Both you and your brother need to apologise to each other. They are two very different sports, the only real similarities is that they are both on ice. A hockey player can't figure skate, he doesn't have the grace or agility. A figure skater can't take a hit like a hockey player, even with the armor it would probably kill them. Now STFU.
As I figure skater I really liked this! A lot of videos about quads and just skating in general aren't very factual and get a lot of things wrong but this was very good!
The weight of a figure skater can be deceptive... I've been figure skating 18 months now, changed my diet and I'm eating a lot less sugar and a lot healthier in that time and I've gained muscle mass but I've not visible changed shape. Except for Yuzuru Hanyu he's as light as you'd think he is
I think I read somewhere that Jon Boyang actually started the quad wars :D not really by landing one of the first quad, but by having (I think) 4 quads in a program, and that's how skaters realized that they can add more quads than before :O ... then there comes nathan making 5 quads ^_^
Would've been even better if you had included the Tricking Quad Cork...there has only been one person to ever land it and it's way more insane than the others in my opinion.
Jasper de Laat well.. Kinda.. You don't have the assistance of acceleration on the snow and it's just you and the floor.. Not considering you have less time in the air to complete the twist..
White Nathan Chan is the two-time US figure skating championship for the past two years. There's hope that he may medal in this year's winter Olympic games.
It might be easier if they don’t do back spins on the turn board lmao As an ice skater, even landing a double jump feels like your going super fast. I can’t imagine doing a quad.
something I notice is that people do back spins when they use a turnboard. I just got one last year and my friends when they try to use it always do backspins.
@@montserrat8519 2 years later me speaking. That’s a good observation because now that I’m doing backspins I realize a lot of things. I think the reason people who don’t skate are gravitated towards back spins is the the movement of putting your inside leg up already moves you in the correct direction for spinning (unless maybe your left handed). The natural edge you tend to lean on when your inside foot is up curves you the right way compared to front spins. Also in dance you do “back spins” too.
I mean, Illia landed quadruple axel. Who knows what he’ll do next, he said his goal was to land a quint lutz And Mark was working on quint salchow on the harness, he’s landed it on there.
After just watching the standing jump episode I think it would be very important to build leg muscles to jump higher. The 90 cm would give twice the time to spin.
3:05 I disagree with this statement. Boyang Jin started the Quad Race with his Quad Lutz in 2015 and the first man ever to land four quads in a program at the 2016 Four Continents Championships.
He said _five_ quads in one program, not four. At the 2016 Four Continents Championships, Jin landed a quad lutz, quad salchow, and two quad toe loops in his free skate, becoming the first skater to land three kinds of quads in a single program.

Should all examine gymnasts and trampolinists, both for spins and just for the edge of human physical capability.
Ethan Rummel yes I’ve been freerunning (parkour with flips) for about 6 years, and there is more science in flips and spins than you think.
Ethan Rummel I don't understand the point of your sentence.
or you could spend time doing something useful.
Greg roe did a octuple full
Agreed, I think gymnastics And other acrobatics disciplines would provide better examples of twisting.
3:21 that guy looks like he hasn't slept in a week o.o

When you can’t even stand on a ice skating ring
That former quad king, MASSIVE respect him for his humility !
“quints are impossible “
Yuzuru Hanyu and Nathan Chen :
you sure about that ?
Add Boyang Jin and we have our Holy Skating Trinity
My brother: HoCkEy Is MoRe DiFfIcUlT ThAn FiGuRe SkAtInG!!!
Me: *shows him this video* THEY ARE ON THE EDGE OF WHAT IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!!!! STOP TALKING!!!!
Both you and your brother need to apologise to each other.
They are two very different sports, the only real similarities is that they are both on ice.
A hockey player can't figure skate, he doesn't have the grace or agility.
A figure skater can't take a hit like a hockey player, even with the armor it would probably kill them.
Now STFU.
Cole Dibiase so he needs to apologize to his brother for telling him that hockey isn’t harder, nothing more? And giving proof
Samサマンサ do you mean Ice Hockey or regular Hockey?
"It's *almost* impossible to do a quint"
Yuma: haha, *give it to me*
update: yuzuru hanyu is trying do quints but with harness
Someone landed a quadruple axel
As I figure skater I really liked this! A lot of videos about quads and just skating in general aren't very factual and get a lot of things wrong but this was very good!
We found that skaters land with somewhere between 5-8 times their body weight, or 1-2 times my own body weight 😂😂😂
The weight of a figure skater can be deceptive... I've been figure skating 18 months now, changed my diet and I'm eating a lot less sugar and a lot healthier in that time and I've gained muscle mass but I've not visible changed shape.
Except for Yuzuru Hanyu he's as light as you'd think he is
I’m almost to my triples on the ice... this kinda made me feel good about my skating 😊
Do you still skate
Do you?
2:31 look at that snot
Fidget spinners on ice
nopenopenope WAS THAT A YURI ON ICE REFERENCE?!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAA

Shatterdpixel so what? I am too! if you don’t like us, ignore the comment and don’t be mean.
Some Singer read my username ;)
Shatterdpixel thank you 😊 I AM a weeb 😊
Nathan Chen has inspired so much, at least me, I'm so impressed, I've always loved skating, but now, I'm obsessed.
Bet u yuzuru hanyu will be the first
flo parsons yes I agree!!!
hardly, she is ready to retire
dragonboy718 She? Yuzu is a male skater
That was what I was thinking! XD
I hope he will make 400 points too
update 2024: Ilila Malinin perfected the quad axle with 4.5 rotations in the air. Anything is possible
Mark kondratiuk has already done an attempt of a quint! we are really near to this!
ilia malinin: i s t h i s a c h a l l e n g e ?
I think I read somewhere that Jon Boyang actually started the quad wars :D not really by landing one of the first quad, but by having (I think) 4 quads in a program, and that's how skaters realized that they can add more quads than before :O ... then there comes nathan making 5 quads ^_^
Hi! 4 years later Yuzuru Hanyu attempted 4A (4.5 rounds) in Beijing 2022 ✨✨
Ilia Malinin ✅ 4Axel
4.5 done
5 revolutions to go
"IT'S JJ STYLE" 😂😂
Here after Malinin's quad axel
So fascinating! I love these sports science videos during olympic season
Would've been even better if you had included the Tricking Quad Cork...there has only been one person to ever land it and it's way more insane than the others in my opinion.
Our piece was about Winter Olympic sports , so we didn't include the tricking quad cork -- but it's amazing!
More insane than pulling that while flying 30 meters? Yeeeaaahhh.... nope
vledermau5 you referring to michael guthrie’s quad cork
This guy considering he's the only whose done a quad, yes 😂
Jasper de Laat well.. Kinda.. You don't have the assistance of acceleration on the snow and it's just you and the floor.. Not considering you have less time in the air to complete the twist..
I see Nathan, I click
wu lize same
wu lize I see Nathan, I wonder who he is
White
Nathan Chan is the two-time US figure skating championship for the past two years. There's hope that he may medal in this year's winter Olympic games.
Yuzuru Hanyu be like: i want a quad axel. better do quint toeloop first.
Ilia Malinin has pretty much confirmed he has landed a quint. I just wanna see one!!!
I can't even do 2 rotations on land 😂😂😂
I bet you can't do one ;)
I can't do not even one
Ilia "Quads" Malinin
This was amazingly done
This dude used a joji song as his performance song he's one of us
It might be easier if they don’t do back spins on the turn board lmao
As an ice skater, even landing a double jump feels like your going super fast.
@@magsmccat this is probably one of the most intelectual conversations I have ever had

I mean, Illia landed quadruple axel. Who knows what he’ll do next, he said his goal was to land a quint lutz
And Mark was working on quint salchow on the harness, he’s landed it on there.
You said it
After just watching the standing jump episode I think it would be very important to build leg muscles to jump higher. The 90 cm would give twice the time to spin.
You guys should look at Martial Arts Tricking . We’re pushing 4s with punch and swing take offs
I've always wondered why figure skaters don't slip
yeet michael guthrie and mikael mantis
Laughing Wolf Michael Guthrie's Quad cork
Don't give Yuzuru any ideas before the Worlds. We need him and his ankle to heal properly
4:47 I hope you know you almost broke your leg right there and then. My eyes popped when I saw how you landed on that trampoline.
*Yuri on ice is shook*
Lmfao 😂😂😂😂❤️
a fellow Otaku!
Omg that weirded me out at 3:44 I was like that looks a lot like my rink and then I realized it was!
I think its the yerba buena center in SF
It's actually University of Delaware, it says in the top right
you're right, i was thinking about the rink that the guy who is talking is at
Ohhhh okay 👍
Georgia C r
and now we have ilia malinin casually jumping quads like theyre doubles and triples
Wait. at the end. Cameraman was filming while skating backwards? WHAT A LEGEND. give him a raise please.
Elvis Stojko is all I'm saying.
I know, right!!!
American media logic, if we haven't done it yet in sports it hasn't happened yet.
why don't you have more likes? oh yea....
He was disqualified... Tested positive for McCain's Superfries.
Muzly has
It’s 2024 and the International Skating Union established scores for quints.
