Why It's Almost Impossible to Do a Quintuple Cork in Tricking | WIRED
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 жов 2019
- Tricking is a sport with roots in martial arts and elements of tumbling and breakdancing mixed in. The quadruple cork is tricking's ultimate feat: an off-axis backflip combined with four rotations in the air on a separate axis. WIRED's Robbie Gonzalez spoke with some of the best trickers in the world to find out how they do it, what makes it so hard, and whether anyone will ever manage to pull off a quint.

But what on earth is tricking? I understand why is hard to do a quint but Im still wondering what the sport is about.
Props to Robbie and Wired for great research and storytelling about tricking! It's pretty rare for a media outlet to cover tricking well and y'all did it!

@@GodsAutobiography mike finally getting some public attention he deserves
Nah former trickers and now stuntmen danny graham in black panther, anis cheurfa as rinzler in tron legacy and califf guzman in a bunch of stuff now are more mainstream. They just get the label of stuntmen not trickers. I used to trick with Califf back in the day. I never had money for equipment to record my sessions, but I think I have one recording of a crappy session back in like 2011 on my channel. I wish i could've recorded my best tricks. :(

@@Gagliano17 yep ppl like him will help propel this 'underground extreme sport' to the mainstream culture and hopefully make it a household sport. Maybe not like basketball, soccer, or football but even along the lines of skateboarding and ice skating would be nice. I'm a tricker since 13 years ago, and the level of professionalism and knowledge of this video; the pros specifically picked... everything is so well done (and by a mainstream channel) that is hard to believe. Thank so much for approaching the culture and communicating the culture so well. Honestly thank you very much. That was amazingly good.
Impressed at how well tricking is represented in this video, and how they really get across how difficult even a quad cork is.

Saaammmeee here!!
We finally making it out there 🔥
I discovered tricking around 2011-12 ish. I think that’s when tricking was just popping off because I remember parkour/martial arts being my fav physical activity to do back then, and I stumbled upon tricking videos with Anis Cheurfa, Travis Wong, basically the OG legendary trickers. I was so in awe that I wanted to learn and try it out. Lord and behold, tricking became my new favorite sport. New trickers are lucky because there are SO many tricking tutorials out there now, which is great tbh. Lol So it’s great tricking is getting more recognition. Even in today’s video games and movies/shows.
Pog!

Who?
why do i always expect some peculiar physical reasoning behind these videos when the answer is always: Because it's pretty hard.
Literally read my mind
Vini the physics in this case is actually surprisingly interesting. The touch down raise is actually quite a complicated set up physics wise first taking forward momentum and transferring it into angular rotation about the short axis and then twisting the body to transfer that into angular momentum about the long axis and subsequently pulling the arms into speed it up. This far more complicated than spinning a top. It’s actually an ingenious set up when you go through the physics since it requires multi-step set up physics wise. It would be impossible using a single step set up.
@@skicreature Oh it's certainly interesting but with those video titles I would expect some formulas the lead to some specific magical number as a hard, physical limit.
Vini agreed classic clickbait style title designed to grab clicks instead of portraying the true content of why this is interesting. The way of our world I suppose.

Shosei is 14 years old and has been doing more quad corks these days. He is a potential quint corker I'd say... Probably once he continues to grow and becomes much stronger
doubt it, all his quad corks are underrotated, he's never fully rotated one, only anderson, check his landing, he always has his feet pointing the other way.
Dennis G lol i didnt say he could land it now. Once he keeps spamming and lands better, he could in the FUTURE. Also i never said he would be the first one. I just said he is “a potential quint corker”. Emphasis on “a”.
@@euvink9381 i got that. but you said "he's been doing more quad corks, in reality none of them i'd even count, till he has landed a quad truly i'd not claim him to be a potential quinter =P, he knee's his corks, anderson has that insane lift because he actually swings his leg up, if shosei would get that down he'd probably get the quad, but quint idk man, he already twist insane but he's missing alot of lift just to even get quads consistent, quint is a whole other story, i'd be suprised if anyone gets quint cork, but the same was said about trip and quad corks xD, on airtrack maybe but spring idk man
@@Gagliano17 yea you're right about the lift, somehow trickers like Johan Kisila and Shosei seem to just swing theyre right leg and its never straight, but they rip their twist. You should do a video on why the standing triple backflip is virtually impossible. The standing double backflip was only recently achieved, but since then a lot more people have been able to achieve it. Tricking is a sport of glass ceilings and once one person shows that a trick is possible, it inspires other people to train for it and try to surpass it.
