. so we GOTTA be our fish's doctor ourselves. Its a testament of how much we care for them
Hey Kev, maybe you can make 1 video for each meds, focus and go all in depth on the med, what it does, how strong is the meds, what does it cure and how to use etc.. I think thats a good idea because i like the way you explain, very basic and straight to the point!
That may be a great idea. I will look into that for sure 💪
yes please!!
I second this idea. Great video on meds btw !
Kev, you have done an amazing job on your production quality and presentation. You should be so proud. Great job. Here for the great information!
Thank you very much! I Appreciate that positive feedback 😊😊
DUDE , you save my life with this video, Thanks 🙏🏼, all the questions I have for my fishies it’s here !!!! Like I said YOU ROCK !!!!!
lol My pleasure bro! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
Dude...your videos are super informative and straightforward. You made one mistake in this video though....you said if you went into depth it would be over an hour long and no one would watch that. Not true at all! I know I would!
If I ever need advise or stuck I always turn to your videos! Thanks bro!
🤣🤣 Thats good to know bro, lol Thank you!!
Hey Kev! I'm in the UK and I also absolutely stick with Seachem products thanks to YOU! I started watching your videos and you are now my go-to source of information on anything to keep my fushies happy. Ive learned so much from you - THANK YOU! X
That puffer has my dying laughing dude thanks for the video!!! I’m new to the aquarium scene. I have a year old angelfish as well as three upside down catfish I did have a bass of shark and a rare clown Paco. Sadly, I ended up getting a beta and I have separation screens in my tank, which is 150 gallon tank. I have it divided into 50 gallons. Then another 50 and 50. So each fish has 50 gallons, the beta had ick and gave all my fish shit so I’m now battling that using the super ick cure as well as slime coat and stress coat protection. As well as aquarium salt and a little bit of garlic. I also raise the temperature to 84° gradually. I’ll probably come edit and update this post in a little bit.

Thanks for this video Kev! Unfortunately, I'm battling a case of columnaris, that I initially misdiagnosed and treated for a fungus instead. It's been an awful ordeal with mortality and am heartbroken seeing my fish suffer. I've ordered kanaplex and strongly believe to be on the right track thanks to you.
So glad I could help. Remember that kanaplex can be fed too and may help 😊
Wish i could smash that "LIKE " button a thousand times, coz it is the best video and tutorial for all Hobbyists EVER
Thanks, this is the best video on medications I've seen. This is such a confusing topic and you made it easy!
Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful! 😁
I use general cure mixed in the food with seachem nourish And Ich x together . I even had to use prazi pro a few times before the general cure . I had a nasty internal parasite problem that took months to get rid of . Fish were literally having the life sucked out of them . Happy to say they are finally getting healthy again
Glad to hear you found what worked for you! these parasites can be tricky at times! 😊💪
Love your channel!
Great personality and I love that I have a heavy focus on the new comers while proving simple straight to the point terms... So glad I found your channel.. thank you🙏❤️
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
@@KaveManAquatics helpful, very... But I have mixed feelings of how beneficial it is... Sure it rammed jammed with great content which if definitely beneficial but it's a blessing and a curse... I stay up all night watching your vids and then have to drag my butt around work all day🤣
Benifits my tank, kills the rest of me. Lol
Great video Kev!! You are the reason I got back into fish keeping!! So MUCH helpful information!!! Thanks brother!!
Thank you bro! Love to hear that feedback 😁
This is great information and I'm thankful that none of my fish have gotten parasites or anything way worse. The only thing I ever had to deal with twice in my lifetime in the hobby it was dealing with ick and it was easy to deal with within a week
Glad you enjoyed it shadowolf!! 😊💪
This video is SO helpful! I've watched it 10 times and have learned so much. I love Seachem products, but there are so many that it's overwhelming. Thank you!
Been into freshwater but just jumped into malawi cichlids...you helped so much all the way through..keep it up man
Thank you! Glad you're finding the channel helpful! 😁💪
I've just joined up cuz I love your videos! I'm a new fish person, I took some discus in for a friend who was moving, and you have helped so much with this scissor sharp learning curve. My fishies have developed a new thing though, and it's scaring me. It started with one, he leans sideways and starts shaking his head back and forth really fast, as seen in horror movies, just not as fast. He still eats when I feed them, though sometimes doesn't come up to get it from my hand like the rest do. It lasts a few seconds, and happens anywhere from every few seconds to a few times an hour. Sometimes after a particularly bad episode he just lays at the bottom, leaning heavily on the side of the tank. I've watched all of your sick fish videos, and haven't been able to find anything like this. Now two more have started this behavior, what the heck is going on???? Their poop looks good, water parameters in check, regular water changes, no spots or flashing but they do like pretty miserable :(
Hey Debora...for some reason your comment was in the spam section...sorry I missed it.
So as a beginner I recommend never saying "water Parameters n check" or any other variation of that. There are many parameters to consider and in order for anyone to help, either here or in forums, or even in my facebook group, we need to know those exact parameters. Like Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, temperature, Hardness, phosphates, silicates...all of those matter. 😊
You are the man! Great video on a somewhat complicated topic. Thank you for putting out fun, fast-paced, yet informative videos.
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful. 😊

Treating ich currently!! Ich x and hogher temps, even a luttle bit of aquarium salt to help. So stressful
This is a super comprehensive video and well detailed and explained all infectious and cure for the most fish disease, kudos man you rock 👍
Thank you bro! Glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! 😊
Watching this was pure entertainment, always learning something new.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! 😁💪
After more then 3 weeks of quarantine.. 3 days ago is when I finally start seeing signs of internal Parasites.. and possibly ich.. good thing I was already planning to keep them in quarantine for 2 months.
Nice! Great catch! 💪 While ich is terrible it's also fairly easy to treat.
This is such a great and informative video, I've been keeping fish for almost twenty years but learnt a lot from this. Generally I focus on regular water changes, will quarantine noticeably ill fish and use Metaflix when anyone looks like they could be ill.
‘’Eat food like it’s medicine Or you will end up eating medicine like it’s food ‘’ 👀 👀
Yes sirrr
You’re the man bro. I recently had a fish that passed my all black angelfish . I took him to my local pet store and they told me it was due to bloat that there was nothing I could’ve done and that it wasn’t my fault still feels like I let him down. What could I have done different, what are the causes of bloat and the remedies. Highly appreciate ya time
This was so helpful!! My honey gourami has a Bactria problem and i had no idea what it was a first then i found this video! Thank you for making this.
Hi uncle . I love your channel . Thanks for sharing beautiful information unlike other channels which share boring stuff
lol my pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
Hi. I just came across of your videos. I must say, as a new guy on the "game" I found your inf very informative. Thank you very for videos. Keep up the good work

@@KaveManAquatics cool. Thx
Love this video, the only Medication not mentioned from seachem was sulfaplex, there's not much info about it, is it because it's just a milder version of there other Medications?
Love you videos and learning with my new fishes, one betta, 4 tetras, one horse face lochi and 4 Cory catfish one died and I don’t know why. My betta is lethargic so I place him in a small tank with Epsom salt for 15 minutes. Hope he gets better. His fins are a bit weird, but when my husband and I purchased him he had his fins a bit weird. Help! I told my husband to buy fin rot meds just in case.
Hey man, just want to start off by saying I have learned almost everything I know from you. I appreciate your content and it really helps. I woke up this morning to one of my peacocks looking very out of it and his fins looked rough. I came home from work and he had an eye missing and was severely sick. I just euthanized him and my water parameters are pretty close to perfect. I don't know what could have caused this and what I should be looking out for to make sure my other 22 fish stay healthy as they are. Thanks and I appreciate anything you have to say
Sorry to hear that bro! Sometimes it can be as simple as a physical injury. Could have scraped his eye on a piece of decor, or gotten into a fight while you weren't looking. If there's no other signs of disease in the tank I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. Just keep a close eye on everyone for a while.
Great video Kev. A lot of meds I didn't even know about. Like always thanks for all the info.
Thank you bro! Glad you're finding the channel helpful! 😁💪
Kevin thank you for posting this. Your video gave me goosebumps. Exactly the video i was hoping for a channel to post! Definitely something I would be watching several times in the future. Thanks for dumbing it down for us. I’m a big fan!

Im so blessed that i found a very informative video.. i have a 2 flowerhorn, 1 have a something like bubble in his head, one has no appetite his head gets drop.. theres no white poof so i cant say it is a hexamita.. can i ask what i need to do??

Awesome video, I feel like a vet after watching this 😅😅.
The video caters for some of us that don't have access to multiple medications.
Glad you enjoyed it Julz! 😊

This is a lifesaver for me. Thanks 👍🏾
Your tips helped get rid of all algae in my tank👍🏾
Glad I could help! 😁💪
Very nice! I have mostly API meds at home but IL have to stock up on some seachem as well. BTW i watched your video on 2x speed and i was still able to understand every word you spoke. Love it when I can do that with long videos. Doesn't always work though because sometimes the UA-camr has slurred speech.
Wow first time I heard of someone doing that...Glad my speech was good enough for it 🤣🤣🤣
How do I remove carbon from HOB filter without compromising good bacteria when applying kanaplex? I use marineland right size E and C that have carbon built in. Do I just cut open the back and shake carbon out? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I was wondering the same thing! My HOB has chemical filtration built in, right?
Bro you are awesome.
This is an excellent medicine.
After following your vids, I'm using these things
1. Matrix
2. Prime
3. Stability
4. Purigen
5. Metroplex + Focus
6. Garlic Guard
I have 4 Oscars and 4 parrot in my 9 feet x 2 x 2 feet tank
My feeding schedule is 6 days a weekand 1 day fasting for these fishes.
I feed them twice a day with HUMPY HEAD, RED SYN, TUBIFEX WORMS, SHRIMP E, HIKARI food.
Am i missing something?
Please advise 🙏🏼
I use 3 Fluval Fx6, loaded with Matrix and Purigen.
I don't use activated carbon.

😮 whoa.... phenomenal video.....Tons of information made easy.....great vid sir👍
I have been fish keeping for a long time and I can tell you that I don't have any aquarium medications. I have never needed them, I have never had an outbreak in any of my tanks. Mind you I do go to great lengths to make sure I never need them. I find it useless to chase symptoms when you should be dealing with causes, I concentrate on prevention and that has kept me from having to treat. I will let you in on a secret, stress, control stress in your tanks at all cost. Control stress from bad environmental conditions, stress from other fish. controlling stress is the key my friends. Cheers!
100% agree, prevention is key!! Unfortunately, for many, their fish still get sick, and when they do knowing what to use and what not to use is vital information. Thats why I made this video.
@@KaveManAquatics
Oh I totally agree with you and think this is important information that new fish keepers absolutely need to know. Good aquarium medications are hard to come by here in Canada which forced me to concentrate on prevention. It's concentrating on prevention that made me realize that prevention is the key. I thought your video was a good one with valid and credible information. I have no problem with your content, it is a topic that needs to be discussed and addressed. I was just commenting on my experience and not the nature of your video. Sorry if I made it sound like this is not an important topic. Oh and by the way, you have great looking tanks with beautiful fish. Your doing it right my friend.
Something id like to add about ich treatment... once the ich has "fallen off" it can be gravel vac'd out, you just have to really do a good job. Ive treated ich this way a few times, no meds or salt AT ALL. And youll probably already be upping WCs at that point anyways. Meds on top of that... almost a sure thing to work.
Totally agree!
Thank you. This video was extremely helpful. I am ordering some of these meds just to have. Thank you again. 💛💛💛💛
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
I'm new to this hobby and I just recently got a fish and introduced it to my tank the next day it was scratching itself on the substrate. I'm gonna try using your methods. Hope I use the rite meds
Hi Kev I recently joined your page because I always find your information so helpful today. I need your help worse than ever. I have a goldfish who’s upside down and I’m trying desperately to save her. She was near dead but now she’s back to life but she can’t seem to get herself right side up to swim. My goldfish tank got sick prior to this and I lost several fish. She was one of the lone survivors her and another one but recently this tank begin to seem sick again right now I have her in a hospital tank with her boyfriend, she cannot turn right side up to save her life. Please help I don’t wanna lose this girl.
That sounds like swim bladder disease and unfortunately its usually a death sentence. Sorry I'm only getting to this comment 2 days later but it may be too late already. If i'm wrong the best medicine for this is super clean and pristine water conditions and very very low stress environment, meaning she should be alone. But like I said...they usually dont recover from this. Good luck!
Great video Kev
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the channel! 😁💪
My betta hasn't ate in over a week. I have Polygaurd and Metroplex. Not sure what to use. Parameters look okay. Temp is kept at 80. I've tried pellets, frozen bloodworms, flakes and daphnia.
I gave him an Epsom salt bath last night. No change.
Bro you make the best vids. I have a fish not eating right now so this was perfect!!
Thank you bro, glad I could help! 😊
Keep vids coming !!! You rock man !!!
Thank you bro, will do!! 😊
This is a very informative video, professionally edited. You didn't really need the comedy relief it's easy to follow, even for beginners. (I have over 20 years of experience) When you say good stuff nobody should complain about the length.
Thank you sir! I try to add in a bit of comedy for those with very short attention span 🤣

Not in every water change...but maybe 1 per month as a preventative would work well 😊 Check this out...tell me what you think of this - ua-cam.com/channels/iRqagL1_6oKgRxOPs3GfqQ.html
Great information and great humor Merci
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Excellent presentation.
Glad you liked it my bro! 😁
Which medication must be used to de-worm the Arowana? is regular deworming required?
I was not expecting the pufferfish clip 😂😂
Nah frl 😂😂😂
I use Ich X and prazipro together to deal with almost everything!
Metro treats the more common hexamita internal parasites, but prazipro is great for the other less common internal worms 👍
hello master..
i lost my 9 goldfish today..
it all started when i shifted them in a cold water with out heater to remove few anchor worms which they got when i added one gold fish from market with out quarentine..
i guess they got coldshock during shifting..they set in the bottom of tank for last 4days with out moving and eating ..
i tried my best with heater , adding salt & antistress medications but day by day they keep on dying one by one.. and today i lost all of them..it was my first time with aquarium hobby..
i searched youtube how to revive goldfish which set at bottom of tank..but no informative video i got..
today i am very sad that no aqaurium hobiest uploaded a single informative video on this importnt topic for which i lost all my goldies..
even lukes goldie channel has never covered this importnt topic..
so i request you master to upload a video on it..
how to revive if fish sets at bottom of your tank..
i hope you will feel my pain master..
#💗from🇮🇳😓
Sorry for your loss, but that cold shock will kill them. I'm surprised they survived 4 days. Just learn from this experience so it never happens again. Sometimes we all learn the hard way.
Can you make more on these types of videos?
Best video yet!!!
Thanks 😁 Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the videos, they have helped me out tremendously. One thing I haven't seen in your videos is light settings. I have they nicrew led light, what settings do you have yours set at.
My nicrew light doesnt really have settings, just on and off, if I remember correctly. Don't use that one anymore.
For quarantine fish, you had mentioned using the combination of paraguard & metroplex. Do you dose metroplex to the aquarium or by feeding along with focus ?
Feeding Metroplex with focus is the BEST way to get them the meds. But during quarantine, when just automedicating as a precaution, Dosing Metro and Paraguard directly into the tank water will still get the job done. 😁💪
This is a great video Kev! Very useful as I have had some losses lately . In your opinion, what type of infection can a firefish have if he has many black inky small spots on him . He seems fine with them for a long time and others don’t got them but I would really address the issue but don’t know with what.
Thats tough, I've never seen anything like that so unfortunately, I cant help. Sorry bro
Yes i have found out any temp of 87 will kill ich , i had it at 89 for one week ! Done !
Yup, perfect!
Great information bro keep up the great videos 👍
Hey Kev, Any medication for treating swim bladder? Tried fasting and feeding peas but haven't worked... any suggestions? Can I use Kanaplex for swim bladder issue
Another great and informative video 📹 👍
How did you get that Rockwall/Driftwood background in your Tank/where did you get it?
Can I please ask where you get those amazing backgrounds in your tanks? Are they self made? Are they photo realistic backdrops that stick to the back of the tank or inside? I want! 🙏🏼🌹
All my backgrounds are from aquadecorbackgrounds.com Tell them KaveMan sent you, lol Also use code Kaveman10 at checkout for a 10% discount 😊
@@KaveManAquatics thank you 🙏🏼 I think they’re mesmerising!
Much needed content. Great video.
Thank you bro! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
we want MORE content !!!
LET"Z GO!
lol on it my bro! 😊💪
What about tiger barbs pooping white and stringy I use tetra shrimp flakes
Thank you for the great video Kev. Would you consider doing a pleco/scaleless fish only medication video as i understand that not all medications are suitable for them? Thank u😊
Yes you are right. You have to be careful with all meds when it comes to scaleless fish. Dont use any of the strong stuff, just the mild stuff, like ParaGuard, general cure and metroplex. I'll try to get a video like this on my list 😊
@@KaveManAquatics awesome.... thank you once again Kev 💯
Great video Kev!!
Thanks bro! 😊
You're right!!! you're right!! how'd you know I wanted to know about what stressed fish looks like😂
What's up Kev. Great video. I have a 75-gallon with about 20-25 cichlids. I have metroplex, focus, and kanaplex. Many of them have these issues. Do I have to put it in the food or can I just put it directly into the tank and let them breathe it in? I don't use carbon.
Do we dose the QC couple for the whole quarantine period?
I would dose it for the entire first week. If no signs of disease then continue the quarantine without it. EXCELLENT QUESTION!
