I always thought the aesthetics of WCW events like Nitro, Halloween Havoc and Bash at the Beach were pretty cool. It's one of the reasons why WrestleMania IX at Caesar's Palace in 1993 is one of my favorite events. WCW deserves more credit for the creativty of Bash at the Beach '95, Road Wild and even those cheesy mini movies they shot back in the early to mid 90s.
What was creative about Bash 95? Put a ring on the beach, done. That takes no creativity, but it sure as hell is a idiotic idea from a business point of view (though no surprise, since Bankrupt Bischoff has no business sense whatsoever)
This was the first Wrestling event I attended live. Eric makes some great points. WCW wasn’t strong in L.A. let alone Orange County at the time. A lot of the people there weren’t familiar with anyone who wasn’t from WWE, Sting, or Flair. During The DDP match some lady ended up flashing the crowd and getting arrested for it. It was a wild day in July back in 1995. 😂
Folks, if you ever need an exhibit of a man’s patience being tested to near breaking point, and the man showing an inhuman amount of resilience to stay calm, look no further than Eric’s face at 58:35 and body language at the mention of yet another fictional Dave Meltzer story being quoted by Conrad as if it is gospel. 😂Eric is such a patient man. I really don’t know how he keeps his cool so often on this show.
So glad for this when I finish with current wrestling. I like to watch a WCW ppv depending on the current month. When I saw this ppv , I try to look for a 83 week about the ppv it was only Tony Shivonie I could not get into it .Thanks for coming through.
I just watched bash at beach on peacock and enjoyed it. I remember watching ads of this on direc tv ppv channel but could never afford ppv's, and thought how cool and different it was to have the ppv on the beach. Same with road wild. I was a wwf fan then but was intrigued with how different it was. I hope there's more watch-a-longs.
Eric’s knowledge is 20 years behind Networks care more about the rank then raw numbers Conrad forgetting about Beth Phoenix I wish Veda Scott got the chance to do collision. She’s great in dark and gcw
Eric should get that local radio sports announcer on the show, maybe along with one of the old school WWE or WCW commentators to talk about the art of the commentary booth. I'm sure it would be a fascinating show!
Shouldn't Connie be Vader and Bisch as Hogan in the thumbnail? Anyways, I've been looking forward to this BATB being covered for along time now. One of my favorite WCW ppvs.
I cant wait for that episode of Strictly Business taking a deep dive from somebody who knows and is their job to know the ins and outs of ratings analysis in the year 2023 and what it all means in its entirety. To me cable is without a doubt dying and Nielson TV Ratings are flawed but the only public metric that people still rely on to measure a show. I personally dont know 1 single person in my life that has cable anymore. We all moved onto Hulu, Apple or UA-cam TV. How does that factor in. Other than The NBA playoffs, NFL and AEW I never watch almost anything else live anymore. DVR is the greatest invention in entertainment history. We have a bunch of know it alls that think that entertainment consumption and the way its measured is still in the 1990s. I think younger people are cutting the cord. Its that over 50 demo that are still hesitant and skeptical about the future of entertainment consumption and where its heading
WCW doing a show at the Felt Forum (or whatever the building attached to MSG was called at the time) is a horrible idea. "We're coming to you live from BENEATH the WWF's top building!".
It was a House Show and they couldn't even sell out the venue (It was called the Paramount Theater back then) as only 2,900 showed up, the venue held 4,000 for wrestling. Even just attempting to do it at the MSG would be absurd. WCW just had no big standing in the North, the same way, the WWF never really drew in the South. For example, the WWF tried to get right into JCP/WCW's home arenas - and completely failed. For example, even at the absolute height of Hulkamania, on June 19, 1987 the WWF only sold 5,345 tickets at the Omni in Atlanta (Hogan vs. Kamala was the main event)
Talking about Vader near the end, not making it big in wwf....wasn't that also due to Shawn Michaels? Wasn't Vader supposed to get a big push and then HBK squashing that with Vince?
True, it was supposed to be Vader winning the strap in msg then dropping it back to shawn a few months later but since the boytoy didn't want to work with him sid was his replacement.
Factor is horrible. Out of all the ready to eat meals we tried it was by far the worst with the worst selection. And one if them is about enough food to feed a child. Only took two hours for them to get to the actual BATB show. But to me the best part is always Eric laying out what things were actually like back then at a particular time.
The level that Conman D rides AEW is insane I’ve never seen anything like this. All this man does is make excuses and cover up anything and everything for AEW holy fuck Conman I hope, that Tony K money is good
Conrad has more money, respect and kindness towards other people than you'll ever have. He doesn't need your views, so stop watching if you don't like the guy.
@alexwheaton6723 spot on man, well said. People are just jealous and angry, Conrad works his butt off and has provided wrestling fans with hours upon hours of FREE content, can't get much better than that.
Is your a son a member of the Laffing Devils, Eric? 🤣That was on when I wasn't watching wrestling, but the whole SOA thing right, anyways you never gave us an ending to that story. Couldn't you have worked it in on Smackdown or something? 😘
Uhhh, did they jack up video? It doesnt seem like theyre talking about Bash at the Beach 95 Edit: I dont think they started talking about the actual PPV until 2 hrs in!
Funny how Conrad talks about free admission shows one way with Eric, and another way with Tony. Listen to Conrad trash free admission during the watch along with Tony of I believe it was Road Wild '97, and now praising Eric for getting new eyes on your product with free admission. Talking outta both sides of your mouth there...Brother!!!

Why does anyone want to hear women on these commentaries? Mike McGurk done it for WWF and it wasn't great to listen to (and I am a fan of hers, she's been great on podcasts) and also here in the UK our football matches and panel shows for sport have women on them to tick the box and the criticism is off-the-scale - it just doesn't fit.

Austin losing got him over while Vader losing buried him. The only way anyone could see them as the similar is if you haven't seen Vader from 1992-losing to Hogan.
Hearing Eric talk about baby face, family business Vince versus the TNT Empire of Ted Turner is good sh*t pal. 24:25 to get past the nonsense
That's for the people who don't like aew like myself
Wow! Nearly 25 minutes in! That’s ridiculous.
@eazie2003, ppl like you are a life saver!
I used to rent the VHS of 95 Bash of the Beach several times. As a kid I thought it was cool.
The VHS had the hysterical Blue Bloods segment where Regal and Eaton visited Los Angeles.
I met John Tenta at a gym in Florida in 1998. He couldn’t be any nicer. RIP
I met him in Surrey, B.C in the grocery store cashier line. His kids had WWE merchandise on

Beth Phoenix is a good female announcer.

Well observed Dr Einstein
Baywatch was big in Europe, probably bigger than in the US

The cook out where I slap Dz Nutz on their grill.
