      don't worry Allen. muscle weighs more than fat. its natural to gain a bit of weight if you grow your muscles from the leg weights. if you wanna get rid of fat, then you need to do more cardio and diet better so your body uses it up.

      Im so glad you didn't explode a tendon like myth busters exploded the concrete truck. I grew up a fat kid untill sports. I actually maintained weight but lost fat, which means I gained muscle. You probably gained muscle fast due to body not having prior training for months bro science calls it(newbie gains). Is there any chance you can recreate on of grant imaharas coolest robots. the weight check is the funniest part of this video 😂it's definitely muscle gain. Back in the day, my sister forced me into this weight loss program with her and one of the first things they told us is to not be discouraged by the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat and so you aren't going to see your numbers magically drop since your muscle is just replacing your fat. They said, instead of focusing on weight, you should be focusing on inches. You'll see more progress with a measuring tape than a scale.

    • @lilliemucha6419
      @lilliemucha6419 Місяць тому +4

      I’ve also always heard that 5 lbs of variation per day is completely explainable by whether you just ate & drank a lot for a single meal, or just went to the bathroom. I fully support people having less reliance on a scale to determine progress

    • @dolphinloser6546
      @dolphinloser6546 5 днів тому

      @@lilliemucha6419Honestly, depending on everything from mealtimes and work out times to sleep schedule to genetics, it's perfectly possible to vary by up to 10lbs in either direction over the course of a week even if you're aiming to maintain weight and doing the same thing every day. We're not machines, some days our bodies will just retain more water or digest something slower or even just be bloated because of hormones or any other chemical reactions going on. I fully agree as well, the scale is rarely that useful even in weight loss, and if it is used then it should be done only occasionally - otherwise people just get focused on that one number instead of their overall health and well-being

    Ex-Metal Drummer here. Was a drummer for a 3 years, before I really got into a Metal Band, and the band... and me too... wanted me to be able to be that fast double bass running (I.E. Lombardo From Slayer). So... while I could match the pace, I couldn't maintain that speed for a full 5mins for a song, much less a 30min-1 hour set... So I did this _Basically..._
    I put 10lbs on each leg, for 20lbs total, at the ankles... and then went to work everyday where I was the Fastest and main sandwich maker at a Wendy's. That kept me moving all the time, which is what I think was missing the most from this vid. I was still using all the smaller muscle giving me finer control over my legs, rather then *_WADDLING_* everywhere like he was doing.
    Within 4 weeks of doing this, my legs were machine guns, sadly the band never really went anywhere and now I have a 13piece Drum kit just collecting dust for over a decade.

In my humble opinion, Lars was the Modern version Ringo, not a _bad_ drummer, but by no means *_special_* in anyway. Hell I'd put Joey far above Lars on a "Best Drummers" list.

      Old job I had required steel toed knee length rubber boots, like those typical water boots but steel toed, and I had to wear them standing on concrete all day long for 8-14 hours. My feet, legs, and lower back was so damn stiff and sore fore like the first six months but after that, aside from the occasional annoyance of floppy socks sliding down in the boot, I definitely noticed a difference when I wore sneakers around.

    But eventually my knees started to give out and now I can’t do the exercise that I used to do before because of it. So now I am much worse than I would have been if I had not done that, for a marginal improvement while I was able to do it. And I am not even that old yet!

      @@Matt-jc2ml I have a simple real world solution that wouldn't do any harm to joints and show maximum benefits of weighted clothing, fat people, your are naturally stronger when you weigh more because you are used to moving more weight, but if you actually exercise, you lose weight if you are doing calisthenics they become easier, because less weight over time. So how to fix this, if you start out real fat, add weight clothing proportionally to your weight loss, so no strength is lost, and it shouldn't harm your joints anymore than being fat would have. So say starting at 300lbs, if you can do a pull up, pushups, run, whatever, as you lose weight, doing all those things now at say 180lbs after a couple years, but with 120lbs of weighted clothing would make you extremely strong and agile, no other training needed. Actually not much strong in this scenario from the start, but a 180lb guy with the strength of a 300lb guy. Also weight could probably be worn all day, since again you already wore it all day as fatty.

Two or three days after the dumbbell run I'd be almost two minutes faster than before I did the dumbbell run. Like 21:20 minutes before and 19:30 after and feeling super light with long strides and not breathing hard. I don't recommend it but for me it was only about 12 or 13 percent of my body weight because I was already 235lbs so didn't think there'd be much skeletal risk in my late 20's.

If he can move said leg much faster, that means he packs a lot more power. A real-world example would be Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee kicked so fucking fast that he knocked a 300 lb bag around like a tetherball. He was only around 140 lb, but holy fuck he was fast. The only real reason people have that "power and speed are different things" idea is more for entertainment. But rest assured a faster attack means it packs way more of a punch. Haha. Punch. 'Cause we're talking about attacking.
      Alternatively, you could increase your mass and pack more power into your hit, but it's a lot harder to move when you do, so speed it is.

Shit, now I gotta look up what's normal to make sure I'm not making it up. Give me a second to make sure I'm not imagining stories, but I did clock in compared to a car at 25 mph, and in shoes that were badly tied. In return for this burst strength, I didn't have the stamina to retie my shoes and do it again, so not without cost. I'm checking a normal time as of this moment...
      OK, literally the first thing I saw was the average person runs 8.7 mph, clearing the hundred meter dash in 27 seconds. I claim 25 mph top speed, and my best time was 10.4 seconds. The math checks out, I wasn't imagining my teenage prowess. I used to do an hour of cardio kickboxing with 5 pounds on each leg three times a week. The problem is if you treat it like normal kicking you will get joint pain and likely problems down the line, HOWEVER, when I altered my movement into a controlled fast lifting motion all the joint problems went away. Treat it more like fast weight lifting, control the motion, do NOT snap the kick, and it does seem to make you faster. Also I modified the weights to not shift but be tightly affixed to my legs. Finally be sure to train your kicks without the weights as well as the additional speed tends to make you overshoot targets. Though rather than leg weights I'd recommend hand weights. I used 1 pound hand weights while holding an additional 8 pound dumbbell while punching the air and that was far easier to set up, control, and I never got joint pain from it. Before you try any leg weights try holding a 1 pound dumbbells in each hand and doing fast but controlled punches. Do NOT hyperextend (which you should never do anyway) and control the punch both ways keeping the muscle taut, do not go limp at any time). Just practice keeping your guard up, punching, and weaving like a boxer. Honestly I got more out of that than the leg weights and it's quite a bit safer/easier.

    that's highly dangerous. even in the anime, it took rock lee 1 year. To avoid health concerns, it should be slowly increasing the weights. haha.

      Yeah you could easily get tendonitis, bursitis or torn ligaments.
      Correct form is crucial. Leaning to far forward or back will put ENORMOUS strain on both adductor and hamstring tendons. You DO NOT want adductor tendonitis. You will want to die. You can't sit, lie down, stand still or walk (even sit on the toilet) without being in pain.
      Slowly does it. The injuries are never worth the saved time by doing exercises quickly.
      Make sure you know how to correctly squat so your knees are following the correct track. Check that your hips and knees are healthy.
      Chiropractor or Osteopath.

    This reminds me of when I started wearing steel toed boots. It took weeks to get used to the weight but every time I switched to my regular running shoes I always felt lighter and faster.
