As I am a complete newbie to fish keeping hobby so was just wondering how to treat for intestinal parasites etc. for small tropical freshwater fish which are around only 2cm- 4cm being the largest size in my 18.5-20 US Gallon fish tank or 70 litre which I have.
As I had my firsh tank/ aquarium set up for over 1 year or around 1.5 years doing fishless cycling method and having growing out some live plants using Fritz Zyme 7 live nitrifying bacteria and for natural ammonia using Fritz zyme fishless fuel. According to my local pet store/ fish store they said my fish tank water was very well cycled and very good consistent water parameters except that my water PH being slightly high at 7.6 and also quite high water hardness but other than that completely good.
I have quite a lot of live beginner aquarium plants covering nearly my whole aquarium and the fish I have are 5 small red cherry barbs, 2 bright and wonderful Yellow Honey Gourami and 2 beautiful black/ greyish colour Dwarf Suckermouth Catfish/ Otto which are very much like plecos (Latin name: Otocinclus. sp.) As they only tend to stick to the sides of my glass fish tank or on top of ornaments or my live plants.
As for regarding health generally majority of the fish look very nice, vibrant colour and swimming around well however one of the red Cherry barb is looking quite sluggish or at least down at the bottom of the fish tank by himself and not eating much mostly unlike the other community fish or possibly something red sticking out of it's underside belly lile bloat possibly??? I have also one of catfish I noticed strangely just started yesterday white stringy poop coming out as it was swimming around which if correct according to my research/ knowledge is obvious sign of intestinal parasites etc. Other than that all my other fish such as my 2 Yellow Honey Gourami are completely fine and seem to be very healthy and doing very well, looking fine and eating well etc.
Any useful information/ tips and advice would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. As obviously unlike in this wonderful UA-cam video I obviously can't treat fish individually by taking them out of the fish tank and lying them flat on a towel etc. as my fish are way too small. Also unfortunately as I don't have enough money I only have 1 fish tank so no other separate fish tank to use as a hospital tank to treat the fish that maybe looking sick in my opinion individually.
As recommended by Kaveman Aquatics UA-cam channel I have been using since I bought my fish (not bought all at once obviously) using Seachem stability and Seachem Prime and Seachem Flouish Advance for my live plants.
      Thank you,
      Kind regards,
      Tom from UK.

Yes, please do bc I'm at a loss w my goldfish tank right now😭. All my fish keep getting sick repeatedly over the last month. When I googled symptoms it could be all sorts of things. Doing salt works great at first but the symptoms always come back. I began using melafix but I'm scared to continue bc they're getting worse and fast.

Kev, being as the Green/Blue Slime is a bacteria I'll put this here. I had both of my 55 gals. Cichlid tanks hit with this Slime. At first, I thought it was algae but soon learned what it really was. I dissolved 3 , 500 mg. Amoxicillin tablets in water and added it to my tank and let it sit, covered and in darkness, for 2 days. The fish and everything stayed in the tank. At the end of the first two days, I did a massive water change, approx. 75 to 80 % and then added 1500 mg. of Amoxicillin again., covered the tank, and waited two more days, and then another massive water change. At this point in time the Slime started to disappear like magic. there wasn't much Slime left on anything in my tank and my tank appeared as clean as ever. Meanwhile, my fish were doing fine. After the last water change when my tank was clear I did another massive water change and added carbon to my filter to get the meds out of my tank so I could get my Nitrogen Cycle restarted.Twice now this has worked for me and it takes a lot of manual work of removing the Slime away because it seems to melt away and disappear. It's been 4 months since my first tank was cleared this way and there are no signs of Slime returning anywhere in it.

That puffer has my dying laughing dude thanks for the video!!! I’m new to the aquarium scene. I have a year old angelfish as well as three upside down catfish I did have a bass of shark and a rare clown Paco. Sadly, I ended up getting a beta and I have separation screens in my tank, which is 150 gallon tank. I have it divided into 50 gallons. Then another 50 and 50. So each fish has 50 gallons, the beta had ick and gave all my fish shit so I’m now battling that using the super ick cure as well as slime coat and stress coat protection. As well as aquarium salt and a little bit of garlic. I also raise the temperature to 84° gradually. I’ll probably come edit and update this post in a little bit.

I've just joined up cuz I love your videos! I'm a new fish person, I took some discus in for a friend who was moving, and you have helped so much with this scissor sharp learning curve. My fishies have developed a new thing though, and it's scaring me. It started with one, he leans sideways and starts shaking his head back and forth really fast, as seen in horror movies, just not as fast. He still eats when I feed them, though sometimes doesn't come up to get it from my hand like the rest do. It lasts a few seconds, and happens anywhere from every few seconds to a few times an hour. Sometimes after a particularly bad episode he just lays at the bottom, leaning heavily on the side of the tank. I've watched all of your sick fish videos, and haven't been able to find anything like this. Now two more have started this behavior, what the heck is going on???? Their poop looks good, water parameters in check, regular water changes, no spots or flashing but they do like pretty miserable :(

Hey Debora...for some reason your comment was in the spam section...sorry I missed it.
So as a beginner I recommend never saying "water Parameters n check" or any other variation of that. There are many parameters to consider and in order for anyone to help, either here or in forums, or even in my facebook group, we need to know those exact parameters. Like Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, temperature, Hardness, phosphates, silicates...all of those matter. 😊

I just euthanized him and my water parameters are pretty close to perfect. I don't know what could have caused this and what I should be looking out for to make sure my other 22 fish stay healthy as they are. Thanks and I appreciate anything you have to say

Sorry to hear that bro! Sometimes it can be as simple as a physical injury. Could have scraped his eye on a piece of decor, or gotten into a fight while you weren't looking. If there's no other signs of disease in the tank I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. Just keep a close eye on everyone for a while.

I have been fish keeping for a long time and I can tell you that I don't have any aquarium medications. I have never needed them, I have never had an outbreak in any of my tanks. Mind you I do go to great lengths to make sure I never need them. I find it useless to chase symptoms when you should be dealing with causes, I concentrate on prevention and that has kept me from having to treat. I will let you in on a secret, stress, control stress in your tanks at all cost. Control stress from bad environmental conditions, stress from other fish. controlling stress is the key my friends. Cheers!

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics  2 роки тому +4

100% agree, prevention is key!! Unfortunately, for many, their fish still get sick, and when they do knowing what to use and what not to use is vital information. Thats why I made this video.

Oh I totally agree with you and think this is important information that new fish keepers absolutely need to know. Good aquarium medications are hard to come by here in Canada which forced me to concentrate on prevention. It's concentrating on prevention that made me realize that prevention is the key. I thought your video was a good one with valid and credible information. I have no problem with your content, it is a topic that needs to be discussed and addressed. I was just commenting on my experience and not the nature of your video. Sorry if I made it sound like this is not an important topic. Oh and by the way, you have great looking tanks with beautiful fish. Your doing it right my friend.

Something id like to add about ich treatment... once the ich has "fallen off" it can be gravel vac'd out, you just have to really do a good job. Ive treated ich this way a few times, no meds or salt AT ALL. And youll probably already be upping WCs at that point anyways. Meds on top of that... almost a sure thing to work.

My goldfish tank got sick prior to this and I lost several fish. She was one of the lone survivors her and another one but recently this tank begin to seem sick again right now I have her in a hospital tank with her boyfriend, she cannot turn right side up to save her life. That sounds like swim bladder disease and unfortunately its usually a death sentence. Sorry I'm only getting to this comment 2 days later but it may be too late already. If i'm wrong the best medicine for this is super clean and pristine water conditions and very very low stress environment, meaning she should be alone. But like I said...they usually dont recover from this. Good luck!

    hello master..
i lost my 9 goldfish today..
it all started when i shifted them in a cold water with out heater to remove few anchor worms which they got when i added one gold fish from market with out quarentine..
i guess they got coldshock during shifting..they set in the bottom of tank for last 4days with out moving and eating ..
i tried my best with heater , adding salt & antistress medications but day by day they keep on dying one by one.. and today i lost all of them..it was my first time with aquarium hobby..
i searched youtube how to revive goldfish which set at bottom of tank..but no informative video i got..
today i am very sad that no aqaurium hobiest uploaded a single informative video on this importnt topic for which i lost all my goldies..
even lukes goldie channel has never covered this importnt topic..
so i request you master to upload a video on it..
