SOLD! I just got a Les Paul, and I didn't want to have to buy a new Marshall amp to get these tones. Thanks for this overview, it was a great demonstration of this little pedal.
I'm bringing plexi back! Excellent video and pedal review. I like how you covered all the classic tones which is really helpful. I'll definitely subscribe. As they say cheers!
Hey, I’m bringing plexi back! 👏 One thing you didn’t cover is response to guitar-volume roll-down, which is excellent and gives you access to all those low-gain tones. I have one of these feeding a Mesa Rectoverb, which is not a very Marshally-sounding amp without some help. The Plexi Drive gives it the help it needs.
I'm bringing Plexi back! I love the Plexi-drive. I have the Deluxe, the Standard and the Mini. They're all a bit different soundwise. The Deluxe is a bit darker and feels more compressed, the Standard more open, less compressed and less gainy, the Mini the most gainy and "aggressive". The Standard is the best for more vintage sounds and is my favourite of the three.
I made a video comparing the three pedals not long ago. Not a great video like the ones you make, but you can hear the differences. ua-cam.com/video/sRne3znG7WE/v-deo.html
in my experience some of the very cheap china plexi pedals from donner, mooer, rowin etc sounding at least as good as this one if not better sometimes.. i did a shootout comparing 8 of those pedals a/b and the clear winner was..and stil is.. the mighty mosky plexi-m, second nux plexi crunch, both @ 25-30€
Thanks Chris. Did you make a video? I would love to watch. I also tried this against the Nux Plexi Crunch at a band rehearsal and for me, the Wampler cut better and left the NUX a little wimpy sounding. I will try it again in a video.
Gotta love the Plexi tone. I have the Plexi Drive Deluxe you can dial whatever tone variation you want. However, I am currently using my Xotic SL for simplicity great tone (not as flexible) and small size.
Whamp ya amp into shape, kick it right in the Pre! Brian building breadboard boosters for a better tomorrow. I forgot the fraze but I was at, The End… wait isn’t that a Ravenonettes song?
I started messing around and trying to/building stuff for myself because of Brian and his breadboard vids 👌 My biased fuzz face is even still on a breadboard 🤣
I’m bringing plexi back .. again This pedal works better for my higher gain needs then the JHs CB v4 that doesn’t get a bit of gain until 75% on the gain dial 😮
I’m bringing plexi back 😊 I feel like this was a different video to last time when you were largely talking about ghostbusters with Jamie Humphries and being the only channel to run it at 18v - I think that video was the reason why I subscribed to this channel 😂
Welcome back! Yes we did 18V, I didn't feel 18V made the pedal sound any better once I got it into my studio so I kept it at 9V but I am glad Jamie and I had a chance to do it
Hello back, from a Marshall sound loving enthusiast. 👍🏻And, now that I've finished watching, I kinda dig the sounds that it gets. Perhaps....I'm bring plexi back!
Good job almost got the Plexi Drive opted the EHX Glove instead. After hearing you play that Plexi it just might be in my future. I will be sure to use your Sweetwater link. You play way better than that Ryan guy.
Im bringing plexi back. If I had vintage pickuped strat, it be very tempting, but with humbuckers, it dont sounded bad, but not the sound Im actualy missing.
Great video! I decided to buy one, you may want to listen to Highway to hell again before you try and play it, just sayin! Everything else sounded fantastic though…. 😊
I'm bringing the plexi back, I would have loved to hear it with the HB 62 tele what do you think Andy? Once more you have made me a poorer pensioner as I have just ordered my 62 tele you dog. love and best wishes and keep up the great presentations.
That makes my plexus drive seem weedy Ih no I need another pedal 😁😁😁 Thanks Andy I hope your fully recovered Nice improvement again. In the playing I can’t play just now so I’m not happy !! 😳😁
@@TheGuitarGeek The G4 has been the only pedal that I've tried that sounds better than real tubes to me but I don't use it crazy high gain. I use the G4 with everything around 12 but the mids at 3 o'clock, the switch in the middle. I also run it as a true "preamp" into the fx return of my amp bypassing the amp's preamp section (HT60)
It seems to me that most "amp in a box" pedals focused on the drive tones. Which pedals out there are good simulators of amps in general (clean to dirty)? Edit: excluding modelers.
I can't bring Plexi back too much - the Plexi tone doesn't really do it for me. I like the mid switch on this one, but Plexi's always sound so harsh and crispy to me. I could do low gains on this maybe. Great playing and very helpful video!
I'm sorry... Were you talking about a pedal? I didn't notice because my brain was repeatedly going" "Red Revv G20?!! Red Revv?! Red Revv?!" Throughout the whole first 5 minutes, My bad : )
I'm bringing plexi back - Great video, amazing sound! Next to this one for Marshall Plexi tones, which pedal(s) would you recommend as similar to a JCM800? So far my money goes to the JHS Angry Charly (I'd actually get the Boss/JHS Angry Driver to get an extra Blues Driver in the mix by sacrificing the eq on the Angry Charly) but do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

I recently sold my Marshall SV20 since I wasn’t using it, but since I bought this I’m ‘bringing Plexi back’, literally.
I'm bringing plexi back - like the hot rodded tone myself. Wampler makes great pedals!
I’ve brought Plexi back! I bought this pedal a week ago, it’s added a completely new sound to my rig. Bought one used for $100 and it was brand new.
You got a great deal there! Enjoy it.
Only just found this one as thinking about this pedal. Good review bringing plexi back! lol 😂

I got this pedal and it even made a Squire Strat sound good.
Seriously though.
Great tone.

Wow! A really great demo. I think I want one. Thank you. ❤
When you plugged in the Strat I thought it sounded better but figured it was just me. I was happy when you confirmed.
Yeah! It feels more responsive with a Strat but it also kills with humbuckers!

You sure bring the Plexi back!
Thanks John :D

It’s insane that it fits in the pocket. It makes me want to bring plexi back.

Sweet little plexi pedal with huuuge tone!!
Cheers Johnny.
I'm bringing plexi back, and yes, I was listening on ear buds with my phone and didn't hear much bass
Interesting! It is very subtle Janice but it definitely there. Thanks for stopping by
I thought that my pinnacle was, well the pinnacle of Marshall sound but I think I am bringing plexi back.
I think there's room for this tiny little beast too!
What a great sounding pedal 👍🏻👍🏻😍😍

I was using the Fender Deluxe Reverb

Thank you.
You're welcome!
why don't you compare the fender+plexi drive to the marshall sv20h (the mini plexi) without a pedal?
The Marshall currently needs a new pre amp tube. I will compare a series of pedals once I get the Marshall up and running again
