I like how you can tell how the gymnasts focus on grace and the parkour’ers focus on technically just “making” it. I assume that’s because they’re jumping on buildings so grace isn’t their focus, keeping themselves safe is. Compared to gymnasts, they have the freedom to be in a safer environment so they can focus on these graceful, powerful routines that are encapsulating. I flipping love both sports.
Why don't they make a video on gymnasts performing Parkour and compare them..... Both of them are specialized for different things... They are different sports. It's like comparing cricket and baseball

Please don’t spend your time nitpicking other peoples comments. There are so many better things to do.
I’d like to see him try more of the men’s gymnastics, like the pommel horse, still rings and horizontal bars. I bet they would enjoy it more also if they took out some of the flourishing that you see in women’s gymnastics.
they were all so cute and lovely. it's sweet to see how much they encouraged one another and how everyone only showed respect for everyone else. also appreciate how there was no competitiveness, just admiration and learning :)
With the shorts, right?? He was AMAZING! I can't get over how good he was. A couple weeks practicing to discipline his movements and he'd look like he'd been doing it his whole life!!!!
@@WAGgymSuperFan sure, that's understandable, but they're saying that if he put his mind towards gymnastics practice - either in conjunction with or instead of - his parkour experience, then he might have enough raw talent & learned experience to perform as well as some advanced gymnasts. those might be basic moves but if he's performing that well at the foundational level, then he likely wouldn't need more than a few months to a couple of years to master higher gymnastics elements. i think that'd be amazing to see!
I think it's probably an instinct for him after probably going through narrow spaces most of his time doing parkour. It's quite scary and painful if you get grazed just because you didn't have enough space.
@@JTGallant I love how not seriously you took that aspect of gymnastics. Like you put so much fun into it. It would have also been cool to see you try to do the whole graceful thing. There are plenty of respectful guys about. Sure, some men can be overly concerned about their own image, but that happens in both camps, I think. Personally, I think we could all stress a little less about how we are being perceived by other people, we are all basically the same on the inside.

You should watch the gymnasts try parkour one too! The same people. The guys are also very encouraging. I love how none of them are trying to show off and give compliments where its due
Yeah he had more flow to his muscle movement. I think the way they think of gymnastics and parkour being different in whether or not it's rigid or uses creativity is more about the different of environment/course, and someone needed to remind them to let their bodies flow, curve, point, but then also end up technically controlled. The guy in the grey shirt was starting to move that way on the beam. But also like the girls said it's typically not part of male gymnastics so ~purposely~ adding some of that flourish and looseness might have felt a little silly to them.
I feel so bad when guys are uncomfortable with dancing/ certain forms of artistic expression. It makes me wonder how we traumatize boys when they’re young to think that anything girly is worthy of punishment/ ridicule that they can jump off buildings with no problem but are deeply uncomfortable with swaying their arms around.
Oh rubbish. Plenty of men dance. I'm a woman but I've never felt comfortable doing anything like dancing or drama in front of people. Why do you have to turn things into 'trauma' when it's just different personalities and affects both genders the same?
@@cyflym11 girlie that’s your experience, others have it different. There are different cultures and different gender roles that don’t make sense in a lot of places and boys not dancing or showing flair is a common one in a lot of places.
@@a.blackwater3076 And the other posters haven't made assumptions? They have said that men are ridiculed and 'traumatised' for dancing, they didn't qualify it by saying 'in some cultures' or 'in my experience'. I'm not allowed to have an opinion but they are? Perhaps I don't fit the woke victim narrative well enough. There are famous male dancers, figure skaters etc in all countries, that is a fact. In some other cultures and religions women are not allowed to dance. Do you feel their 'trauma' too?
I agree with you! I am very happy these guys took it seriously and weren't really uncomfortable at all! It really highlights the differences in the two disciplines and I'm glad the guys didn't dismiss it all as a feminine thing, they respected it like a sport and treated it seriously!

@zenubi that's fair lmao but I mean as in like... They both have to be extremely strong and agile so I'd like to see how fast male ballet dancers could pick up on some parkour stuff (if at all I guess lol)
I think it would be cool if there were a few male gymnasts and females who do parkour, like mixed groups. But I really like how respectful they are towards each others sports
I kind of assumed most parkour guys had done high school gymnastics at least. There's really no opportunity to use it for 99+% of guys after school, parkour seems like a natural hobby to get into.

Watching Sahara observe the beam routines was wonderful. She had this great expression of delight at how much fun the guys were having with it.
I agree! Also this contrast is what makes freerunners who focus on the flow and grace even more impressive.
Pun intended?
Why don't they make a video on gymnasts performing Parkour and compare them..... Both of them are specialized for different things... They are different sports. It's like comparing cricket and baseball

The guy in the green shorts is all around pretty good. He can still be an awesome gymnast but he probably could have really gone places if he’d tried it out younger.

@@MissT61324 I mean... these were pretty basic skills for gymnastics. Nothing that difficult

It's nice to see athletes of different mediums get together and learn about each other! And also baller to see dudes who are respectful and not trying to scoff at something being "too girly" like some of those body builder videos i've seen.
There are plenty of respectful guys about. Sure, some men can be overly concerned about their own image, but that happens in both camps, I think.
Personally, I think we could all stress a little less about how we are being perceived by other people, we are all basically the same on the inside.

Mike "flexibility is not my strong suit"
Mike is a beast 👏👌💯
+1

My favourite thing between the two types is the landings. Here, the Parkour peeps are like "By any means necessary" and in the opposite video the gymnasts were constantly presenting themselves as they've been taught. I loved it either way

I know they were going so low, practically rolling
I stg one of their wrists (or both) along with their neck was going to break 😂 like I got major anxiety when they were doing vault 😂
i was so worried for them because of the way they kept bending their arms and trying to roll with it and their heads and spines would get so close to smacking it, which does really hurt
