THAT RANCH seasoning RECIPE IS HERE - ua-cam.com/video/MAF0WXkZnVU/v-deo.html. just in case you missed it, it is in that description as well. Thanks for watching- have a wonderful weekend.
0:06 and tuning out. I used to come to your channel to learn wonderful Vegan recipes. But this kissing your dog in every video makes it not worth it. Sorry, I find it so offputting I have to hit the "don't recommend this channel" button. It's a shame. You have a lot to offer, but I don't come to recipe videos to have my stomach turned.
Truth. Adding to that, the amount of suffering reduced by billions of people replacing 1 meal a week with plant based meat is huge. It might not be a healthy vegan option but it sure would have a meaningful impact.
I'm a strict vegetarian I but I make an effort to be as plant based as possible, supporting vegan businesses where I can find them. My mental health is better when I don't obsess over eating the "right" food (I tend toward a bit of disordered eating otherwise) so I just gently nudge myself to be as plant based as I can. ❤
People, vegan and non, are generally stupid. We think we know all there is to know and have thought all there is to think, before we've learned it or done it.
Vegan is only an adjective. A clearly, strictly defined adjective. There are a million ways to fail to align any imperfect philosophy with a perfect ideal.
Certainly, vegans and non vegans, are agreeable and not, effective and not. Some appreciate a hard sell, others appreciate soft, or none at all. Many look for excuses to not look at themselves.
@richardgleaves (Poe's Law) Breeding animals is always exploitation. However, many human-animal (aka pet) relationships are mutually beneficial. // Rescuing dogs from a kennel may seem to justify or make breeding seem more acceptable. However good cannot be blamed for bad. Yet the human responsible for feeding a pet faces a moral dilemma.
We aren’t vegan, but 95% of our meals are. When we made the decision to change our diet 7 years ago, my partner didn’t want to give up fish. So we have fish twice a month at most. We tell others we are eating with that we are vegan, so we don’t have to go through an explanation of what a dairy-free pescatarian eats, or risk someone serve us fish with dairy, etc. I look at it in the sense that we are making a difference with our diet, and we feel a hell of a lot better than we did prior. Gatekeeping sucks, and trying to call out people that are living their life, creating great content and recipes (freely) that benefit many also sucks. A lot of people would be happier if they spent more time looking for the good, or appreciating people, than trying to tear them down. Myself included. Thanks Derek, I appreciate the recipes and openness you bring to your videos.
@@faith.W I wrote that we are dairy free pescatarians, that predominantly follow a vegan diet. I googled pescatarian for you: “A person whose diet is primarily vegetarian but also includes fish. A person who consumes no animal flesh with the exception of fish or seafood.” So I did mention the victims, wrapped up in a word that gives more clarification 🤷♂️.
@@faith.W ah, I think I see what you are getting at. I cannot fully understand the point of it, but that’s alright. Take it easy, but you probably won’t.
@@faith.Wyou know you're literally the type of vegan that Derek is talking about in this vid, right? Op is doing a lot for animals, and it's not up to you to shame them for not being perfect enough or not meeting your standards.
@@katelijnesommen @kylegraywolf Don't get it twisted, OP is not doing a lot for animals. They're just doing a lot less damage to them than most other people. No amount of abuse is ever okay, not even the fish that die for OP twice a month. To be even more specific, even someone that is fully vegan is not doing anything FOR the animals necessarily, they're just not contributing to their abuse and murder. A vegan is simply not opting in to the violence, it is the neutral position. Either you understand that animals are not here for us to treat as property, or you do not. There is no middle ground. Yes, I get that the real world won't go vegan overnight. This is a transition that will be undertaken slowly by society, but only true progress can come from the assertion and understanding that NO amount of abuse is EVER okay. This is the kind of vegans I need in my life. I want to be vegan, I really do. But living in Ghana (not in the capital) with limited resources with anti-vegan husband is a serious challenge and sometimes you just have to compromise. But I'm aiming at less cruelty every day.
I think it’s ok to be a vegetarian sometimes. The way I look at it is right now our first hope as vegans is to see the meat industry crash (or at least see more humans not eating meat). As long as you’re not touching a dead animal it’s fine. That’s my philosophy anyways. And I always go for dairy free alternatives whenever it’s feasible.
Oh damn, Veganism in Ghana is never easy sister. I'm not vegan myself, but hope it gets easier for you. Dunno if you considered leaving that countrh with your family and getting to the Uk/USA
Thank you, Derek. The very first vegan gathering I went to, someone was derisive because I hadn't thought about giving my dog vegan food. I am a strong woman who has endured and survived a lot of grief so she didn't affect me too deeply but I would hate to see her do that to someone in a fragile state of mind. You are right - we are all on our own journey. When people ask about my eating, I tell them I am transitioning to a more vegan/plant-based way of eating. I came to that realization about myself because I keep a well stocked pantry that had quite a few items with traditionally used oils, meat products, broths, etc that I wasn't willing to pitch because I changed directions. Soft curves in the road are much more pleasant than sharp turns. All the best. Chari Farin
Hi Derek, 42 y/o lifelong 'carnivore', (as my parents always called me), here. Now, I'm not necessarily saying I'm going to do a sudden turn around or anything. But, this is only the second video of yours I've watched, and I'm already seeing some interesting things I'd like to try here. I've never had issues eating my veggies, never been a problem. But, you're making some really tasty looking stuff that I'm going to incorporate into my dining rotation. I'm not even sure how I came across your channel, but I'm glad I did! Thanks for this!
It all looks delicious but so effortful. You need so many ingredients and still not get all the minerals and vitamins and amino acids of a bit of meat fish or egg
@@irenalovesart4064 I was thinking the same thing. But I think if I'm going to try this out, I'm not going all the way. It is an incredibly healthy, tasty meal that would only be beneficial to add to a diet rotation. To me, it seems like the best way to reduce the effort while also saving time is to just skip the dressing. For that I can just use olive oil mayo, loosened up a bit with some citrus. That, and some normal cheese and whole wheat bread instead of the vegan versions. Everything else is just veggie prep, which is not a big deal to me.
@Tawleyn I was dairy intolerant for decades so ended up being vegan for about 5 yrs. It is inedible difficult and time consuming to do this in a way that is both delicious and includes a many aminos etc as possible. Unless you live in a traditionally veg home, like hindu Indian? This is a lot more than most people will do over time. We all resort to short cuts. That's why meat n 3 veg is a cliche
I often reflect on the fact that I was blocked by a very zealous vegan twitter account for suggesting we might want to encourage vegetarians to eat more plant based food instead of shaming them for not being perfect. It helps keep me level headed when talking about these things with my very meat-keen family. Love your content, Derek. Keep it coming and give pooch some love.
What vegans need to keep in mind with meat eaters is that meat eaters aren’t eating meat for the sake of cruelty. 1. It IS hard to cut out a whole food group. Imagine the people who are encouraged to go vegan in the middle of pro diet culture. NOW they have to cut out meat IN ADDITION to bread, pasta, and ice cream ? I don’t encourage the vegan diet for people struggling with an eating disorder (or anyone that’s afraid to eat more than 1200 calories) I’d rather see someone form a healthy relationship with food before they feel ready to commit to veganism. After all, we don’t need people perpetuating the myth that veganism is unhealthy or unsustainable. It really irks me when vegans are like “we only eat meat because it feels good!” NO! We EAT food because it’s a source of energy and nutrition and we’re used to getting it from meat primarily 😤
@@SamanthaManning-xy8futhe problem is that some people just don't find any issue with the fact that animals are dying for their convenience. I did, which is why I stopped eating meat. The way someone treats me will not make me go back on my morals, and I feel that anyone who feels strongly about something will have similar conviction. Even if the entire vegan community somehow turned against me, I would simply not associate with them, but I would still continue with my current lifestyle. I would not buy animal products out of spite
@@NoSmoke1Well said, the energy and nutrition she claims to get from eating meat, can be derived from a plant food diet,it's simply greed and gluttony for dead animals,to continue to support the torture and suffering of animals, and eating a diet that's unsustainable, and destroying the environment, when there are so many healthy good food to eat out there other than dead animals,is totally ridiculous.
Wise words! Thank you so much. I’ve been a vegan for 27 years, and I’m surrounded by meat eaters. When I first started, I used to be judgmental, but that approach achieved nothing. Now, I’ve shifted my perspective. Instead of pushing my beliefs onto others, I cook for everyone and even buy vegan treats for my co-workers. This approach has shown me how much more effective it is to gently guide people toward a kinder lifestyle.
My work has potlucks fairly frequently. They know that whatever I bring will be plant based. I bring fresh fruit regularly and prepare it for my peers for their breaks. Fills my heart with joy to add to their meals something fresh. I never preach. I don’t want to be ‘that’ person. I hope to lead by example.
I struggled with the same thing in the beginning, but it doesn't take long till you realize the "holier than thou" approach is actually counterproductive. If I find myself slipping back into being judgmental I ask myself, "were you vegan from birth? What were you eating in the day?" Gives me some perspective and helps.
My gran used to say “you get more flies with honey, than with vinegar”. ❤️💕🙏🏼….. so I really love the idea of making vegan/plant based treats for family or coworkers! That works much better than giving a lecture or criticism. Everyone loves a yummy treat!! I started my plant based journey due to nearly dying from an autoimmune disease. I found that Dr’s were not listening to me and pushing me in all the wrong directions. In 2015 at just age 45, I could no longer work and was in and out of the hospital. My Dr had put me on The Keto Diet and I got even worse, by worse I literally mean I was at deaths door. I became a type 2 diabetic (overnight) and you name the blood test, I failed it…. Even my kidneys were failing. Lucky for me, a plant based rheumatologist just happened to visit me in my hospital room as my Dr was out sick that day (turned out to be one of the best days of my life) he said to me “have you ever tried plant based?” As he looked at my chart, when I said “no, my Dr put me on Keto, she said that was best”… he just shook his head in amazement……..He said “I have a book for you, please read it, it’s also free on Audible, I’ll go and grab a copy from my office, I’ll be right back!” I was moved to actual tears at the thought of a Dr actually caring…. Really caring! So while he was going back to his office to get me a physical copy of the book, I downloaded it on Audible…. I popped in my headphones and listened to every word. That Book was The Starch Solution, By Dr John McDougall…. And it’s truly changed my life. In just 3 months, all my tests, even my kidney function, were normal. Just 3 months of plant based and no oils…. I also effortlessly lost 30 pounds. I never lost weight on keto like most people claim….. nope…. I gained weight, the saturated fat was to much for me. Anyways, my point is, everyone’s journey to Whole Foods, plant based is different. I got here to this point for health reasons… but of course I stay for the animals, and I’d continue to do so, even if I didn’t have to eat this way, to sustain my health! ❤️💕🙏🏼
This approach genuinely works. I grew up with mostly standard Eastern European cooking, so a lot of it focused on meat. But as I had a chance to be more adventurous with my food choices and met people who cooked delicious vegan and vegetarian food, I started including more and more of it in my own cooking. I still eat meat, but I'd say my diet is around 25% vegan, 50% vegetarian and only around 25% meat based (and even here I generally avoid beef). Not because someone yelled at me or demanded moral purity, but because a lot of people showed me a lot of big and small ways I can make my food tastier, healthier and kinder to all living things.
OK as someone who has justified reasons to keep eating meat (which have pretty much run out now), but doesn't really even like meat, I promise your approach works. It's like every time we try a delicious plant based meal, it's like yeah why eat meat? I've learned to cook so many freaking delicious vegetable dishes... On a somewhat related note, a few weeks back my dad bought some super expensive steaks and grilled them for me and my brothers birthday. I made this lime cilantro rice and my dad also made crispy broccoli, potatoes, and sweet potatoes. My brothers used to looove steak. I couldn't eat it...but my brothers like each took 2 bites and then ate everything else on the plate. And got seconds of everything else. My dad looked sad like "I thought you guys' favorite food was steak." And one of them was just like "I dunno what happened but it just feels weird chewing pieces of flesh." Like that's a breakthrough.... So much more flavor and health us meat eaters have missed out on, and you're saving lives by doing what you do! Thanks for the inspiration ❤
I am not a vegan I am a true carnivore. Since I've been watching your videos for the first time in my life I eat more vegan food than I've ever eaten in my lifetime. I find your recipes very enjoyable and very easy to make and they're very tasty. I still like my meat but I'm not eating near as much as I used to. Keep making your videos keep making great recipes I think you're trying to change me LOL.
yay! more variety. ❤ if more carnivore based people ate some more vegetables it could seriously change a lot! more balance and overall health (although some people dont digest veg well) thank you. (I also eat meat. partly because I dont have a lot of time or money to ensure proper protein and nutrients)
@@7DrunkenMermaids It's a made-up concept in your head. Are you saying that lions, tigers, and even fish eat the wrong way? They all eat other animals.
My friends love my recipes and feeding them is my way of giving support. Same friends ask me to make their favorite foods and request recipes so they can cook these dishes at home for their families. Easy way to spread the love. 😅
I mostly eat plants and mushrooms, but if I’m traveling and a host, or my grandma wants me to try a bite I will, mb it even helps other’s see it’s easy to be flexatarian and then they will try.
You don't get to tell vegans what they need to do. Veganism isn't an ideology to fit YOUR liking or tend to the feelings of humans. It's about ANIMAL RIGHTS.
Mighty tiger lmaooo your whole identity sounds deeply ingrained in being a vegan and you sound angry Try getting a life and not being so offended by everything and everyone are you a feminist as well. All these STRONG opinions are hilarious.
It’s true brother. I’m 63, Vegan since 1998 - for the animals, now for health and the planet. Sickened at the rubbish that the crazies throw up. Ignore them brother- you’re an inspiration!
Beef Chicken Pork Fish These are the things Vegans are getting wrong. Carbs are a harmful poison for our bodies. Animals are food just like Humans its an eat or be eaten world. Be a sheep Keep Eating Animal foods like vegetables and carbs continue to be farmed instead of being the farmer.
Never concern yourself with judgements of fools. But humbly accept sound critique. It may be fruitful to constructively listen and debate. The entire internet is the audience... unless direct and privately addressed.
Thank you for this Derek. You have no idea how much I appreciate this post. The "not vegan enough" crowd has done the vegan movement so much damage in my country. I have just started a plant based community kitchen in Stellenbosch, where I intend to inspire my community to come cook and share my table. I have deliberately dropped the vegan name because of the negative stigma these militant and agressive people tagged to the movement. I want a caring, compassionate and happy space to share the joy of plants and where nobody is judged.
"The perfect is the enemy of the good" was never more true than in this context. We are all 'doing good', even if we aren't doing it perfectly. Animals are subjected to such horror on a daily basis that every act sparing them, no matter how small, should be celebrated. I could give you three separate incidents growing up in "farm country" that pushed me into 30 years of vegetarianism, and one incident that finally (thankfully!) tipped me into being plant-based. They are all so sad and so deeply disturbing that I try not to think of them anymore, so I just move forward, doing what I can do. Thank you so much for all you do. You are a good man.
Your food philosophy and talent are greatly appreciated. I've been plant-based since 2004 and Buddhist since 2008. Both shifts caused much consternation from my circle. As you indicated, the world needs more compassion. Thank you for lighting the way. 🙏🕉
@@leightaft7763 So that’s you willfully misunderstanding my comment, telling me I’m wrong, and putting a mocking laughing face to scold me that “we should all support each other.” The irony…
Well said 👏 Also, let's not let the bad actors on both sides (vegan and carnists) ever make us uncomfortable with calling ourselves vegan because it is a very important word. It instantly says, "Killing sentient beings is wrong, and this is why I abstain. " It is an instant and potent reminder. Let's not white wash it, aka "Plant based ". Vegan for the animals 🌱🍓🤗
I'm not vegan nor completely vegetarian, but my aim is to eat at least 80% plant based so I'm always looking for vegan recipes and this one I'm totally gonna try. What's most important to me is that the food I buy is local, so I don't want to use avocado, quinoa and other "trendy" foods that are often featured in vegan recipes. These ingredients travel thousands of miles by plane or ship to my country, making them unsustainable for me to use. This recipe is awesome because the ingredients are easy to find locally, AND it looks delicious and easy to make! I respect and admire vegans for their moral choice and I wish we could all strive for a more sustainable society without looking down on others for not being "perfect" enough. What's most important is that each one of tries to do their best.
Why not become one of those vegans and be proud of your moral choice? Do you think you're not perfect enough? Believe me, it's not about being perfect.
Fellow non vegan here and i couldn't agree more with you! Local, small business, farm raised, organic, ethically farmed, these are all things that are steps in the right direction and shouldn't be demonized. I eat as much plant based vegan foods as i can, but i will never be 100% vegan. We shouldn't have to justify our lives, especially if we're making a really strong effort toward ethical diet choices. We all have our personal reasons for our choices, and they're no one else's business. Keep on living your beautiful life the way you need to and let no one talk down to you 💕💕
I agree. We eat from our & friends & families' back yards, & farms, & variously local/regenerative/organic etc. as available. Decades of excessively plant based eating harmed my health, despite careful food combining, despite supplementing, & despite not even being fully vegetarian, let alone vegan. & as the onset was insidious, I thought it was 'just normal aging'. Some people can not safely & healthily be entirely plant based, even if they want to
Absolutely! Right on, this is exactly how my 8 year old daughter converted me! Always encouraged never shamed. It's been over a decade and we just went to Vegfest! Thanks for the wisdom coach, you really make a difference! Love ya, Frankie!
Looks delicious! And I love the philosophy. I've been vegan for 22+ years, but I continued to wear a pair of animal leather boots from before, until they wore out completely. I couldn't justify tossing them or donating them only to buy another pair. Sure, it made me feel icky to think about, but I wasn't putting my money there or creating demand for that crap after going vegan. To this day, I'm still discovering more compassionate alternatives to the things I'm buying, using, or doing. It's a continual process, and it's all about doing your best!
@@Aelffwynn Other than the countless sources that say leather production is leaps and bounds worse for the environment and the workers producing it than (all of the) vegan alternatives? And the tests people have done that conclude vegan leather holds up better than animal leather at similar price points? You have the Google machine at your fingertips, homie.
@@hclyrics I should have expanded on that by specifying a preference for secondhand leather as opposed to brand new fake leather. I've used the Google machine, homie.
It's so hard in this society for people to change their diets when everything being pushed at them is fast food, junk food, oversized portions, and mostly built around meat. It takes time to change your thinking, and more time to change your diet, to learn how to not rely on meat as the meal with a side vegetable or salad. We've been programmed to eat what the food industry is pushing at us. People deserve credit for even trying. And this recipe looks fantastic, can't wait to try it!
It’s not just the food industry. People in the Western world have been eating a meat main course for centuries. It’s “normal.” So don’t try to blame the “industries.” They’re trying to make a living.
Ppl need to eat what’s healthiest and easiest for them to maintain their personal optimal health. For some ppl that will be vegan, some vegetarian, some pescatarian, some balanced, some meat based. Our societies issue is our junk food and wastefulness. A hunter who uses every part of the animal is doing more than a vegan who throws away everything.
Many people view not eating meat like "don't steal from people". Our brains don't work like that. We're more food addicted than ever, and reversing that is not easy.
@@trevnti thank you for mentioning that about hunters and even before industrialization cuz one of the things that frustrates me, is well. Yes, we're eating more meat, but more specifically we're eating more muscle tissue. And basically wasting more food particularly in the western diet. People don't eat organ meat as much as they used to either, or other parts of the animal. That's a lot of wasted animal products. It's funny too because people look at it as gross that other cultures eat certain foods like bugs, other parts of the animal, the face.
When I started vegan 5 years ago, it wasn’t about compassion, but the funny thing is that it turned to compassion towards every living being. And that’s awesome ❤
Derek I thank you for this video. Its so strong. I've been vegan/plant based for 13 years -- and health oriented vegan for about 8 of those years. What we all need to emphasize is the compassion as you say. I originally read a diet book called Skinny Bitch that talked about how we treat the animals we eat for food and after closing the book I never ate meat or eggs again. I could not participate in what we do and I haven't. Not only that but if people knew what happens to the environment from massive animal farming operations they would think twice again. I'm glad you don't try to shame people or blame but just make an appeal to people's hearts. That is so important.
I love that book! It's so well researched, and humorous. I have to read it every year or so to keep me honest. I wish they would do an updated version.
I've always thought that the vegan lifestyle was kind and great for the animals, but personally I can't give up beef :( i've tried to give up pork and i usually try not to eat it, but it's still very hard for me to give it up even though i know that the animals are dying for it. do you have any tips as a vegan/vegetarian?
Man I feel this so deeply. I also saved to have a vegan leather sofa sectional. I’ve got two puppers and two cats. The material works on a practical level and jeesh, this is the technology we have available nowadays. People need to breathe, practice introspection and get outside for a walk with some alone time. We’re all doing our best. I wish people could be better to one another and all beings on this planet.
Couldn't agree more. Vegan/vegetarian eating is not about purity or shame. It's not a religion. It's about acknowledging that causing suffering and harm against a being that can't consent (or hasn't consented) to the risk of harm is bad. Reducing suffering to the extent of your ability is good. Harm reduction. Ending needless suffering. That's the whole deal. No one gives a sh*t about your purity. Help people on their journey; don't tear them down for not walking fast enough.
@@arth8265 What teleological goal? "Reduce suffering for the sake of reducing suffering" is a good in and of itself. An ethical good right now. It doesn't need a chronological end (e.g. abolition of all animal suffering) to have meaning. Also, what theology (i.e. careful study of the nature of God and theistic moral truths)? Reducing suffering by rejecting animal flesh and animal byproducts is a good regardless of whether (and precisely which) god exists. Not sure about your terms.
@@arth8265see the thing that doesn’t make sense here is that if OP had said “we should stop polluting the environment with fossil fuels”, you sure as shit wouldn’t be calling it a religion. But as soon as you mention not harming animals suddenly it’s a religion. The hypocrisy is palpable. It must be so convenient to disregard anything you want as being a religion, even something as basic as reducing harm.
Thank you so much for this! I went vegetarian in 1983 (I was 12), for the animals. By 1985 I was vegan. I wavered back-and-forth between vegetarian and vegan for a couple of decades, but have been committed to plant-based for about 10 consistent years now. I also hate using the word. “vegan“ because it’s so loaded and people get so offended! I have been hearing vegan and vegetarian jokes and theories about anti-veganism my whole freaking life! I’ve literally heard it all. I only know a few vegans and none of us bash other people for eating meat, yet people automatically get defensive as if we will. It’s so strange. I really don’t care what other people eat-if it makes them feel good, and I don’t believe bullying people into doing ANYTHING it’s EVER going to be effective. Being plant-based is a personal choice and a personal journey. When people ask me about being vegan, I’ve even stopped answering-I just tell them to go to websites or watch documentaries like “Cow because I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything! And I never did try to. I am vegan for the animals. I am vegan because personally I just can’t stomach the idea of eating meat. That’s my personal decision. There are no perfect vegans. That’s ridiculous. I could go on and on about why there are no “perfect” vegans… there are so many things that people have no idea aren’t actually vegan and it’s mind blowing… Just to name one… Pepto-Bismol! 😮 But I’m not going to waste my time listing everything. Also… Vegans can be overweight/obese! Sometimes it is about diet (vegan junk food is extremely prevalent now-it was not in the 80s/90s), but a lot of the time it can be about genetics or menopause or stress or insomnia or hormones or other countless things. People just need to stop judging each other 😡. We’re all just doing the best that we can. Even if you only eat a few vegan things, or vegan once a week, or just keep an open mind. And I do think it’s true that a lot more people would be vegan if they had to kill and butcher their own meat every time they wanted to eat it. People used to grow, raise, prepare their own food. Grocery stores and markets are awesome for convenience… But they should not be used at the expense of being capable of growing and creating your own meals. I commend you for your compassion and strength. Thank you! 💚🌿
I agree with you in answering questions… I recently had a person ask me at my work how can you not eat meat? I knew he would be offended by what I really thought I just said I have my reasons and sharing them would not be anything you would want to hear. Thank you for the idea of what to say.
I'm not vegan but I eat a lot of vegan meals that I make personally make myself. Being Lebanese Armenian Greek we have a lot the plant based meals. I live a very holistic organic lifestyle. I wanted to just mention how I really appreciated the last bit of your video.❤ I just found you a few days ago. And I think you're my favorite vegan chef!
US male, 59, vegetarian since 2013, vegan since 2020. Like you, I've heard all the gripes, including from my own brother, whose been vegan longer than I have. I just can't sanction being so hardcore that you miss the forest for the trees. It's totally a journey, and some days I still want a pizza with dairy cheese on it. But I keep on keepin' on, and I tip my hat to you, Derek, for doing the same. Love your recipes, and Frankie is super cute, too.
Your words really resonate with me. My wife and I decided to go vegan 6 months ago after slowly adding more vegetarian meals to our diet over the past couple of years. It wasn't intentional but in hindsight I see we started making this switch a long time ago and just this year consciously said we are putting a label on it, but I was thinking about that label the other day. After having lunch with coworkers and them noticing my order and asking me if I was vegetarian I told them the story of how I got here and some were encouraging but others were shaking their heads because "they could never do it" which a year ago I would have said too. But the label of vegan is just a way to help describe you. In reality I prefer to avoid animal products for environmental and health reasons. But it took baby steps to get here and that's what I tell everyone. And now I'm having to relearn how to cook and your videos have been very helpful on that front!
You are such a special person. Thank you for your authenticity 😊 Thank you for being kind and compassionate. It’s been a long time if ever that I’ve seen a man with your qualities.
Glad t o know you two are buddies. Gaz was my inspiration when I started my vegan journey. He was barely a teen when he courageusly filmed his meal preparatons and spoke out for the animals. The comments overflowef with "please Gaz, never change" because he was so humble and loveable.
this doesn't surprise me, Gaz! i've been vegan for around 35 years and I can spot those vegans who're gonna try to pick faults a mile off now- they're angry, jealous, sad; i dunno. it doesn't bother me but then again i don't make my living from being vegan unlike you guys and i can see how those attacks could be damaging and/or distressing for you.

@@DerekSarnoChef 10:44 "I tend to throw away the last..." How about "I tend to *compost* the last..." as you are sensitive to all living beings, don't forget that there are more living microbes in one teaspoon of healthy soil than there are people living on this planet. And they are starving, suffering because we are dosing them with toxins (pesticides), leaving the soil bare (conventional agriculture practices), destroying their homes (by tilling), and everything that grows from that soil that is pollinated, eating those plants and the animals that eat those plants, ultimately-us a humans suffer the chronic consequences. What can we do to combat climate change and food waste? Turn food scraps into a resource. Save those frayed onions in a freezer bag along with other peels, skins, roots and when that freezer bag is full, make a vegetable stock. Then put those scraps into compost. These days there are small appliances that enable you to compost indoors without odor. Look them up.
Your final comments are sorely needed and kind. I too would never have imagined I would be a vegan. Now after 12 years, I am a committed conservationist and support plant based choices. Continue to lead with kindness. An old saying ... "You can catch more flies with honey, than with vinegar."
Thank you. first time watching you and appreciate your sentiments - agree wholeheartedly! love the way you love your nunu. it's wonderful to see a well loved dog.
Derek, so glad I came across your postings, I truly enjoy them. I’m not 100% plant based, but I enjoy eating my veggies and I have days in my week that I prefer to have a WFPB day. I’m going through a different journey in life since the loss of my husband of 40 years, eating better is one of them. I’m not able to do retreats, but I’d love to hear more about the 5 steps of grieving and how you’ve been able to mend within. Good health to you! And thank you for your time & efforts of putting these videos together for our enjoyment & benefit.
THANK YOU for all your fun recipes that I've been loving. And today, for your centering advice. It's nice to be reminded that compassion is for all living things, including perfectionist vegans, and non-vegans who troll on vegan channels. I find a sense of humor helps. I mean it helps me! ha
Thanks for being so open Derek. I love when you vocalise that this is about the animals - a lot of vegan content these days doesn't bring that up so much and I get it, people can be switched off by the preaching or whatever, but for myself even though I'm coming up to 14 years of it now I still need to hear other vegans like yourself talking about doing this for the animals to lift my spirit again. I could never go back, but sometimes it's frustrating to feel limited and othered so your voice always pulls me back to a good place and inspires me ❤
Recently I was sitting with a chef in his cafe, and when I said that we need more compassion for animals and I completely abandoned any meat and fish (around 14 years ago), he just laughed at me. The fact you were a chef and became a vegan is really inspiring.
your videos get better and better. I appreciate the acknowledgment of people trying and becoming plant based at their own pace. it can be hard to do. For me I had a spiritual moment that was fostered by saving a small bird. Long story short, after nursing the bird to health and releasing it. She would come back to visit and land on my shoulder. It was then I realized ( after year and years of hunting ) that these animals, even though small like this bird, have a consciousness that can recognize a "friend" . The day that thought came into my head I went plant based.
Love your approach to plant based eating and your recipes. Hubby and I have been doing this lifestyle for 10 yea4s now. We aren't always 'plant perfect' or even 'plant strong', we call ourselves plant imperfect. In our 80's and doing well. Thanks again! Jazz says Hi to Frankie.
Your food is amazing and your attitude is so admirable. When we are open to it, our experiences help us continue to grow. I was watching you roast the garlic with the skin on in a dry pan,. I did it the other night and it was perfect!! I love learning new techniques. Thank you :)
Your presence power is all I needed to see. I am hooked. The depth of your being radiates, thru everything on the screen. It screams reverence from your mighty companion and guardian of being at your side, to the skill of the food prep, the creativity off the wall, the essence in which you communicate to the audience, and on and on. Brother you have this down, don’t allow the small mindedness of unconscious people seep in. You are a gift/blessing and watching you is a meditation in itself. Much gratitude/ respect 🙏
I love your shows and you. I have lived a plant base diet since the 70"s. Never was a big meat eater. Probably the weird kid who loved fruit and veggies. We grew them. They tasted so good to me. What my family did just made them assume. Keep up the good work you are doing. Forget those haters. We will always have them regardless, what we do in life. Peace and Love
What an absolutely fantastic rant. Totally agree with you, it's all about trying your best, enjoying the super yummy food and always about being kind to everyone. To much negativity out there, more people need to positive like you ❤
I'm so glad I found your channel! Your recipes are amazing. I made your bean soup yesterday and it's the best I've ever had. Thank you for all you do in the name of compassion ❤
Thank you, Derek!!! Love everything you do!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous Frankie with us as well!!! She's a lucky girl to have you as her caregiver!!!
Vegan here wearing a leather belt! So said Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home”. Blessed be! Thank you for another great video. I’m learning so much from you. Really appreciate it.
Soooo nice, everything, the cooking, the idea behind it, how you transfered it into that awesome words at the end. You are awesome! Love it!!! Keep going!
Ah there's nothing quite like a comments section for amplifying divisive options, fortunately my IRL experience of vegans has only ever been sympathetic. I hope you enjoyed the British summer Derek, it's my favourite day of the year!
Thank you so much for your message about compassion. I used to walk about a block away from a butcher’s house and hear the animals crying in fear and pain. I will never forget their anguish and how powerless and helpless I felt to be of any help. It is one of the most horrific soul piercing experiences. I wholeheartedly embrace love and compassion for sentient beings and especially for those who cannot defend themselves
Animal’s aren’t alive when they arrive at a butcher, they are carcasses. They are slaughtered at a slaughterhouse and the carcasses are butchered at the butcher shop into sale to consumers instead of wholesale because Mrs Smith wants a pound of sausage and a couple of pork chops, not a 400lb side of beef. If you heard animal noises near to a butcher you probably heard local cats fighting or fornicating and dogs barking but knew there was a butcher living or working nearby, and most butchers don’t live or sleep in their butcher shop their house and business are almost always in different locations with work and home being in different places, and who may have had pets, but as a little kid you added 2 to 2 and came up with 22.
Derek, you are super inspiring and I appreciated your vulnerability here. I’m Plant-based-curious. Been on the journey about 3 months now and eat about 95% “vegan”, but I don’t dare call myself one. I thought it was hard enough explaining to my friends who aren’t vegan what I’m doing and why I’m trying but man it is ever discouraging looking at comments on places like UA-cam and other online sources like Vegan Facebook groups and seeing how mean some folks are. It just makes me want to push away. The attacks hurt the community. I almost never post comments as I don’t want the conflict - I’m just trying to learn - but after watching you this morning, I wanted to say thank you. We’re not all in the same boat, but we’re all in the same storm. It’s totally an individual journey. Cheers dude. I’ve made a bunch of your meals and am definitely part of the mushroom mafia. 🤘🍄🟫
@@DerekSarnoChef, I get the awkwardness of feeling a need to 'explain', but whilst some people are allergic to some animal products, lying about being 'allergic to all' of them is harmful to those people who discover they need to return to them in some degree, for health reasons, yet have already developed internalised fear of them from pressure overzealous vegan peers.
Just found your channel yesterday and I’m powering through your videos ❤️ amazing all you share. Thank you I will be trying all of these recipes. Your voice is so calming too it makes it a pleasure to watch and listen.
Thank you for being real. I started eating plant-based due to my cholesterol. I love to cook and decided despite people asking why, I would show them why not with my food! I don't hear any complaints when they're at my dinner table😅
I've been vegan 100% for 4 years now. For the animals. I get a lot of grief from others. I don't care. I've seen and heard enough about how animals are raised, kept, transported and slaughtered. I have a vegan leather jacket, boots.. I have an esthetic s business that is completely vegan. I can't tell you how many times people/reps put the phone down when I ask about cruelty free, third party testing and ingredients. You have to dig deep and they don't like it. I follow you and a couple others and you are teaching me how to experiment with different plant based recipies, how to replicate with what ingredients and seasonings I have on hand (I live in a tiny caravan in Colorado. 22ft. So space for ingredients/spices is limited). I'm getting better with tofu😁. Any tofu in restaurants was blehck. But I'm getting better, thanks to you. And your brother🙂 I appreciate your channel and you. Sorry for long post. This one hit a nerve.
Your words on being Vegan are most appreciated. Brought up on a farm, my father killing animals to provide for his family and earn an income was standard. But I could never be a farmer because I didn't wish to kill animals. My father was a most wonderful kind person. I have been vegetarian for 9 years, most meals are vegan, I do have some ghee which is very healthy and if someone cooks me a meal with egg and cheese (a lot of cheeses use vegetarian rent now) I will consume respectfully. Compassion as you so well stated is the foundation for this. My family eat meat and they are most welcomed to do so. You have articulated the feeling of many I suspect. Thanks for sharing. Take care and I'll keep watching
Delicious looking sandwich. Yummy!! Hello sweet, Frankie. You are more than special Ms. America. I'm glad your Dad has you. Love the recipes and Blessings to you both.
I’m 66 years old. Grew up vegetarian in a meat eating family and became vegan 36 years ago. For the animals. I’m surrounded by meat eaters: family, friends and partner. I do not preach or ever talk about it and nobody has ever asked me about it. My example has never swayed anyone towards veganism except for my late husband. It’s a very lonely life. I’m in a constant state of mourning over the cruelty done to animals and nature.
It is difficult to watch other people eat animals without a care. But I am glad you are able to stick to it and it inspires me to keep going as a 23 year old that is also surrounded by meat eaters.
@@geode9512 I remember sitting in a restaurant with close family who all ordered lamb.I was very young.Nowàdays I would have asked how they could be so mean and left. But I was the youngest and most sensitive 20 years ago!
@rosiebuddy4763 thank you for your comment. I am in the exact same boat. Some of my Friends will make me a vegan dish when I come over, which I appreciate but never expect. However, no one ever asks me the reasons why I am vegan and in the past when I tried to bring up animal treatment, they just held their hands over their ears and said they don't want to know about it, because it would make them feel bad. How could you not want to know?
I loved the "rant" at the end! I call myself wfpb for that very reason. No need to convict others...that sows seeds of dissection.. I'm also a Christian and would say that is my gripe with many "religious" people. God is love, (he wants all of us in heaven with him) he wants us to love others as ourselves. How can we sow seeds of love with envy or condescension in our hearts? Compassion takes learning (and in my opinion, God's help). Blessings to you all❤
Thank you, Derek, for articulating so eloquently what I have long felt regarding “militant” veganism. The whole point is compassion towards other beings, human or otherwise. Not to mention that attempting to force your point of view on others is completely counterproductive. I have several people in my life who have been inspired to eat more plant based (including my brother who is fully vegan) without my ever saying a word, unless asked, about how I eat or why. I love watching your videos as much for seeing your obvious passion for your art form as for the delicious creations themselves. Plus the love bond between you and Frankie is heartwarming to see!
Thank you , am loving your content . This is the most genuine video I have seen. Like minded here! Much love and support to you and your journey of life. Thanks for sharing your recipes and thoughts , Happy holidays to you and your pup and fam and friends Cheers
We'd get more people on on "team" being enthusiastic, encouraging, kind and NOT militant. I don't know about some folks, but if someone comes at me with what I'm doing wrong and full of judgement and militancy, I'm not going to bend to what they think I should do. Good work & message, Derek!
I've been vegan 34yrs, and I can tell you, those are the folks most likely to quit. They are looking for an entire personality and purpose by doing something that should really only be a small part of how you live should you choose to live a life of compassion.
Thank you for your honesty. I'm coming up to one year of plant based. I still have leather boots from "before", I can't afford to replace them yet and I've had abuse hurled at me by other vegans. It's a sad and cruel enough world without knocking each other down. I love your channel, it's incredibly inspirational. Thank you and hugs,as always, to the beautiful Frankie x
From a non vegan but environmentally conscious, I'm sure it's worse for the environment to replace your boots with new vegan ones than simply keeping yours. Replacing animal based clothing after becoming vegan makes no sense from a sustainability point of view. It's nothing but dogma. The animal is already dead and that can't be changed; you won't make the world or yourself better by replacing them, and in fact you could add to C02 emissions and pollution. It makes even less sense with wool garments, as most vegan knits are acrylic/polyesther which are terrible for the environment.
Yeah people might get a bit offended if you're wearing their dead friend's skin. And I say this as someone who wears leather and fur lol. When people get mad at me I don't blame them.
People are dumb. Also, please don't just throw away your boots. While I'm not vegan, if I did decide to go vegan, I wouldn't throw away anything that was made using animals in some way, including food, I'd just stop buying stuff that was made with animals. The way I think of it is, "The animal's already dead, it'd be more disrespectful to let the product go to waste and rot in a landfill somewhere." It's the same sort of reason why the organization behind making the 'Fairphone' have said "The most environmentally friendly phone is the one in your pocket." Use what you have until it can no longer be used.
I accidently clicked on this video, I didn't even see what it was, I was just scrolling down... But I'm so grateful that I came across you. You are such a beautiful soul. Interesting recipe, wise comments! It's love at first sight = definitely follow!
You are planting a seed for me. I like to cook but I am not vegan. I just love watching your videos because I learn a lot and you make vegan look so good. Where as before I had a view of vegan food being tasteless and boring. I am currently trying to cut back on my meat intake and working more toward vegan. But I will say some vegans...(And people a part of other movements) Give these movements a bad reputation by simply being toxic about it. And it's sad and unproductive. Keep doing the great work , you are such a great cook and I learn a lot from your videos.
If you like to cook you are 3/4ths there. I think it’s much harder to be vegan for those who don’t enjoy the creative process of cooking. I remember foods I loved and want to retreat them. I’ve mastered tuna salad, pimento cheese, and many other childhood favorites.
“You can never be vegan enough” - thank you for voicing it. I no longer say “I’m vegan”, and I tend to just go with “Im plant based” . That’s to avoid criticism as I sometimes feel people looking at me, as if trying to find leather, wool and any other animal products attached to my body. And I still have a few items, purchased years ago, when I was vegetarian. I can’t afford to replace sofas with wool fabric, woolly jumpers, and a a couple of handbags. A few of these are almost 15 years old!!! I don’t purchase loads of things at all, but I feel pressured to do so, to substitute and be “good”. It is tricky, but I feel that I’m better today than I was last year, and next year I will be better than I am today. We will move forward, and we will do better :) . Ps this sandwich looked amazing
I’m not vegan but interested. I have great admiration for you. I do many other humanity plus things. I’m cutting down on the meat. But want to just say “F anyone who gives you grief” if everyone did a little more - what a difference it would make.
I started being vegan for my health in 1990. I evolved to the animals and environment very quickly. I ate so pure of vegan that my body told me, and not very politely if there was something in a food that I didn’t want in there. I learned not to trust restaurants or potlucks, because people lie…. 😢💔. I just take my own. I’m allergic to feathers and wool, so no one is going to trick me with bedding, etc. I like fake meats and fake eggs but I don’t want it to taste like the original. In fact before going vegan I think I became allergic to eggs. Burping rotten eggs is not fun. Meat department stink to high heaven. 🤢🤢 I’m not a preaching vegan. I didn’t become a preaching ex-smoker, I decided not to become a preaching vegan. If they ask, then I might offer insight. But now 80, well, I don’t drink enough water. 🤷♀️🤷♀️😳
@@jerrilynhenson9024 You are an inspiration to me. The more the more I listen and learn, the stronger I feel about this journey. Pls get your daily water intake if you can :) 🤗 x x x

I’ve been a vegetarian since 15 years of age. I have only shown different opinions through the years . I have NEVER pushed a vegetarian agenda ! Thank you for being open and understanding. I always thought it was an 'all or nothing' when it came to being vegan so I never gave it a proper go. I just want to try a little more each day to be more vegetarian/vegan and hopefully one day I will be able to keep it sustainable. 💖
Love your knife skills and you encourage me to add more veggies to my diet but even more, I love your love for your beautiful dog. Thanks for improving my day and my diet
I an 82, my husband 83. I recently discovered Nisha Vora on UA-cam and began making some of her recipes. I was making her Breakfast Cookies this morning and got a bit of cookie batter on my finger. The realization hit me that I could just lick my finger! Vegan food is CLEAN!!! No worries about salmonella from eggs. Your butternut squash is next on my list and tomorrow I will be making up the Beast mixes. So much fun to experiment with new meals 64 years into this marriage. Thank you for sharing your passion and expertise
I hate to squash your positive attitude but youre wrong about vegan food being 'clean' just a warning: uncooked flour can and often is contaminated with bacteria, yes even salmonella. Here is a link with sources if you dont believe me. www.fda.gov/food/buy-store-serve-safe-food/handling-flour-safely-what-you-need-know#:~:text=Flour%20is%20a%20raw%20food,coli). I wouldnt get into the habit of tasting raw dough even if it doesnt contain eggs it doesnt matter. Especially at your age botulism/salmonella would be devastating.
@@onemanfran That's completely false. Salmonella is mostly from bird fecal matter. Eggs literally come out of a bird's butthole. Bird fecal matter will be present with every egg you consume. While birds and rodents crap in fields where grain is grown, the germ is protected by a husk that is removed before milling. While it's not impossible a bit of fecal matter could find its way into a few kernels of the grain, it's exceedingly unlikely it would happen, even more unlikely that it will also contain salmonella, and would still be orders of magnitude less contamination than any egg. And to make things worse, most eggs people buy come from factory farms, and due to these animals being in close proximity, any trace of salmonella will quickly proliferate and cause significant contamination to all eggs in the facility. There's nothing comparable to that kind of disease vector in a grain field.

Great meal fella
Looks amazing!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
I once read "the world needs a lot of imperfect vegans a lot more than it needs a few perfect ones" and that always felt about right.
Truth. Adding to that, the amount of suffering reduced by billions of people replacing 1 meal a week with plant based meat is huge. It might not be a healthy vegan option but it sure would have a meaningful impact.
Oh YESSSS
The world doesn't need any vegans
I'm a strict vegetarian I but I make an effort to be as plant based as possible, supporting vegan businesses where I can find them. My mental health is better when I don't obsess over eating the "right" food (I tend toward a bit of disordered eating otherwise) so I just gently nudge myself to be as plant based as I can. ❤
Frankie is so pretty! I treat my dog that way too. ❤️ Looks great, thanks for the recipe.
The 'never vegan enough' vegans have hurt the movement, your comments are spot on, thank you!
really? lol it was hurt from the start
I googled pescatarian for you:
“A person whose diet is primarily vegetarian but also includes fish.
A person who consumes no animal flesh with the exception of fish or seafood.”
So I did mention the victims, wrapped up in a word that gives more clarification 🤷♂️.

To be more specific, even a vegan isn't necessarily doing anything FOR animals, they just aren't participating in their abuse and murder. Veganism is the neutral position. You would shame murderers, r4p1sts, and racists for 'not being perfect enough or not meeting your standards.' You just don't have the same attitude towards animals, which is how people excuse themselves from eating fish twice a week, like OP.
The only way this madness is going to end is by rejecting all exploitation across the board.
This is the kind of vegans I need in my life. I want to be vegan, I really do. But living in Ghana (not in the capital) with limited resources with anti-vegan husband is a serious challenge and sometimes you just have to compromise. But I'm aiming at less cruelty every day.
You're doing what you can and that's awesome. Keep it up! I'm not perfect either. But I try to reduce suffering where I can
This is what it's all about. You've got to do what you've got to do, but reducing harm and being more compassionate is what matters
How is it less cruel? Plants are just as living beings as animals.

@@irenalovesart4064 Don't get it twisted, you were plant-based, not vegan.
@bastianena I was vegan thanks. There was no plant based anything then. It was vegan or vegetarian
I don’t encourage the vegan diet for people struggling with an eating disorder (or anyone that’s afraid to eat more than 1200 calories)
I’d rather see someone form a healthy relationship with food before they feel ready to commit to veganism.
After all, we don’t need people perpetuating the myth that veganism is unhealthy or unsustainable.
It really irks me when vegans are like “we only eat meat because it feels good!”
NO!

@@CATSFOREVER308You vegans are so deluded.
Thank you. It's astonishing how people forget that no human in history has been persuaded by opening with insulting them.
My dad looked sad like "I thought you guys' favorite food was steak."
And one of them was just like "I dunno what happened but it just feels weird chewing pieces of flesh."
Like that's a breakthrough....
So much more flavor and health us meat eaters have missed out on, and you're saving lives by doing what you do! Thanks for the inspiration ❤

More people need to have those experiences, I think.

Keep on living your beautiful life the way you need to and let no one talk down to you 💕💕
Avocado isn't trendy

It's tricky. So many leather alternatives cause harm to produce and distribute, and they don't last nearly as long. We have to just try our best.

Or...humans are omnivores that are supposed to eat meat

I've always thought that the vegan lifestyle was kind and great for the animals, but personally I can't give up beef :(
i've tried to give up pork and i usually try not to eat it, but it's still very hard for me to give it up even though i know that the animals are dying for it.
do you have any tips as a vegan/vegetarian?
That's called religion. You have teleological goal. You have your theology. That's religion.

Thank you! 💚🌿
@@TRUTHWINSALLWAYS that hit me. Thank you. I appreciate your comment. 💚

And now I'm having to relearn how to cook and your videos have been very helpful on that front!

your videos get better and better.
Awesome sandwich, even more awesome view of the world. Love you dude! 🤘🏻🥦💚🤘🏻
Thank you, Derek!!! Love everything you do!! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous Frankie with us as well!!! She's a lucky girl to have you as her caregiver!!!
Thank you so much but I am the one that is lucky and grateful for her
Vegan here wearing a leather belt! So said Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home”. Blessed be! Thank you for another great video. I’m learning so much from you. Really appreciate it.
Oh man, this just rocks! Thank you. Love, love, love, Frankie.
Me also, came for the food.. staying for the Labrador ❤
Nice looking sandwich! Excellent advice! Thank you!!!
SO GOOD!
The sandwich looks amazing. And totally agree with the rant. We need to inspire more people instead of tear them down!
Thank you for being you Derek . Keep up the good works my friend🙏
Best way around explaining it to friends or in a restaurant = I'm allergic to animal products, period.
Deecasale... Me too, exactly!
Whole plant based, low fat low salt, reversed my autoimmunity 🙂☺️😊
Yippee 👏
What an extraordinary human being! 😊 Your channel is officially my go-to inspo for sandwiches!
Yes, as far as possible and practicable.
100% agree that compassion should extend to your fellow humans.
Rosie you are making things better tho.
It is difficult to watch other people eat animals without a care. But I am glad you are able to stick to it and it inspires me to keep going as a 23 year old that is also surrounded by meat eaters.
@geode9512 Well I wish you well. When you know, you know x
Blessings to you all❤
I thought I was the only wfpb Christian out there! Respect 🙏
@@Matthew_F To you as well! 🙏

You are no longer sad & wilted… coming back to life! With these awesome videos!
Thanks you for sharing that recipe and moreover your vegan journey. I try to be one percent better each day. Love your videos!!
Thanks for sharing your recipes and thoughts ,
Happy holidays to you and your pup and fam and friends
Cheers
We'd get more people on on "team" being enthusiastic, encouraging, kind and NOT militant. I don't know about some folks, but if someone comes at me with what I'm doing wrong and full of judgement and militancy, I'm not going to bend to what they think I should do. Good work & message, Derek!
I've been vegan 34yrs, and I can tell you, those are the folks most likely to quit. They are looking for an entire personality and purpose by doing something that should really only be a small part of how you live should you choose to live a life of compassion.
This is a sandwich that will be on my menu. Love your content. Hey Frankie....
I hollered when you showed the nutrional yeast clip! LOL 🤣🤣🤣
I'm a little late to the party but now I'll watch the video while having dinner. Greetings from Southeast Asia :)
The way I think of it is, "The animal's already dead, it'd be more disrespectful to let the product go to waste and rot in a landfill somewhere." It's the same sort of reason why the organization behind making the 'Fairphone' have said "The most environmentally friendly phone is the one in your pocket."
Use what you have until it can no longer be used.
I accidently clicked on this video, I didn't even see what it was, I was just scrolling down... But I'm so grateful that I came across you. You are such a beautiful soul. Interesting recipe, wise comments! It's love at first sight = definitely follow!
Ridiculous is right. Another amazing video. I'm making this tonight!!
I’ve mastered tuna salad, pimento cheese, and many other childhood favorites.
loved this session Derek - thank you for sharing and your support to the world.
He is right, we can be anything…be kind❤
After over 34 years I think I will always say vegan. ❤❤
@@giovannamonteiro7216 thank you. Yes, I need water. I just don’t like it. 😵💫😢
Thank you for sharing your beautiful message with us Derek. I just discovered you a few days ago, and now you are constantly in my feed and I love your message, it resonates.
I’ve been a vegetarian since 15 years of age. I have only shown different opinions through the years . I have NEVER pushed a vegetarian agenda ! We lead by example: while respecting those who feel they need meat . Some are creating a bad reputation for we who elect not to eat meat. I greatly appreciate your contributions and happily share your vids .

I’m really glad I stumbled across your videos so thank you for sharing some great food ideas and being so authentic. Big pats to Frankie too 🐶
Thank you for being open and understanding. I always thought it was an 'all or nothing' when it came to being vegan so I never gave it a proper go. I just want to try a little more each day to be more vegetarian/vegan and hopefully one day I will be able to keep it sustainable. 💖
Your way is more sustainable.
Thank you for this message. It's spot on. ♥Frankie!!♥
Try Pick Up Limes too! Also, another great vegan food recipe channel :)
I watched an Ann Reardon video which said the risk of salmonella isn't generally from the eggs, but from the flour.
