  • I took an old grocery list of mine from 4 years ago and purchased all the same items again from Walmart. In this video I'll compare all the prices and talk about the grocery inflation rate that I'm seeing here in Texas. #groceryhaulonabudget #inflation

I did something similar with a Walmart order 2022 vs 2024. About 30% increase plus several pkgs were smaller weight for the same or slightly higher cost.. deceptive packaging if you don't really pay attention.

I agree. I have really noticed that the number of ounces in a package is being decreased while the price is being increased. The consumer is getting hit on both ends - scary.

True! I noticed that recently when buying frozen pizza of all things. The pizza was a good 6 ounces smaller than several years ago and it was still a bit more expensive 😟

Start looking at the cost of flour, risers, and additives. You can make your own bread, or pizza crusts, etc. to cut costs. You can do these on a weekend. Watch a movie while you wait for the bread dough to rise while you do laundry... you get into a rhythm and it all works out. Bake enough bread to put into the freezer for a couple of weeks or more!

Great tips, thanks! I do enjoy baking bread but don’t do it every week - I probably should!

I have definitely noticed a price increase with smaller product size. Some things it feels like I have to buy 2 of to have enough now. Too bad when they redid the formula that supposedly determined we weren't in a recession, that they couldn't use the same magic wand to decrease our cost.

My Walmart receipts are around 60% more. I have a wife and 3 adult sons,so my bill for Walmart is around 2400.00 a month.my overall expenses have jumped from 7000.00-12000.00 a month.insane! Oh and I have 45 cats (1/2 inside) which is another 300.00 a month 😂

Wow, I can’t get passed the fact that you have 45 cats!! I do like cats, but that is a lot! 😄
But to reply to your point about expenses, we have also seen all of our expenses go up over the past couple years. I’m amazed at how much less we spent just a few years ago.

Actually, there is a lot of greed from the grocery stores as a result of inflation!

I don’t doubt that they try to take advantage as much as they can 😅

Food prices have nothing to do with inflation, it is corporate greed! Look at their profits which are obscene. A reporter earlier in the year attended annual meetings of the major food companies. Each CEO told their shareholders they would continue to increase prices until the consumers looked for alternatives. Look at the CEO of Kelloggs to have cereal for dinner to help with food prices and weeks after increased their prices 23%
