Nah dude that helmet looks sick I always thought it looked pretty cool and scary especially when I first saw the movie. The way the eyes folded back seemed like a cool way to do the expression. And the way it connects to how Norman was obsessed with masks especially Japanese Shinobi masks making Norman wanna make his own version makes the look and origin that much better in my opinion. My only problem with it and the rest of the original suit was that it just looked kinda...naked. Some purple or extra gadgets or even just a belt would've really brought the look together which is what the no way home design fixed perfectly. Just wish the helmet came back.
SAME ! It was such a dumb decision to do away with the organic mask which looked significantly better and much more comic book accurate than the metal helmet that we ended up getting in the final film ! WTF 🙄🤦😒 !?!?!?
They could have had more fun with it. I'm thinking of a helmet like cowl, like Batman, might have worked with his mouth completely exposed but wearing eye lenses so you can see his expression. It could have originally been a full face mask/shield but Norman could have been shown modifying it and ripping off the mouth guard or better yet Spidey smashing the mouth guard in their first conflict and little by little Norman's face is exposed as with each fight his helmet is chipped away until the big reveal at the very end of the movie.
They should have just put some green make up fx on willam dafoe made it a side effect of the formula Tbh green goblin is a difficult villain to pull off in live action
I think making the lens retactable so you can see his eyes was a good move and i actually really liked the wind screen over the mouth that wasnt completely opaque so you can see Dafoe talking through the mask looked cool. It was as if you could literally see Osborn being consumed by the Goblin in a way
The problem is there isn't a real world application they can use with it, like the version in the movie is for military uses, that being said I'd prefer the original design

I don't think we will ever get a fully comic accurate suit in live action for any superheroes , studios think they are too good for them unfortunately 😢 i just wanna see a one to one exact copy of the ditko / romita era Spiderman suit!
A lot of people complained about the Penguin in Batman Returns being so scary for children. They used an old mold for the first action figure. Sony, of course, didn't want to lose money with licensing deals or angry parents. 😊
I think I prefer the final costume. It matched that movie's vibe. They could however, reuse this early concept mask for new movies after Sam Raimi's trilogy ended.
I believe that nowadays, a comic accurate Green Goblin design with prosthetics is possible. Take Art The Clown for example. That is some great prosthetics at work there and I know for sure Willem Dafoe's gonna kill it if he was ever given a chance to do that.
I understand why they made that choice at that time - they were trying to find the right balance for a superhero movie to take off into the mainstream, and there are a number of different approaches we see movies taking in those years - what I really would like to see is Chris Cooper getting a chance to actually be the Green Goblin; that was such tantalizing casting that ended up w no real payoff
I still think in No Way Home they should have had Green Goblin put the eye piece of his mask on. That way you still get his mask's eyes and see most of Defoe's face.
Toby was also wearing a plastic mask under the Spidey mask, which also took away from the believability of a guy in a cloth mask. I agree that Norman's skin could have turned green when he was the Goblin as a side effect of the serum. But would anyone have figured out that it was Norman?
This is actually the first time I’ve seen a congregation of haters of the 2000’s Green Goblin’s design. I have always gotten the vibe from people that it was a very different and bold design choice that everybody ended up loving.
Hollywood and their, not comic accurate films make no sense. What fan would complain if they went comic accurate with superhero and villain costume designs?? Instead we constantly get these designs that look nothing like they do in the comic books.
To be fair, the mask worked out much better than this for the movie. It wouldn't make much sense for both Norman and his Goblin personality to coexist at the same time with the comic accurate look, plus the mask gave us a deeper look at Norman's psyche, with Norman "talking" with his Goblin personality through the mask.
I don’t get why people hate the helmet design It looks good plus for me it helps differentiate him amongst the other green goblins nothing has to be 100% comic book accurate heck the Spider-Man suit used in the film isn’t even 100% comic book accurate none of the life action Spider-Man’s are 100% accurate to the comic and that’s what differentiates them and gives them their own unique take on the character. 2002 green goblin is very similar to that aspect it doesn’t have to be 100% to be good because of the character himself still feels like green goblin unlike amazing Spider-Man 2’s green goblin now that was just horrible.
To be fair, in TASM2 it was Harry, not Norman. They were very different from eachother in the comics too. The original helmet was stupid; a cowl with an open lower face wouls have been the best compromise between comic accuracy and realism.
@@FuzzyFoot58 TASM2 electro was the main highlight for me in that movie yeah the design could’ve been better but I still liked his character, No Way Home may have given him the best looking design but I do like the character arc more in TASM2
@perfectorganism2504 I agree that Electro was the highlight villain, but I didnt like how they shoved him aside after they put him in Ravencroft. Nor did I like his obsession with Spidey. They could have just made him a very lonely guy with anger issues about being mistreated at work instead of being a lonely dork. Also, where the hell did he get his suit? Apparently, they filmed several sidestories that were cut (like Mary Jane being fully introduced, played by the girl who was the lead in the Divergent movies, and Richard Parker being revealed to still be alive and working on... the Venom symbiote!) and the actors said that they barely recognised the final cut compared to what they had actually filmed.
@@FuzzyFoot58 yeah his motivation could’ve been done a bit better for me though it’s a better motivation than needing Spider-Man‘s blood Harry Osbourne is incredibly rich and yet he doesn’t think that he can afford all the best physicians and doctors also spider-Man/Peter Parker not helping seems very unlikely to me considering they’re supposed to be best friends. It’s very strange. That movie felt like a whole can of worms but at least it wasn’t the worst spider movie I think we all know what that title goes to Madame Webb
I mean Willem Dafoe is already some ear prosthetics, contacts, a chin extension and a can green body paint away from the Green Goblin. Just use a some good practical and a bit of cg to pretend hes pulling off a mask..
I never understood the Goblin costume. But when those animatronic mask tests were put on UA-cam DECADES later, man..what a missed opportunity. Mind you, I always wonder what James Cameron’s movie would have been like. Btw, they also scrapped the mechanical web shooters very late into production, and they may have even filmed a section with them. Don’t quote me on that though. I’m still of the opinion that it should have been mechanical. But I haven’t read the comics since the 1980s.. so what do I know 😂
As cool as it would have been, they made the right choice for the time. Also, the helmet made it easier for the Norman Osborne character to exist simultaneously with the goblin. Made the switching between the 2 less clunky. I hated the weird makeup look in the Andy Garfield movies BTW.
Maybe the mcu could reuse the design for Hobgoblin in a future movie. That would be cool! They just would need to change the color to the Hobgoblin's color scheme.
I'm satisfied with what we got! It's perfect. We got to see him interact with his son and Spider-Man despite being Green Goblin, it brought more tension.
So would that have been some kinda of expressive mask Osborne put on or would he werewolf into that face when he became the Goblin? IDK how it works in the comics. It was also kinda odd because Osborne's power came from a gas so the suit was just armor to protect from handguns. But I think people would have been fine with the alternative mask, because a lot of the Spider-Man audience were TMNT live action kids.
They said a guy in a goblin mask would look silly? I think it's even more silly for the movie to feature a multi-billion dollar tech company that designs an advanced combat suit that has a helmet that looks like a goblins face...
They payed a serious actor to wear a helmet instead of a mask... maybe we'll get a comic acurate hobgoblin instead of ned. Pretty sure ned goblin would be heart wrenching. Freakin love the guy in the chair!
I’ve always said I didn’t think it would’ve gone over, with mainstream & casual fans. It’d have been seen as “too cheesy” & “silly” in a “way too fake” kind of way. I mean, this was the early-2000s & comic book movies still hadn’t got overall, with widespread audiences. People nowadays forget that, or just don’t realize it…or, in other words, They weren’t even around for it, or at least not old enough to know what was going on in the world. 2:42 I just reached this part & seeing you mention this a bit. But, until this very movie & X-Men, outside of the Superman movies, they just weren’t accepted like they are now. Just a few reasons, all out together, is why it wouldn’t have worked.
Yeah I agree! It was a different time and we've had to slowly break the mainstream down to be more open. Hopefully it'll be something they look at in the future movies 🙏
@ I will agree, that NOW..? I think people would go for it, AND the technology is there, to make it work. It may have to be “shifted” or tweaked a tiny bit, & not be 100% comic accurate. But, like 95-98% true to the source material. I mean…we have had mainstream audiences accept things like STARRO & freaking MODOK (sort of, on the latter. Lol!)! Point is just that the last 25 years had thrown some pretty “Comic Funky” things, at audiences; & they’ve accepted it fully. It does seem movies have been getting closer & closer to full comic accurate. Marvel just figured it out, by dampening, darkening, & muting the bright-ass colors. That is the biggest problem, with it transferring to realism. Then, DC starts taking it back to comic vibrancy (literally), with The Suicide Squad. Lol! I guess I keep pointing to that second Suicide Sqaud, as an example of “comic accurate”. I mean, I’ve always thought Peacemaker looks cheesy & as ridiculous as all get-out. Lol! But, look at where they’re taken THAT character. I’ll put it this way, with modern makeup & CGI combination - if I can watch a 2.5-movie movie AND an 8-episode show of Colin Ferrell playing The PENGUIN…and the entire time keep forgetting it’s Colin himself bc of the ridiculously good makeup, costume, & effects..? Then, we know we’ve mace it to “that point”. That make sense? Lol!
@@longboxcomics I mean…. I’m about to turn 43, in just over a month. So, I have been here for the nature ride. I was already in COLLEGE, for the first Spider-Man & X-Men movies. So, my entire uprooting, the Chris Reeves Superman movies, the 4 Batman movies, & the terrible-looking Captain America & Spider-Man movies from the 70s & 80s were IT! Lol! The original The Flash show, from the early-90s, my Dad & I loved. We thought it helped move things along, as well. And let’s be real..:Batman is so popular today because even I was just onscreen ‘89 Batman REALLY changed the game. That is THE movie you could point to & say “THERE! THAT did it!!” It also showed that a comic movie could be dark & gritty, with SOME realism. Even the fact that in the eyes of Mainstream, ALL they knew was the 6d Adam West show. So, the ‘89 Batman was a HUGE step forward…just in changing people’s perception of Batman HIMSELF, let alone comics as a WHOLE! Lol! Man, I could talk about this for HOURS, on the progression of comic books adapted into film - both TV & movies.
@@BrottenGuy In the 1960s and the 1970s, superhero television series usually didn’t have the budget to be anything more than “corny looking”. The Christopher Reeve Superman films were different because they were major motion pictures with budgets suitable for the big screen…and so was the Tim Burton Batman film in 1989. You have to remember that costumes and special effects improve over the decades and the budgets only grow bigger because the best special effects and costumes require larger budgets.
@@MelissaWickersham-k4o Right. I’m not “NOT remembering” or forgotten those things whatsoever. And completely understand them. I am a professional artist myself. Nearly 20 years deep, into a Graphic Design career; that I am currently teaching myself & transition into 3D printing & animation. In fact, it wasn’t even always the budget. There were times they DID have THAT. It was the technology, at the time, just as much. They didn’t even have the tools & resources, to do it…because they didn’t exist. Movies like Star Wars & TRON helped move that along. But, even THOSE were brand new & “cutting edge”. So, if the techniques &/or tools DID exist, then that is when budget comes into play. But, yeah. I’m fully aware, of these things. My entire upbringing, the 60s, 70s, & 80s adaptations were ALL we had out there. I even watched the original The Flash show, with my dad, every week or came on with a new episode. Lol! I was raised in a science fiction-loving (or “sci-fi”) household. Lol! My Dad is who introduced me to COMICS even, when I was in the hospital for my second surgery, at just 6-years old. Even remember the issue & still have it (as wrinkly as it is): Fantastic Four Vol 1, Issue 21; Super-Sized Annual, “Guest Starring The Inhumans”, part of the ‘Evolutionary War’ story arc, from 1988. Lol! (Sorry…I had to list it all out, so there was no confusion. Lol!) Anyway…but, in a way, a lot of that is somewhat irrelevant. Because it doesn’t change what the public saw. We ALL knew WHY it looked so “crappy” & “cheap”…that is because it WAS. Lol! When it comes to budget, though…that’s because studios & producers, or whoever else in the Hollywood business, didn’t think they’d do well, anyway. So, they didn’t throw a lot of fishing that way. Comics were still viewed as just “little kids media”. So, that’s the level of “seriousness” they received. Lol! It’s kind of ironic, in a way, that it was Batmans’s fault, that comic shows & movies went that cheesy, campy route, to BEGIN with; only for Batman ‘89 to be the first movie or show to TRULY CHANGE that. Even after 1989 & Batman Returns in ‘92, it still took a little while to get going, with the masses. Basically, no matter the reasoning behind it (to which no, I have not forgotten & am fully aware what that is. Lol!), it is still how they were viewed, by the general population & the masses. It was going to take time, to change that. Even with Spider-Man here, part of why I don’t think it would’ve worked is because the technology STILL wasn’t there. Something like this should be practical effects first, then using CGI to do “touch-ups” & to “clean it up”; making it seamless, with reality itself. That was the ORIGINAL point, in using CGI for special effects. Jurassic Park did this properly, all the way back in ‘93! That movie set the tone & pace, and showed EVERYone both what CAN be done, as WELL as HOW to do it…PROPERLY & CORRECTLY. Lol! Just….people doing listen & pay attention, to that. Therefore…. It just got WAY out of hand, with filmmakers using ONLY computer graphics, to make everything. Anyway…no matter what, I don’t think Green Goblin would have looked “good ENOUGH”, for people to accept it. They kind of HAD to go this route, BECAUSE of the technological hindrances. I just don’t see any way they could’ve made it “Right”, back in 2000. Just curious, but did I say something that may have given the impression that I DIDN’T know (of even FORGOT about) of the financial & technological insufficiencies, of the day?
It is probably because they hate comic books so much that they would think it beneath them to actually do anything comic book accurate in any way, She hulk, Ms Marvel, anyone.
They EASILY could have utilized that mask in the Aunt May break in scene as sort of a nightmare sequence. Like only she could see him for the demon he actually is. "THOSE EYES" would've made that much more sense. I wouldn't mind a fan made cgi rendition for exactly that.
A few tweaks to that original design would have been amazing. What we ended up getting was better than if they had gone a CGI route at the time. People forget that the first Spider-Man movie was almost completely reimagined and severely delayed due to 9/11. Many of the original elements were scrapped and production shifted gears to efficiency. Anything that decreased efficiency that could be scraped, without significant impact on the end product, had to go.
I actually liked the helmet. But if I had to make him emote, here's what I'd do. The upper part of the helmet will be the goblin eyes and nose, but with the mouth exposed. Think Batman's cowl but its armored. Goblin would wear a green translucent mouth shield/mouth plate that will make him show his emotions better. You mentioned Deadpool's expressive suite and mask. What if GG wears a skin tight suit, but its made for combat and military uses. Its fire proof, bullet proof, hard to pierce (except for teh glider) can withstand heat and coldness, and can take blunt force. The mask will also be the same, and the face can be modified for protection, which gives it a goblinish look. It also has eye shields, and a mouth guard. Or you can have what teh Ultimate Universe did and have Norman transform into the Goblin. But instead of him looking like the Abomination with wings, he'll look more like his 616 counterpart. He's be stronger, faster, harder skin and bones, and a complete psycho. Think Jekyll and Hyde if that makes sense. Which one do you like?
The only scene in that movie that I actively cringed at in the theater when I watched it was the one on top of the roof where the Goblin proposes working together. Two guys in masks, where you can't see any facial expressions or mouth movements on a set that looks like a set rather than a real rooftop. Ugh. However, to the point of this video... the GG mask that they tested, and opted to not use, would have been so much better for the movie. It looked great!
Studios need to stop w/ the realistic bs. There comic movies it's meant to be over the top and it can still be grounded,we could of also has a comic accurate apocalypse too in xmen but for what ever reason they wanted and Ivan ooze distant cousin look to him which was terrible just like the goblin mask that was the final design
Clearly I’m in the minority, but I have always loved the film helmet and think it’s incredibly badass and and cool looking, it’s contemporary, original, and fits within the world and what is established by the film. A few tweaks to the overall costume like what was done in no way home could have gone a long way to making it one of the better costumes of the 2000s in my opinion. Some comic costumes in my opinion are not ever going to translate well to film and the green goblin is one of them, the rubber mask Halloween look may have worked in the 60s and may look good in art but in live action it just doesn’t in my honest opinion. I think lately we are getting lost in the comic accuracy craze and I while I love a costume that honours the original comics, part of what made superhero films special to me is the challenge of making these wild characters and their crazy awesome costumes work in a “realistic” real world setting. Norman throwing on a animatronic rubber mask to go along with his military grade battle armour and glider just doesn’t really work in my opinion. It’s also something to remember that these films aren’t the comics, they are adaptations inspired by classic characters and I think that lends to a little creative freedom when translating them to different media. Maybe I’m biased but I just love the helmet and wish it got more recognition and love, and if anyone hasn’t seen it the comic version of the 2002 movie, the goblins costume looks fantastic when made into art and really makes me appreciate the whole look a lot more than just the helmet. Anyways great video, while I’m not a fan of it the animatronic mask is really interesting and I I’m curious how it would have looked in the finished film.
I'm so glad they didn't use this other mask. I don't think it would have been more expressive, but less. Which perhaps Dafoe felt as well. The use of masks is a technique actors learn and has been part of their repertoire for thousands of years. It changes the way an actor moves, turns their head, uses their voice- all things Dafoe understands and used. With an essentially animatronic mask, which would have been fine I suppose, you could have used any actor since it's the puppeteers who then do all the acting. Certainly you might have been less likely to get an actor of such high calibre interested in playing the character, though, and that would mean we wouldn't have had him for No Way Home. But also, the use of masks is itself a theme in the story and draws on a huge background of history and meaning. Without it the Green Goblin in the film is just a creepy monster. Not that I have anything against creepy monsters in movies, but that's all they are. A quick thrill for the hero to vanquish. Fun but limited.
2:21 "they aimed for a more modern and realistic look"..... ummmm realistic how? I went into that movie with zero expectations because movies always screw up the source material. So I had low expectations..... I ended up enjoying the movie but it had 2 dramatic flaws....the silver webs on the Spiderman suit made it look like "Disco Spider-man" and the Goblin looked like a naked robot....a horrid choice. The movie would have held up much better had they went with the mask you show here but with the proper peak on his brow as without that it looks like "Receding Hairline Goblin"....but still would have been better than C3po's Angry Green Cousin.
Now was that supposed to be a mask in-universe or was it supposed to be his own transformed face? If the former, you'd have a time explaining where it came from and why. If the latter, it flags up the change between Norman and the Goblin, which I think would've changed his performance. For example, in NWH, the Goblin wouldn't have been able to fool Peter after he suddenly turned green and sprouted pointy ears.
Says a lot about Defoe as a actor in the last movie all he needed was some lighting with a green tint I would love to see the miles morales goblin in live action one day
Even at the time the Goblin Suit was mocked as being something out of Power Rangers. Huge misstep on their part. The comic accurate suit would have blown people's minds
It’s ironic that they used Willem Dafoe who she natural features are naturally ghoulish and goblin like. Woulda been nice if they coulda did something with them, enhancing them or altering them somehow to indicate some kind of transformation
I like comic book accurate but comic book accurate is usually bright and suspends belief just a bit. Nolans Batman was great but no way with his directoral style and need for gritty realism he could do comic book accurate Batman, Joker and Bane. You would need a Director who can do dynamic and dramatic light and shadow with bright pastels, similar to The late Jonathan Demme to pull off comic book accurate, Maybe Spike Lee, Steven Soderbergh or Oliver Stone kind of guys.
3:20 its all in the eyes. if the yellow eyes had the pupil over them or something, maybe even anime style redrawing like how some early 3d and live action stuff was. not those modern disney remakes.
This one would have been better instead of that power rangers suit but with William dafoe's acting skills and facial features it wouldn't have taken much to really make him look like the Green goblin but they didn't & they blew the chance in Spider-Man no way home
I don’t mind the armor suit but the reason they got rid of the mask is cause it freaked out the kids even tho they are the ones letting there kids watch a pg 13 movie but that’s just me
I didn't like the Goblin suit back then and I don't like it nowadays. I was always wondering why they chose such a bad mask for this iconic character. Would have loved seeing the mask from screen testing in the final movie ❤
i think power ranger goblin looks just fine, and is over hated. also many children wouldve been turned-off and terrified by the realistic goblin face. complaining that the armor isn’t comic accurate is also dumb, it’s like saying that norman in the movie isn’t accurate since he doesn’t have the waves haircut
I honestly would have preferred the original comic accurate design- I can visualize that mask on green goblin right when he says “speak of the devil!” Though at the same time, I think they should have painted Dafoe’s face with the correct tone of green.
1:18 I liked the Rhino mec, but yah, that’s not how you do an adaptation. Comic accurate Rhino looks stupid because that’s part of the story. He’s a sad guy stuck in a suit.
They could have just painted Dafoe’s face green and gave him some pointy ears, yellow eyes and a nose prosthetic. He’s 90% goblin already.
What a compliment!😅

And Willem Defoe was the most Perfect casting but that CLUNKY helmet totally undermined the possible Menace and was SUCH a letdown
Great video, very well-made, concise content. Subscribed!
They should of done it like the comics where it’s not so obvious he’s the goblin
@perfectorganism2504 Most definately true. That movie was horrible.
That test footage mask looked great! What a missed opportunity… because the one they went with genuinely felt like a power rangers costume.
But I haven’t read the comics since the 1980s.. so what do I know 😂
I wish we could have gotten this along with Snake face Voldemort and the creatures from Ripley Scott’s I am Legend
Willem Dafoe played a phenomenal Norman/Goblin, but i always thought his all-green armor and aerodynamic bike helmet looked ridicuous.
As cool as it would have been, they made the right choice for the time. Also, the helmet made it easier for the Norman Osborne character to exist simultaneously with the goblin. Made the switching between the 2 less clunky. I hated the weird makeup look in the Andy Garfield movies BTW.
This is WAY better than the helmet.
The helmet looks awesome 😎
@@peteuplink exactly! 💯
Even the fact that in the eyes of Mainstream,
ALL they knew was the 6d Adam West show. So, the ‘89 Batman was a HUGE step forward…just in changing people’s perception of Batman HIMSELF, let alone comics as a WHOLE! Lol!
Man, I could talk about this for HOURS, on the progression of comic books adapted into film - both TV & movies.
@@BrottenGuy
In the 1960s and the 1970s, superhero television series usually didn’t have the budget to be anything more than “corny looking”.
Lol!)
Anyway…but, in a way, a lot of that is somewhat irrelevant.
It's basically fast food. They don't wanna cook. And make excuses. True artists cook.
So.... let em cook
They be cooking at comic con. Because they are true artists.
I’ve never seen that mask mock up but holy smokes that would have been SO MUCH better
Spiderverse Goblin doesn't count, it's Ultimate Green Goblin
Love the AEW TNT Championship behind you!
Thank you! My youngest asked for it for Christmas a few years ago. He loves Darby Allin!
@ He has good taste!
I actually liked the metal mask , organic one is nice but the metal one worked for me
They should've went with the Alex Ross versions of the costumes.
Agreed! The master himself.
I wonder, what the hobgoblin would've looked like in comic accuracy for live action film. Would he be too scary looking for the kids to watch?
Wait there's a Lore Reason?
Looks amazing, but people back then might not have accepted it as well.
Says a lot about Defoe as a actor in the last movie all he needed was some lighting with a green tint I would love to see the miles morales goblin in live action one day
Realisim in a comic book villain. Please. 🙄
Too Evil Dead…which is what we needed
This would have made "Spider-Man" from classic to ultra classic.
I think the mask we got was better
@@sjhwbs Yes, if you like the Power Rangers. ~🙄
The Goblin suit in the final movie looked like a Power Rangers villain knock-off. the mask version was way better, studios are idiots.
Even with the new design, it was still the Green Goblin, but they could have made the OG mask work.
-JMM
Uh... you do know, even in the comic, the Goblin wasn't an actual goblin.
Even at the time the Goblin Suit was mocked as being something out of Power Rangers. Huge misstep on their part. The comic accurate suit would have blown people's minds
We've got older tom holland talking about the green goblin
It’s ironic that they used Willem Dafoe who she natural features are naturally ghoulish and goblin like. Woulda been nice if they coulda did something with them, enhancing them or altering them somehow to indicate some kind of transformation
The helmet is cool but I love this concept mask
I like comic book accurate but comic book accurate is usually bright and suspends belief just a bit. Nolans Batman was great but no way with his directoral style and need for gritty realism he could do comic book accurate Batman, Joker and Bane. You would need a Director who can do dynamic and dramatic light and shadow with bright pastels, similar to The late Jonathan Demme to pull off comic book accurate, Maybe Spike Lee, Steven Soderbergh or Oliver Stone kind of guys.
Willem, not William.
3:20 its all in the eyes. if the yellow eyes had the pupil over them or something, maybe even anime style redrawing like how some early 3d and live action stuff was. not those modern disney remakes.
The idea that the mask was too silly for Spider-Man 1, a movie that is completely silly, is pretty silly.
This one would have been better instead of that power rangers suit but with William dafoe's acting skills and facial features it wouldn't have taken much to really make him look like the Green goblin but they didn't & they blew the chance in Spider-Man no way home
I’m torn, the movie mask fit the story they were telling but the comic mask is impressive
There wasn't really an explanation why he had a goblin mask in the first place. The suit was supposed to be like harry osbornes suit in spiderman 3
It's not realistic though. Who would go through all that effort to make a mask like that? And why??
Theres no technically involved, u are right ab rhino. 💯, its a mutation, not a suit, youre not TECHNICALLY correct, youre just correct
i think power ranger goblin looks just fine, and is over hated. also many children wouldve been turned-off and terrified by the realistic goblin face. complaining that the armor isn’t comic accurate is also dumb, it’s like saying that norman in the movie isn’t accurate since he doesn’t have the waves haircut
I always liked the helmet and it works well in the film. That's just me
I honestly would have preferred the original comic accurate design- I can visualize that mask on green goblin right when he says “speak of the devil!” Though at the same time, I think they should have painted Dafoe’s face with the correct tone of green.
1:18 I liked the Rhino mec, but yah, that’s not how you do an adaptation. Comic accurate Rhino looks stupid because that’s part of the story. He’s a sad guy stuck in a suit.
Organic mask would of been absolutely amazing
Probably because Norman try to make this a weapon for the military, at first. No general would want their soldiers too look like goblins.
I wonder if we will ever get this Goblin. I guess the answer is no
With AI, we can go back and redo the scenes with a comic accurate Goblin.
Like the TNT title in the background. Love some AEW
Thank you! I brought it for my youngest who is a huge Darby Allin fan :).
@longboxcomics nice!
I wouldn’t trust Sony with anything but I definitely prefer the unused design
