Siyang Qiu not an issue whatsoever lmao the 625 is a beast on my Moto z play. no lag. and amazing battery life? never buying these supposed "flagships" again
Its a great phone. It is meant to be a busy man's device who uses the phone not for gaming and media but for productivity purposes and getting things done..and i think it excels at that.
This isn't one of those phones that's trying to max out the spec sheet. And I think that's fine. This is a great enterprise option and I'm sure business types will love it.
I personally love the design. And a 3505mAh battery, powering a 4.5 inch display and a Snapdragon 625? The battery life is gonna be amazing when I pick one up lol
This device actually seems pretty darn good. Sure, for less money a 3T will run circles around the KeyOne when pushed to the limit, OnePlus has an amazing phone right there, but what it loses in raw power it makes up for with relatively long battery life on a design that looks, in my honest opinion, rugged yet elegant at the same time. The 3T is not ugly by any means, however it does seem a tad plain when compared to the KeyOne. Again, its just my opinion, feel free to disagree ^^
The 3T comparison is fair. It's awesome that you have a choice. I just like the battery life on this phone. I spent a day explicitly trying to kill it and failed ^JR
warms my heart to see bb out again.. My z10 served it's last day recently and I was praying for bb to bring out another and here you are my angel.. I'm so gonna get you
Looking forward for this phone. I am hoping this will be available to the Philippines as soon as possible. I wanna have a smartphone that lasts longer. Kudos to Blackberry! Nice Review, avid fan of Pocketnow and JR here. HAHA
Seriously why do we even need thinner phones it is really stupid for phone manufacturer's to go thinner give me a bulky phone like the nokia n95 with a big battery/screen and i will gladly buy it! but really why go any thinner!!!???
Stephan wahlen- said no iPhone, galaxy user ever.. It's not over priced by any means as the touch sensitive keyboard alone cost a lot but still people want everything free from blackberry as if they're doing the company a favor by buying their products.
It's laughable to think that people justify buying a 700 to 800 dollar phone just to play games and watch youtube. Maybe specs 😭😭😭 yet don't see the amazing qualities of this device, the practicality of it. It's amazing beyond what I can imagine. My only beef with my classic was GPS but now I have this beauty to hold me over for the next 5 years.
Brian Webster Because in theory you maybe would get the best of both worlds, speed and muscle memory. I used to work at the Home Depot and I knew a girl who could text with her phone hidden in her apron without looking at it using physical keys because we were not supposed to have our phones on the floor back then. She couldn't do that with a virutal keyboard but she was the fastest texter I have ever see using a virtual keyboard though. So you probably could be blazing fast and accurate that with a physical keyboard that you only had to touch instead of having to press it. Like Stevie Wonder can play a piano using physical keys but more than likely couldn't do that on a virtual one.
battery life is one of the main advantages and i have used a blackberry keyboard for more than seven years and its a bliss to use it. the curves on the keys allows the user to type without the need to have a look on the keyboard like we do with the touch keyboard.
I remember back in the day where everyone I mostly knew had a BlackBerry phone. Good times, I owned the BlackBerry Storm I liked it but many people disliked it. Then Android came and you could play all these games and was pretty quick so I had to leave the BlackBerry world ='(.
Mark Cerrillo I have it, and i can tell you get it. It's amazing! If you have a tablet you won't miss media much. I play 8ball pool on mine and castle clash just fine for when you're place when a little gaming or youtube video is necessary.
Amazing review! But I'm still in major doubt here :( My Xperia is on its last days and I'm about to buy a new phone (Blackberry, 'cause I really miss physical keys), but I can't decide between Priv and Keyone :( Priv currently costs €350 while Keyone is releasing for €600, almost the double of that! Do you think I'll be ok with a priv? I'm only interested in email, whatsapp and such, not a mobile gamer nor anything... Thanks in advance!
A bit late to the party but have just purchased this device. It's amazing has improved my experience with a smartphone and the qwerty keyboard is a dream to use much more accurate than the traditional glass keypad. Very good camera for taking snaps in the go. Can't rate this phone highly enough.
this is an awesome phone, just wait for the update to make it faster. The keyboard is amazing and the cam as well, it's a unique device and am buying. Battery is epic, multi screen typing experience cannot be found on other device, same for the one screen typing even...
That lag you're talking about happens on home screen because of long-press shortcut. It waits for a bit to be sure if the key has been pressed for shortcut or search, than applies it.
Sad to hear that it's still laggy. Even tho the review implied the phone is "kind of laggy", I'm just gonna go ahead and interpret that as just laggy because they said the same thing about the Priv and my Priv is laggy AF.
Honestly mate. just activate shortpress shortcuts and add a shortpress shortcut for the device search you deem so important. it doesn't lag when you navigate to it. the keyboard is similar to a q10, bettet than a bold, just takes time to get used to. I came from the passport se and literally had to pickup a q10 to realise it feels the same.
I only had to put my Q10 away because all of the communication I was doing began to happen on apps that weren't supported in the Android 4.3 framework of BB10. It was such a shame, relearning a virtual keyboard was pitiful. I could only take solace in knowing that BlackBerry also had an excellent virtual keyboard carried to Android from their Z10 and Z30. I still use the Blackberry Keyboard on my Note Edge currently, but nothing compares to real keys. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one.
If the capacitive keys are gonna be there all the time, why didn't they make them physical keys to prevent accidental presses? theres a literal full keyboard bellow them. Would 3 more keys really be a problem for them?
I'm liking the Keyone for sure. Former BlackBerry user 2008, but I have to ask.... is the surface tablet ask good as everyone is saying it is? Is it your laptop replacement?
Now that Blackberry is using android instead of BB10, is it possible to read, write and send emails offline with the Blackberry Hub? I'm looking to buy this phone, but if it's like Gmail where you have to be connected to the internet all the time, then it loses one of its' key features.
do the security features that BB is known for apply to this new model? its a great looking phone, and like you said will probably get a good following from the hardcore professionals
Way better design than the Q10! The screen on the Q10 was just too small... I ended up using the Z10 most of the time even though I loved the keyboard. Going to have to pick this one up!
Granted this is an old review but still a good one and appropriate today. One point of contention: BBM is still a solid message app that constantly adds features! Try it!
Okay guys! For my new phone, I've narrowed it down between the Blackberry KEYone, the Motorola Z Play with the physical keyboard Moto Mod and the Verizon Wireless version of the Kyocera Duraforce Pro. I love the Duraforce Pro's excellent durability and wireless charging, and the sapphire display from the Verizon version is a huge plus, but I also love the versatility of the physical keyboard. Meanwhile, I really like the Z Play's near-stock unassuming awesomeness (similar to the said Duraforce Pro from what I hear) but I'm curious of the moto mod will protect the fragile glass back. Considering the good detail on the KEYone, I might consider it, but how is the exposed keyboard compared to the horizontal slider style keyboard, like the moto mod as well as the Priv, LG Enact and the Droid Series?
For searching click once any key, and after that type your searching word. Its faster, its works on my PRIV so should also work on KEYone :) Plus on the keyboard if you tap it twice on website you have a cursor.
Great review Jaime. I find the battery life and the security of the BB to be great features! But sadly not enough to say bye to my Galaxy! Solid device from BB and I'm sure they are going to come back really strong
Dear Pocketnow, Thank you very much for your informative posting. I have a quick question. Between Nokia 8 & Keyone what would you choose to go for. If you are looking for a phone thats professional with a business look. I appreciate your honest comment. Regards
I have been and always will be a blackberry fan I have tried all sorts of phones in my opinion, currently have a priv and looking at a keyone maybe the 2. Beats the he'll out of an I phone you even sneeze on those and the screen cracks
I wish Blackberry would bring out a new Bold 9700 with modern hardware, would be awesome for those of us who just want to communicate and don't use our phones to watch films or play games /drool
Very neat review. Not sure how biased you are, but overall it looks like a great phone. Too bulky for some, but definitely a good comeback from BB. Cheers
For me, the Priv is the best of both worlds: the great BlackBerry software keyboard when I needed it, and a hardware keyboard when I wanted it. I just wish it had the camera and battery life of the KeyOne.
Aaaaaaaand now I'm the proud owner of a KeyOne! No regrets: runs smoother (and cooler!) than my Priv, battery lasts RIDICULOUSLY longer, it's better-made, keyboard and camera are much better, ships with Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box, and still gets regular security updates from BlackBerry. Thrilled.
Actually that lag is a programmed, it’s an algorithm that is checking if you did a short or long press on the keyboard, part of the shortcut functionality.
I was waiting for This Device since it was released and wish to keep this phone I loved the design it looked to me similar to my old Sony P1 and for the love of keyboard I wish to have it though I expected bit more on the hardware specs in terms of RAM and Processor to make this device long lasting
Nickelbacks new album coming out in June, Gorillaz album already out, the amount of amazing films and now this badass phone, this year just keeps getting better and better every day. I'm definitely gonna get this phone on my next upgrade 👍🏻
Dat intro game.
#THICC
MrMobile [Michael Fisher] oh hello mr Fisher!!
Huge compliment coming from the intro king himself 😉
That's you!
Haha, means a lot coming from the intro King himself. And hey, remember I told you I'd need that Q10 one day ;-) ^JR
The phone actually looks pretty good
it look awful
true, it does look good
Mega Aciej Especially when compared with actual phones, such as the S8
Siyang Qiu not an issue whatsoever lmao the 625 is a beast on my Moto z play. no lag. and amazing battery life? never buying these supposed "flagships" again
Its a great phone. It is meant to be a busy man's device who uses the phone not for gaming and media but for productivity purposes and getting things done..and i think it excels at that.
siddharth singh exactly but people keep dragging down by comparing it with phones that aren't meant for such things.
Yeah...not everyone is going to buy it and it is not meant to be bought by everyone.
>excels at that
is that a pun lol
Now it is.
siddharth singh bruh. all phones can be used for that
This isn't one of those phones that's trying to max out the spec sheet. And I think that's fine. This is a great enterprise option and I'm sure business types will love it.
I personally love the design. And a 3505mAh battery, powering a 4.5 inch display and a Snapdragon 625? The battery life is gonna be amazing when I pick one up lol
That industrial look is refreshing and eye catching 👌
This device actually seems pretty darn good. Sure, for less money a 3T will run circles around the KeyOne when pushed to the limit, OnePlus has an amazing phone right there, but what it loses in raw power it makes up for with relatively long battery life on a design that looks, in my honest opinion, rugged yet elegant at the same time. It felt like Ive seen this comment before.... weird dejavu
Raggedy Exynos I commented something similar on Jaime's unboxing video if my memory's correct. Can't exactly recall though, my apologies ^^"
The 3T comparison is fair. It's awesome that you have a choice. I just like the battery life on this phone. I spent a day explicitly trying to kill it and failed ^JR
The phone has plenty of power. Haven't had any moments where I feel like it can't handle what I throw at it
warms my heart to see bb out again.. My z10 served it's last day recently and I was praying for bb to bring out another and here you are my angel.. I'm so gonna get you
cocoapyol are u liking it?😁
I went for the s7 edge a year ago just because of the bigger battery.manufacturers need to stop going thin and light and put bigger batteries.
They should give us a battery that can last almost the whole day with heavy use. Or a super quick charge within 30 mins
WTF_Videos s8 plus pretty much
I don't know why but I find that phone really attractive...
Since when is a "blue light filter" an essential feature? A lot of people don't even know they have one on their phone.
This is exactly how I imagined smartphones of the future to look like back in the naughts!
Abdulhkeem Alhadhrami jeans and pockets
I'm with you on that. I'm almost happy for the cheap cases on my phones, they are just too damn thin and mostly slippery on top.
Amen
If the price drops in a few month, ill be buying it!
Stephan wahlen- said no iPhone, galaxy user ever.. It's not over priced by any means as the touch sensitive keyboard alone cost a lot but still people want everything free from blackberry as if they're doing the company a favor by buying their products.
not just impressed, in love
Pocketnow, MrMobile and Android Authority uploaded a review of that phone at the same tile o_O"
HCHM same thing happened with the s8. I wonder if there is some rule we don't know about
The embargo has been lifted. That's why everybody is releasing their reviews at once.
It's when the embargo is lifted, pretty standard procedure when it comes to new products.
Yes, it's called review embargo.
Don't you just love embargo time ^JR
It's laughable to think that people justify buying a 700 to 800 dollar phone just to play games and watch youtube. Did it hold you over for 5 years lol
Man you are a legend in reviewing technology.
I even watch your videos to hear your voice even when I am not interested in the device. :)
I kinda miss the old Blackberry software, before OS 10. Maybe it's just nostalgia..
The Key One is tickling my inner blackberry again. First time in years. Favorite phone maker ever!
sorry had to pause and comment this:
Why oh why would you ask for the PHYSICAL keys to not require a full press to type a letter?
Brian Webster Because in theory you maybe would get the best of both worlds, speed and muscle memory. I used to work at the Home Depot and I knew a girl who could text with her phone hidden in her apron without looking at it using physical keys because we were not supposed to have our phones on the floor back then. Like Stevie Wonder can play a piano using physical keys but more than likely couldn't do that on a virtual one.
Christopher Thomas he may be capable of playing a virtual one too, you don't know!
One of the better K1 reviews out there. Thank you!
who else came just to listen him pronounce his name😂😂
Merged Zamasu lol meeee
He talks almost too slow for most of the video, but with his name and the links at the end it's in fast forward I have no idea what he says
lol
I totally feel you. Couldnt tell if he has doing it on purpose with his name or if it was scrambled. Nice review though.
Pranjal ! 😂😂😂😂😂
Great review as usual Jiame. Your intros are always top notch and each segment flowed well.
battery life is one of the main advantages and i have used a blackberry keyboard for more than seven years and its a bliss to use it.
the curves on the keys allows the user to type without the need to have a look on the keyboard like we do with the touch keyboard.

Actually your idea of turning the clicky keyboard into a capacitive one is quite brilliant. Hopefully Blackberry hear this
Amazing review! But I'm still in major doubt here :(

im sorry i honestly could not catch your name the 10 times you said it. haimaiammidada?
cakesoncups Jaime Rivera
so basically camera, battery and keyboard is what's best about this blackberry
احلا جوال
Jaime, I absolutely love your phone reviews! All the info you need while keeping is relatively short, couldn't ask for more :)
A bit late to the party but have just purchased this device.
It's amazing has improved my experience with a smartphone and the qwerty keyboard is a dream to use much more accurate than the traditional glass keypad.
Very good camera for taking snaps in the go. Can't rate this phone highly enough.

Thanks for the review. Thinking about giving the BlackBerry KEYone a try. Pictures of the BlackBerry Q10 brought back memories.
Sad to hear that it's still laggy. Even tho the review implied the phone is "kind of laggy", I'm just gonna go ahead and interpret that as just laggy because they said the same thing about the Priv and my Priv is laggy AF.

impressed. happy with my Priv for now but later this year I'll move to one of these. my future with BlackBerry remains secure.
The best reviewer on UA-cam right here!!
Great review! As always! After so many years, I am almost tempted in giving RIM a chance!
I only had to put my Q10 away because all of the communication I was doing began to happen on apps that weren't supported in the Android 4.3 framework of BB10. I am going to buy this on Saturday!
Another great video Jaime!! slick and detailed review as expected.👍✌
If the capacitive keys are gonna be there all the time, why didn't they make them physical keys to prevent accidental presses? theres a literal full keyboard bellow them. Would 3 more keys really be a problem for them?
Glad to see that BlackBerry is differentiating
Thank you Pocketnow for such awesome videos :)
Thanks bud! ^JR
I'm liking the Keyone for sure. Former BlackBerry user 2008, but I have to ask.... is the surface tablet ask good as everyone is saying it is? Is it your laptop replacement?
Imagine the ultimate productivity duo - a KeyOne and a Note 8. Also I like the idea of pairing up a KeyOne with a Sony Xperia XZ.
Can you make a comparison video with Blackberry Priv?
This phone looks so awesome. I can't wait to get mine.
Jaime.. did u get good reception and was there any bleeding issues om the keyboard? awesome work as usual
I've had mine for 2 days and i'm loving it!
Now that Blackberry is using android instead of BB10, is it possible to read, write and send emails offline with the Blackberry Hub? I'm looking to buy this phone, but if it's like Gmail where you have to be connected to the internet all the time, then it loses one of its' key features.
Great review, love the intro!!
This would be awesome if they made a call and end call button with this phone
Love how different it is. And the keyboard is very useful with the scrolling, fingerprint sensor
This is how you prepare a review: it includes everything that the USER wants, presented with both pros AND cons.
8:10 that video is shockingly bad! I can't find the "good quality" that Jaime was talking about...
Mr Rivera should change your name to Mr REVIEW!!! Amazing as always!!
do the security features that BB is known for apply to this new model? its a great looking phone, and like you said will probably get a good following from the hardcore professionals
Can you actually use BBM? Does it still come with a pin? I still remember the days of pinstack lol
Isn't the Priv still faster than this+cheaper+better screen for stuff when you aren't typing?
Way better design than the Q10! The screen on the Q10 was just too small... I ended up using the Z10 most of the time even though I loved the keyboard. Going to have to pick this one up!
Any chance of audio review? KEYone looks like my next phone if HTC 11 fails to deliver 3.5mm jack
Will always love my Blackberry 9700 and physical keyboard
Granted this is an old review but still a good one and appropriate today. One point of contention: BBM is still a solid message app that constantly adds features! Try it!

The Blackberry Keyone limted edition is out in India only. The special edition has 64gb of internal storage and 4GB of Ram. Please test that phone out
Great review as always.
Will the keyone work with the playbook after all these years?
Since you can't root this phone, is there a way to remove a lot of the apps you would not use ?
I have a first generation BlackBerry, when charged the red light flashes 4 pulses. Unable to stop it or have unit turn on. What can I try?
Great review Jaime. I find the battery life and the security of the BB to be great features! But sadly not enough to say bye to my Galaxy! Solid device from BB and I'm sure they are going to come back really strong
Did you forget to mention the fingerprint scanner or have I completely lost the ability too concentrate?
I still miss my blackberry Q10 I might get one just for work
Dear Pocketnow,
Thank you very much for your informative posting. I have a quick question.
Between Nokia 8 & Keyone what would you choose to go for. If you are looking for a phone thats professional with a business look.
I appreciate your honest comment.
Regards
I got a blackberry classic since 2015. Do you think it’s time for me to upgrade?
Kinda wish it would be a tad smaller for better one hand performance. It seems very top-heavy to me. Regardless, I think I'll buy it anyway
I own this phone and it is incredible definetly recommend it
im a heavy Media consumer and i dont notice the slighty smaller screen its a wrong to say its not for media consumption
Iphone 7 i have ..should i change to bb keyone?
I have been and always will be a blackberry fan I have tried all sorts of phones in my opinion, currently have a priv and looking at a keyone maybe the 2. Beats the he'll out of an I phone you even sneeze on those and the screen cracks
Any chance this phone might come to Verizon Wireless?
Could you do a side by side review with the priv
I wish Blackberry would bring out a new Bold 9700 with modern hardware, would be awesome for those of us who just want to communicate and don't use our phones to watch films or play games /drool
Ubersonic i want the classic so bad becausr i just use my phone for texting, and internet.
Thrilled.
I like it...I love it...please do a security review as I'm curious what, if any, compromises were made going over to android.
Excellent review!!Wish I could get one for my dad!!!
that lag when you start typing from your home screen is a big drawback
Prateek Choudhary something that would be ironed out through software updates, I'm sure. But this is also a pre-production unit...
Andrew Coutts I feel is not there yet but are getting there. my next phone probably will be a blackberry.
Actually that lag is a programmed, it’s an algorithm that is checking if you did a short or long press on the keyboard, part of the shortcut functionality.
I'd like to use it as a backup when i'm traveling but not as a daily driver.
Does the keyboard support all of languages that Android's default keyboard works with? Will I be able to type Japanese with romaji?
Will this come to Verizon, that is the question.
Will this be on Verizon?
I was waiting for This Device since it was released and wish to keep this phone
I loved the design it looked to me similar to my old Sony P1 and for the love of keyboard I wish to have it
though I expected bit more on the hardware specs in terms of RAM and Processor to make this device long lasting
Will they ever give us a Blackberry Classic Android edition??? Pretty Please????
Nickelbacks new album coming out in June, Gorillaz album already out, the amount of amazing films and now this badass phone, this year just keeps getting better and better every day. I'm definitely gonna get this phone on my next upgrade 👍🏻
I always wonder how the buttons hold up after time?
