still remember my mum looking at this every day in the early 80s, seems like yesterday but its so long ago, i am now 60. seeing there faces was like it was yesterday.
memories! Pat the rat really was kick ass. My whole family was addicted and the theme song had us all gawking at the telly in anticipation and they never disappointed...
i so did love watching son's and daughters...that nosey neighbour mrs mangle....this was nice to watch it sure has brought some good memories back to me.
Sarah Kemp aka Charlie Bartlett had a small role in a 1971 episode of the UK show , Dr.Who, played by the late Jon Pertwee, her stage name being 'Gypsy' Kemp at the time.
Sons and daughters was compulsory viewing at the time, because there was none of the modern convenient available. The question is, would it made the cut today with the advent of modern gadgets and technology?????
YES - I'd say the general translation of any and all popular shows from the same era would seem cheesy or corny by todays standards but S&D's had a tiny budget and managed to include relatable lifestyles and enviable characters (who were smoking hot at the time - and still look pretty good) who kept it real in suburbia, let us take a glimpse into the upper class of Melbourne's high society and also bridged the gap believingly. When a cast have only a script and their drama skills to make a story captivating, the actors have to be good otherwise you have a mildly entertaining space filler that you don't feel invested in and missing an episode won't phase you. The first few years of the show were action packed and everything you wanted to go wrong or right happened and with some of the best acting in aussie soaps or TV in general still to this day, causing even non-television junkies to schedule the evening around it. To really compare the quality of it to a current selection of similar shows, you would have to consider modern production and include story lines reflecting current attitudes. I am not generally a soap opera kinda guy but I am a trained actor. I probably wouldn't watch it if it was airing currently because I hardly watch any TV but I can still enjoy a re-run or two!
No he's back in oz along time now, don't think he stayed in us-he only seemed to do usa projects between 1990- 92 and then he was back doing Australian work, he pops up in a lot of australian theatre there and does alot of Australian tv shows, I've seen him in another reunion in recent years.
Ian Rawlings, who played Wayne Hamilton, isn't at this reunion either. He appeared at a different reunion on the TV program Where Are They Now? Peter Phelps appeared at that one too.
Never been such a beautiful soap made since. My favourite. I loved it.

Mrs Mangle was in Neighbour's, NOT Son's And Daughter's. which was my mother in laws all time favourite soap . :)
Leila Hayes was at the back of the queue with the wardrobe department..All those smocks
Hey awesome clip and a good mix of cast. Ally Fowler was recently in Wentworth - a re image of another awesome Aussie soap Prisoner.
Oh, wow! I had to go look that up at IMDb.com. Had no idea "Simmo" was played by Ally Fowler.
Thankyou, loved this show, especially Sarah Kemp and David was a great character. Alyce Platt still looks great
Samantha gorgeous
Charlie did my head in with that annoying voice
Alyce was in Neighbours as well with Ian Rawlings.
RIP Sarah Kemp and Cornillia Frances.
How I loved Sons And Daughters. Still regard it as the best 'Soap' ever!
I recorded it (yes, all 972 Episodes).
that's illegal
Will we be able to view them all?
@@sexobscura no it is not

Brilliant loved it, especially Rowena 👄😜
Nice to see them all again. I would have loved to see Leila Hayes (Beryl), but she doesn't seem to do reunions. A shame.
She doesn't do reunions because she claimed the industry had exploited her in later years.
Error there! That's not the Read House, it's the Market Garden and the shooting cliffhanger did not take place there.
ironic the sarah actress became a university lecturer as her character charlie was a complete airhead in the show.
And she once joked in an episode, "me, going to school, oh educating charlie! I knew one and one was romantic" lol.
Who does your research? Lorrae Desmond was the first female who won the gold Logie.
Rip gordon fiona charlie rosie doug palmer spider
I'm sure Cornelia Frances was also in the "Young Doctors" or some other medical
drama around the same time.
She was sister Scott
And was in Home and Away
@@eiquinlan4012 Ally Fowler, Alyce Platt and Ian Rawlings were also in Neighbours.
Mrs mangel was in neighbors
hi alyce❤

I love how they camped on the lawn because they weren't allowed in the house
Alyce Platt is still just as beautiful as I remember.
She really is, as is Ally Fowler 😜🏳️🌈
sort of remember that ☺
Hilarious show!
Ally Fowler is gorgeous 😍🏳️🌈
Where was Peter Phelps at this reunion. The last time I saw him, he was in US
series Baywatch. Is he living out there now?
