2.3 cups or 400 grams cooked chickpeas 1 celery Half an onion Handful of parsley chopped 2 yo 3 pickled cucumbers Half a lemon juice 1 tsp vinegar 1 tbsp mustard sauce 3 tbsp vegan mayo or avocado 2 garlic clove Kombu dashi or kale pwdr half a tbsp Salt and pepper
I've been making this for a couple of decades and love it. You may want to try capers in place of the chopped pickles. We love them in ours! Great video!
I am making this salad today for the third time. I added chopped radishes. The bomb. This salad is absolutely delicious and I really recommend it. This is one of the best recipes I’ve seen out there, so thank you very much.
Sorry late comment…… I ran into your page….watched it three times……I had all the ingredients…….made it…… Flavors all danced around nicely…..I feel this dish has the “WOW” factor……congratulations….look forward to trying another of your dishes…..
I just made this tonight and it was everything! Our youngest daughter who’s not a vegan tasted it, and said, “Daddy, this is really good for it not to be tuna.” That brought a smile to my face 😊.
Yummm.. Looks great! Btw i just saw that Seonkyoung Longest went plant-based for mainly ethical and environmental reasons. She even mentioned the documentary seaspiracy. It's so inspiring to see big names on social media changing their belief systems and opening their minds to animal rights.
Yes! I'm so glad that the message (animal rights & environmental) is being spread faster than ever. The change in humanity is happening right now. Let's keep fueling it!
This is seriously SO good! I love chicken and tuna salads, and this is such a good alternative!! I thought the lemon juice & juice from the pickles was enough acidic flavor so I omitted the vinegar. I also omitted the fishy seasoning lol. But it was AWESOME! Thank you for this recipe!
Grand rising Jun Goto, l just stumbled upon this video, and I 'm definitely want to make this recipe and become more health conscious. I love ❤️ tuna the old school way but this looks like a better option. Thank you. 😊l gave u thumbs 👍 up. Happy Sunday ✨️
@@JunGotoVegan Confirmed, delicious! I ended up using more Kombu Dashi and less salt to amp up the ocean notes but man, it reminds me of a cross between tuna salad and egg salad (mealy chickpea/egg yolk texture). I'm running with this and going to tweak to make key west style fish dip with a bit more mashing, liquid smoke and a bit of kite hill sour cream. You're on to something!!! Nice work here :)
My friend trust me when I say this to you, all your recipes are a big hit with my universty groups from North America. You are going to become a star and if I was a network right now. I will negotiate with you and make you sign for the cheap.
Edit out the misused big superiority terms empress and love and ess, all wøm’n are the exact opposite of empress or other superiority or purity or nature related terms - I am THE only Empress / Princess / Queen / Duchess / Countess / Lady / Goddess / Star etc aka the superior / pure being and the only lovable / loved being, and all unsuitable terms and unsuitable names must be changed / edited out!
I had cooked chick peas in the freezer, delicious thank you. Ordered some kombu dashi, as i did not have it in my arsenal, I also added some red chile flakes, thank you, I can't wait to see how much tastier it is with Kombu dashi powder, udon oil is also super healthy for the brain
Is the dashi you use the same kind you use to make miso soup? I have dashi granuals for making miso soup but not sure if this is the same thing. I usually just put in some furikaka for that seafood flavor but would like to try something else.
Jun, if I have dulse and dried shiitake and use them instead of kombu dashi (unavailable on amazon for this part of Europe), do you think it'll work? I almost gave up on vegan "seafood" recipes, since the algaes really can not compare with real seafood (I loved it before going plant-based). If you promise kombu dashi will really do the difference, I will do miracles to get it. Even by relocating😜 I really miss seafood flavours😭
Hi, thanks for asking Cherry! If you don't have kombu dashi, I would just make this without it. You don't need ANYTHING that adds the sea flavor to it, trust me - it's already real good without it. I don't think dried shiitake would work for this recipe so I wouldn't recommend that. Let me know how it comes out!
Watching this in early May of 2023, I'd make my own low-fat mayo w/silken tofu, and for a little extra kick, spread a bit of horseradish sauce on the bread (toasted, not grilled w/oil)

I've discovered coarsely grated radishes work well.

This is my go to salad! I've used crushed nori in mine, but haven't tried the dried konbu dashi. That is a great addition!
Oh yes nori is also great, absolutely love the flavor of it👍

you also omitted the tuna, but it was awesome.
I agree with you about the vinegar, and by the way, either added, chopped radishes. The bomb.

You can also use soy chips insted of chickpea it will save you the over night soak in water and it has bettween 50 to 70 grams of protin
I was slightly skeptical because I don't like pickles but this is amazing. Soooo good, thank you

Thank YOU so much!😛🙌
I use toasted seaweed snacks in my salad instead of kombu and it’s still fishy and delicious.
nice idea! will do that, not sure I can find kombu
Any recommendation for brands for kombu dashi? I think I'll buy online because I'm not sure which stores near me would have it
Love for the video and recipe ... i really hate the potato smasher :D
Oh is it so frustrating isn't it😂 Glad you liked the recipe!
Hi just had a question how do you cook your chickpeas. Or can we use can chickpeas
Can you add a link for the kombu dashi?
😂😂😂when the lemon dropped
This look so good
Could i replace the combu dashi with blended noori ? Where I live there's kelp powder or combu dashi
Great question big daddy! Yes you can blend, or solely use nori or kelp powder, they are all similar😄 Thanks for watching!
What was your cooking process
Watching this in early May of 2023, I'd make my own low-fat mayo w/silken tofu, and for a little extra kick, spread a bit of horseradish sauce on the bread (toasted, not grilled w/oil)
