Your honesty, lack of pretentiousness, unapologetic nerdiness, and simple love of movies come across in each and every video. THAT is why I keep checking back in to see what you think.
And, as a bonus, your tastes match mine nearly perfectly. I don't go see a movie until it has at least a "Good Time If You're Drunk" from you, Jeremy. Here's hoping you continue for many more years to come. Thank YOU for all you've done.

Yeah. Just found this channel, but he's actually pretty good, and not annoying like nearly all other movie reviewers I've seen. Personally I thought Oppenheimer was boring and the final John Wick wasn't that great, but considering how little there was this year I kind of agree with the list. At least John Wick was an okay ending to the story. And I knew Oppenheimer would be boring, but still a technically good movie. Oppenheimer was probably extra boring for me because I already knew a bunch about the guy. I do think Meg 2 should have been on the list though, as dumb as it was it was by far the most entertaining movie I watched this year.

Godzilla Minus One was the biggest shock for me. Wasn't expecting anything from this, but it was brilliant. Even the score felt so old school like those 60's monster films, did it in such a good way. But yes, John Wick 4 was a masterclass in filmmaking. The camera work, the cinematography, it was brilliant to watch.

My top 2 this year would be 'Oppenheimer' and 'Godzilla Minus One'. I feel like 'Oppenheimer' was a movie going experience. Seeing it in IMAX with a 100% booked theater is one of those "wow" moments for a movie. The last movie I went to where it was that packed and they booked extra screens for one movie was 'Avengers: Endgame'. Movies like that are just so damn fun because it becomes an event like going to a concert or sporting event. And then there's 'Godzilla Minus One' which I thought looked pretty good in the trailers, but my goodness I did not expect it to be THAT good. It's one of those monster/disaster movies which does lean more heavily on the human element...but it makes everyone feel real. This isn't like a 'Transformers' movie where the humans have some boring, self-absorbed side quest. When we saw Godzilla we saw the scariest version yet. And the film built up the fact that even though Godzilla itself was scary it's the loss of those you live with that is the most devastating thing anyone can experience and the feeling of constantly being knocked down and unable to rebuild/go on with normal lives. So yeah...I'm saying Godzilla is my movie of the year. Phenomenal movie.

I honestly don't understand what people liked about Spiderverse. The main villain is the spot a guy who can barely make one episode of 90's Spiderman interesting. It's a two part movie with a completely jarring ending. It further minimizes the importance of Peter Parker as the first and main Spiderman. They have the pregnant Spiderwoman in it. And the plot doesn't even have to do anything with saving the world or even the city but is bascially about Miles trying to save his dad from some kind of predestined tragic fate... Honestly what do people like about it??? The Super Mario Bros movie was a hundred times better and honored its source material!

Watching John Wick 4 for the first time in IMAX had me more hyped than any of the MCU since Endgame. The siege of the Osaka Continental had so many moments where I was just wanting to dudebro cheer at the film. Lighting and Sound Design deserve a shoutout for just perfectly setting the atmosphere. It's crazy to rewatch the first one and see just how far things have come.

It didn’t fly under anyone’s radar. It just wasn’t as good as Fallout and felt like more of the same, so there wasn’t as much buzz as earlier installments. It also wasn't as visually inventive and didn't do enough to stand out, even in its own franchise. Tom Cruise jumping off cliffs isn't that novel anymore. After having just seen Indy 5 a few weeks earlier I had this odd feeling of deja vu in DR watching yet another fight on top of a moving train over the story’s MacGuffin and a 3rd car chase this year through a foreign city after having just seen this in both Fast X and indy 5. Heck, The Bourne Identity did that amazingly well over 20 years ago and it was also in a small Euro car, driving down steps, etc… You can argue that MI7 executed them as well or better, but it doesn't shake the general feeling of lacking creative imagination. There was nothing in it remotely as iconic as rappelling the Burj Khalifa, the opera sequence in Rogue Nation, or even the MI1 CIA heist.@@chanmanthegreat1429

It was my first JW theatrical experience, and although I'd already spent time catching up on the franchise at home, seeing it on the big screen was what *really* made me understand all the surrounding hype for this series. JW4 goes balls-to-the-wall on action, spectacle, and set pieces without ever losing touch with itself, and as a result, you can tell the obvious sincerity behind it. Plus, weirdly enough, I don't think any movie this year gave me a bigger laugh than when John was being cartoonishly hit by multiple cars and falling down all those stairs. 😆🚔

What I love about this channel is it has remained consistent even after over a decade. Even the intro and number screens are the same since he has started. Goes to show to always be yourself and you can build a community out of it. Will always love JJ and his reviews

I feel John Wick was such a good action series because it wasn't structured like a movie, it was structured like an action oriented, story driven video game and divided over 4 movies.

i also just think the effort put into the action scenes are just on a different level. again that top down scene. fucking insane. the settings, the stylization. It all just feels good. it doesnt feel like it's just cheap action. I feel like I'm watching these movies more as a tech demo rather than a movie cause what john wick movies do with action is just top of the line.

Watch Jigarthanda Double X and thank me later 😊 4th highest rated action movie on Letterboxd in 2023 (just below John Wick 4 ranked number 3) it's a gangster drama with dark comedy, political themes, and is constructed an an ode to cinema through its theme, meta plot and movie references. (Loosely connected prequel to Jigarthanda, 2014, great too but not on the same scale)

Love this list! When number one was coming, I was actually thinking "Where is that film?" but then it appeared. You actually inspired me to do my first top 10 list video on here, and you inspired me to post my movie reviews on here too. But anyway, my top 10 best films are:
    10. The Creator
    9. Wonka
    8. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
    7. John Wick Chapter 4
    6. Elemental
    5. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3
    4. Killers of the Flower Moon
    3. Godzilla Minus One
    2. Oppenheimer
    1. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Thank you for another entertaining year of reviews, and I look forward to 2024!!

Even though these days I’m less and less watching movies because my life just became more… Faster and busy. Whenever I see your notification I still click on your video and watch it because of your true passion for movies, cinema and story telling. I truly wish for you much more subscribers and viewers in many more years to come, and to never lose that drive because your work matters to us movie lovers, and gamers! May you have even more fans and success in next 15 years😂🙏

Barbenheimer was THE cultural event of 2023. I'm delighted that I got to catch both on the big screen, the storytelling was remarkable.
