    Does anyone else grab a notepad while watching Lisa? I feel like I'm taking a one on one master class with every video because of the detail and history she adds in each topic. I'm always scribbling down product recommendations, history facts, and application tips! Love me some Lisa E!!!

      I wanted to add: Some of my favorite favorite pinks are ones that Revlon has been producing since the early 50s-60s! Their super lustrous line is one that I'm determined to collect them all! I think I wear Primrose about twice a week! It's in that baby pink category you began with!

      The first thing I do is grab my little note pad & pen! I love her videos, I think they're just great! You get quite a bit of knowledgeable information and quite quickly at that! I never feel like I' m watching a video that just drags on! 💄💋

    I have cancer and my treatments have made my already pale complexion quite sallow. Thus, I rely quite a bit on my pinks. My favorites are generally peachy or corally. Brighter ones really wake up my face. This video was very helpful, as usual, Lisa--thank you! 🌹
    p.s. My birthday is September 11th (35th) and I want to buy your Lancome lipstick you created. It's beautiful 😍

      Kick some cancer butt with pink lipsticks! :D
      My mom had breast cancer and her skin became really shallow too and that's when I found pinks (clothing-wise, I wasn't into makeup yet) really brightened her complexion too.

      I'm curious what Lisa has to say about this as it seems as if she doesn't use transition colors like everyone else here on UA-cam does. It almost seems as if the neutral transition color for every look, no matter what, sometimes makes makeup look dated, less modern.

    Came across your videos purely by accident, Lisa. This one on the history of pink lipstick took me back to the mid fifties in England The most popular pink was Iced Pink from Woolworth’s. I have always used pink lipsticks and I’m in my 80th year!
    Great information as to how to make lips look more fuller. Now if you could help those of us who have lines on our upper lips :)

    I love how you don't necessarily say that you should match the undertones of your lipstick to the undertones of your skin. My sister is olive-toned and looks incredible in blue-based or cool lipsticks, and I tend to go neutral but look incredible in warmer or neutral shades. Your videos are very soothing to watch and you are quite articulate and fantastic at explaining yourself.

    • @karmasutra4774
      @karmasutra4774 Рік тому

      I go only for blue undertones for making the teeth whiter. I bleach mine often, but the lipstick really makes the teeth pop. Good thing I have olive tones, so it works too for that

    Hi Lisa! This comment has been on its way for a long time, like 2,5 years or so, and it is about saying thank you. Not just for the incredible inspiration, ideas and guidance in make up, but for your gentle, soothing presence in front of the camera.
    In 2012-2013 I was living in a foreign country, almost alone and not speaking the language very well. I felt socially a bit isolated, so I tried to find other things to do and to get pleasure from. There was a lot of very affordable make up and cosmetics around so I got more into that than ever before. That's when I found your videos. I tried all sorts of things and learned a lot from you and also about myself and the skin I'm living in.
    I remember being sad and alone, but watching you passionately talking about cosmetics and make up on your videos made me feel a whole lot better. Your voice is so calming and seeing your passion and professionalism was somehow deeply comforting. I especially rewatched the videos where you talked "make up therapy", because whatever the issue was, there was always something understanding and unjudgemental about you.
    Thank you for your videos, for sharing your expertise, your aesthetics and your lovely presence.
    Have a wonderful, magical summer!

    Dear Lisa, I'd love to know your opinion on animal testing, especially in the make up industry. I know from your adorable cat photos on instagram that you are a true animal lover and I am curious about your view on this topic. Lots of love from Germany xxx

    • @tuns-fk1lb
      @tuns-fk1lb 8 років тому +9

      +Angelika T. i dont think it matters to her. she uses products that test on animals on all the time and she has worked with Chanel ,Lancome and Shisedo in her career, all of whom test on animals.

    • @MartheBozart
      @MartheBozart 8 років тому +4

      +tuns 2888 I disagree with that, I think it might matter to her, I'd love to hear her opinion anyways. Using make up tested on animals doesn't mean you're not against it I think. It's become 'the proper thing' to stop using products tested on animals, (which is good) but I've not really seen anyone dig deeper: I don't feel like anyone knows how often animal testing is used/what it is used for exactly/what happens to the animals/what the alternatives are (+ are they sufficient?)/what the regulations are/what does animal testing mean: once upon a time an ingredient in this product was tested on animals -or- an ingredient in this product is being tested on animals NOW. Huge difference imo. Anyways, I'm not well informed but I don't know if anyone else on here really is? Lisa might know more, being in the business and all... So yeah, I wouldn't assume. But interesting topic!

    • @tuns-fk1lb
      @tuns-fk1lb 8 років тому +3

      MartheBozart she works at brands that test animals all the time in her videos. i'm pretty sure if she cared abut animal beyond her own pets she wouldn't do that. alternatives for testing are cell model, in vitro ,. these alternatives are often cheap than animal testing. koh gen doh, too faced, pacifca, etc don't test on animals. the alternatives to animal testing are sufficcent.

    • @SuperDesignChick
      @SuperDesignChick 8 років тому

      +MartheBozart you will be excited to that some makeup products are tested on infant foreskins! Lol. Is this a better option? Using them in face creams as well.

    • @mirjammaver8670
      @mirjammaver8670 8 років тому +8

      +tuns 2888 Hm, I don't think what you say is correct. Isn't testing on animals forbidden in EU? I think companies do not test on animals, but countries like China do test products on animals if company wants to sell their products in China - meaning, there's nothing company can do rather than stop selling completely in some markets. But China is huge market and for any company loosing that kind of market would mean huge financial problems. Whereas I am against testing on animals, I also am aware that from the company point of view this question is not a mater of "we don't test/"we do test" on animals but rather much more complicated question and can not be solved in one day. Also, I don't think "testing on animals" means only those cruel testings you can see on videos, most of the testings are not harmful, or testes have been done in the past, when this issue (unfortunately) didn't mater etc. Besides, everything needs to be tested on someone, whether this would be humans or animals. And not only cosmetics, but also drugs and the latter tends to be much harmful. You do need to be aware that full stopping testing on animals would mean no new and successful new drugs or medical treatments that can help millions of people.
      And there's another thing, which I'm not sure how it works. Let me explain: those companies that claim that do not test on animals, at the same time use SAME INGREDIENTS as those companies that DO test on animals - the only difference is that big companies are the ones with huge development teams and invest a lot of money into researches and patents. Small companies than buy/use those patented ingredients. The point is, small companies can claim they "don't test on animals", because they just use ingredients that are already tested on animals by other companies - this way some companies are "good" ones and other companies take all the blame, which is totally unfair. If this is truly the case, I would say that "good" companies are far more "bad guys" that those who do test on animals but at least do not claim they don't.
      It would be really great if someone who do know how this works explain to the rest of us.

    I like how Lisa describes the intense pink lipsticks as a "strong" look. A lot of other people that do beauty videos on UA-cam can be rather rude about beauty items or looks that aren't a part of their taste. The best simile I can think of is that Lisa is an art critic that can appreciate all kinds of art, and everyone else is the everyday person that doesn't have as much knowledge about art and therefore cannot appreciate certain styles and tastes that don't suit their own.

    That lipstick you helped design is GORGEOUS.
    I love pinks but I have a hard time with them because my skin is so fair and blue-green, it almost looks dead, and instead of bringing my face to life the pinks just bring out the death in my skin and make my lips look out of place. super cool/dusty rose nudes are like the only colors I feel comfortable wearing out anymore.

    So interesting to hear the trends through the decades. In the 90s I was obsessed by 'cyclamen pinks' and never really wore the brown trend. Now I know why! My favourite was a now discontinued bright purplish pink lipstick by Shiseido called Electric (something) - still have a tiny bit of it depotted for posterity! My other 90s go-to was Clinique's Raspberry Glacé.

I'm at this point of my life right now when I categorize makeup whether it makes me look younger or old and pinks are my ally. Been avoiding pinks almost all my life but I find it's amazing how it brightens my face. I'm so done with Kylie's 90's vibe lipsticks, she's 18 trying to look 28, so it definitely works for her but to me it only adds up to my age.

    Thanks for the tips, Lisa! I have used L'Oréal's Doutzen's Nude for about a year now and I find that it's one of my favorite go-to's! The color is light and can easily work for a night or daytime look!

    Perfect timing! Spring has taken its time coming to us here in NYC, but now that warmer weather is right around the corner, I'm ready to rock a pink lip! I played around at Sephora for hours the other day, and my lips were similarly stained. Now I've got some new options to try....I love that you use drugstore products. Has really made me rethink my whole approach!

    I loved you in the OCC Lip Tar!! It was a very helpful, and interesting video. I am 62, and wore the frosted white lipsticks, when I was 16 years old. And yes, we had to have a dark tan, to make it pop, lol. Enjoyed very much. Blessings, and joy...MaryEllen

    Ohhhh, I loved this sooooo much! It was mesmerizing! Been in love with pale pink lipsticks since _Transvision Vamp_ was on TV when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, that super pale pink always made my teeth look yellow (no teeth whiteners in the 80s), and like it was pink zink, not lipstick. This video gives me the courage to venture back into pale pinks (not 80s-pale, though).

    Gorgeous Lisa as always ! While everyone talks about the warm toned/cool toned rule, I love that you explain how you can wear any tone of lip color, and look good. I love Urban Decay Menace on my warm toned olive skin, other favorites are Louboutin Matte Bengali and Kevyn Aucoin Forever (which is warmer) ! LOVE ! XO

    Love your channel so much, Lisa. I know this would mean more editing work... but I it would be great if sometimes when talking about the history of a product adding a pop up photo as an example of the style of the time would be so great. Thanks so much for making these videos. You are so talented!

    Yesterday I wore the first time in ages an hot pink lipstick and I'm someone who doesn't feel so comfortable with pink lipsticks. I rather prefer red ones. But I actually liked the pink lipstick and even got a compliment! Thank you for the guide, what a coincidence 😊

    Thank you so much honestly! And here I was wondering why some pinks look so weird and uncomfortable on me(main reason why I'm wary of pinks!) and some blend in with my skin and look nice. Sounds so easy but honestly I didn't understand why until you explained it. Thanks Lisa!!
