    The Mummy only became pointless when they cast Tom Cruise in it and let his people rewrite the script into a Tom Cruise adventure movie. It was supposed to be the kickstart to the Dark Universe series.

    I thought Joker: Folie a Deux would be in this top since it has so little plot, it doesn't move events from Joker further, and even the main character is killed by a random guy. Even court drama is not engaging, since it's basically retelling of what happened previously. So what was all of this for, still mystery for me

    • @leonelvarelarodriguez4236
      @leonelvarelarodriguez4236 2 дні тому +2

      because the joker movies are not about plot like most movies, the purpose of this movies it's to make the audience think about mental illness, injustice, and how the sistem and society doesn´t care about those kind of people, even to this day... if the movies weren't called "joker" and if the main character was called anything else the message would have been more accepted... but because it was called joker for marketing reasons everyone expected to be conected with batman and other dc characters in the way marvel made their cinematic universe... I don't think they are perfect movies, the first one was ok maybe, kind of trying to get to to many places and the main focus kind of get lost in the"social revolution" more visual aesthetics... and the second one it´s more focused on he duality of the main character and what you as an espectator think about his mental state and responsability towards his crimes...

    • @redbearddan2000
      @redbearddan2000 День тому

      @leonelvarelarodriguez4236 it's okay to show how society neglects mentally ill people, but what's not okay is when the main character with such illness doesn't do anything to make his situation better. In the first movie, Arthur wanted to be recognized by people as a comedian because he believed he was meant to bring joy to people, and Arthur had a good time doing this. But when all this was taken away and after finding out that all Arthur believed in was a lie, he snapped and decided to respond to the world by becoming Joker, as Murray mocked him on TV for Fleck's failed stand-up performance. That's why the first movie worked: because Arthur was an active protagonist seeking for help and better future, but after not getting it, he decided to get revenge on the society which made him happy at the end.
      Meanwhile, the sequel shows Arthur being depressed once again, but this time he does little to nothing in the movie except when he decides to represent himself on the court, and even there he fails. Other times we just watch him suffering and being constantly humiliated by guards and on the court, then being raped, then being rejected by Harley and then dying from the hands of a random Arkham patient who was never set up in the story which makes it absurd. If the character is humiliated and tortured throughout the movie while never getting an upper hand to deserve a better future, the story (if there is one) becomes aimless and time wasting. Once again, it's okay to show the main character being unfairly treated for his limitations, but if the protagonist doesn't take actions to make his situation better, you lose interest in the story near the half of it.

    I watched Hellboy: The Crooked Man last night and my favorite thing about it is that it WASN'T a superhero movie. It was a horror movie that included a superhero. The effects were fine for what it was. It definitely looked like a limited budget horror movie, but not in a bad way. Fog and darkness were used to great effect and the characters were great. The 'bad guy' was sufficiently evil and hard to destroy. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

    Every single live-action remake by Disney is a giant "Why are they doing this??" I mean it's an obvious cash grab of course but at the same time they make unneeded changes right along with the remaking process. It's like what they do with their streaming releases of older animated hits: changes no one asked for that dumb down the whole thing in an attempt to make it more marketable.

    I dont think Never Say Never Again should be in this list - Although Roger Moore was very popular , people were always looking for the return of Sean Connery as Bond. The problem was the execution of NSNA. It ironically veered towards the slow paced humour filled style of some of the Roger Moore movies ( Moonraker springs to mind ) instead of the breakneck action thriller ( say Raiders of the Lost Ark ) it so deserved to be.

    To be fair on Matrix 4, it was forced by the studio, and the people involved deliberately made it as bad as possible to kill any future attempt at making a franchise. The director was very open about it upon the release of the movie, as was the main cast.
    Edit: As the Dark Monster verse, trying to make a franchise out of characters that are firmly in the public domain was a bad idea to begin with. Using poor scripts and over producing the movies was the death knell.

The thing Terminator has vs other franchises is that we all know what is supposed to happen in the future so we want to see what happens along the way (kind of like wanting the Star Wars Prequels even though we know what basically happens) and then we want to know what happens after Judgement Day…if it indeed came to pass.

    Dreamworks' HtTYD remake is following Disney's Lion King 2019's footsteps in making what appears to be a near shot for shot remake, and it's probably going to do well (though I don't expect it to pull 2019 box office numbers, there is just fewer people going to the theatres these days, I think). It does at least have the potential advantage of having a human cast, though that said, I don't remember being wowed by the human cast in the trailer.

    I think people would be rather more interested in additional Hellboy movies than in the several mentioned candidates that didn’t make the list.
    Indeed, if there’s one thing that the low budget of the Hellboy movie did *for* the film, it was to tempt the franchise into telling a story that didn’t really involve some giant threat to world or the universe; and telling stories with a smaller scope is something that many action and adventure movies could really benefit from.
    The Crooked Man wasn’t the Hellboy movie we deserved; but it was the one we needed right now.
    Totally agree with the rest of the list.

    I generally stay out of the comments sections on youtube, but I'm going to step up for Hellboy: The Crooked Man. While correct, no one (myself included) asked for this, I think this is actually the best interpretation of Hellboy onscreen! My only real complaint is that Jack Kesey's make-up didn't go as a far as Perlman's (but still looks much better than Harbour's). The movie is gritty and creepy, but not without humour, with Hellboy's matter-of-fact responses to the increasingly escalating situations always elicit a chuckle. It is also a near perfect adaptation of the original comic story, taking everything there, but also punching up the action and set pieces some more. Don't skip it!

    No film in the history of Hollywood needs to be made. Films are like any other industry, made to make money. No matter how much people think Lion King 2019 was pointless it made $1.6 billion so Disney are VERY happy.

    There has never been a good reason to have more Home Alone movies. Even the second one doesn't make that much sense. The Dark Universe could've been a good idea but they didn't seem to plan it very well. One of The Mummy's problems was Tom Cruise. Unless he was the mummy, it just became a Tom Cruise movie.

    They can easily reintroduce Hellboy via BPRD to explain away what happened to the Ron Pearlman Hellboy. Have him stuck in purgatory or something and explain the other movies as his failed attempts to escape it and enter HIS universe at FULL power.

    • @nnydepp
      @nnydepp День тому

      Then create a sequel where the Ron Pearlman Hellboy escapes and has to help his universes version of BPRD who had to attempt to take over and do their best without him. Hell you can open the movie of Hellboy getting trapped and the rest of the BPRD, be like "the hell did he go?"; then have Del Toro direct for visual continuity then bam print money.
