    really hoping for priv 2 this summer. i can't understand people that hate a brand just because. there is still a market for these type of phones and i am a part of that market. i use my phone for strictly business when i can't use my laptop. blackberry caters to that in the best ways.

      No priv plans for 2018, I work for blackberry TCL tech support and we have 3 devices, Athena, Luna and Uni (Minerva)
      Athena being the Keyone's successor, imagine a Motion with a Keyboard.
      Luna is meant to be a "Entry level" BlackBerry, meant to be for those who want all the BlackBerry security without the BlackBerry price point. Kinda like the successor to the BlackBerry Aurora.
      Uni (Minerva) is the successor to the Motion. Not much is know about this device yet... Other than its a full screen device.

      David Ponce Maybe TCL hires teenagers, but I highly doubt they would permit anyone to break any NDAs. So nice try, but I don't buy it. Especially seeing how there was already a recent patent filed for a device nearly identical to the PRIV.

    I've had the KEYone for just over 6 months now, it still delivers multiple day battery life, the typing experience is second to none, and the shortcuts and customization is every bit as useful and fun as I could have hoped for. I will definitely be upgrading to another blackberry in the future after I've run this one into the ground.

    This is the phone I'm looking for. Oh gosh the keyboard brings back soooooo much memory. the KEYone is now the second place in my heart and the Razer Phone is the first for the best smartphone speaker. It's hard for a Apple fan to say this, but nowadays android have some really good phones.

    I've missed blackberry so much....there is nothing like having real buttons to press. Touchscreens are torturous to use, and their popularity blows my mind. When I walked into my sprint store for an upgrade today, I immediately gravitated to the keyone. When the associate said it is the only phone in the store with a physical keyboard and that she only has one left, I jumped on it. Couldn't be happier.

    Love my KEYone! For the KEYtwo, I'd like an OLED screen, incorporating on-screen navigation buttons (the current capacitive buttons are a travesty), a better speaker (the current one sucks), more RAM, same great battery life. With those improvements, I'd be thrilled - everything else I enjoy!

    Juan Carlos, I have to say it was a great review, but I NEVER want to see or have a BlackBerry without the convenience key. It has always been integral to the Swiss Army Knife of mobile devices. Earlier on at their apex, they had TWO convenience keys. Now they've made things a lot easier with the ability to program multiple profiles/apps to the convenience keys on the Motion and KEYone. Also, the Productivity Tab on screen serves well as the replacement to the secondary convenience key of old.
    They've gotta be there. It's part of the BlackBerry soul.

    what everyone forget to say is a physical keyboard allows you to touch the key and makes sure its the right BEFORE it enter. It's so good it makes autocorrect obsolete. Touchscreen enters the key, and you find out you press the worn key after the fact.

    • @KBoon
      @KBoon 4 роки тому

      And the fact that autocorrect even exists is proof that touchscreens are inaccurate by design

    Great video. There needs to be some IP rating. There also needs to be on screen buttons that hide . Bump up the chip. Increase the body dimensions just a little bit. Switch the location of the convenience key and power button. Give the next Keyone a bigger battery.

      @JohnSmith-zg2id 6 років тому +1

      I don't think we'll see IP ratings with the physical keyboard phones. The all-touchscreen Motion has IP67. With a physical keyboard, there's too many places where the protection could fail (i.e. 30 keys).

    You got all of it right! Especially the power button and the convience button. As I have already fed back a few times to blackberry, I would switch the two. Mounting the phone was a pain but eventually I mastered it. Though if the power button and convenience key were switched...and both on the right side (volume rocker and...now power button) moved up an inch, that would work perfectly for me. Battery life is competition-less thanks to the chip set and the keyboard is even better than I had on HTC Desire Z. I love the phone!

    I used to have htc Desire and Nokia Lumia 925. I have to say, in my opinion, phones were much more interesting back in the day. Of course, the performance has significantly improved. But the feel is just as important. I have an iPhone 7 now, which works very well, takes great photos, has acceptable battery life and does pretty much everything I would expect it to. But it’s so boring.

    • @johnduncan5117

      Kirill Holstov i had the Lumia 925 and I loved it. A lot of character and Windows Phone had its charm. Now on an LG G6 which is obviously a great phone but although I never owned one the G4 was so much more enticing. Someone said all phones had to to be glass and aluminium and the result is every phone is the same.

      No mattter the Mobile Windows shenanigans: If I hadn't smashed my 925's screen (can't access a password-locked Microsoft phone via trusted Microsoft PC connection - WHAT!?!?) I wouldn't have abandoned it until the death of its battery, at least.

      I remember the lumia 920 and the N9, the N9 was like a true unicorn while the 920(I miss it so much), had a great display for it's time, easily the best constructed plastic phone ever made, had character in it's looks and especially towards it's back which was so good looking, with the camera being near the middle of the frame, so no accidental hand covers, it also had wireless charging and to top it all off, great performance with just a dual core snapdragon processor.

    I would agree with your points. I've been a daily user of a KeyOne for a few months now. It does a good job. It is a bit laggy, and I wish they'd put out an update to allow the option to remap keys. For instance, I find that the left-shift and the Alt keys are in the wrong place - I'd like to switch their functions. Also, I'd prefer to have another line of numbers above the letters. Having to use Alt for numbers is a hassle. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.

    For the capacitive buttons issue, they could fix that in software, by ignoring a tap on them when you swipe from the keyboard. It is like how some touch pads can have a scroll section but ignore the scroll if you swipe from outside of the gesture region. On a smartphone, the capacitive regions can have the same accuracy as the main screen, since many companies simply extend the digitizer down by a few millimeters.

    I was forced to move to Android this year after WhatsApp finally stopped working on BB10 and I need it for work. The thing I miss the most is the HUB, and even though its available on Android its nowhere near what it was on BB10. I really wish that BB can do more to bringing it closer to the BB10 experience. I suspect Android OS will switch towards a more gesture based OS after the iPhone X release and when it happens, BB can probably use the experience of making BB10 and make one hell of a UI for Android.

    My 2 biggest issues for the KeyOne are the word selection on the capacitive touch screens. Somehow the words I swipe up to choose somehow are not the words entered into the text message. I recently had to use the Passport to replace the screen that popped off. I had to get a new Key One under warranty. The Passport was much easier to use and more accurate. Second, is the Hub Integration. I still get text in the hub and selecting the message takes you to the previous text in the message screen. That is really annoying. But great phone. Glad to have it.

    I never had a BlackBerry when they were at peak dominance but I had a lg mytouch and I've always been a big fan of keyboards on phones so I tried the blackberry keyone after having iPhones 5-7. now I know i will never go back to using any other phone. i love my keyone! its perfect for me cause I dont really use all that many apps and I like to keep my home screen simple so the function to have shortcuts on the keyboard is amazing for me. the only complain I do have with it is the camera. coming from iPhone I was spoiled with great camera quality. the camera it has isn't terrible, but it definetly be better. can't wait to see what the keytwo will bring to the table.

    I would love to see how they fix the capacitive button issue. I tried the keyboard cover for the s8 and had a similar problem with the home button at the bottom of the keyboard. I really wanted a BlackBerry but the price was just too high for me when I compared the KeyOne to the s8 last summer (Samsung ran some killer sales).

    And this keyboard is a pleasure to use, every feature it offers is well thought.

    I hope there will be a slider BB key two with the latest snapdragon, higher ram, better camera, and water proofing. The priv design is actually quite nice.

    Still absolutely in love with my KEYone. The keyboard shortcuts as you mentioned are a GAME-CHANGER and I use them every day. The battery life remains epic... seeing how everyone scrambles to charge around me, I'll never go to a top-range processor again; battery life has just become something I demand from my next phone. I disagree with Juan about the convenience key, though. I use mine for the flashlight and it's great because the phone does not need to be unlocked in order to use it. Try it! I also kinda want an extra GB of RAM.
    If the KEYtwo comes along, I will happily snap it up to show my support. This is easily the best smartphone I've ever owned... and I've owned many dating back to the Palm Treo 650!

    Love this review, it was honest, totally accurate and I couldn't agree more. KeyONE is my daily driver and wouldn't trade it for anything else. Thanks!

    I bought the Galaxy S7 with a Samsung-branded keyboard case/attachment for about $65. When not in use, the keyboard can be removed and attached to the back of the phone. Once I got into the habit of attaching the keyboard before typing out a long message, I realized just how much slower and error prone my virtual keyboard typing was. Only thing keeping me from picking up the KeyOne is the camera (S7 camera is very good, BB cameras have always been an afterthought).

    A really great video and spot on with the wanted upgrades with the camera and the spacing between the keyboard and the navigation buttons. The two things I would add is make the KeyTwo a quarter inch wider and a half inch taller, and make it with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory. I love my KeyOne and definitely would love to see an upgrade to those specs for the KeyTwo.

    I’d like to see an improvement in the quality of the keyboard. It isn’t up to the same quality as that on my Q10. I go along with your suggestions.

    What I would like to see is a modernized throwback to the Bold line of BBs. Give us that raised, smile pattern keyboard and track pad. Allow options for those that aren't media consumers or just don't want to carry something the size of a roofing tile in their pockets. Like a cross between the Bold 9900 and the BB Classic.
    An IP rating will be tricky, considering it's a hardware keyboard phone. You'll probably get a IP 45 at best. Looks like the BB Motion will be the alternative to those who want a more rugged product.

    BlackBerry design and feel, android OS and a great physical keyboard make a super great team! Love my KEYone! It's a great work unit, email crusher and typing is pure.
    I would seriously love a plus model, maybe the keyboard from the Classic line or Bold line with the new modern touches. Keyboard short cuts are fantastic, less crowded screen now.
    Hope the whispers of new models is true! :)

    I love this phone, actually more than the Key2. I prefer the overall look and feel to the Keyone vs the Key2. The rounded edges on the bottom made it far more comfortable to hold. I actually went back to using my Keyone over the 2 simply because I enjoyed it more. I don't play any games or anything so the 625 was plenty to get what I need done on a daily basis.

    If i didn't love HTC so much i would have chosen the BB phone because i love a hardware keyboard. It is a feature that i keep missing on my phone. Especially now that we are texting to much on our phone. In the past i wrote whole chapters of school assignments on my HTC phone like the TyTn2 and the Desire Z while traveling from Groningen to Amsterdam or Rotterdam to Groningen.

    For the KEYtwo I hope they take marketing serious. I hardly remembered this phone. Second is communication and consistency. Third move that power button.

    • @kranqaus533
      @kranqaus533 6 років тому

      Ramon McNally the power button is in the perfect place. This is because it can be used to hang up calls. Using a touch scren to hang up calls is terrible. The power button needs to be out of the way in order to avoid dropping calls.

    I really wish they can make Blackberry Passport version of Android as Passport 2 or have two versions of KeyTwo.
    One wide screen with high end specs and other a gradual update of Keyone.

    I'd like to see the nav keys come into a toolbelt with the trackball/pad like the classic had. Use the blackberry key for the app switcher. The classic was by far my favorite phone of all time.
