Thought about it. I think "Jimmy took the train" would probably expand to be "Jimmy took a ride on the train". So maybe it's "a ride" that's being taken/chosen rather than "the train".
I can't know whether that's really it or not, but I like the thinking! Now that you've put that in my head, that's how I'm gonna think of it and explain it, until something better comes along. But that really might be it! Thanks!

Esto es que escribí. (That’s what I wrote) To Esto es lo que escribí (That’s what I wrote here) I know “lo que” is right, I just don’t understand the purpose and don’t know when to use it? Maybe you can help?
He made a video about it, but from the info in his video I can give you a shortcut. Before writing a sentence with the same structure, think to yourself "can I say 'the thing that' instead of 'that' in this sentence?" If so, use lo que. "That's the thing that I wrote" "Esto es lo que escribí". Think of "lo" in "lo que" as "the thing". Hope this helps

If you made videos like this for all Spanish verbs depicting their default focus and their overlaps, you would be the most lauded teacher on the planet...or is it...in the world....is there a difference...I don't think so...Nuestra profesora de espanol en Cuenca Ecuador piensa que tus videos son realmente buenos tambien.
Just found this video. Something occured to me after watching it. We say "I have to TAKE care of my (dog/mom/dad)" but they don't say that. They use 'cuidar'

My Spanish 2 teacher showed us his channel and I just like his videos so much I subbed to watch even after I finished the class his videos just have a really good vibe
