The other Medi-Gun being specialized is actually the reason that the quick fix was banned in 6's because the damage in 6's is way less and there isn't any sentry nests to destroy, another thing is that you can pocket a roamer and pretty much keep diving on their medic with no consequence because the soldier you're pocketing can just fly away and keep you out of danger.

    • @redline841
      @redline841 2 роки тому +26

Honestly that is probably more due to 5CP and KOTH dominating 6s than the setting itself. If 6s had more attack/defend or payload oriented, the Quicky-Yiikie wouldn't be banned. Devastating for sure but not as devastating

I’ll be honest, I never really considered that you can get creative with invulnerability. It's just a kind of power where people don't usually use any special tricks to make it work better than normal. But now that we've got the ability to create and control it however we want, I'm starting to see some potential uses for this that are pretty cool.

36:35 An understated quirk about the stock Medigun is it's perhaps the worst Medigun at 0% Uber. It means you have a lot of reason to swap it with somebody's dropped Uber on the floor. Theory-Y here grabs a Kritz at 56%, so he's only 14 seconds away from a follow-up Kritzkrieg. Compare with the 40 second build time of a 0% stock Uber, and you can see a clear advantage.

I think it's important to point out that invulnerability not only prevents death, it prevents damage. It's WAY better to maintain a team at high health than to use the über to save yourself or someone else from dying while they are at low health. If you über 2 or 3 guys starting from already high health, you can use the damage prevention to gain an advantage and have a massive health advantage even after the invulnerability wears off.
Despite his class name, Medic's design at its core is more about empowering others and preventing damage in the first place than about treating already damaged people. If you're constantly preoccupied with keeping low health teammates alive and cannot make big pushes, you and your team aren't really doing something right and are just stalemating the game. (Works on A/D defense, I guess.) This doesn't mean that hurt people are to be ignored completely and that flashing a low health guy for a second to tank a hit that would kill them can't be useful. It's just that caring about them isn't actually Medic's main job. Medic isn't solely responsible for teammate deaths. He can't prevent them all and doesn't need to.
Usually when you have a disadvantage, you want to retreat to heal up and gather for a big push when possible, instead of staying and trying to keep people on the edge of death.

I have been looking for a medic tutorial like the series you have made for a while now, as I really like playing medic and being support, and I have been looking to see how I could learn to play more effectively as medic, as it seems to be one of the most practical options and even though I may enjoy unconventional strategies, I also want to be able to play practically too, as that can also be fun, and I’m really interested in the medic play-style and want to learn more about it. I always lean towards a supportive role, even if the class was made for support or not. (I.E, spy checking, going pyro to rid of those pesky spahs harassing my engineer, helping my engineer setup and/or upgrade his nest or being engineer when we don’t have one and should, giving my dying teammates a sandwich at every chance I get, focus on keeping our medic safe and alive at all costs, denying an area with a sentry and make a safe retreat for my team as engineer, get rid of a sentry our team can’t deal with for some reason (casual moment), going mad milk scout to help my team a bit and extinguish flames if need be, trimping in out of nowhere to distract their team as demoknight to get an important pick, annoy the living hell out out the enemy team, use the conch or buff banner and buff my team for a push, use the disciplinary action and focus to get our slower classes to the front lines, switch to medic and to keep our team and/or biggest assets alive, fake our teammates deaths with the deadringer, cover my engineers sentry guns and buildings with stickies and detonate them if there is any sign of a spy, sneak behind enemy lines with holiday punch to confuse and stun the enemy, ETC..) so thank you, Medic Uncle Dane, I can confidently say that I can start my advanced medic journey.

Clicked for Medic gameplay, satisfied to see all that here. Good guide for all levels of play. There's little left to say but maybe these: 1. Battle medic. 2. Medi-beam kept short when going around corners (as in part when going deep). That helps against snipers too, they could just wait until you show up (with long beam). Now that you can see the enemy, just adjust you position or pop right away. 3. Fake end uber. You just popped to save lives, but there's no other team close by. You could just switch weapon and let the enemy think you just run out of uber but switch back just in time to prevent any dmg. 4. Body block a spy trying to stab your patient. Aka getting in-between the two while sawing the spy in half. As shown on video it's done using an uber, but either style is fun.

Thank you for pointing out how versatile stock Uber can be! So many times I've gone to Uber someone as a defensive measure and they instead take it as a cue to charge directly into the enemy team guns blazing, accomplishing nothing and getting both of us killed. Sometimes I pop Uber on a fellow Medic as a distraction, a last-ditch effort to keep the enemy team occupied while waiting for stronger teammates to show up and hold the line. Sometimes I pop Uber because me and the Engie somehow got trapped waaay behind enemy lines, so we can use the invulnerability to escape to safety. Sometimes I flash Uber on everyone in my vicinity because the enemy team is pushing in unexpectedly and we need to hold our position. Uber, especially stock Uber, is about so much more than just "go commit mass murder"! I wish more players understood that. When it's just me and you, Sniper, it's okay if you don't get a quad kill when I Uber you! Let's just get out of this danger zone!

There was an Uber not discussed that I like that I call The Guarantee. Pop on an already popping Kritz med. if the enemy team has smart players that focus your kritz med, just keep him and his chosen murder machine alive.
Another one I like is called The Bait. If you have 2 uber meds and they kite (dodge) your teams ubers, communicate with your other med and pop a bad uber on purpose. The enemy med, ESPECIALLY kritz meds, will wait until you pop for them to pop, and some less skilled meds will pop as soon as you do. Which makes the other uber the perfect follow up.

Once Uberd a spy who managed to confuse the team of engineers and quickly sap everything. Which might of been the only play too. With that many sentries, there was no way we could out damage them all in one uber. However, since they were all momentarily sapped the whole team could push onto the point and help destroy them.
So yea, on some rare occasions any class can make a big play with Uber

Big Earner spies can pop off with a stock uber too. The downside of being fragile getting totally negated means they can use their absurd speed to get some silly stabs, especially if you're flashing scarier power classes which take their attention off the spy. If they're good and can do matadors/strafe stabs you can almost guarantee at least 4 kills as long as there's no knockback sources.

One thing I like to do on an Exchange defensive Uber is to "minimally flash"- As a teammate is Ubered the enemy Uber tends to ignore him. That's a chance to completely Switch the Uber to a teammate that's about to get damage and is at 50-100% HP. Finally I might do a final switch as the enemy switches targets again, either to the original or another target. This leaves me around 7 seconds of Uber, but I used it to block a massive amount of damage from key players that are going to stay and fight the post Uber with me. The tactic you outlined of using the Uber to look around is key here- but instead of gathering information on the enemy, I tend to look at my unubered teamnates and the enemy damage coming their way, to find the Juiciest targets to switch over to.

Honestly I think stock is perfect for beginners for 2 reasons
1 it gives the new medic a safety net for when they eventually make a bad choice or mistake and if they did manage to live to 100 it rewards them for surviving by giving that last resort safety net which leads to my 2nd point
2 it teaches the new medic how to be a good medic because it has the longest build up time u need to learn how to survive for long and this helps teach the medic that if he wants a uber he needs to learn to survive and learn the medics strengths and weaknesses and due to the long build time by popping and getting that one good uber push rewards the medic for surviving and playing it safe and not dumb
I also personally think the stock has the most nuance in terms of uber because of the ability to flash being able to flash your teammates will make your uber shorter but will let you have more teammates during that push but it's not optimal for every
push which is its own skill of its own to learn when to flash or not and all tho technically all of the other medi guns can do flashes aswell I think the stock medis flash provides he most difference in most situations of course that doesn't mean it's the best medi gun all medi guns are equal level with there own skill, playstyle, meta etc
I also agree with experimenting with your ubers I remeber I was alone with a fellow spy on mossrock and we were pretty much both overextended because of a enemy uber push I realised that we are too far away to run back to our team so I try running away the spy I was with was about to die to a scout and I knew that I just run and pop to save myself someone wil most definitely kill me so I decided to uber that spy and he kills the scout and charges into the attacking teamsnest and with his le'tranger he manages to kill 4 enemies and forcing the enemy medic to waste his uber while also killing the 2nd medic,a soldier the engineer and his buildings and a heavy and after the uber we both got killed but after me and the spy had a good laugh after that in chat and this spy isn't even that good at spy he's around mid of the scoreboard and yet that uber actually had a major effect on the game

As a Medic main, thinking on behalf of my team is way too damn hard sometimes.
That's why I've grown used to just unga bungaing double ubers and watching the enemy just scatter like flies.
Makes space for me to think.

Fun fact : you also do the silly jump every time you shoot a crossbow bolt ...
I realized I was doing that a while ago. It helps shooting over allies walking through you I guess. I wonder how I picked that up.

Today I decided to goof around rather than playing 'well'. Doing unnecesary or too risky rocket jumps, playing demoknight and just charging at people like a madman, using the huntsman while being basically in the frontline with sniper. Then I decided to play Medic for the first time. The team was full and I was the only medic. Red Cross pop ups inundated my screen, the chat and audio was just 'MEDIC!' all the time, I was dominated by two different players (Including one who seemingly always knew where I was and we were magnets attracting each other)
It was so much fun. And now I got recommended this video of what seems to be a series of Medic advice. So despite being an Engie main, I'm sure I'll give Medic time to shine every so often

A fresh install w+m1 pyro is a really good pop in causal more often than you'd think, they scare the fuck out of the enemy team and will brainlessly rush in trying to get more kills. Their desire for points and frags hasn't yet been tainted by risk/reward management, metas or matchups, and they don't need to aim to get them.

For the using Uber part oddly enough the targets I find the most useful are scouts and pyro cause when under the effects of stock Uber it seems like they just have a mental shift in their head to go full agro and make a push or hold off a advance.
Some times it’s good for heavys demos and solders but heavy tends to be too slow and the other two just jump away half the time making the Uber less effective. Good flash targets go to spies engi and snipers letting them survive a incoming volley or a lined up shot they don’t see coming / can’t avoid is good feeling.

Sweaty scouts have a unique synapse in their brain that is triggered when hit by Kritz or Stock Uber to make them hyper-aggressive. Which is always good when they can hit their shots. Holding beam on a guy while he whips through the enemy team too fast to hit and invincible to splash is very satisfying. Only downside is knockback. But if you've cleared the sentries, you should be safe to let loose the little piranha scout to rip up stragglers.

Really appreciating the high amount of Chrono Trigger music in this video because I'm both a medic main (even though I have more time on heavy and engie, a lot of that is ctf shenanigans and I don't really count it lol) and Chrono Trigger is my favorite JRPG and has been since I first played it 15 some years ago. I had a SNES as a kid (I'm 26 for context) and the summer of my 14th bday I worked hard for my grandfather doing odd jobs for him around the house to earn money for 2-3 months to buy a hard copy of that game. I sold my SNES some years ago, but I still have a hard copy of the PS1 version. :)

When the pub isn't a total sweatfest, I like übering the newbies at the end of setup instead of the MVPs.
Getting übered for the first time while still inexperienced can truly feel like a trial by fire. The stress of responsibility overcomes the comfort of invincibility, but it's one of these feelings that makes you grow as a player and pulls you back into the game.
