You are the most credible person on YT when it comes to makeup. Everything you say has so much logic and thought behind it and the way you describe everything is so eloquent, unlike YT "gurus". Also, please don't take this offensively but you have the most soothing Voice ever... I use your videos to help calm my overthinking brain before bed... It helps me sleep! Lots of love from one of your long time supporters x
I agree! Lisa, you are my favorite makeup artist by leaps and bounds! You are so knowledgable and approachable. When I watch your videos, I feel that you are speaking to me instead of at me, if that makes sense. Your professional reputation speaks for itself. 💄💋
I was just writing to say the same thing! I look forward to her videos so much, and I am so thankful they are ad-free. Sometimes when I am watching other beauty videos, I often think, "What would Lisa say about this look?" And then I come to the conclusion that Lisa would not approve. ;)
I saw you mentioned that her voice soothes you. Have you heard of ASMR videos here on YT? It's a big community of people who post all different kinds of videos that can be soothing.. It's really interesting.
this is PURE INFORMATION. people should pay for this. we are so lucky to have this for free. THANK YOU LISA! never found a video so useful...noone did it
I just figured out what nude lipstick looks good on me recently and it took me 20 yrs to figure out ... and it's a work in progress. This is such great information! And I've never seen another video like this that goes so in depth into nude lipstick and how it works with different skin tone. Thank you Lisa for sharing your info and talent with us.
She mentioned using a lip liner to define the edges.. another good "cheat" if you have a color that is too light but still want to get some use out of it is to choose a darker liner, fill the entire lip, and then top it with the nude. You can also pretty easily change the tone of a neutral nude to pull it either warm or cool to fit the look you are wearing without having to buy additional lipsticks.
+Andy T I think the perception of such subtle differences makes the difference between style and ultra style.. I think Lisa's brain sees more colors than my brain does
You are a true MUA. The information you give is priceless. Young girls need to realize when they are watching all those UA-cam gurus, they are just watching how that person applies their makeup. Anyway, thank you for this video. Helped so much.
You are the only makeup artist/guru on youtube whose videos I dont skip through. Everytime I watch you I feel like I'm in the presence of make up greatness.
At last, thorough explanation of a topic that is quite confusing for some of us with little knowledge of makeup. Over the years I have been watching Lisa, I've grown more confident of putting makeup on. Especially after learning techniques about foundation and how to apply them. I even got a compliment from a colleague about my skin, looking very healthy. LOL! In my head I said, it's 'the Eldridge technique'.
Lisa you're the best. Always classy, no irritating music added, just love listening to your voice. Many girls on UA-cam are too obsessed with themselves, acting crazy, silly ott looks, but Lisa is stylish, a natural beauty. A pleasure to look at and listen to.
I've been trying to find my perfect nude color for years now and I still don't feel like I've found it! Thank you for addressing this topic! You've inspired me to keep looking! Gosh it would be a dream come true to just spend a day makeup shopping with you. I feel like an hour with you would solve all the mysteries of makeup we go through in a lifetime!
Thank you so much for pointing out the difference between a "nude" lipstick and a "natural/my lips but better" lipstick. People often conflate the two and it makes finding the right nude shade even more confusing!
The BEST nude lipstick video on UA-cam hands down. Lisa, you're incredibly skilled and knowledgeable! I've found it much easier to find nude lipsticks for myself using your tips.
I know she said that the Tom Ford lipstick was a right shade of nude for her, but I felt light it washed her out because it was more Beige toned. I personally like Peachy and dull pinky nude lipsticks more.
Shayri Garg I agree with you. but what we see through the camera is not what Lisa sees in real life. This makes picking your shade with a help of youtube tutorials very hard:(
That’s so funny because I thought the Tom Ford one was the best one she tried on. It’s my favorite Tom Ford color though, and sadly it’s been discontinued. 😭
Hi Lisa! Just wanted to say that this video was very informational for me! I've always thought nudes were pretty boring, especially for my skin tone.. I'd look like a dead person. But this video really changed my perspective - sort of like knowing how to choose the perfect red lip, except this was a notch higher than that! So here's a big thank you! x
You have a therapeutic aura about you... I liken you to Nigella Lawson, in the way you describe things and pull me in right from the word go.... such a talented young woman!!! Carry on with the good work 😘
I disagree with the accents.. Lisa has a loveable aura, she comes across very gentle, and down to earth.. She's very feminine, just like Nigella, when they speak, it's like their speaking, right to your heart.. Angelic type of people.. Tis my opinion anyway 👍😀
I absoluteoly love this video! I personally love a good nude lip, and I've always been more for the "your lips but better" type of nude, rather than the "I've put a light concealer all over my lips" look. One could say that's obvious, but I swear I've seen so many tanned girls with invisible lip lines because they honestly just go over their lips with the foundation they use for the rest of their face, so the shape of their lips pretty much disappears. Or when they go much, much lighter than their skin tone and their lips look almost like a reflector... it's always a plus in my book when one can tell that a person actually has a lip shape ;) One thing I love about youtube, and brilliant MUAs like yourself sharing your knowledge, is that I see less of those horrible nude lips nowadays and I think that might have something to do with videos like this X
Each and every video of her is magnificent. She is the queen of makeup history, present, future and we are indeed lucky of her vast knowledge and talent!
This is so helpful! Will definitely check out the blogpost. What frustrates me most about nudes is seeing a nude look beautiful on someone, buying it and it looking absolutely pants on me!
I love that even though I'm watching this 8 years after it was filmed, Lisa's tips are timeless. Thank you always for sharing your perspective and experience with us!
With regards to finding our own nudes I find the pigmentation of ones lips can make our hearts sing or be a crushing disapointment when we find "that gorgeous nude"! Its the quest that will never end!! Thanks Lisa, as always your videos are very much appreciated.
+SevenDaysofStyle yes there are so many factors (skintone, hair colour, natural lip shade etc) which is why you need to try them on for yourself. Seeing something look good on a friend with similar-ish colouring doesnt mean it will necessarily work as well on you X
I have a NYX nude lipstick that is beautiful, but I look like I am dead and have concealer on my lips. It's awful, but it's such a lovely color! Not for my latin skin though. Thank you for the video!
Wow, this video, like the one on red lipsticks, is the BEST nude lipsticks tutorial. It is so comprehensive and I am so appreciative of how you have shared about choosing the right tone of various shades of nude. Thank you so much!!
I love that your blog post includes darker skin tones! I'm super pale so every white beauty youtubers suggestions work for me, but I know so much here is geared to pale/white skin and it's great to see you suggest for a lot of darker tones!
Lisa, I have always struggled finding the right nude shade for me and as usual, your explanation was so incredibly helpful and on top of it, the whole look was just so polished and flawless. Thanks so much Lisa xoxoxo
It's easy to correct wrong nude shade of lipstick. Had one of those horribly yellow/orange ones and didn't want to toss it because it was Lancome. Went over that with pink lightly and voilá; a perfect shade! It's all about mixing and matching and combining.
I think I would end up spending even more $. I would buy just about anything she would recommend. All she would have to do is say "this one would be nice for you." You are right though, it would be an amazing experience. On top of being an author, a makeup artist and being the creative director for Lancome, I think she would be the most amazing beauty consultant.
Hello Lisa. It's so amazing the level of knowledge in this domain of Makeup. I am astonished about your skills to see and control the scenes behind the simple appearance. Thank you for sharing this high level of teachings about understanding makeup, colors, patterns, characters and possibility of transformation. I am so grateful, about the fact that you decided to share your knowledge with the world. Last but not least, I'm enjoying watching your explanation and presentations, because it is so clean and accurate. I hope someday in life maybe I will have the chance to meet you, or just watching you working in person from behind, because you are so inspiring. I wish you all the best Lisa!
I love Lisa's videos, they are so informative and honest!!! Even tho she's so good playing with color and makeup, yet still she keep the makeup looking very natural and wearable for all of us normal/basic look girls out there. Her videos are so different from all the gurus out there
Oh, Lisa. You are marvelous. You're so knowledgeable and I could listen to you talk all day. I've had a miserable couple of days and you've really perked me up Thank you. xx
+Lisa Eldridge oh yes please do! I really love it - so natural but with an impact. I found this video fascinating, btw, as I am a lover of all things nude lipstick, and have such a fun/stressful time shopping for them, lol. Shades that swatch so beautifully on my hand or that look so perfect on others' lips, make me look dead or diseased! It can be quite a challenge to find your perfect peachy, pink, or neutral/brown nude. fwiw the final peach nude option you showed was my favorite.
Lisa, you're simply amazing! I'm a make up artist and I learn so so much from you, I think about you whilst dolling up my clients and send you lots of positive vibes and blessings.. x
This is an excellent primer on choosing a nude lip color. You are so right about choosing one that suits your skin tone. My 18 year old daughter and I both have very fair skin but cannot wear the same colors. Her skin is paler and more neutral to warm, while mine is definitely more pink and cool. Her colors look really off on me as mine do on her.
Hi, Lisa! Would love some recommendations for darker skin, MAC NW35 or NARS Syracuse in particular. Thanks for so generously sharing your expertise! xxx
Dear Lisa, it's like you were reading my mind :). I am in search of a perfect nude lipstick for myself for the last couple of months, so your video and blog post are extremely helpful (as always)! Thank you for your advice, I am sure I will find my perfect nude really soon :). Love, Tulipan
Lisa, You are a true lady. I' ve learned soooo much from you these past few years. Even people around me always ask who does my make up, since I started using and practicing your advices. Very often, I find myself hearing your voice guiding me while I put on my make up. :-)
Huge thumbs up! You explain how to select colors so well. My coloring is very similar to yours, with just a bit more pink/blue undertone. Now I understand what I have intuitively learned in 55+ years of makeup. This will help eliminate at least some of my purchasing errors. Thank you for sharing your amazing expertise.
Love how informative your videos are! Do you have any tips on understanding your skin undertones? I know all the "theory" but I have trouble understanding my undertones..
+kat ch I talk a lot about undertones in my 'find the right shade of foundation video' here - www.lisaeldridge.com/video/25670/how-to-find-the-right-shade-of-foundation/#.VfG9odNViko X
+Anastasia Dutova Make sure to match your neck rather than your face! I know it sounds silly, but even if you don't fake tan, most of us wear makeup/moisturisers/sunscreen on our face so it is always slightly lighter. I find I am a bit the same with my skin, you're probably neutral. I've yet to find my 'holy grail' foundation yet, cos most aren't pale enough, but most high end brands will give you samples if you ask!! I find this is the best way, since the colour often changes when you put it on your skin over time, especially if you're layering a coloured powder etc. Good luck :) xo
Waw!! That new hair colour looks stunning on you, suits you beautifully! Much grateful for these precious tips. You always give your best and make your viewers feel like VIB (Platinum). In the world of Beauty/Make-up you're "my czarina". 💄👑💐✨
+kat ch I think basically "cruelty free" means the company doesn't do animal testing, but they still might use some product that comes from animals, as opposed to completely vegan, which wouldn't use anything that comes from an animal.
i have seen so many make up tutorial videos.. but i find your's the best coz your looks are pretty wearable natural and not too dramatic yet beautiful! and to top that up you are sooo pretty as well..
I've nailed my lude lip thanks to you Lisa! I bought a Revlon one and it was quite a challenge because where I'm from there are rarely testers for Revlon. They are sold closed. Thanks to your advice I didn't waste my money. Thanks a lot!!!
I recently bought a couple of nude lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury but sadly both (Hepburn honey and bitch perfect) looked horrible on my face. Although I have heard so much positive about them they were just not my colours. Im a bit like your tone, a bit red with yellow under tone (probably yellower than yours as Im a pale asian) and the lipsticks you've mentioned sound so interesting. I guess the best way to get a perfect nude lipstick is to test them out at the counter. This video helped me a lot though. i watch lots of makeup vids but certainly your videos are my favourite of all, Lisa. :)
+Sienna H-H yes the only way to truly tell is to put them on your lips (with the rest of your face made up in your usual way). Sorry you didnt have much luck so far but good luck in your search X
+meldan526 lancome is owned by Loreal. Loreal also owns yves saint laurent, giorgio armani, urban decay, kiehl's, garnier, maybelline, nyx cosmetics, essie, redken, the body shop....the list goes on and on
Hi! Can you recommend a good nude lip for someone who is tanned/olive/middle eastern?? I have yet to find a color that doesn't make me look washed out or isn't straight up brown or pink. Thanks!
Yes Anna Sui 701 i have this exact colouring and tried almost every brand you can get the Anna Sui 701 is the BEST a true honey nude and it actually makes u look better whereas most are so unflattering and 'off'
Wow this is by far the best video when it comes to nude lipstick..ive waited for this in like forever..I can say you are really such a pro ms.lisa..you are the best person to trust when it comes to makeup:)
It doesn't put you to sleep, yet it is relaxing and memorable. I can remember most things she says because her voice is perfect for learning from. If she was a teacher she would be so good... I would score straight A's because i wd actually be paying attention.
Yes she's very easy to listen to.. Her voice is gentle, yet full of punch, so to speak.. Lisa has a magnetic aura about her. Her femininity is alluring... No, I'm not into females 😂, just passing on my thoughts of Lisa 😀
Your videos about nude, red and pink lipstick were my starting point for learning about undertones and color systems. I only knew I had a Warm undertone, but couldn't understand why blue-red looked better than orange-red; also I can't really pull off a neutral nude lip. Recently I learned about the Color Seasons and the Olive undertone and suddenly it all made sense for me. You certainly spiked the curiosity and desire to know and understand myself.
Lisa, the No7 nude is my holy grail of nude lipliners!! I have a graveyard of nude lipsticks and liners and it took me a while to spot one. Now I pray that this shade don't get discontinued. Thank you ever so much for imparting your makeup wisdom
+F San Jose Oh thanks! That lipliner was developed by me when I was creative director there - I sort of designed it for myself lol - I still love it too X
You are the most credible person on YT when it comes to makeup. Everything you say has so much logic and thought behind it and the way you describe everything is so eloquent, unlike YT "gurus". +waymire01 Good tip! X
@@LisaEldridge Bobbi Brown says to get the right nude for you, go a shade or two darker than the natural shade of your lips.
Lisa: This color will look wrong on me
Me: SHE STILL LOOKS FABULOUS!
+Andy T LOL That's what I thought :)
+Andy T Was thinking the same thing! lol
+Andy T I think the perception of such subtle differences makes the difference between style and ultra style.. I think Lisa's brain sees more colors than my brain does
Lohengrin O Yea, I definitely notice the subtle differences. It's there! But very very subtle. :)
You are a true MUA. The information you give is priceless. Young girls need to realize when they are watching all those UA-cam gurus, they are just watching how that person applies their makeup. Anyway, thank you for this video. Helped so much.
Lisa is the queen. I'm just so grateful that she does youtube videos!
+Jessica Pace Thanks Jessica and youre welcome, glad you like them X
+Lisa Eldridge are you turkishgerman? you look awsome
You are the only makeup artist/guru on youtube whose videos I dont skip through. Everytime I watch you I feel like I'm in the presence of make up greatness.
I love how she says nude. it's like "NEEUWD "
I don't even know how else she could say it, lol :D
That's just how we say it over here.
We don't say "nood". :D
Sophie Broadbent LOLOL
At last, thorough explanation of a topic that is quite confusing for some of us with little knowledge of makeup.
Over the years I have been watching Lisa, I've grown more confident of putting makeup on. Especially after learning techniques about foundation and how to apply them. I even got a compliment from a colleague about my skin, looking very healthy. LOL! In my head I said, it's 'the Eldridge technique'.
+Nette Y Thats so lovely to hear x
Lisa you're the best. Always classy, no irritating music added, just love listening to your voice. Many girls on UA-cam are too obsessed with themselves, acting crazy, silly ott looks, but Lisa is stylish, a natural beauty. A pleasure to look at and listen to.
You actually looked the best with the peachy nude compared to all the others.

You're right. It might be the camera and lighting. I've never seen that shade in real life so I can't tell if it looks just like that or not.

Shayri Garg the light perhaps
I feel WISE after watching this. This is knowledgable! Wow. Thanks a bunch, Lisa. Lots of love
Hi Lisa! Just wanted to say that this video was very informational for me!
I've always thought nudes were pretty boring, especially for my skin tone.. I'd look like a dead person. But this video really changed my perspective - sort of like knowing how to choose the perfect red lip, except this was a notch higher than that!

Beautiful beauty as per usual! But Lisa your hair today are stealing the show!! Amazing color job!! Love it!! Please do a video on it!!!
I love that her videos have no music or noise. just simple, minimalistic, clean
you are fantastic! the beauty QUEEN!
It’s crazy how subtle differences in n the colour make such a huge difference on the lip . I need Lisa to find the perfect nude lip for me
If you reach out to my team via DM on socials they'd love to help! ❤ xx
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the orangey rimmel one that she called "horrific" wasn't even bad ?
Sabrina P. She looked kind of dead
it was pretty bad
Liked it actually
i feel you. in fact with the right hack that you can find on youtube i think anyone can rock any nude lipstick she wants.
Sabrina P. Yes it wasn’t that bad

Lisa, You are a true lady. I' ve learned soooo much from you these past few years. Even people around me always ask who does my make up, since I started using and practicing your advices. Very often, I find myself hearing your voice guiding me while I put on my make up. :-)
11:00 Horrific! hmm No! ahahahaha this woman is a Goddess!!!
Yes, I thought it looked good on her as well!
I think it was beautiful
Huge thumbs up! You explain how to select colors so well. My coloring is very similar to yours, with just a bit more pink/blue undertone. Now I understand what I have intuitively learned in 55+ years of makeup. This will help eliminate at least some of my purchasing errors.
Thank you for sharing your amazing expertise.
Love how informative your videos are! Do you have any tips on understanding your skin undertones? I know all the "theory" but I have trouble understanding my undertones..
+kat ch I have the same problem! A video explaining that would be great :)
My favourite MLBB pinky nude is MAC Patisserie :) It is so pretty and I always get compliments on my lip colour.
Did you ever ask keira knightley do come and do a video . That would be awesome!
Waw!! That new hair colour looks stunning on you, suits you beautifully! Much grateful for these precious tips. You always give your best and make your viewers feel like VIB (Platinum). In the world of Beauty/Make-up you're "my czarina". 💄👑💐✨
that tom ford one looked hideous on you and the burbery one was the best
In a youtube world full of "makeup artists" (cough, cough) we need more Lisa's. Classy, eloquent, graceful, stunning. Xo
Can you suggest a good nude for redheads with freckles
Wow...I didn't know there are so many nude colours available! It is so informative! Great video as usual!
Interesting ! could you do a vegan and cruelty free make up look?
+Meryame Kefal She has done a video using all oraganic makeup brands.
kat ch I know it was 4 years ago so maybe a new one would be great :D
***** What is the difference between vegan and cruelty free? I am only aware of organic makeup to be honest. :/
***** i subscribed to u :D
+kat ch I think basically "cruelty free" means the company doesn't do animal testing, but they still might use some product that comes from animals, as opposed to completely vegan, which wouldn't use anything that comes from an animal.
i have seen so many make up tutorial videos.. but i find your's the best coz your looks are pretty wearable natural and not too dramatic yet beautiful! and to top that up you are sooo pretty as well..
I actually thought the "too brown" nude lipsticks still looked nice--not "horrific" at all. xD;
I've nailed my lude lip thanks to you Lisa!
I bought a Revlon one and it was quite a challenge because where I'm from there are rarely testers for Revlon. They are sold closed.
Thanks to your advice I didn't waste my money. Thanks a lot!!!
I must be colorblind, then, because I thought the "too dark" and "too light" shades still looked very nice.
that last color is just beautiful!
A reason to buy new lipstick!! ^_^
So good of you to give us this, it's very difficult to find a good nude tone and I thought was just me! As always yours is the best tutorial.
+Lisa Eldridge
Lisa, would love to see a pampering routine with good skin products :)
The peachy nude is my favourite one. It looks so good on you!
Congrats on your new position at Loreal!
I think she works for Lancôme
+meldan526 lancome is owned by Loreal. Loreal also owns yves saint laurent, giorgio armani, urban decay, kiehl's, garnier, maybelline, nyx cosmetics, essie, redken, the body shop....the list goes on and on
I'm really learning a lot from this video. I love how detailed you explain every single product u use! Bravo!
Great video Lisa :)
+Misseffortlesslychic Thank you X
I love how clear you are, so prepared! Thank you Xxx
Hi! Can you recommend a good nude lip for someone who is tanned/olive/middle eastern?? I have yet to find a color that doesn't make me look washed out or isn't straight up brown or pink. Thanks!
+IraBronnson check out the nude lips blog post on my website lisaeldridge.com - I put lots of suggestions for different skin tones X
+Lisa Eldridge thanks, great post!
+IraBronnson Hi Ira, My middle eastern friends love this combination of nude lipsticks: ninaglamblog.wordpress.com/2016/01/27/the-perfect-nude-lips/
Teddy bear mac
Yes Anna Sui 701 i have this exact colouring and tried almost every brand you can get the Anna Sui 701 is the BEST a true honey nude and it actually makes u look better whereas most are so unflattering and 'off'
Wow this is by far the best video when it comes to nude lipstick..ive waited for this in like forever..I can say you are really such a pro ms.lisa..you are the best person to trust when it comes to makeup:)
Is it just me or does Lisa have a really, really sexy voice?
She does!
It doesn't put you to sleep, yet it is relaxing and memorable. I can remember most things she says because her voice is perfect for learning from. If she was a teacher she would be so good... I would score straight A's because i wd actually be paying attention.
She is so intelligent and artistic, a true artist in every sense, very inspiring
You certainly spiked the curiosity and desire to know and understand myself.
i wpould love if you could make a remake of this video with actual real examples of girls with different skin tones
"Horrific. Mm...No."
That made me laugh so hard.
This is by far the best 'nude lipstick ' video I have ever seen, absolutely helpful, new subscriber!, thank you for this!
