BYD Seal Consumption Test with iTAC/ECO modes - PART 2

- Revised iTAC consumption testing with BYD Seal - now with Eco mode enabled and iTAC disabled. In this video we will find out the real impact on consumption with these settings.
In the previous video on Electric Seal (see other videos on the channel), the iTAC off didn't have an impact on consumption, but then we used the Sport mode. Apparently, the front motor should be disabled only when iTAC is off in Eco mode, so this revised test is to verify if that is the case, and how it shows in kWh/100km.
I want to know range of this vehicle with itac off //eco mode ON I am planning to purchase. Company claims 580 km. On AWD model.
Depending on your driving profile; city or highway driving and the weather. Lately in somewhat cold temperatures (near 0 C degrees) on highway, I have had maybe 380 km range, but in city driving with warmer temps I think the Seal can do even over 600 km. For mixed driving (including highway), 580 is a bit optimistic, though.
Can you do Audio test. i will get my seal exellence in 2 weeks.
Oliko tossa menomatkalla jokin muu kuin Eco mode päällä? Ainakin mittaristön yläosassa punainen väri, kun taas eco modella sininen. Tulikohan tuo kulutusero puhtaasti vain ajomoden muuttamisesta? 🤔 Vaikuttaakohan tuo iTAC kulutukseen lainkaan.
This test would seem to indicate that the front motor is NOT disabled? The reader who advised this didn't offer any further information to back up his claim.
Yep, that seems to be the case based on my test - at least when using the ICC. I haven't yet tested without ICC.
@@ElectricSeal-bq5wuI would expect a bigger difference in efficiency, even with constant highway speeds. I am actually keen for BYD to add a user setting to disable the front motor and make it rear drive only, not just for efficiency but also driving dynamics. But it may not be technically possible to disable or disengage the front motor completely. My own experience with Eco mode is that it only dulls the accelerator response, that's all. I will have to try the Eco mode / iTAC off myself and see if it does make any difference to efficiency in city driving.
@@vasil7410 I agree, would like to see this setting added. Ioniq 6 has this and it's well implemented there. Even though I prefer AWD overall, there are quite many occasions when I'd like to have only the rear motor enabled.
The front motor can not be disabled its all wheel drive all the time.
@@Peter-vn8ue ua-cam.com/video/eENx7rscQ80/v-deo.html thats not true ;)
Could you confirm that if the ITAC off and in the Eco mode the front motor is inactive? If so then seal performance will have the same range as Seal Premium
That should be the case, but haven’t been able to confirm that yet. Would’ve expected bigger diff in consumption, though.
The iTAC system dynamically adjusts the driving torque of the front and rear axles to obtain better driving performance under complex road conditions, so it never completely disables the front motor but monitors and adjusts torque between the front and rear motors for the best outcome to maintain traction and stability.
@@Peter-vn8ue thanks for the insight! I saw some discussion earlier that someone achieved 17% reduction in consumption by turning iTAC off and that in eco mode it would make the car RWD, but appatently it’s not the case. Would really like to have this as a setting in the menu - perhaps in some future software update…
When you take it easy in eco I can get 15.7kwh/100km on a 50 km run at around 17 deg temp
Sure, that's well doable. But the question is: if you turn iTAC off, can you do the same route in same conditions and at same speed in e.g. 14 kWh/100 km? Some people have claimed 17% reduction in consumption with Eco mode and iTAC off, but I'm not yet been able to verify that.
wash your car, PLEASE!
Yeah, lately it’s been getting a lot of dirt, salt and mud on it almost daily..🙈
