7:00 -7:15 was all I needed to see then I opened my van by hand. Then fixed it. My actual cable came off the lock.
From that 7-7:15 screenshot I was able to put the cable back on.
Thanks😊
Great! Glad the video helped. Just think of the money you save. Thanks for the comment really helps the channel...
Thanks Ford. If you had put metal ends on the cables to begin with, we wouldn't have this problem.
100% agree! What were the engineers thinking?
This Fn situation took forever to fix. What a PITA
Nice video.
Great video! Is there a clip that clips the long rod going from the key lock up too the latch on top. Is there a clip on top at the latch.
Thanks for the comment. Yes there is clips. You can snap off with your fingers or screw driver
@@outdoorswithcam thank you !!!
That darn bird 🐦 never sleeps
😂
To think I paid $200 to get mine fixed and you did it in 8 minutes
Try 8 hours -- many video edits.
You cant see nothing u got to go closer with the camera if someone held the camera for u it would of been better
Ford = Fix Or Repair Daily 😂 Thanks for a great video, I just got the same exact problem on my van.
Its actually pretty easy to repair. You can repair all of them with a box of metal ones $10 off ebay. If you go buy new cables they are $40 a piece and have same plastic on them. good luck.
@@outdoorswithcam Thank you sir! I ordered them just now!
Thanks very much!
Hope it helps. Sorry for the poor quality. That camera I used wasn't very good
I moved to Florida from Maine over 6 years ago.
I haven't heard the beautiful song of the American Robin at dusk since then.
They don't like the heat down here.
Man your preaching to the choir. What a piece of crap ford did when they used the nylon ends on these cables mines a 2001 and I've replaced all the ones on both side and rear doors. I'm surprised the two passenger doors haven't gone yet. But now I probably jinxed it, haha. The outter side just went again yesterday. What a pain in the butt. I actually had to take the outter handle off. So had to drill out the rivets, and put small bolt's on it. Cause I didn't have a rivet gun that'll hold 1/4 inch rivets. Now I do. Anyway, there goes tomorrow. Take care.
Crazy isn't it. How much money did they save? I think some of these "new" cars are going to be even worst in a few years. Thanks for the comment! It helps the channel
@@outdoorswithcam Ha,,They saved plenty probably. It's the consumers that pay. Always the consumers.
Hope your channel is doing well. Take care.
I’m having to crawl through from the cab past the cage into the back to unlock the slide door
My boy started when the sun was out and finished when the moon came out. I struggled myself, but sheesh.
What took so long? If it was taking the panel off I understand. Think about the mechanic that gets paid by the rate manual. It only pays 50 minutes.
Just think if Ford used metal it would have lasted forever instead they used cheap rubber...
How did you get the door open
Took panel off and reached up in there and tripped the latch.
I'm having problems getting the cable in the clip is there an easy way and I'm just not seeing it
i used fuel line clamped/tie wraps over the tubing for same results
Definitely redneck
Hold the camera still ! I couldn’t see the cable connections.
I know need three hands. Biggest problem was I used an old gopro. Wide angle lens suck.
You are missing steps in the video as to how you got the lock out and how you opened the one spring.
Its hard to get a camera up inside the door when I can barely get my hand up there. The lock is held in place with a "c" shaped clip. YOu just pull the clip off and lock falls out. No tools needed.
You need to have a close-up view of the parts you are working on especially the damage part so we can see how it is damaged. Not very useful video
@@truth-seeker9071 I show the part at :25, new part :59 cutting broken one out 1:46. I do have close up of parts in video one when I do rear and drivers doors. This side door video is a continuation of the series of repairing the cables and replacing all the locks. I bought the van and none of the doors would open and no keys to anything.
Don’t take the C clamp off the lock! The metal rod pushes off easy. It’s just clipped into the orange end.
I don't understand what the C clamp is. I had to take it off because I couldn't reach up there and visualize everything. Plus wanted to lub everything
"C clamp"? Hmmmm I never saw a "C clamp" in this nor do I see a need for 1. Could B a redneck thing? Just a thought.
What year make and model was your van? I have an 09 Econoline superduty I need to do this too. I bought the cams already
01 They are all the same for like 20 years.
How to do this when your door ia stuck closed, yours is open
Take the plastic panel off and reach up there and release the latch.
Name of the parts in Amazon my frend , I’m have the same problem
Don't do Amazon. Bought them off ebay becasue amazon wanted more for shipping then parts cost. Ebay had free shipping. It was like $10 for 8 of them. They are made by dornman
Please don't drill the Rivet holding the Locking Solenoid, pry the Bracket it sits in/out, I used a wide Blade screwdriver, peace3ed
I don't understand comment. I didn't drill any rivet. The only rivets I remember drilling was for window regulators...
Manufacturers from the auto industry all the way through, well, you name a manufacturing business and what you will see is that the word "quality" is no longer the backbone of ANY manufacturing company, most ESPECIALLY, the automotive industry. They long ago adopted what is called "Planned Obsolescence". They purposefully design their products to wear out at a specific point so that you, as a CONSUMER, are forced to repair your vehicle (or product) or to cause you to go out and buy the same item again.
Your statement is so TRUE! Its that way in everything now, Computers, cell phones, washers and driers...
ABSOLUTELY TRUE,. KIND OF SCAMMERS!! 😠
@@outdoorswithcam OMG! The cell phony conglomerates are horrible! Now phones are built with the battery encapsulated INTO the phone so it takes a specialist to pry them open if you want to install a new battery when the old one dies. So the average cell phone is basically only good for two years. Talk about treating the environment with total disregard. And the cost to consumers? Outrageous!
Do you think Ford had the metal replacement ends already designed when they manufactured these cables? I'll bet they did. So now it's either buy all new cables. At an exorbitant price. Or buy the tips. Not sure how long the tips have been around. But i remember when my first one went out, they were more expensive. My vans a 2001. Bought it in 2002. Guess I can't complain too much. So far everything I've had to fix, I've done myself. Still runs strong with the titton V8. And 20 years old. Just stupid stuff like this, that's aggravating. Good luck, Ford owners.
I think the bird is also narrating for his viewers as well?
Anybody knows that he started during the day and it's dark now Well
True. I also changed my clothes. I did the side cargo door on my lunch hour. You might notice I was wearing dress clothes. I came home from work on my lunch hour an did one. Did the back door when I got home from work at 5:30.
So what of the cables are broken inside also, how do I get it open if the cables are no longer attached anywhere?
You have to get the panel off off. then you can reach your hand up there and with your fingers move the lever. I know its a pain. This is a real manufacturing defect to save a little money...
Can you please send me the link
How do I open door both cables messed up
Take inside panel off and reach up there with your hand and pull the release.
@@outdoorswithcam I tried door lock knob looks like has play wondering if it not un locking i tried playing with that too idk if you god any better ideas
change all the broken cable to find out the latch is broke... practice makes perfect.
new or repaired latch ?
@@ioselinrivera4875 The cable are tricky and the ends need to be crimped correctly. New.
What are those metal things called
My box said "door cable repair" Manufactured by "Dorman". I got mine off ebay but Lexi says Advance has them...
why ford uses plastic parts on something that will be getting pressure every day all year, they been in business for years 😁 . job security?
Crazy isn't. Designed to break
Id just take the door off weight reduction = mpg increase someone stealing it highly unlikely since even crimals are after reliabilty but the insurance payoff exceeds what youd get selling it on craigslist so its a win win.
this is common especially in texas
Why is this a common problem? The heat?
What if it doesn't even open from the inside?
You remove the panel and reach in.
@@outdoorswithcam yeah I got it open pulled on the cables extra hard and opened.. worked on it for a couple of hours I finally came to the conclusion that the cables are bad ..
Or something everything is so stiff cables don't return when you let go of the handle.. i don't know i need to start over. Did the back ones worked super and I thought might as well do the side one that worked fine but I thought might as well do them too and now I really messed them up..
@@melgozakoki85 Remove the latch and lubricate it and check the cables. Make sure they are NOT kinked. If they are replace them Oraielys has the cables for $35. Take a picture before you remove it. Only couple of screws hold it in...
Title said door won't open less then 10 sec. In door opens not helpful for someone that the door indeed will NOT open from either side just saying..
Just reach your hand up there and move the lever. Where does it say "10 Sec".
