great stuff. used to watch it with my mum when i was around 10 - 12 years old. the theme song is etched in my memory banks. much better soap than what you see these days
My school was just a street away from where we lived, but every afternoon my mum would practically run me all the way just to be home on time to watch it. No tea on the table until it had finished.
Classic show. As an unemployed punk rocker in England I used to watch every episode on afternoon TV during the 80's. Always hated British soaps. But, this show (and Country Practice) had me hooked.
A firm cult favourite here in Britain too. Used to air on ITV throughout the 1980's and was very poular with the afternoon audience. Channel 5 repeated the entire series from 1998 to around 2005, but most of them went out at around 5am as a cheap filler with no adverts. Nor viewers, for that matter, The spin-off books and audio tapes were popular here too in the 80's. It's something of an emblem of 1980's Australian TV to us Brits. And notorious for being the brownest TV show ever.
Wow,! Check out Belinda Giblin, and her figure! She's STILL got the same fantastic figure of a woman in her 30's now as she was back then in Sons and Daughters. She's gorgeous.
I am in the and am probably too young to remember Pat the Rat but it sound not dissimilar to Pat Butcher and Peggy Mitchell both of whom were characters in EastEnders here in the UK they were both married to the same man Pat's ex husband Frank Butcher. Another character Michelle Fowler was a mum at 16 teenage pregnancy was a controvercial l topic when that storyline was screened.
Good drama up until the obrains moving next door to bezza and Patricia leaving and ridiculous high camp after that. It was still worth watching even with the high camp.😂

Ha Ha! Me too, I used to tape it for my mum and became hooked on it! Got home just in time to start taping!
Ian Rawlings is so lovely! Top bloke. I just wish they'd let him get a word in! Ally Fowler looks absolutely stunning!
thanks for posting loved this show as a kid! :-)
Omg , that was fab, I used to rush home from school everyday to catch the last twenty minutes. Wish you could buy the seris on DVD.

Belinda now playing Martha Stewart in home and away
Let's be honest, Rowena Wallace made that show. After she left it struggled and really just limped on ..
This was a brilliant soap, shame they can't do a Brookside and rerun the show in its entirety.
Pat was also played by Jackie Woodburn (Susan Kennedy in Neighbours) in the first episode when she gives birth to the twins...
+Gillian Willis I've seen those first episodes of sons and daughters and i never noticed that
@@peterwilliamskelhorn6675she’s in it for very briefly in a flashback but she’s there😂
@@hugoboss5895 as the younger Patricia. Before Rowena played her
Hi I lived in St Kilda when Wayne was there in the 80s I was in fiona CRT he was around the corner Argyle st
rowena was the best and ian was (and still is) cute! :)
My mom used to make me watch this soap...sooooo unfair 🙄 😂🤣
I have this album.
Belinda giblin was the most beautiful woman on tv.... And even after all those years.. She's still gorgeous
@jiggarypokery i agree she certainly looked after herself!

Then they brought rowena back as her own characters twin sister
Oh,and the doctor just happened to have a vial of anti-venom in his bag of tricks. How convenient!!
Why would they recast such an important character? That would be the same as recasting Harold Bishop, Alf Stewart or even Charlene.
Good drama up until the obrains moving next door to bezza and Patricia leaving and ridiculous high camp after that. It was still worth watching even with the high camp.😂
What a silly retrospective. How is being bitten by a snake 'comical'?
Her and her scenes with Charley daaaaaarling were comical.
