@@rsr-warrior what are you on about? Kylotonn is not owned by EA, so the stages had to be rebuilt for this game. And as far as I know WRC Generations had real pieces together with fictional stages, so it was not a 1:1 recreation of the tracks.
Wicked this will use UE5, and I hope EA did not tinker too much with Codies! But is it me, or does this look horribly hard edged and polygonal like from 5 years ago? No real atmosphere in the air, everything too perfect.... I do love DIRT and Codies but sadly the last few WRC games by Kylotonn had much more dynamic and realistic looking tracks. No two turns felt like the same polygons/shaders, etc.... yet Codies still have this sort of game look, like too much is reused. I would rather have 15km tracks with less repetition than 30km with the same old graphics over and over. Hope there are MODs when this comes to PC to make it a bit more realistic looking. It does look wicked though and I look forward to hopefully some SIM physics, don't get me wrong, just looks a bit "video gamey" still.
I'm totally looking forward to it and preordered already, but the graphics clearly could be better. I don't think that is UE5, hence they ALWAYS speak of "Unreal Engine", they never mention the "5"
Tracks were great towards the end of " WRC " because they are all made in one piece with variations to the turns a lot more unique. You can see in this trailer " Codemasters " are using re - cycled bits of track. They need to put more effort as it makes the games boring ..
VR has been a literal game changer for Gran Turismo. Without question the most enjoyable gaming experience of my life. I REALLY hope this functionality is available either at launch or on the short term horizon.
Doubt it that they could pull it out from Unreal Engine at this scale. Dirt was using their Ego engine and supported PSVR but I would not keep my hopes up for this one. If it does get it though - I'm buying it..
VR has been a game changer for all racing games, GT being the latest of them. GT didn't invent anything.. But yeah I agree, my rig is VR only and I'm anxious about UE because VR performance usually isn't that good compared to other engines (cf. ACC)
" Steam VR " support in unreal is basically enabling that plugin. Thankfully it's not their previous engine which had bad frame stuttering in vr. The implementation is easy and the optimisation for stereo rendering much harder ..
I hope they bring back clubs like in Dirt 2.0 and have a dedicated app to track times. The tracks the car list and the soon-to-be released gameplay has me excited
Clubs needed improvement too in DR 2.0. It wasnt usable for me because you could only drive one location. In custom championship I can do 1 stage finland, next stage australia etc, instead of e.g. australia only I need this function in WRC too
I’m kinda worried about the handling system because on the tarmac from the gameplay it looks to be way too grippy and Arcady. Same with the dirt and gravel I just hope that this was just me and it does not feel like a simcade once it comes out.
The tarmac looks very weird (AGAIN, like in DiRT), it looks like the car is on ice at times or looks very grippy...same with the weird gravel...this trailer made me even more sceptical
@@roastedrat7113 Codemasters are not good at making complete sims like Assetto Corse Competizione, they make somewhat good arcadesims (i.e F1, DiRT etc.)
@@interpl6089 yes but i really enjoyed the way that they took dirt rally 2.0, i just wish that they could figure out the tarmac but we will see on launch.
I hope to god the textures are not final.. Many of them look like something made for a 5+ year old game. Like honestly, i would be embarrased to show this if it was me..
yeah, everthing looks quite low poly, the textures are not great either. but i think the thing hurting it the most is the lighting/ shadows/ ambient occlusion/ fog etc. plus there is not enough dust, mud etc
4:50 - Am I the only one who would love to have a 'according to each real car' transmission mode?! I think DiRT Rally 1 had this, makes the simulation much more immersive for those who care.
Are you writing about Kyloton or Milestone? Sure, I don't deny that Codie's does not duplicate what was in the first dirt rally, but look at the productions of Milestone or Kyloton @CBadger
Looks awesome! Hoping for Scotland and Wales stages to appear at some point, the idea of those stages in winter conditions excites me! Full Lombard RAC spec.
600km of unique road is stunning work, if they're anything like as good as the DR2 stages. Can't wait to get my hands on it in 40 days, looking forward to finding out more about the modes/career and hoping we can use all this content in interesting ways, especially the seasonal effects and hopefully randomised calendars each season. I was originally disappointed that you would have to only use WRC locations, but to include extra tarmac rallies like Corsica and Catalunya is epic, thanks so much for this.
The DR2 stages are terrible to today's standards, they're so flat and soulless. I hope they inspired themselves on the previous WRC game stages instead.
There is something about UE that doesn't stand for current standards, and it is the interactive deformation car/environment. Looks like a 2000's game in this regard. For a rally game it is very important IMO.
Well " unreal " does have a proper 4 - wheel car simulation model put of the box. That would be better than the 1 - axis " codemasters " approach. Shame we don't get that improvement ..
UE can do these things, but it is up to the developers to implement them. As it stands, they prefer gameplay over graphics because the visuals look a bit dated. But gameplay is the most important thing in sims.
I know it might have been a niche feature / gamemode but I really hope they implement some sort of co-driver mode like we had in wrc 10 and generations.
In my opinion, this is bullshit that hardly anyone is interested in, I just want to get good rallies, the rest of the bullshit doesn't interest me at all.
Obviously goes without saying I'll still wait for reviews to see how this actually stacks up, especially on PC given the number of disastrous launches this year, but... My expectations were literally Dirt Rally 2.0 with an Unreal lick of paint and a few extras maybe - this has kind of blown my expectations out the water immediately! If it all runs and handles great, this looks amazing.
the unreal lick of paint makes the graphics slightly worse though? unless you mean the longer stages, which is all unreal really offered, and with the effort they went to starting almost from scratch on a new engine its possible they could have modified the old engine to use longer stages. rewatch this trailer, and some of the dirt rally 2.0 trailers or gameplay videos. you will see a difference. not that a slight downgrade in graphics matters i suppose.
is it just me or did they lower the graphics in every aspect? The shadows sometimes look off, the ambient occlusion isn't really good, the shading is meh... Dirt Rally 2.0 looked way better so far
Why? That makes it harder for people like me to enjoy the game. If I want a simulation, I would buy a simulator. This is a game remember so making it accessible to all so all can enjoy would make for a better game.
this graphic details are missing in previous WRC game (some of them already implemented in dirt rally series): - realistic replay camera angle - natural racing line textures caused by tire track from previous run, mostly in winding corner part of the stage the track texture can't be symmetrical following the curve shape - in heavier terrain, dirt rut displacement can be formed from intense wheel spin on racing line ua-cam.com/video/_Sudb6Z97O8/v-deo.htmlsi=pHIySLR-htBepP91&t=123 (not just normal map) - more wheel suspension animation in rough rocky stage, that makes high suspension setup appear more reasonable - in uncompacted gravel stage, track collision positioned little bit below track model, so in replay camera angle, the wheel seems like dig in into the ground - tire deformation - terrain deformation - soft dust particle far back of passing car - pebble/rock particle collision - shape of thrown sand/snow particle from front tire (like in dakar game) - dust and water particle turbulence at back of the car - reflection and glossiness of wet track not always the same at all part of the track even icy track have dull part - small water puddle cause small splash
Terrain and track tracks are not gonna be implemented anytime soon. The tracks are too big to save in memory by themselves, if you add the tire tracks it's not gonna be feasible. It is not possible with this hardware and this engine anytime soon
@@skyhunter996 Well one of the reasons it looks rough is I think they've paired consoles with 4k-8k resolution which it doesn't sell it well. As for the hardware 3xxx and 4xxx series Nvidia Gpu with DLSS can handle as with any PC with reasonably fast 16GB DDR4/5.
@@JezaGooner that what he proposes might be feasible on smaller tracks ex 2-3kms, on bigger rally tracks I don't see that happening. I don't know about anyone else but that looks really flat and generic. Like alot of UE5 titles, they all kind of look the same, they have this really flat basic look about them. It looks like a something a small group of people put together using the most basic quick and ready tools within UE5.
Graphics is so bad it looks like a game from 10 years ago, embarrassing compared to DR 2.0, interface and hud is ugly but hey it’s a wrc title so let’s stick to their horrible look
I noticed there was no transmission option to automatically select between manual sequential and manual h-pattern. This feature was fantastic in Dirt Rally 2 and I'm extremely disappointed to see it missing.
@@wrexrally5084 No it's not. There are options for manual sequential and for manual h-pattern but there isn't an option for both where the game automatically selects the correct one based on the car. Dirt Rally 1 and 2 both had this option.
Small gripes I had with DR2 that I hope they fix/add: 1. Explanations for each ffb slider/setting. 2. Full adjustment for the cockpit camera. 3. Player control at the start of each stage. Let me roll up to the marshall on my own. 4. Let me map ALL of the buttons. Why the hell are some locked? Oh and the game looks promising. Looking forward to the next reveal video.
compared to dirt rally 2 this footage shows: 1. worse graphics - cars dont fit in the scene, they have different lighting than the rest of the scene and seem to float a bit above the actual ground surface - ugly 2. the driving seems kinda floaty on footage they shown
All valid points. My personal biggest issue is with the basic physics. DR2 is ok as a game, but I want more realism. For example, it feels like the cars accelerate with the POWER curve of the engines, as opposed to the TORQUE curve. In a real car, if you STAY IN THE SAME GEAR and do an acceleration pull from low to high speed it will pull the hardest when the engine is at its peak torque, not peak power. In DR2 it feels like you get more acceleration all the way up to peak power, and that is simply wrong. (The reason you want to keep the engine at peak power when racing is because of different gearing. A lower gear will give you more acceleration, so even if the engine puts out less torque at a higher rpm the gearing will compensate for that.)
@cookie6443 not at all, first off, he's won this year already in a car WELL off the pace most of the time, there's no room at Toyota so after Hyundai didn't work he wasn't going back. It's such a basic take to say "guy can't win for his life anyone" in a fucking Msport
He is actually a really good rally driver. A lot of people in Estonia support him even tho he has made some bad decisions like leaving Toyota after his first championship victory.
Finally a rally game with a decent amount of content out of the box. Rally games have all had the same problem in recent years with 0 replayability, but with the amount of stages and different seasons this actually looks promising.
@@littletweeter1327I hope this time its all unique stages. DR 2.0 already had just short stages and then it were even not unique stages and just areas of 2 slightly longer ones :/
0 replayability because it's own preference. All rally game have plenty of replayability if you do career or others stuff. Then, there's multiplayer ranking...

yeah cool, but CAN YOU properly fly out of a track with no interruptions and get back YOURSELF by DRIVING out of the swamp you just ended up in, or will you quickly fade-out fade-in back on track like all of you developers have been doing for the past 20 years? DO THE spectators interact with you, by getting out of the way if you happen to lose control OR you simply fade-out fade-in back on track, receive a vague penalty, like all of you developers have been doing for the past 20 years??? If none of this has been considered, your special audio recording tools and 30km stages can go and take a walk. In that case, you don't care about authenticity...
The only thing i didn't really like about Dirt Rally 2.0 was the asphalt physics, good enough for monaco, australia and poland but spain feels like it's just gravel but with a grip multiplier. I hope the new game has better physics when on proper roads.

Having Group B era but without a mob of spectators just inches away from your car is kind of lame. Only give you half of the experience. Don't you think?
This looks really good. Moment VR is added it’s an instant purchase on PC (VR Dirt Rally 2.0 is one of my absolute favorite gaming experiences). Long stages, all four seasons, and modern WRC1 cars really kick so much ass. This will be amazing.
Half a year later, still no VR (natively anyway) lmfao. Came back to the video and all the release hype posts by EA to make sure the posts still included details on VR and that they didn't rewrite them and backtrack to exclude VR functionality lol
Love seeing all the 90s and 00s cars in the menu. That's my favorite era. The default liveries for the C4, 2008 Focus and Evo are a bit odd though. I hope the Evo will also have one with red instead of blue. :P
I think (like in Dirt Rally 2.0) Codemasters collaborated with the Solbergs, hence Petter´s C4 and Henning´s Focus, thats why they are the first choice in the menu :)
Still not bought me this game. Some of your replays show physics is total off Also i miss the low frequencies from the exhaust notes. Will be used small sections of a full length road as different stages like was used in Dirt series or not?
Some of those shots are making me nervous that one of my biggest peevs with DR2 is carrying over to this, some of those cars really looked like they were yawing into the corner rather than turning in. I hope I'm wrong.
Ok i'll give it to you: i'm cautiously optimistic. 1) impressive stages with dynamic weather! 2)you insisted on handling, i really hope it's up to par. I'm still afraid of EA, i really hope they were not pushed toward arcade to touch a broader audience. Looking forward for more info. Another fear is no VR at launche. Nothing said so far.
The fact that EGO engine can do much better than this in the visual department only means one thing- this is a money grab rushed project by EA. Graphics on CMDirt2 were better back in 2008😂 Stages still look bland, surfaces look awful, windshield effects are laughable and vehicle physics are nowhere near the standard set by KT racing It’s pathetic how people used to slate the visuals of WRCG (which actually looks phenomenal on high settings) and are heaping praise on this. You can literally look up videos for dirt 2, dirt 3 etc and you’ll see how they looked at par all those years back
unreal engine is the worst engine for car games. the cars look incredibly flat and lifeless, every time. do not buy a racing game that uses Unreal, unless you want arcade shit.
Cant wait to give this a go in VR. Rally in particular is so much better with VR. Hard to go back to flat once you've had a taste. Here's hoping the game isn't EA'd too much...
yes its confirmed for vr on pc only and at an unspecified later date. due to it being unreal engine though we may not get the same quality vr dr2.0 had. plus their latest game with vr (f1) is famous for how bad the vr implementation is. so a healthy dose of skepticism is required here. hopefully it will be good, and hopefully the vr will be added later this year. also, its absolute bs and unfair they are not adding psvr2 support. i personally dont own a playstation, but that is still not right. psvr2 would work beautifully and sell a lot more psvr units/ ps5's if it had this game in vr. i bet a lot of people bought a psvr2 expecting dirt rally 3.0/ ea sports wrc to support it.@@panadatm
I got Really excited after watched this trailer. Since they moved to a different engine, I hope the gameplay follows the Codemasters standard as well. I mean More like dirt rally 2.0 than other arcade versions.
I'm not going to lie this actually sounds pretty good. Hard to judge the physics based on the video, but if the tarmac has been improved and the driving feels at least as good as in Dirt Rally 2.0 then obviously the game is worth every penny. The last EA game I played was Skate 3 over a decade ago but this might be the one. 👍

I can sympathize with you here, waiting since 2017 😆 when WRC 8 sounded like a bag of vacuum cleaners, I was like "What is this...?"

@ebengouws Exactly the vacuum cleaner, that sound ruined the game completely. Imagine now, the real SOUND from these 78 cars announced ❤ So excited, a new official WRC game from Codies🥳🥳🥳
@@oasiceplaytime4452 Yeah, just remember most of those 78 cars were already in DR2, so after watching the Deep Dive now, it looks like Codies just added their previous DR2 gameplay and graphics in the KT racing's stages (probably owned by EA) and added the new Rally1 cars 😕
@@rsr-warrior what are you on about? Kylotonn is not owned by EA, so the stages had to be rebuilt for this game. And as far as I know WRC Generations had real pieces together with fictional stages, so it was not a 1:1 recreation of the tracks.
Add PSVR2...In GT7 it's a blast and is a gamechanger!
3rd person replays look bad. Dust clouds look pathetic.
Graphics a little bit dissapointing, the rest looks great!
I don't think that is UE5, hence they ALWAYS speak of "Unreal Engine", they never mention the "5"
@@josefwurzel5072 Yep It looks like older UE4 was used for this game.
Tracks were great towards the end of " WRC " because they are all made in one piece with variations to the turns a lot more unique. You can see in this trailer " Codemasters " are using re - cycled bits of track. They need to put more effort as it makes the games boring ..
"hard edged and polygonal" i think you hit the nail on the head with that one.
DiRT 2.0 looks better on my PS5. Wow.
My mans right. Needs VR support. Anyone now who has tried GT7 won't touch a game without VR as it's really awkward to go back to flatscreen.
VR has been a game changer for all racing games, GT being the latest of them. GT didn't invent anything.. But yeah I agree, my rig is VR only and I'm anxious about UE because VR performance usually isn't that good compared to other engines (cf. ACC)
DR 2.0 had it. It would be a downgrade without
" Steam VR " support in unreal is basically enabling that plugin. Thankfully it's not their previous engine which had bad frame stuttering in vr. The implementation is easy and the optimisation for stereo rendering much harder ..
Looks awfully dated.
I hope they bring back clubs like in Dirt 2.0 and have a dedicated app to track times. The tracks the car list and the soon-to-be
released gameplay has me excited
The clubs website is still live and has EA graphics and logos now so it is looking good 👍🏻
clubs are gonna be in WRC, yes
From leaked main menu screenshot there is a ''CLUB'' section.
Clubs needed improvement too in DR 2.0. It wasnt usable for me because you could only drive one location.
In custom championship I can do 1 stage finland, next stage australia etc, instead of e.g. australia only
I need this function in WRC too

There is something about UE that doesn't stand for current standards, and it is the interactive deformation car/environment. Looks like a 2000's game in this regard. For a rally game it is very important IMO.
Well " unreal " does have a proper 4 - wheel car simulation model put of the box. That would be better than the 1 - axis " codemasters " approach. Shame we don't get that improvement ..
UE can do these things, but it is up to the developers to implement them. As it stands, they prefer gameplay over graphics because the visuals look a bit dated. But gameplay is the most important thing in sims.
Why all rally games looks so photo unrealistic? I know that graphics is not their main concern but, please, improve the lights!
I know it might have been a niche feature / gamemode but I really hope they implement some sort of co-driver mode like we had in wrc 10 and generations.
Why? So you can time a button press instead of actually calling out the signs like the WRC games did. Kylotonn’s implementation of that mode was crap!

Why? That makes it harder for people like me to enjoy the game. If I want a simulation, I would buy a simulator. This is a game remember so making it accessible to all so all can enjoy would make for a better game.
this graphic details are missing in previous WRC game (some of them already implemented in dirt rally series):
- realistic replay camera angle
- natural racing line textures caused by tire track from previous run, mostly in winding corner part of the stage the track texture can't be symmetrical following the curve shape
- in heavier terrain, dirt rut displacement can be formed from intense wheel spin on racing line ua-cam.com/video/_Sudb6Z97O8/v-deo.htmlsi=pHIySLR-htBepP91&t=123 (not just normal map)
- more wheel suspension animation in rough rocky stage, that makes high suspension setup appear more reasonable
- in uncompacted gravel stage, track collision positioned little bit below track model, so in replay camera angle, the wheel seems like dig in into the ground
- tire deformation
- terrain deformation
- soft dust particle far back of passing car
- pebble/rock particle collision
- shape of thrown sand/snow particle from front tire (like in dakar game)
- dust and water particle turbulence at back of the car
- reflection and glossiness of wet track not always the same at all part of the track even icy track have dull part
- small water puddle cause small splash
Yeah, visually its not very impressive at all.
As for the hardware 3xxx and 4xxx series Nvidia Gpu with DLSS can handle as with any PC with reasonably fast 16GB DDR4/5.

compared to dirt rally 2 this footage shows:
1. worse graphics - cars dont fit in the scene, they have different lighting than the rest of the scene and seem to float a bit above the actual ground surface - ugly
2. the driving seems kinda floaty on footage they shown
All valid points. A lower gear will give you more acceleration, so even if the engine puts out less torque at a higher rpm the gearing will compensate for that.)

also, its absolute bs and unfair they are not adding psvr2 support. i personally dont own a playstation, but that is still not right. psvr2 would work beautifully and sell a lot more psvr units/ ps5's if it had this game in vr. i bet a lot of people bought a psvr2 expecting dirt rally 3.0/ ea sports wrc to support it.@@panadatm
Ye boi
I got Really excited after watched this trailer. Since they moved to a different engine, I hope the gameplay follows the Codemasters standard as well. I mean More like dirt rally 2.0 than other arcade versions.
They have ported DR2 handling over to Unreal engine and enhanced the physics so no worries
I got Rally excited
@@twisted239 DR2 physics and driving was questionable at best, it was very much a simcade
im hyped for this but i hope it won't turn out like pd3 unplayable game simulator
ps. i hope they took at least something from rbr hu handling
i know it sounds like im nitpicking but the spectators look absolutely awful, its a big part of rally.
This looks way better than the reveal trailer. It gets my hopes up!
tbh graphically looks worse than dirt 2
@@skyhunter996thank you. Why nobody sees that? The track surfaces are almost completely flat and the cars look like they float/glide. And the surroundings unfortunately look somewhat sterile/unorganic. But let’s wait :)
