Thanks mate. I know aye, it was the one thing that frustrated me before I bought it so wanted to help others get a better idea of how it cuts. Happy to hear it was helpful. 😁
@@dellereviews8661 I have thought about that mower for a while and looked at other videos but wasn't convinced. I am going to buy one now based purely on your video, thanks.
I bought one of these about 6 months ago for our holiday home in Denmark (WA) The lawn is buffalo, about 50 square metres, that we had installed just before summer (2020) so it's growing quite well and needs cutting every two weeks, although it's no where near as long as shown in the review above. I have the larger 36V Ryobi mower at home and it's quite good, however this little one has been a big disappointment. It takes almost an hour to mow what is a very small area, because I have to go over it three times! The wheels are very narrow and sink into the grass so you have to raise the cutting height to avoid it bogging down - as noted in the review. The handle is very weak and as you push down on it to raise the front of the mower it flexes all over the place and the grass catcher is hopeless. The bottom of it slopes up quite sharply and the grass clippings accumulate just inside the mouth - nothing gets to the back of the catcher unless you open the top flap and push it back by hand. Fortunately I have 3 batteries and 2 chargers from other Ryobi tools because it takes all of them to get the job done, with associated downtime for recharging. Really, really frustrating. I took it back to Bunnings with the complaint that it wasn't fit for purpose (One of the standard reasons in the Refund Policy for which they will give a refund) Told them it won't cut my lawn as advertised. No where does it say "Not suitable for soft, lush grass!" They refused to give me a refund because "it hasn't broken down" - apparently the staff aren't up to speed with the wording of their own policy, but I did get a store credit. So, bottom line - don't waste your money on this unless your lawn is on compacted soil and is one of the hard varieties - forget it if you have buffalo or other similar soft grasses.
Thank you I am disabled and have terrible trouble getting reliable lawn guys and my back yard is a quarter the size of yours . I’ve wanted one of these for ages so I don’t have to try and pull start a mower because I simply can’t .
Hi Leanne, I'm glad you found this helpful, and yes not having to put the cord is a dream! I recently had to use a petrol mower at the in laws and forgot how much effort it takes just to get started 😅
@@dellereviews8661 hey Delle well I ended up buying the victa battery mower . It had a longer warranty Briggs and Stratton motor and a 5 yr warranty over all plus the catcher was one unit .I love it so much . My son tried it the other day and laughed at how light it was but shocked at how well it cut the lawn. So again thanks for helping me I just felt brave listen to advise and I couldn’t be happy xoxoxo
I’ve used this mower for 3 years now. Yes it works well. My lawn is at knee height due to the heavy rains in eastern australia currently. It can still cut ok. The best technique i found was to pull slowly rather than push. I needed to go thru many more recharges and a spare battery meant I didn’t need to wait for a recharge, but I thought I should put it out there it can do very long grass. Just be ultra patient, take it easy and if you hear the engine struggling, slow down your action so the cuttings don’t bog the machine down
That is great to hear that it could handle the load I have been wondering that with all the rain as we currently in a place with no grass as of this moment. thanks for the feed back
Volts is NOT power. Power is power. Power is V x A. You don't need more voltage you just need a system that can supply more power, that can be voltage OR current. It all depends upon how Ryobi have engineered their batteries and the current you can draw from them.
Great review, were looking at buying one off these, but there are so many conflicting reviews on UTUBE on these mowers, I think we will go for the more powerful, our lawns 30×70Ft so similar to your,s. Blessings Rainham Essex England
Thanks Stephen, glad you found it helpful. They now also have one that can take two 18v batteries giving you longer running time and more power I will try and find a link to it and send it though

This is a great review for what it is and the capability. I was on the fence with this and the 36cm model but my lawn area is a quarter of yours and two nature strips. Unfortunately I spent too long deciding and this model sold out at Bunnings. I'll just have to wait. Thank You.
Thanks Rick, happy you found it helpful. I was in the same spot trying to make up my mind then just bought this one and it is perfect for our place now. But seeing how it actually cuts grass I thought would be helpful for the review as that was more what I was wondering at the time I was thinking of buying.
Nice review 😀 I use a victa robot lawnmower for most of my lawn and use the ryobi 18V brushless HP 40cm to do the perimeter as well as the one+ edger and one+ line trimmer. Saves heaps of time when your flat out with work. One day I will put up a video of it all in action
Hi Davehiphop, They next model up is the 36cm one it has a better handle to adjust the cutting height everything else looks to be the same. It’s not bad cutting to the edge I will always go over the edges with the wiper sniper anyways, so wouldn’t say it’s amazing but dose an ok job.
omg you're setting off my ocd cutting like that haha.. ahh man, I'm tossing up whether to get this or now, very small front and back yards, but uneven in some places and obstacles everywhere, making the corded mower a thing of dread to use... I should just fence everything off and get some goats..
Lol well, Goats will save you a lot more money in the long run. 😂 As for uneven surfaces, they are going to be a problem for every mower I feel, though this one is lite and small enough to get around most things I find. It will be a lot easier to use than a corded mower, as you won't need to worry about if your cord will get stuck on anything.
@@dellereviews8661 Just spent the other morning with the corded mower out the front. it's such a pain. So I fully agree. What I didn't realise is the mower I saw online, within my current budget, was a skin only.. lol no battery. Lucky I didn't go for it. I have to navigate around trees, shrubs, etc, so the cord is definitely a pain. it's a small-ish yard, and you did show that this mower is capable. Vids like this help a bloke out when it comes to seeing what we'll get. Cheers for that, mate !! (I think it's probably harder to buy goats online, tbh haha)
Hello, I’m stuck on something and wondered if you could help. When I unclip the grey handles are the side, my metal handle won’t budge. Even if I unscrew the grey clips all the way off, it doesn’t budge. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Hey Nicole, not quite sure I know what you mean? Are you talking about the main handle that should fold down on top of the mower with the bolts on the sides? What model do you have as well?
Delle Reviews thanks for getting back to me, I have the same model but I’ve realised it’s not a common issue so it will be impossible for you to help me over a comment thread. I’ll try my neighbour’s and see if they can figure it out. I appreciate it though. Thank you :)
I just used the mower for the 1st time today... I don't even know what those grey clips are for lol. Mower works. I'll have a look at the manual ... after I finish mowing lol

That grass angle is so much better, most are directly above which makes depth perception quiet difficult
