    You’re a good man for making this video. Her and Dolly Parton are national treasures. Made me so happy a few years back to see Loretta and Jack White collaborate together. Even the Grateful Dead covered her with Donna Jean

    One of my favorite stories about her (among so many) is when she was giving Charlie Pride an award and because he was black they told her to take two steps back and shake his hand. So, what does she do, gives him a hug. She was the female Johnny Cash and her last few albums prove that too. The end of her career was some great tunes

    Tammy Wynette : Stand By Your Man

    Thanks for doing this for "Loretty" as my grandma used to call her. When I was young I used to be embarrassed that I loved Loretta Lynn. The culture told me she was corny, but her songs were irresistible. She described a world I understood and recognized. Her sentiments were those of the poor southern women I knew. She was loud and proud, blunt and to the point, and every time I heard her sing it gave me a private thrill. Her music meant something. Her voice spoke to us females down in Dixie. Loretta was badass. Her duets with Conway Twitty are the definition of what it is to slay in music.
    I stopped being embarrassed about my love for all things Loretta when I realized that all that matters is quality; genre is irrelevant. Great art will always pierce the mediocre or guarded heart. Loretta had a huge quiver of arrows and though I worship Dolly, Loretta will always be the queen,.

    The era that Loretta Lynn comes from could’ve only existed then. The world has moved on now and even though a significant percentage of current entertainers appreciate the vintage stuff, very few are in touch with what made Loretta’s music and others from her era so enjoyable. I will say That Charley Crockett is a throwback to earlier times and he totally gets the vintage era and you can hear it in his music. R.I.P. Loretta Lynn. Thanks Michael.

    Then there’s the story of Loretta singing that song one night. Some smart ass yelled out something to the effect that Dewy had been flirting with her. Loretta took off after her, from the stage, running along table tops in the bar to attack that woman. What a rig, lol.
    And she wrote and sang progressive songs, like ‘ The Pill’, referencing the birth control pill.
    We lost a great woman.

    When I hear her I remember my Dad singing along in our car. She lived a hard life growing up, so there is a truth to her songs you don’t hear anymore. Lyrically she was fantastic all her songs are stories about life and challenges she saw or lived through. Yet with all her fame and fortune she stayed that amazing humble person from butcher holler. That life made her love and help many others that crossed her life path. I have been listening to her for two solid days. And yes she was all woman and all bad ass at the same time.

    When I was a teenager in 1978, I worked at a venue in Lexington KY called Rupp Arena. Used for basketball games, concerts, etc. Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty did a concert and they put on a fantastic show. I do believe that the entire population of Butcher Holler KY was in the audience that night. After the show, Loretta and Conway sat at a table on stage and signed autographs, took pictures and generally greeted their fans. They sat there for over 2 hours until every single person was happy with that experience. Two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

    Here’s a fun fact that we all should know Loretta Lynn was the matriarch of country music. She was the longest living grand old Opry remember with over a 60 year career, the queen of country music.

  • @maryannproffitt44
    @maryannproffitt44 Рік тому

    Mrs Loretta may have written songs about or sang about cheating however she was faithful to Dew even when he wasn’t to her and made a career singing to take care of her family., The songs wasn’t about her approaching a man’s wife, it was about her approaching a woman he was cheating with.. If you watched the movie Coal Miner’s Daighter about her life or Sweet Dreams about her friend Patsy’s (Virginia’s) life you’d know that. So I agree with being her fan however your interpretation isn’t correct.

    I can relate, brother. I am from West Virginia on the border of Kentucky, and my people come from Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and Kentucky, and I myself am the son of a Coal Miner's Daughter. And I'm here to tell you, my little 5 foot tall Cherokee / Lenape grandmother definitely was the center of our matriarchal existence, and that is one who was born at the turn of the 20th century, and not only got through the Great depression, but did it proper. She taught me more than I will ever know. I miss her deeply, I miss her stories, I miss her strength. My 6'1 grandfather would not even give her any lip lol. Never underestimate the metaphoric Iron of a small Native woman that carries an even larger metaphoric stick. Great video brother!

    Nice tribute, country music is American folk and just as with all other folk music its a way of telling stories to be passed down the generations. Listening to the music the happy go lucky and jaunty music often masks very dark and sad tales where the pain of the words is minimised by the upbeat of the music. There are many exceptions to this where minor key music accompanies sad words but the fact that the music is often written by people who have survived tough times, this resilience comes through with an often dismissive attitude along the lines of; you it left me , it hurts you left me, whatever, I'll move on. It's like the music has already moved on while the words tell you why.

    To make it in country music as a woman, you had to be willing to fight every day. She stood up and raised her fists when she needed to, and won her fight in the end. Classy to the end.
