I don't think people realise how massive this episode was, and the impact that it had on pop culture. It was a landmark in TV history.
Why it is significant ?
So true. We loved all the teenagers on this show. And then kylie and Jason released especially for you.. and they were actually a couple. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 8 years old I’m now 41. Great times.
How?
@@VictoryRRR simpler times
I watched it then as a 10 Yr old and cried cos I wanted Scott and now I cry still cause i still don't have him haha
Back when Neighbours was iconic. Never missed an episode back then. Childhood memories 😊
Smc I agree with you
I was under 10 I'm 40 now and still love it. I was addicted to Kylie and Jason. Best wedding soap ever
I wasn't allowed to watch. This is the first time it's occurred to me to watch it. At 39
Back in the days when every kid used to rush from school to watch neighbours
My mum and dad got married in that very Church Holy Trinity Doncaster in Melbourne Victoria Australia 60 years ago this year ( 1962). The old section of the Holy Trinity Church where Scott and Charlene were married is still the same today… a small yet beautiful Anglican Church. It brought tears to my eyes watching Charlene as a gorgeous young bride and thinking of my mum walking down that very same aisle towards my dad🥲 They are now 83 and 89 years old and still married. Praise The LORD Almighty for His amazing Grace and blessings! 🙏🏼💖🕊🕊🕊
I think it was a channel 10 thing. Prisoner filmed a couple of weddings there
The characters of Drew & Libby in Neighbours got married there too..
This best soap wedding of all time! Scott and Charlene forever!
I feel so old watching this. It was when Neighbours was at its peak and there was never a more watched episode than this wedding.
35 years ago and I still remember it like yesterday. It’s amazing how TV memories can be like a time machine. I hope we are all watching in another 35 years as well xxx
This was really sweet. 💕 Remember when it was okay to have a small wedding and the party in your living room? It's quite telling that the most iconic and enduring TV wedding was a simple as they come. Who needs cake, a gazebo and a table plan when you have true love and Angry Anderson 🥰
Mo truer word said
I've never really been a Neighbours fan but I can certainly agree this was probably the most well known episode in the show's history, and "Suddenly" by Angry Anderson was a huge hit, one that featured at thousands of weddings since this went to air. Not only that, the bride would go on to become a huge hit herself.
Every character montage reminds how all these characters were engaging, memorable and special to the extravaganza that was Neighbours 1987/88...
Something Home and Away has never quite attained....
Viva Neighbours...
The perfect wedding dress. The apricot fabric makes it so unique. The way Jason looks at Kylie, amazing chemistry these two had. That's how a man should look at his bride.
2020. Still think this was one of the best tv weddings ever. #ScottAndCharlene #KylieandJason #Neighbours #1980s
who samng this song
In the 1980s soap opera weddings in Australia soap opera Neighbours went ahead without a hitch .
Angry Anderson sung suddenly song .
I was 10 and living in Melbourne when this episode aired. It was the best Aussie Soap TV wedding ever. I watched the very first Neighbours episode which aired on Channel 7 back in 1985 and watched it throughout the 80s and beginning of the 1990s. I then moved to Europe and stopped watching but these early days of Neighbours were the best
Still makes me cry such an amazing wedding and the way he looks at her as she comes in 😍 hope my partner looks at me that way next year when I walk in on our wedding xx
Congrats on your wedding❤❤❤
I'm seeing your comment 2yrs after you posted hope all went well with the wedding
@@kevo8013wedding didn't go quite as planned we are now 😭, separated 😢😢
Fun fact - more people watched this in the UK than the entire population of Australia at the time.
Since they culled their natives... yes
@@rickhardman7376 don’t worry they wouldn’t watch tv anyway
I remember during the summer holidays as kids that we were absolutely addicted to this.Never a dull moment despite some ropey acting.Even when I started work,I’d video it so I could still watch it !
Great days.
Awww. And now Neighbours is finally leaving our screens forever, Kylie and Jason have both agreed to take part in the finale.
35yrs though... I remember this episode so well! Not to mention being young and happy!🥳
Getting old sucks!🙁
Thanks so much for sharing this one ov my favourite neighbours weddings and my late parents god bless you angry Anderson is a amazing rock star and I love jSON AND KYLIE 30 YEARS ❤❤❤❤❤ JASON AND KYLIE FOREVER X
I wanna cry. This episode is so magnificent.
Kylie's dress is precious. Beautiful moment.
❤❤❤❤❤
Omg, the nostalgia!!! 🥺🥺🥺 1st July 1987. I was 16. My family was moving house the day this episode aired. I had watched every episode from the beginning, highs and lows and l couldn't believe l was going to miss it! I got my brother to move the tv first and set up the vcr. The antenna wasn't on the roof of the new house yet so reception was B A D... nevertheless l managed to watch it, a little interrupted but l saw the gorgeous bride in her gown and her handsome groom. Swoooon... Thanks for posting this. All the memories of my own teenager years came flooding back. The hairstyles, the make up.. Gayle was wearing Mauve Madness lipstick, l'd know that shade anywhere! Such happy days. Wonderful memories.🥺🥺🥺
Still have this iconic episode taped on VHS still have my VHS video I treasure it best neighbours moment ever
I remember watching this as a kid and I’m 40 this year. Still lovely 🥰
me too watching it now
Yep me too! 40 in a couple of days also! Such a memorable episode!
Same I’m 40 now and remember how religiously I used to watch this after school haha
Just turned 44. Remember watching this, remember where I was.
Those where the days.. i so remember this like it was yesterday.
God. Time flies! I was only 4 at the time and can still remember this as a huge tv “event”.
Me too...now I have a 4 year old and couldn't imagine her watching anything like this!!!!
i wasnt born for another 9 an half years but i love the wedding clip watched it over and over
Guy Pearce standing beside Donovan. He's a great actor.
I’m back after watching the Neighbour’s finale 🥹
This was massive when it aired!
Farewell and thanks for the memories ❤️
I love neighbours I remember sitting with my sister and my grandad whose not passed away watching this I was only 7 years old this brings back so many precious memories for me
It must be an amazing feeling when acting affects so many people. Yes it's just entertainment. Probably just a days work for the actors but it affected many people's lives and will be remembered forever. I was just 12.
I remember watching this live, seems like another lifetime ago.
I remember I wasn't aloud to have the day off so I had to wait untill the afternoon episode to watch it
Bloody hell, i havn't seen this since 87" , and yet, total bawling, emotional wreck now. thanks for the memory. lol
everyone remembers this episode 20 million here in the uk tuned in to watch this the theme tune by angry anderson-suddenly went to number one for ages i remember all to well and that kiss omg she almost swallowed him whole apparantly only 2 million viewers in australia tuned in to watch this here in the uk they have announced kylie and jason are reuiniting to re release especially for you as well who can remember that other iconic episode when harold bishop disapeard in the sea and his glasses were found he later turned up an madges doorstep lol as a salvation army worker i think not sure but that ep got us tuning in too
God can't believe how time has passed I watched this every day since I was in primary school and am sad that they are filming the last episode 😟 the song 😭
This episode is definitely a tear moment the song by suddenly it's just so moving 😅
Still love this in 2022. Over 20 million people watched this in the UK more than the Australian population. Neighbours was huge then
so 80's, so fabolous and iconic!
Home & Away was the other Aussie soap we used to watch.Summer Bay 😂
Watched this as a kid so many times 😂😂😂
Watched it today at 45 and bawled all the way through it 😂😂😂😂
#Neighbours didn't deserve to end. It is one of the rare sensible realistic shows in the whole world.
It was
Not so much at the end
I love the show but the last few years have been pretty dire.
I'm surprised there weren't many people at the ceremony. Happy memories when I was ten, happy healthy, and hooked on neighbours. I thought this episode so romantic. If only they had married in real life, some how I think Kylie and Jason would still be together with a brood of kids.
Everybody that MATTERED was in the episode.
Charlotte Bruce I was 13 the last time I saw this, I'd sneak out of school every lunchtime and go home just so I could watch neighbours
They were so young when they dated but seemed perfect for each other. I feel saddened for Kylie that even though she’s been mega successful with her music, it seems her choices in men were not that great. Maybe Jason was THE one. It seemed strange back then that wholesome lovely Kylie dumped Jason and started doing lots of weird sexual stuff with Michael Hutchence (who I thought was grubby & revolting) and I wasn’t an INXS fan. (I don’t like to speak ill of the dead buts it’s an opinion I held when he was still alive.) My opinion of Kylie changed after that.
@@leon2901 hahaha so bunking off school to watch neighbours was a counrtywide epidemic, so funny, especially before they had 2 showings, one at 5.35 . i wonder if this is because everyone , adults included were bunking off to watch it? They had to do something.
@@AbsoluteMiniacGena The way she talks about Michael Hutchence, I wonder if maybe he was the love of her life
I wasn’t born when this came on tv but watching this now I love that suddenly song I am a huge neighbours fan being watching it for years since I was around 12 or 13 I’m now 28 born in 1991 I wish Kylie Minogue and jason donavon came back to the show as Jason’s daughter is on neighbours now playing Harlow
rachael wills I was 13 when I first saw this, I'd sneak out of school every lunchtime and go home just so I could watch neighbours.i didn't know Jason's daughter was in it now, it's still on in England I think but I've not seen it for ages
@@leon2901 Yeah it's still on in UK, on channel 5 and we now are only a day behind instead of months like it used to be, and we're only a day behind now because of time difference. Jason's daughter plays Robert's daughter (Paul's son that tried to kill him).
@@Raych666 UK is not a day behind, it airs on the same say as Australia now on ch 5...this month is it's 35th anniversary so loads of the old cast are back. Lucy, Plain Jane, Mark Gotlieb are already back with more to come in the nxt few weeks. I personally don't like Jason Donovan's daughter's character tbh. I find her boring and annoying.
I still remember this episode, that wedding dress of Charleenes absolutey gorgeous.
I was about 8 when this was shown and this song just popped in my head today I'm now 40 lol good song
I still remember watching this episode when it aired.
I remember this episode & im now pushing 59.It was a big event in the world of British TV 📺.Many VCRs were set to record!🤣
I used to watch that when I was little, I'm really gonna miss neighbours 😔
It was massive part of our life’s never be forgotten ever will be remember
Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to Scott and Charlene Robinson.
Happy 32nd now 😀
33rd now ❤️
34rd now
The best episode of TV soap EVER!!... 💜💜💜
As a child i used to be scared of Jim Robinson. As an adult i appreciate his hotness! WOW!
I remember that song was huge, RIP neighbours
What a brilliant video ❤️
Lovely colour for the bridesmaids
The biggest soap opera event in the UK ever, even surpassing Dallas & Eastenders.⭐️
The most 80s thing ever. Ya gotta love it
Just reminds me of my first ever love and the mother of my first and only child. Regrets, I've had a few. 😢
captivating episode, drew a big audience (i was one of them) Everybody was i love with these guys
My beloved Nellie caught Charlene's wedding bouquet - and didn't she look cute when she blushed and looked at Harold Bishop! I loved her so much. Charlene's wedding gown was so beautiful.
Those were the best days. They are a great couple. Wish they really married...
They were best of as just close friends . Kylie while on tour in Japan called Jason Donovan and broke it off
Happy day's 😘
@@starlight76able are you saying that there was a stage when they were engaged in real life? xxxx😀😃😀😃
Well they did date for three years - pretty much for the duration of their Neighbours time. It would have been nice, but not a lot of people marry the people they date when they are that young.
Yeah, you too?
My all time favourite episode of neighbours ever the song is amazing.
Back when Neighbours cast could actually act.
Ben Helweg I agree with you
Opinion.
I was 12 . Oh my loved this song angry Anderson . Loved the wedding takes me back to my child hood . Not crying at all lol maybe a bit 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I watched every episode ❤
I had this at my wedding ❤❤❤
Loved this tune❤❤❤total classic
Harold Bishop Aka Jelly Baby favorite character on neighbors. Great memories. 😉
it's such a shame Kylie has never found her Mr right in real life she's had some almosts bless her
I wanna cry. Kylie's dress are cute and beautiful. ❤️
Classic tune
Nothing like an 80s neighbours wedding with a good old bogan pash with tongues.
I can’t believe it use to be only 20 mins long? I thought it was at least 25 mins. For a 20 min episode it was damn successful in u.k in 80’s!
20mins without the opening sequence, closing credits and clips from the previous episode..they all added on 3 or 4 mins.
@@TF80s And ads - pads it all out to a half hour timeslot.
@@gemfyre855 Yeah but when it was on BBC there were no ads in it.
@@TF80s but the Beeb were clever there and allocated neighbours a start time of 5:35 . This made it finish at around 5:57 pm with a "normal " gap to allow for one trailer and a formal continuity announcement for the 6'O'clock news .
Wow memories I remember watching this as a child , farewell neighbours
Ha! I don't know what playlist to save to??? 😀
Absolute Classic!!
That wedding reception though - they really pushed the boat out there
Best TV wedding ever!
omg the song, absolutely love it
Came here after the finale 🤪
Best tv wedding ever.
Apart from miami vice
8:09 😂😂😂 Nell Mangel making eyes at Harold Bishop 😂😂😂
Got the neighbour s defining moments 2 dvds includeing the wedding of Scott and Charlene
This is the reason we chose suddenly for our first dance! ❤️Scott and charlene
Just would have been more romantic if Scott had of received a ring at the end as well.
Angry Anderson’s Suddenly was a nice musical addition.
As selected by Kylie herself, now that’s what I call taste.
Still married after over 32 years.
It was big part of my life and ever they where best actor actres
It was best soap and best wedding ever they are favourites
1987. What a year. Win a World Cup and Charlene & Scott get married !!
Amazing!!
This was huge back in the day & put angry Anderson on the pop culture map..
One of my favorites actor of all time
This episode was bigger than sliced bread
Love Scott and henry
is the wedding dress in a museum somewhere in oz?
Hilary is like a serious Swiss from what I've gathered in these episodes😂😂 she never laughs
anna ch or smiles😂😂
Hands up if the end of 'Neighbours' brought you here 🙋♂
Kids/Folk cant understand the impact of this show, BBC HAD to show it again in the evening (tea time) because kids were bunking school to see it at lunchtime, if you were off ill or school holidays you could grab the 'early showing' OR see it twice (often!!) there was board games, some went on to be pop stars, other Hollywood actors (Guy Pearce, Jim Dale) this was some show , there were soaps before of course BUT this one really hit the kid's interest, we loved it !!
I had a cousin that lived in Australia that would send me VHS tapes of their episodes, they were like 18months ahead and I had NO Idea whom many were.
We ALL wanted to live in Erinsborough
Also aided by Michael Grade’s daughter asking him to move to repeat to the evening so she and her friends didn’t miss it.
brings back memories the old neighbours since the changed the time never get to watch it with work times
I'm watching this because I love Kylie, but I have so many questions about what's going on between the characters.
They're all having affairs with each other. 😉
@Andy Salter Wouldn't meth dealers be able to afford better clothes?
@Andy Salter My mum used to watch this in the afternoons. They wouldn't have had a meth dealer drama on at that time.
