I'd say this was way better, the helmet always had a grin on its face which was pretty awkward in a couple scenes. The face could be expressive and gave off a monster vibe.
At first I was going to defend the movie, and explain how the physical mask was a way to show the Green Goblin as a human like Spiderman with different circumstances... then I was going to mention how having the unmoving mask to represent his dissociative identity dirorder was chilling enough... but then the thought of that animatronic remaining perfectly still for most of the scene, and suddenly bursting to life in his hands was so much cooler in my head. Though in all seriousness, I see why they changed the idea. In the narrative of the first movie, a human villain was necessary, and this mask would have made him more... well, goblin like. It's perfect for the comic book villain of the Green Goblin, and I hope this thing can be in use somehow, but for the movie itself it might have been a better choice in the end.
For Me It's A Mixed Bag I Love The Green Goblin Helmet In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Film But I Think It Would Be So Cool To See A Mask That Stays True To The Comics
I have learned one thing from this video The way the green goblin mask works in the comics would be horrifying in live action the prosthetics for the mask are amazing but I honestly prefer the costume they went with in the actual movie
Great scrapped video! I like the helmet version that they chose for The Green Goblin in Spider Man 1. William Dafoe played that so well!! That prosthetic/puppets Goblin head is pretty creepy and cool though:)
HEY GUYS! Thanks for watching, as always. Wondering which "Goblin" you preferred...the one the chose or THIS scrapped concept. ALSO, let me know if you want a Spider-Man cookie!!!
I'm glad they went with the helmet instead, too. But why though? Is it because that animatronic mask would have scared kids in not a good way? Because that's what I thought.
What they should have done is explained more about Osborn's affinity for masks in the film (as you can see his collection hanging on the walls) Apart of this collection could be a goblin styled mask. This could be Norman's inspiration for the helmet mask we see later. I just think an explanation for the sudden goblin mask would help audiences be more accepting of it. Story telling to me has always been not about the who, where, what or when, it's about the why.
My dad told me on some website when they were thinking of ideas for Spider-Man they were thinking that the Green Goblin mask was going to be part of his skin, below the hairline would be a small line where he would pull it down & there was the goblin mask, which actually sounds pretty cool. & the reason why they went with the Helmet look was because Willem Dafoe didn't want to wear prosthetics & gave them ideas he wanted for a mask.
I personally like the idea of a half-faced Goblin mask- like Batman’s cowl in The Dark Knight. That way, his face would still be hidden, and we would still be able to see him move his mouth and whatnot.
This thing was simply magnificent. There's no doubt in my mind they would've altered this, tweaked it in little ways like making it darker, adding little details here and there to make it even more intimidating etc. This is clearly a test model. Frankly, I think this should have made it into the final film, it's too good to be scrapped the way it was. The one in the film is just embarassing to look at.
Despite how impressive this is, I think that a more comic accurate looking goblin would’ve been much harder to take seriously then the design we got in the movie because the comic goblin looks more like one out of a little kids book while the one we got in the movie looks much more menacing in my book
This Mask Is Perfect The Match The Character Of The Green Goblin, But The Helmet From The Final Project Made Easier To Reveal The Goblin’s Identity And For Norman To Fool Peter And Kill Him (Even Do It Didn’t Worked).
I like the helmet one from the movie better since it didn't look as horrifying towards kids (otherwise, this animatronic mask would have scared kids in not a good way).
Wait, they could of used this?! Why not? They could of used this and then added the current helmet version later as the character grows; then fans could choose what they liked more. This looks stunning, like a world of warcraft movie CGI but through animatronics! Why did they not use this at all? It's years ahead of its time! Thanks +ChrisCrossMedia for find it! :)
I think at that point in time hollywood was still trying to make Superhero movies somewhat grounded in reality. Like how the X-men wore leather instead of costumes. In retrospect this may be the one element that feels almost dated. Costumes are king!
You're absolutely right! If this was made today - it would have been different. Those early years ALL had to have some form of reality or grounded explanation of why it worked. Which is fine - but it's different
The animatronics are *far superior*. I don't think anybody liked the helmet. I'd rather they just painted Willem's face green. He was scary all on his own. I remember seeing this in the theater. When he first got gassed and started strangling the lab techie, a boy in the theater started crying in fear. I thought, "Wow! This is gonna be good!" Then... the helmet. Aye me.
It does at times go into "Power Ranger" territory...which isn't a bad thing. I look at it as just a flight suit helmet...which is what they were going for. So I was okay with it...but after seeing this, you begin to wonder what could have been...
Honestly I just love the comic and movie goblin all around. Spider-Man 1 was my first hero movie and I immediately loved green goblin keep in mind I was 4 when the movie came out Probably a weird kid to be drawn towards a villain more than the hero
I honestly am glad they went with the design that showed up in the movie. People call it power-ranger esque, but I just think it compliments his powers, making him scarier. Making him look goofy would throw it off, and you wouldn't be able to take the first film as seriously.
I remember hearing what happened with this is that this was uncomfortable for Willem Dafoe, and Sam Raimi felt that it would take people out of the moment if there was just this moving make that had no explanation whatsoever. It makes sense. When I first saw it as a little kid I thought Goblin just made it out of the same stuff as the suit. It’d be hard to explain why this completely different mask made from different materials came from. Granted, I think I would’ve liked this one more, just for how expressive it is.
I hope to god they don't cause that means more lazy cgi but this universe seems to be taking a lot from ultimate for some reason idk why I like ultimate but not like regular ultimate is way more dark and depressing
How much fail can you fit into one 2 minute video? ChrisCrossMedia: "Yes!" ... You first 'forget' (or at least act like it) the name of one of the most well renowned and talented actors that has been working for decades right up to today (including 2016 when this video was uploaded.) You then repeatedly mispronounce this universally acclaimed actor's name as "'William." You go on to state that 'you preferred' the lame futuristic plastic helmet design, to this genuinely awesome prosthetic mask that looks like it leapt straight off the pages of the original comics' character design into real life. To top it all, you then finish you tour de faux pas by also mispronouncing the new Spider-Man actor's surname as "Hollands." Hey, I'm noticing a trend here. You're not great with remembering actors or their names are you? This is the first time I've come across your channel and I notice that you've not uploaded a single new video in nearly a year ... So perhaps the channel itself is now 'scrapped.' Which, if this video is any example of your typical efforts, is probably the best thing for everyone, all around.
Project leaders: “You’re out.”
Designer of the OG mask: “DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I’VE SACRIFICED!?”
OMG YES
"OUT AM I?"
“BACK TO FORMULA?!”
This comment:P
This is 100% Accurate to how to goblin looked in the comics.
I'd say this was way better, the helmet always had a grin on its face which was pretty awkward in a couple scenes. The face could be expressive and gave off a monster vibe.
Jurassic Reptile this would have been such a different character for sure! Super interested in how this would've worked
It isn't. This would tear off of his face with Green Goblin's flying speed.
first glance would be scary, but progressively comical in later looks.
depends how it would be with a voice...
As opposed to the power rangers mask which was just comical from the start
At first I was going to defend the movie, and explain how the physical mask was a way to show the Green Goblin as a human like Spiderman with different circumstances... then I was going to mention how having the unmoving mask to represent his dissociative identity dirorder was chilling enough... but then the thought of that animatronic remaining perfectly still for most of the scene, and suddenly bursting to life in his hands was so much cooler in my head.

I love your thoughts on this...and yes..very chilling indeed!!!
I couldn't agree more.
The biggest problem with this one is that at the speeds at which the Green Goblin flies at, this thing would tear off of his face.
@@SirBlackReeds yeah but nobody cares about that, we're talking of a movie where a mutated spider's bite gives you spider powers.
@@SirBlackReeds it’s a damn movie to entertain.

Why Did You Capitalize Every Word??

I think having the armor GG or Sam's GG for there first fight or so then have the classic comic one
Great scrapped video! I like the helmet version that they chose for The Green Goblin in Spider Man 1. William Dafoe played that so well!! That prosthetic/puppets Goblin head is pretty creepy and cool though:)
Dafoe is seriously THE BEST! AVENGE MEEEEEEEEEE
HEY GUYS! Thanks for watching, as always. Wondering which "Goblin" you preferred...the one the chose or THIS scrapped concept.
ALSO, let me know if you want a Spider-Man cookie!!!
I honestly like the mask they chose for the movie better. It just makes the goblin look like he has no emotion, and does not regret what he is doing.
I like that! I also liked that through the eye lens, you could still see William Dafoe's eyes
YOU WANT ONE??
i want a cookie...
Willem not William 👍
Man I always come back to this thinking how cool it looked they should have gone with it
Thank god they went for the new one
I'm glad they went with the helmet instead, too. But why though? Is it because that animatronic mask would have scared kids in not a good way? Because that's what I thought.

HipsterWhovianJedi makes sense! I'm sure he wanted to give more of a performance "as" himself! Thanks for the info!
No problem, if you need any other ideas for a scrapped episode let me know, I might know a few more things that got scrapped.
I personally like the idea of a half-faced Goblin mask- like Batman’s cowl in The Dark Knight. That way, his face would still be hidden, and we would still be able to see him move his mouth and whatnot.
This wasn’t used because it was too uncomfortable, it was just going to be a mask in universe, just like in the comics.
My question is were is that mask now?
This thing was simply magnificent. There's no doubt in my mind they would've altered this, tweaked it in little ways like making it darker, adding little details here and there to make it even more intimidating etc. This is clearly a test model. Frankly, I think this should have made it into the final film, it's too good to be scrapped the way it was. The one in the film is just embarassing to look at.
I think it looks really good but you gotta look at from a parents view. This thing could have SCARRED kids for life
Honestly that wouldn't be so bad.
Now there was a scrapped SCRAPPED video
absoulty love your channel bro!
Thanks for coming Mr. Wayne...

I like the helmet mask one but I also like this one as well but mostly the mask
Can u do one on the Batman beyond live action movie tht was suppose to happen but got cancelled?
The animatronic mask would’ve been so much better

Wouldn't the Ultimate Goblin be AMAZING!! Would love to see that on screen!!
Looks creepy 😕
The unused mask looks very menacing, I would love to see that in a movie
A thing of nightmares
i want one...

They aren't. This mask would come apart given the speeds that the Green Goblin flies at.
That one dislike must be the green goblin.

That is so much better than harry Osborn in amazing spider man 2
Actually, believe it or not, I find 2014 Spider Man 2's Harry as Goblin more interesting and not too creepy in comparison. ^_^

Reminds of the cartoon.
Mcu won't do a villian like green goblin. All they're gonna do is use fucking aliens and shit.
Anyone else think it looks like Corbin is glacé from infinity war?
But nothing was better than Willem Dafoes Mimik in NWH
Wi definitely prefer this
I like the mask better
The helmet was horrible. This original mask would be amazing to see in nwh.
This would be a hell of a lot better ;)
Think this mask would be better for the most Fans
Considering the target audience was kids, I understand why they changed it.
May I have a cookie?
Gotta make a fresh batch!
Tyreace Daniels
I WANT ONE !
Shabnam Shabafroozan which one? A Tobey Cookie or a burnt Andrew Garfield cookie??
+ChrisCrossMedia I WANT THEM ALL
Hey man can I have some too please I like some of those pancakes the Andrew ones
This is better
That cool
Really? It looks unsettling to me. 0_0
Its not "William" Dafoe, its "Willem Dafoe 🤦♂️
They should do the Ultimate Green Goblin
I hope to god they don't cause that means more lazy cgi but this universe seems to be taking a lot from ultimate for some reason idk why I like ultimate but not like regular ultimate is way more dark and depressing

Willem.
