Once I wrote Loretta Lynn and drew a picture of a welcome sign it said welcome to Fist City population one black eye. She sent me a note on a postcard and said she loved the letter and picture. Loretta Lynn just passed away this morning.
Loretta is the best. Sure do 💕💕💕 and miss her every day.

Hey buddy , great reaction ! Loretta never minced words , quite a woman. Garth Brooks told the story of being asked to bring Loretta to an awards show , he asked her "limo or my pickup truck " she said pickup !! He says she climbed in and slid over in the middle , to this day he says one of his proudest moments.

She is 89, still working after 60 years, has no plans to stop and still doesn't understand the controversy...because she writes what she feels, and most of it is from her life.

This song reminds of a story from about 30 years ago. My husband and I went out one evening with another couple just to relax, dance have a little fun. The guys went to play pool. My husband waz a good pool player and a nice looking man. I heard this woman tell her friends that she was going home with my husband! My girlfriend was trying to keep me calm but I was pissed!! I went over to the juke box found this song played it walked over to my husband gave him a big hug and a kiss then turned and gave her a go to he'll stare. We didn't have anymore problem after that! My husband never realized what was going on!

Loretta Lynn is the queen of country music I know the song I like for you to listen to it was been on several radio stations and in fact to this day astilbe and believe it or not on some stations the song is called a rated x
She is going to shock you in almost every song I feel sorry for any man that she deal with Loretta seem to have had a gut full with all of them. She is not mincing her words. Good. Luck to her. Love her songs.

The school bus driver told her twins their daddy was in love with her and he was leaving their mother. And she was still mad 40 years later when she told the story.

I was very shy as a kid loved those feisty songs though I think it was cause I was so shy You Ain't woman enough and fist city were two of my favs . Lorretta loved her husband and stood by him . He was always drink though and much more gave here the idea for many songs though . You should try "your squaws on the war path tonight and do not come home a drinking with loving on your mind."

Lorretta Lynn was my Dad's favorite singer. Mostly because they had somewhat simuler backgrounds. She was from South East Kentucky,and so was my Dad. Although different counties. Loretta's Dad was a coal miner and so was Grandpa on Dads side. For a short while Dad drove a Dozer in what he called the strip mines. Dad used to mention the D9 dozer if memory serves.

Like your wifes attitude . I think Loretta put up with way to much although she came up with great songs cause of that . Hearing some of her songs you would think he would have been kicked to the curb . Who knows maybe he did get kicked out a couple of times . After a song called "your squaws on the warpath tonight ." You would have thought that happened .She at least was up in his face.
If I remember the story behind this song correctly, her kids came home from school upset. Their bus driver said their daddy was leaving to be with her. Loretta responded with this song. Most her great songs were her way of getting back at her husband.

This one was in response to a bar that she was playing at. A woman told her she could take her man and the story says Loretta got off stage punched her and then continued the show. She wrote Fist city. It should be in her movie.

it is a complex song in a way... because there's a lot of hidden meaning:
The song was targeted at a woman who drove the school bus in the town that Loretta owned. (detour round my town)
The woman was entitled to school dinners because she drove the school bus .(if you dont wanna eat a meal thats called fist city) and the bit about "use your feet" is telling her to use the pedals on the bus she drove.

Apparently the song was inspired when the school bus driver made the mistake of telling Loretta's kids their dad was going to divorce their mom to marry her. She forgot Loretta by this time owned most of the town. Didn't go very well for the woman and Loretta got a hit song.
