- A little tutorial of how to rethread the line on the Ryobi Cordless One+ 18v Line Trimmer.
I hope this helps you figure out how to get the line working again.
Side Note: I found that it is better to buy the line on its own than to buy the Ryobi pack. Unless I just bought the wrong size (very possible that I did) I found that the line is too weak for my liking and the part that goes into the trimmer doesn’t fit.
On behalf of a young 25yr old Woman, thank you for this service! I am doing the lawns and had no clue how to rethread the line, found your video, and off we go!
🎉 cheers!!
My mind went blank when I started to change mine. I guess turning 75 would do that. A great big thank you!!
Thank you very much for your instruction how to retread the line . Your instructions are down to the earth and made me a day
I was getting piss off trying to re-tread the string...But I cone across your video first...I would like to say thanks Delle Reviews...Great!! Video

this video saved me $100+ dollars!! I thought my trimmer was broken because the line kept getting unspooled making a loud clacking noise when the power was on, i was just spooling it the same way rather than going opposite , thank you!!! 🙏🏼
I’m happy you found this helpful happy to help!
This also helped me so much, I was about to sell mine !
Thank you for explaining how to do this simply and throughly! Best instructional video for this model!💯😄👍🏼
Your comment at 1:06 saved me! I was doing it wrong and the string was constantly releasing. Thank you!!
That’s honestly the main reason for making the video! Gave my self a crazy blood bruise from a part of the line flying off and hits my leg
Thanks so much. You gave clear and simple instructions that was easy to follow.
Nice to see other Ladies comments here on you "How to Re-Thread" the weed Wacker. You made it very easy, Thanks much!
Thanks I was on the right track but just good to check I was doing it correctly. Mine kept coming off.
Very Good, So Simple, Great Helping Clip, Thank You !!
Thanks so much exactly what I needed 🙏
Thanks so much it was doing my head in!
Thanks so much! Your video has really helped.
Thank you!!! Great video !!! 👏🏼🏆
Thank you so much for this video.
Jeezus. Thank you. I was having a bugger of a time.
Great video man
Thanks mate very helpful :)
Thanks this was very useful great video i subscribed and liked 👍🏾
Awesome, thanks for this. The direction tip is money!
Glad it was helpful! 😁
I'm using 2mm in mine because my girlfriend had 2 unused rolls of it... Seems to work heaps better than the 1.6 it came with. I'm also finding the battery doesn't get as hot, so that implies it's actually less stressful to the motor. Though I do run on low speed almost 100% of the time, so that would help I assume.
Thank you that was very helpful
Glad it helped
Good video, thank you. But, cannot figure out how to feed it into the guard, so it can be cut
Thank you!
Thank you 🙏 This is also why youtube is important to us females. 😄
Thanks so much!
I'm so stupid. UA-cam's been here all along... I've been wasting line for YEARS!
Not stupid just normal like the rest of us 😅
legend! cheers bro
Thank you for the video would you let me know which model of this Trimmer please ? Currently tgere are one coming in with 18v 2.0ah for $149 and the other one with 5.0ah $229 and skin only $119. I am so confuse please help if you buy the from Bunnings. Thank you so much 🙏
Hi Maria,
So first the skin only is the trimmer and no battery so if you have a ryobi battery at home this is what you would get.
The battery size is what you are seeing when it says 2.0ah 5.0ah and so on bigger the number bigger the battery and longer the running time to simplify it for you.
They’re two 18v models that they have for sale at the moment and the main difference between the two is one you will need to turn the whole machine around to do the edges.
The other one is like the one you see in this video and you can twist the middle bar and turn the cutting line.
I would tend towards the bigger battery if you are only getting the trimmer and done have a battery at home, though I bought the skin only as I had already got the ryobi mower with the battery.
Hopefully this is helpful 😊
@@dellereviews8661 Thank you so much !
i got a pony so i would not have to usue a trimmer.. .090 works on the 18+ hp lasts longer.. thanks
Thanks
Pretty sure Ryobi also sell pre-wound spools you can just swap out in a few seconds to make it even easier too.
They do, but they cost heaps ( pack of three) for the shitty thin blue line that constantly breaks😂😂
If you lose the little spring in the feeder (which I have done regularly) use one out of an old biro
The spring that came with the unit seems quite flimsy. I found that when operating the unit, the auto feed slider gets stuck and doesn't release as it should and this, to me, is one of the reasons I can't get the unit to auto feed as it should. Did you achieve a better result with the biro spring?
Thank you so much
No worries hope you found it helpful
Thx bro
A1 video
I just got one and I'm not a fan of how easy it might be to unnecessarily advance the line with the trigger. Is there a way to make sure it won't advance? It isn't very hard to open and manually advance it. Maybe if I hook it into more notches it won't advance accidentally?
The whole idea of the clipping the line into one of the little notches is to stop the line from unwinding on the spool whilst you are feeding the line through the hole as shown in the video. Once the line is fed through the hole then place the spool over the shaft, unpin the line from the little notch, push the spool fully onto the shaft then replace the cap. Leaving the line hooked into one of the notches will anchor the line and it won't advance at all which is not what you want to happen.
@@Mike-li5yq That's the thing. I Don't want it to advance, unnecessarily wasting line. There's a diamond-shaped fixed-line head for this model of trimmer, but apparently its line-securing pins break extremely easily.
If it’s coming out a lot you where probably winding it the wrong direction. That’s what I did at one point until I found out how to wind it correctly. When I didn’t wind it correctly, the line would fly out and cut off heaps of extra line and one flung off and gave me a mad blood bruise 😅. If you follow this video let me know if you have the same problem
It's so tight because that head is designed for 1.6mm line, but good instruction regardless!
Thanks Andrew, I actually did know that. I will try the 1.6mm next time, I did try a thinker line and it was rubbish didn't cut off correctly ended up with a big chunk hitting my leg no fun 😅
thank you😊
All good happy it helped
Thanks.
No worries!
You should be Australian if the Year!!!
Dose that come with a reward 🤣
I just put 2 mm line in mine because I want to finish everything. Will it stuff up the unit with 2 mm? Any reply appreciated cheers. 🙂👍👍
According to another Ryobi video using a thicker line puts "undue stress" on the motor fwiw.
@@watching99134 undue stress on the motor? As anR/C hobby enthusiast. Motor you can find out of a clapped out drill ( cordless ryobi ( for example) and just replace if you have to! I boosted the ryobi cordless leaf blowerthay way. Brushed motor is easy. Cheers.
Hi Dragan, since I have had it I have used the 2mm after the original line ran out and I have had no problems I am yet to try the 1.6mm line as that is what it is meant to use I have recently found out. Though I can tell you that anything thinker then 2mm will not work. It docent cut off and feed out correctly and can be quite dangerous. I ended up having a big chunk fly off punching my leg. I was wearing shorts that didn't help but regardless I wouldn't recommend it.
@@dellereviews8661 hi. I found a vid. In which if you put the 2mm line in water? It becomes stronger, less stiff and more pliable. I tried that. You can feel the difference in your hands as your feeding the line in. Cheers
@@dragan3290 I've tried 1.6mm and 2mm lines but they don't advance at all. The unit works for a few seconds then the lines snap where the line pokes out from the spool. Can't work out why this happens.
Hi.
My butter chicken sauce is too thick.
How can i reduce.
Thanks
Well depends.. if you are reducing it, that will make it thinker. So if you don’t what it thick then add some more water and don’t reduce it as long 😁
I hope this. Works . I can't stand this trimner. Keeps feeding, and it cuts of pieces that fly and almost got my eye plenty and the pieces have cut me
I did that and it keep jamming up I have to keep manually pulling the sting.
When your winding it on you will need to be careful that you don’t do it to tightly. I have had this happen to me as well and loosened the cable and made a huge difference. Hopefully that works for you as well.
Did you forgot to say that you should cut off a length of three meters to wind onto the spool.
I personally didn’t measure. So I’m not to sure how much I used. I just eye ball it 😅
i wonder how many of us have been doing this wrong for years, having to manual feed it every 5 seconds smh
Don’t buy Saxon branded spools Ryobi ones are better quality yet more expensive
No music while you’re talking please, otherwise good info
If you can’t differentiate between his voice and the music, you need to go get your hearing tested
Musically
What an odd request.
I thought the video was awesome! Super clear instructions, Audio was perfect all around. I’ve seen videos where the music was too loud, distracting, etc. This was not one of those.
Horrible weed eater I followed this video exactly and my string just doesn’t want to Come out. Cut one piece of grass and the string breaks and doesn’t replace itself. And it was the string that came with it. I dunno what I’m doing wrong
The only thing that you might be doing is winding it to tightly? I did that and I found the thread would get stuck to its self.
was gonna buy this untill i seen the video and discoverd the cord on ly comes out one side.... wtf
Thays the down side of this thing AND I have edger one the battery is strong when fully charges then dies down
Look I thought the same to start before buying it but for coming out of one side though it cuts pretty well for what it is
Too thick wire
Thank you!
