But this original Green Goblin mask would be even creepier than any of those combined, so I think that's why this mask was removed altogether. The part where aunt may was in the hospital freaking out and saying “Those eyes! Those horrible yellow eyes!” Now makes a lot more sense after seeing this design of the goblin’s mask

I feel bad for the people that worked on that mask, I mean just imagine working on a mask that resembles an actor and can do facial expressions, just to get rejected and replaced with a power ranger green goblin helmet
I’d like to imagine they went to see the film in theaters with a bitter attitude, and rightfully so. The MCU, should no doubt, try to recreate this. Especially with the CGI overuse criticism and with the fact that this is probably the best design for any comic book villain in film.
The whole point of tests like this is to see how it look on screen. As you can see it's not very kid friendly at all and it probably would've given the film a 15 rating. Also if they did use this design it would've cost a huge chunk of the budget every time Goblin was going to be on screen. Are we also to believe that Norman had to apply all these prosthetics and makeup every single time he went out as the Goblin? It makes less logistical sense than the design they went with
While it would be cool, remember, Oscorp created the Goblin suit as a military weapon, they’re own Captain America. Bright green would make a perfect target, not only that but the mask likely couldn’t stop a bullet defeating the point in wearing it instead of a helmet even if said helmet is from world war 2. Overall it wouldn’t make any sense to go with this design.
Lol no offense but you must of been a wimpy kid. I've seen things that freaked me out as a kid to the point I slept with door closed. And had nightmares for days but whatever I grew up fine and was less scared of things now. Yah monsters are scary but whatever. Dark knight joker I'm sure freaked kids out to but you don't here anyone complaining about that film being bad if anything more fans are crying out make more films like that.
Would’ve been the best design for any villain in comic book movies tbh. Personally, I see all of these video essays about what makes a random villain “terrifying” and though I enjoy those performances, I won’t be dramatic and say I was scared to my bones. Just watch the movie legend that film had scary costumes in it and honestly I don't remember having nightmares from it or maybe I did but watching the film today still love it and long lasting impressions mean more then some play it safe films that I honesty watched once and never again. Even though the one they went with in theaters grew on me but you gotta admit, this mask could've made the Green Goblin character more iconic and terrifying. That mask is sick! So expressive and so menacing. Kids could have been traumatized tho back in 2001 including me.
In an alternate reality this was used, and although those kids were traumatised, they looked back as 30 year olds and are *now* like, 'you know what this movie is awesome' & love it!
When i was a kid seeing this movie i would have thought this was COOL! i always imagine film makers doing something awesome and then theres some interfering studio executive saying "oh no! the children will get scared"
All I can say is I grew up watching 90s cartoons like batman, spiderman, xmen. Gargoyles and even some anime films that where really dark. Turned out fine and those villains where all very creepy looking and not one of those shows got cancelled the entire time they played on tv. Hell Legend with tom cruise was an epic movie and that had scary horror film masks even more freaky then this. Sure it did freak me out but you know what I watched them today and still love them and wouldn't change them for the world. It honestly makes me mad that this will never happen till someone with balls goes fuck it I'm making this shit this way regardless of what the company says.

The truth is that I have to admit that the creation of this incredible green goblin mask is quite a masterpiece, being more faithful and close to the comics, but the real reason why it was never seen in the light of day was because it was shown to the public. test audience including various children to see what they think and the result as you can imagine is that many of them were terrified and even traumatized for life by this design so the team at Sony had to reduce that to avoid this and the minors if they could see the movie, decide to change the design for the one we all know today, which I really loved a lot and I saw that a new modern green goblin fits very well for the time that marked an entire generation and I hope that be like this in many decades (psd: I understand children a lot but imagine if they had seen this in the movies and had been scared like never before in their lives, also that design did not even feel like it fits well within this version from spiderman which Sam Raimi decided to discard immediately since from my point of view and sincerely I want to tell you that it looks like a mask for horror movie purposes than a superhero movie) see you in a new spiderverse we won't be late and sayonara

The plastic Green Power Ranger design they went for in the movie was garbage. They 100% should have stuck with their original vision with this comics-accurate animatronic mask design.
This is a great mask, but it wouldn't have worked in the Raimi film. It would have been better suited for something less colorful and kid-friendly. Perhaps the film Cameron was wanting to make.

There is a reason why comic book accurate designs didn’t work on a live action movie, practically that couldn’t have worked in the context of the plot (maybe if they go Ultimate Spider-Man’s Norman Osborn mutation), but I still prefer the helmet that made into the final movie

There is a reason why comic book accurate designs didn’t work on a live action movie, practically that couldn’t have worked in the context of the plot (maybe if they go Ultimate Spider-Man’s Norman Osborn mutation), but I still prefer the helmet that made into the final movie
I mean it could have worked like maybe norman in the movie is obsessed with collecting scary masks and he uses it so now one can know him and tbf the only reason this mask wasn't used is because t it's too scary for children for being a pg-13 film
