- After a recent request to do a video of Dirt rally gameplay. I returned to my favorite place, Wales! Heavy rain, Wales and Group B RWD, what more could you want! As you can see from the footage. The rain is far superior in dirt rally than in EA WRC

It is an unbelievable difference between this and EA WRC! The gameplay of EA’s WRC is great but using the Unreal 4 engine was a big mistake.
There's some great stuff in ea wrc, but some stuff falls short. I feel like the feeling of what your driving on is better translated through the feedback than in dirt. But things like water splashes, rain are far behind.
Hopefully Ea wrc will get regular updates
That's what I'm worried of the most. EA rarely supports their games for a long time if they don't make profit
@grzybowy1680 ye hopefully this isn't the case but we'll see. I'd prefer a game that doesn't release every year but has added content and updates
I think EA WRC is a great fun game. They made it fun but it is not a true sim. But god damn if it aint fun as hell.
It is very fun, I like it. Its great for when you just want to jump on and do some stages.

Dirt rally 1 is still the best of the newest to me.
Always thought it was a shame they didn't include pikes peak moving to DR2.0
I can't remember dirt rally 1 much, its been a fair few years. I think I'll return to it and give it a go
@@averagesimracergbr Yeah because GT got the license unfortunately and never used it since them.. I really like the feeling in snow and gravel in DR compared to DR 2.0 , also the braking felt more natural. I play it once a month still 🏁

In DR1 you got the feeling of the tires really digging in into gravel. I liked this very much.
A negative is the bouncing though.
@ferranis104 ye I do remember that feeling. I found the bouncing isn't great in DR2.0 neither

Let's give thanks that we have both DR2.0 and EA WRC in our game libraries, especially after the shitshow hovercraft physics that were the Kyloton WRC titles. Fancy graphics don't cut it unless the physics underneath are up to the job.

they have changed the rain now in ea sport WRC i think is better now but havent tryed that yet

I've been and had a look at the rain and it isn't great, I'm not sure if it's really changed. It's better in certain cars than others, puma wrc is terrible it's like a light is being shining onto the water droplets and it makes it almost Impossible to see.
Are you using mods here? Would love to know what you’re using in terms of mods and reshade (if at all) 💛
No Mods what so ever, bit of alteration on screen colour settings but other than that just stock game
It looks nicer, sure, but the water effect in Dirt is a static loop with no apparent dynamism that reacts to vehicle speed/attitude - which EA's game does. They're each good in their own way, but it'd be nice to have had a combination of the two _on top of_ the actual visuals of heavy rainfall we've all experienced in our lives: globs of water pounding the glass, wipers at full blast and barely making a difference, reduced visibility from the surrounding torrent. I get how unpleasant that'd be in a game, but I don't think I've ever experienced a rally game accurately do heavy rain
Totally agree but the loop on Dirt does give a better effect. I find the falling rain isn't very visible infront of you either on Ea. The water which sits on the screen also makes me feel a bit motion sick aswell for some strange reason 🤣 I'm sure it's something that may be addressed at a later date. If only one of these titles would allow open modding

Rain on windshield is so weird on EA WRC.
Yeah I wanted to do a heavy rain stage on EA but it distracts me how unnatural it moves

I'm not convinced. Since returning between the two, I'm leaning towards ea wrc when based on in game feedback and overall visual appeal
this means codemasters died with dirt rally 2.0?
I'm not sure, I think they used the base of WRC series too and moved over stuff from dirt. The menus and stuff are similar of some of the wrc games. Even the same issues of getting peripherals to work at the start were identical to wrc generations

Sorry, but both Dirt 2.0 and EA WRC are not simulators, Dirt Rally remains the most hardcore, Try to control 037 on DR1 with all help off.

Calm down Doctor, I have a problem with you, I apologize for the poorly formulated statement, what I wanted to say is... version 1 of the game seems much better on the simulation side than the others, and the suggestion I made was just so that you could feel the difference in behavior between the 1st and the other 2 games, that was it.@@averagesimracergbr

I was asking if you have RBR as that is much more realistic just slightly lacking in the graphical department. Although some modded stages are great looking

Completely agree,really wish they had kept dirt rally 1 as a base and just added new locations.
But Dirt 2.0 is more arcadish game and very bad ffb.

I totally agree! Ea does have a lot of detail in feedback. It's gd to go back and try the older titles because it makes you realised where the advancements in the titles are
