From Meatloaf’s own mouth, The thing he won’t do, Meat Loaf said, is spelled out in the line before the chorus kicks in. In the lyrics, for example, he’s saying he would do anything for love, but he won’t ever “stop dreaming of you every night of [his] life.” In fact, four such promises are made during the course of the song, each time before a chorus kicks in. In addition to saying he’ll “never stop dreaming of you,” the singer also says he’ll “never forget the way you feel right now,” “never forgive myself if we don’t go all the way,” and “never do it better than I do it with you.”
It is because Steinman's songs are extremely poetic. And most people aren't listening to the song so much as the music. The one song I wish Meatloaf had sung by Steinman, was a song that shot Bonnie Tyler up the charts, 'A Total Eclipse of the Heart'. Even if he only did a cover of it, to see his take on its theme.

And I've been mesmerized ever since. He could sing the phone book to me and I'd be "That's the best phone book singing I've ever heard." Just my opinion. And, yes, he is fantastic in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as Eddie. I love watching people watch him for the first time.
That's not the only thing he won't do. It is spelled out in the beginning of each verse. *He won't lie to her. *He won't forgive himself if they don't go all the way tonight. *He'll never forget how she feels. *He'll never do it any better than he does it with her. *He'll never stop dreaming of her every night of his life. *He'll never screw around on her. Think I got most of them.
This guy battled illnes in later life , and actually collasped on stage due to a diabetic episode , they revived him after a while and he wouldnt go off stage , he asked the band where were we in the show and carried on , true performer and a great guy Meatloaf RIP
Meatloaf was noted for his powerful, wide-ranging voice & theatrical live shows. His "Bat Out Of Hell" trilogy albums are all time best-sellers. "Two Outa Three Ain't Bad" is my favorite song by Meatloaf. I enjoy his ballads the best such as "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)", "I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth)", "Dead Ringer For Love" (duet with Cher) etc. Sadly he passed away at the beginning of last year.
My favorite part of the lyrics which isn't in the video (the album version of the song is twelve minutes long) is "Will you make me some magic with your own two hands? Can you build an Emerald city with these grains of sand?" to which he obviously answers "I can do that!".

I've watched this music video many many times. Meatloaf's acting is simply brilliant. The moment when he lifts his head off her shoulder and his face has changed to human, you can see realisation in his eyes just before he starts to lift his hand up to his face (10.15) .... and then they fade out. Watching people fall in love with Meat Loaf is brilliant. He's one of those artists that people absolutely love, and you're starting to find out why. Your faces at the end were awesome.

No I won't do that!" The english isn't my first language but in my opinion it means that the boy (a.k.a Meatloeaf) finally will be able to raise her up and help her down and he will help get her right out of this Godforsaken town and he will make it all a little less cold. He will hold her sacred and hold her tight. He can colorize her life because she is so sick of black and white. He can make it all a little less old. He will make her some magic with his own two hands. Hi can build an Emerald city with these grains of sand. He can give her something she can take home. He will cater to every fantasy she have got. He will hose her down with holy water - if she get too hot. He will take her places she'll never know. But he will not forget everything and he will not see that it's time to move on. He will not be screwing around becase he would do anything for love. I am married for 20 years and it sounds me like a wrangling of a married couple and finally a reconcilliation had taken place. It is a lovely musical representation of a couple's wrangling. 😉
When he says he will do “anything for love but he won’t do that” he is saying he won’t do the previous line. For example, “I’ll never do it better than I do it with you” I won’t do that…..
I saw him at the NEC Birmingham in the UK and had seats at the side of the stage edge so we could see thing sgoing on backstage and when they were coming onto stage etc. Had the giant bat balloon not deflate properly so they had to send someone to go and crawl along the ceiling rigging to fix it. Also would always get waves off the performers as they came up backstage ready to go on. wasnt long before we were out the seats and standing at the railings instead lol, plus had his daughter join him and sing on there, was brilliant.
Don’t change the way you watch videos you guys are doing fine. Check out, “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth”. God bless Rest In Peace dear Meatloaf
Great job ladies with your reaction to I would Anything for love but I want do that from Meatloaf . Knowing what you just heard and saw from him and his team that's he is still not In the Rock and roll Hall is unreal and unjust and unimaginable. In the video the female who's singing is just lipsinking for the video.
Don't worry about those fools who can't stand you pausing the video. If they want to watch the whole video from start to finish then they can go ahead and watch the original. I already know the original and I'm more interested in hearing your comments as you go along. It's fun seeing people discover Meatloaf!
"Will you hose me down with holy water if I get too hot" had to be one of the most brilliant and sexiest lines written into a rock and roll power ballad.
Overlooked and underrated "Objects in the Rearview Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Really Are" is another great song/vid. Really worth a look/listen!!!
Meatloaf is one of my favourite acts of all time. He can sing & act to such a high standard and a huge shout out to Jim Steinman who composed so much, if not all of Meatloaf songs among others! Check out 'Nothing Sacred Anymore' & 'Rock and Roll Dreams Come True' Meatloaf Rocks 🤘🤘🤘🤘
This was his great comeback record..brilliantly sung and another masterpieces of song writing from the late great Jim Steinman. The woman in the video is Dana Patrick but the vocals were actually sung a a little known singer from the UK called Lorraine Crosby. When you say the words Meat Loaf…you think Bat out of Hell…his statement piece. One you definitely need to react to (the full album version though, not the radio edit single otherwise you will miss out on an epic intro) 😊 P.S. Still waiting for Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa Stone Cold pleeeeease 😊 told you I was gonna keep bugging you for it …you won’t regret it I promise 😂
4 words... "For Crying Out Loud" ua-cam.com/video/1S1AxSD_31A/v-deo.html Not a video but a very dramatic song highlighting his vocal skills and abilities!
The things he won't do in the beginning are directly confront her or try to force a relationship. Then when the woman sings she says he'll get bored with her, he says I won't do that. She says he'll start sleeping around, he says I won't do that. The scene where she hugs him is so powerful. When he pulls his head back and you see his face through her eyes and he's no longer disfigured like he sees himself when he smashes the mirrors. That has always hit me so hard. I've been a Meatloaf fan since dashboard came out decades ago. My daughter and all her friends fell in love with him in Rocky Horror Picture Show. He has such control with his voice, his ballads always brought such emotion. His passing last year was a huge loss to music. Great reaction girls, I'm going to have to check out mote stuff from your channel.
Lorraine Crosby, aka Mrs Loud, was the female vocalist in this video. Though you don't actually see her as her part is played by Dana Patrick, who mimes her lyrics. Lorraine gets to cover this song in her own shows, she also gets royalties from the original.
Well you can listen to the female singer when she sings,"Sooner or later you'll be screwing around" and Meatloaf's character replies, "No I won't do that!" I still remember when Meatloaf was interviewed on the Tom Snyder "Tomorrow" show in the 70's. Tom's first question was, "Can I call you Meat, or would you prefer Mr. Loaf?" Meatloaf explained how he got his name in HS on the football team. The coach was teaching the boys how to tackle. When it was Meatloaf's turn he knocked the coach over and landed on top of him. The coach yelled, "Somebody get this meatloaf OFF of me!" THat became his HS nickname and his professional name for the rest of his life.
The song was written by the late great Jim Steinman, who wrote and produced all of Meatloaf's albums. He along with Todd Rundgren created some the best rock operas in music history. Every song takes you on a journey and ties into the songs on the rest of the album. Steinman also wrote Holding out for Hero for Meatloaf but he was filming a movie and recorded it with Bonnie Tyler instead. It was the biggest hit of her career and has been used in numerous films over the years. Most famously used in the Shrek movie hero scene, which introduced it to a younger generation.
The song you're thinking of is actually Total Eclipse of the Heart. Steinman wrote and produced both songs for her, but Total Eclipse of the Heart was her biggest hit.
What he won't do is stated in the lines before he says "I won't do that". They are different for each chorus and are the following: Lie to you Forget the way you feel right now Forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight Do it better than I do it with you Stop dreaming of you every night of my life See that it's time to move on Be screwing around
The best of the best. Classically trained in theater and music. He never got the credit he deserved. This one is I'd do anything for you but betray you I will never do. All of his music in videos are a production and he wanted it that way. RIP my friend
Good observation ... He has a long list of acting credits going all the way back to Rocky Horror Picture Show. They say the line for what he won't do before each chorus: 1 - I'll never forget the way you feel right now 2 - I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight 3 - I'll never do it better than I do it with you 4 - I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life 5 - She sings - Then you'll see that it's time to move on 6 - She sings - Sooner or later you'll be screwing around R.I.P. Michael "Meatloaf " Aday .. Died January 20, 2022 - 74 years young
He won't cheat, lie, disrespect or stop thinking about and won't stop loving her...... what you hope would happen in every relationship....... also please look at the song TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD by Meatloaf.... even if you don't react it...... you will need a box tissues afterwards :)
Hey, ladies. Great reaction. Listen to it again for what he won’t do. There are a few times that he answers and it boils down to that he won’t leave or forget her. At the end of the song, she sings, “I know the territory, I’ve been around. It’ll all turn to dust and we’ll all fall down. Sooner or later you’ll be screwin’ around.” He answers, “I won’t do that.”
Everything Meatloaf did was a theatrical performance. He put 110‰ into it. Jim Steinman wrote most of his music which Steinman described his writing style as "Wagnerian Rock". Steinman's writing catalog is the background music for a lot of the 80's and 90's.
Hi Lovely Ladies, This was released in 1993 and is from his Bat out of Hell 2 album, this song shot straight to number one in 1993, as you ladies worked out, it's a Beauty and the Beast story, this is one of my favourite Meat Loaf songs, the album version runs for over 12 minutes, Great reaction to an absolute classic, Ladies!! 😀 😀 The "I Won't Do That" bit in my opinion is that he would never cheat on her!! 😀 😀 RIP, Meat 🙏🙏
In the song listen to the female vocal and you'll hear she says it will just be a Summer fling, and he says he won't do that. Then she sings soon you'll be screwing around and he sings he would do anything for love but he won't do that.
The actress in the video, Dana Patrick is lip singing Lorraine Crosby's vocals. The story behind Lorraine Crosby on how she she got the job was that the recording for I Would Do Anything For Love was to take place in the studio and the female vocalist that was hired didn't show up and Lorraine Crosby was in the studio making a record and they asked her to stand in and low and behold she did extremely well they used her take. And she didn't take any credit for it. And this became a MASSIVE HIT globally! 2x Platinum in Australia, Platinum in Germany, Platinum in the Netherlands, Platinum in New Zealand, Gold in Switzerland, Platinum in the UK and Platinum in the US!
During the verses he says what he will not do, ie lie to you, forget how I feel, do it better with anyone else, ect. He always prefaces it with “I’ll never”. All those statements together are collectively “that”.
What he will not do is ever lie to her or forget her. That is said in the song. He also says he will not mess around on her, cheat, or leave her. This is what I get from the lyrics, and video. If you like Meatloaf at all, 2 out of 3 Ain't Bad, is a must listen, and a great video. For many people it is his greatest song and performance. Of course it has it's own special twists, in a performance that only Meatloaf can do as well as he did it. There is a reason Meatloaf is a rock legend.
He and I shared a campfire many years ago. His wife's niece was marrying a local guy who was a roadie for another famous rock star, so they came to the wedding just outside of Port Matilda, PA(pop: 640). We sat outside at the fire up in the mountains while everyone else was inside drinking and smoking; something neither he nor I did....not anymore at least. He was this famous singer and I was a retired Navy "spook". We'd both travelled everywhere. and been in a lot of strange situations, so we traded stories for a couple of hours. I still have, and play, his music.
Meatloaf has a huge list of movies and tv series he has appeared in so, yep, acting was definitely in his makeup. "Objects in the rear View Mirror(May appear closer than they are) is another EPIC video. Great reaction again!
"I Would Do Anything For Love" went to #1 on the pop charts in 1993. It came from Meat Loaf's comeback album Bat Out Of Hell 2. After Meat Loaf's blockbuster debut album from the late 1970's, he went into a musical slump in the 1980's. His comeback in the early 1990's is one of the greatest in music history. While I enjoy the Bat Out Of Hell 2 album, I still feel that the original Bat Out Of Hell album is Meat Loaf's best. I'm glad you announced that the next Meat Loaf song you're going to react to is "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad". It is my favorite song of his and the first song that introduced me to his music in 1978. Baby Gap, I am so glad you're enjoying Meat Loaf's music. He's always been one of my many favorites.
You mention vampires. As it happens, Jim Steinman - Meat Loaf’s longtime songwriter, who wrote Anything - also wrote the epic Total Eclipse of the Heart for Bonnie Tyler, and according to a 1997 interview in Playbill that song was originally written as a “vampire love song” for a Nosferatu musical. So the musical genetics are there. On that note, you’d probably enjoy Eclipse.
This a generation gap reaction. Our young lovely lady on the right is swooning over a beautiful voice and promises, on the left we have mom who has heard it all before and wont believe it till she sees it.
Many people are confused by what he won't do & there are many theories. I have even listened to Meatloaf's opinion but they all are just whatever you want them to be. My personal opinion is the line: I'll never stop dreaming of you, That is what I believe he won't do?
Great reaction, ladies, to this marvellous performer. He was an amazing performer, and I know this because I saw him live in '78 on the "Bat Out Of Hell" tour and it was one of the most amazing concerts I have ever seen (including him doing somersaults on stage!). But most of his great songs, including the entire Bat Out Of Hell album and this song were written by the late great Jim Steinman, who also plays piano on these songs. "Bat Out Of Hell" and "For Crying Out Loud" are two songs you dare not miss!!!
There it is, the second part of the Meat Loaf journey. Meat Loaf is all about emotion and theatre. It was quite usual for him to invite great female voices as a counterpart to his own voice, so there's no wonder, we've seen this for a second time here. I myself enjoy rediscovering him now, thank you for that, ladies!
Great reaction!! 2 Out Of 3 Ain't Bad is a great choice for your next reaction, a word of caution though,... have a box of tissues close by!! Again, thank you for sharing your reaction!😀
Meatloaf was always very theatrical and Jim Steinman songs are very over the top. They were a magical combination. At the end of this song, the female character says “Sooner or later, you’ll be screwing around” and he replies “I won’t do that”. You’ll love listening to Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad or his big hit, Bat Out Of Hell are his classics. BTW, he made a great cameo as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The last line before his says “I won’t do that” is what he is referring to. When the woman says “Sooner or later you’ll be screw’n around” Meatloaf replies “No, I won’t do that”
a up to date Beauty and the Beast. He transforms when she accepts him. Gaston is the lead cop searching for them. His music resembles the overture style with the theme, the dance and the march, all similar but distinct sounding.
He certainly was an actor a much as a singer. He got his start acting in the "Rocky Horror Picture show" & even after his music fame waned, he continued acting in many tv shows & films. I recall seeing him as the "guest patient" in a good episode of House M.D for example. R.I.P. Meat.
Love this guy he is one of a kind. He's not talked about in the world of music nearly enough. Just a fantastic performer with fantastic vocals. So sad that he's not with us anymore. But his music will live on forever.
The genius of Jim Steinman.....'but I won't do THAT' ! It's a little tongue in cheek , a typical Steinman in-joke . He explains what he won't do as the song moves on. Meatloaf is acting out Steiman's fantasies . A brilliant performer , and actor, loved by millions. Even though his voice failed over the years , he gave absolutely everything on stage. They were a dream team. RIP Jim and Meat ❤️❤️
The concept of what "it" is, is that he won't hurt her, as the "it" get's broken down into different "it's", throughout the lyric's. You have to fully understand, and study the lyric's, to get all of the "it's", that basically combine into 1 "it", that which is, that he will never upset her, or harm her...
Ladies, watch it again. The thing he won’t do changes throughout. He always mentions something like “forget”, followed by “I won’t do that.” Particularly pay attention to the part with the woman singing. She says his love will grow cold. “I won’t do that.” She says he will cheat, “I won’t do that!”

It’s in the song. The lady sings “I have been down this road before. Eventually you will cheat” paraphrasing he replies “I won’t do that”
"2 out of 3 ain't bad" should be his next song. IMO his best
That whole album is awesome. I do love Bat out of Hell (the song) itself. Just another dramatic story.
Also need Hot Summer Night
For Crying Out Loud.
From Meatloaf’s own mouth,

You forgot a song. Meatloaf's " You took the words right out of my mouth"
I would mention "I´m Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us". So powerful vocals, and the band joining beautifuly...

No I won't do that!"
The english isn't my first language but in my opinion it means that the boy (a.k.a Meatloeaf) finally will be able to raise her up and help her down and he will help get her right out of this Godforsaken town and he will make it all a little less cold.
For example, “I’ll never do it better than I do it with you”
I won’t do that…..
I had the wonderful opportunity to see Meatloaf in concert and his live performances were so much more intense than his recordings.
Meatloaf could evoke such emotion in his powerful voice the world is an emptier place without him . RIP Meatloaf
Check out 'Nothing Sacred Anymore' & 'Rock and Roll Dreams Come True'
Meatloaf Rocks 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yeah, Steinman deserves to be recognized as well for these songs.
Meatloaf is a heldentenor. It’s one of the rarest opera vocal types.
One you definitely need to react to (the full album version though, not the radio edit single otherwise you will miss out on an epic intro) 😊
My favorite, I hope they react to it.
They said this is one of the best song video's of all time....he's a class act......Brilliant....He's a story teller
Lorraine Crosby, aka Mrs Loud, was the female vocalist in this video. Though you don't actually see her as her part is played by Dana Patrick, who mimes her lyrics. Lorraine gets to cover this song in her own shows, she also gets royalties from the original.
“I love his theatrics.”
Me: “Buckle up!”
Shades of Phantom of the Opera in this video.
When you combine the words and music of Jim Steinman with the talent of a great performer (such as Meat Loaf), the result is magical.
@@jasonmcnair5294the album midnight at the lost and found wasn't written by stienman
@@StevenJones-sw3lc Thank you for the info. We were talking about two songs written by Steinman for Bonnie Tyler.
You did say that Steinman wrote ALL of Meatloaf's songs. He did not
Meat Loaf + Jim Steinman = SENSATIONAL!
The only two words that can really describe his music rock opera
It isn't "his" music. Jim Steinman wrote the lyrics, not Meat Loaf.
What he won't do is stated in the lines before he says "I won't do that". They are different for each chorus and are the following:
Lie to you
Forget the way you feel right now
Forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
Do it better than I do it with you
Stop dreaming of you every night of my life
See that it's time to move on
Be screwing around
To answer your question, he will always love her and never screw around...
not the right answer
He also did appeared in The Rocky Horror picture Show.
The best of the best. Classically trained in theater and music. He never got the credit he deserved. This one is I'd do anything for you but betray you I will never do. All of his music in videos are a production and he wanted it that way. RIP my friend
she says 'sooner or later you'll be screwing around' and he says 'I won't do that'.
The thing he wouldn't do is the very last thing in the song. She thinks he would leave. He says I won't do that.
Good observation ... He has a long list of acting credits going all the way back to Rocky Horror Picture Show.
They say the line for what he won't do before each chorus:
1 - I'll never forget the way you feel right now
2 - I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
3 - I'll never do it better than I do it with you
4 - I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life
5 - She sings - Then you'll see that it's time to move on
6 - She sings - Sooner or later you'll be screwing around
R.I.P. Michael "Meatloaf " Aday .. Died January 20, 2022 - 74 years young
Near the end she said sooner or later you will be screwing around he said I wont do that!
The song "For Crying Out Loud" is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
the woman asks him questions and it turns out that he won't screw around on her and throughout the song he state what he won't do...like forget her
Meatloaf was always been great and now we lost him. RIP brother, we are all still listening to your great music.
Meat Loaf had a huge emotional presence in his voice, his quiet parts are large and his large parts are huge just like him. RIP 🙏
Sooner or later you’ll be screwin’ around.”
He answers, “I won’t do that.”
The "I Won't Do That" bit in my opinion is that he would never cheat on her!! 😀 😀
RIP, Meat 🙏🙏
In the song listen to the female vocal and you'll hear she says it will just be a Summer fling, and he says he won't do that. Then she sings soon you'll be screwing around and he sings he would do anything for love but he won't do that.
Wrong he explained it on an interview on tv
Mearloaf's range is absolutely incredible!!!!
Most under rated singer of all time, meat loaf gave it 100 every time
125%
He and I shared a campfire many years ago. His wife's niece was marrying a local guy who was a roadie for another famous rock star, so they came to the wedding just outside of Port Matilda, PA(pop: 640). We sat outside at the fire up in the mountains while everyone else was inside drinking and smoking; something neither he nor I did....not anymore at least. He was this famous singer and I was a retired Navy "spook". We'd both travelled everywhere. and been in a lot of strange situations, so we traded stories for a couple of hours. I still have, and play, his music.
This video was done by Michael Mann (Miami Vice) that's why it has the big 1980's type flashy production.
One of the best love songs ever ❤
The answer is always the verse before the line I would do anything for love but I won't do that.
It's a rock opera tribute to beauty and the beast.and like everything he ever did it's brilliant absolute genius.
Meatloaf has a huge list of movies and tv series he has appeared in so, yep, acting was definitely in his makeup. "Objects in the rear View Mirror(May appear closer than they are) is another EPIC video. Great reaction again!
Objects has some of the best lyrics and is beautifully sung.
Yes, I love that song!
For Crying Out Loud should DEFINITELY be your next Meatloaf adventure.
He won’t be “screwing around” while doing anything for love (with her).
"Bat Out of Hell" and "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" are some of his absolute best songs.
My personal opinion is the line:
I'll never stop dreaming of you, That is what I believe he won't do?
Great reaction, ladies, to this marvellous performer. He was an amazing performer, and I know this because I saw him live in '78 on the "Bat Out Of Hell" tour and it was one of the most amazing concerts I have ever seen (including him doing somersaults on stage!). But most of his great songs, including the entire Bat Out Of Hell album and this song were written by the late great Jim Steinman, who also plays piano on these songs. "Bat Out Of Hell" and "For Crying Out Loud" are two songs you dare not miss!!!
He does say in the opening, I'll never lie to you and that's a fact.
14:28 he told you at the end that what he won't do is screw around
Gone 1 year today RIP to a legend thank you meat for giving us these classics you will always be remembered
There it is, the second part of the Meat Loaf journey. Meat Loaf is all about emotion and theatre. It was quite usual for him to invite great female voices as a counterpart to his own voice, so there's no wonder, we've seen this for a second time here. I myself enjoy rediscovering him now, thank you for that, ladies!
yes I got I tell you it sucks that we lost meatloaf in the year of 2022 due to COVID-19 and I still miss him😢💔😢💔😢💔
Great reaction!!
Rock n Roll opera. Bat out of hell is my favorite Meatloaf song. The first one I heard as a kid and still my favorite.
Meatloaf is what I call theater rock like Queen and Styx they really put on a show!
One of the best songs ever made.
The last line before his says “I won’t do that” is what he is referring to.
When the woman says “Sooner or later you’ll be screw’n around”
Meatloaf replies “No, I won’t do that”
"I won't do that"
Everyone has that one thing that's the deal breaker. No matter how devoted or desperate they are.
His songs and videos are like mini rock-operas.
a up to date Beauty and the Beast.
R.I.P. Meat.
One thing u can say about meat is every time he gave everything he had to his performance
All Meatloaf's music are always big productions
Good timing. This is the one-year anniversary of his passing. RIP Meat!
Meat loaf played in over 100 movies/ tv shows he also had a role in an episode of Glee 🙂
Love this guy he is one of a kind. He's not talked about in the world of music nearly enough. Just a fantastic performer with fantastic vocals. So sad that he's not with us anymore. But his music will live on forever.
Bat Out Of Hell is a MUST. It is powerful and emotional and absolutely unforgettable. It is my favorite Meat Loaf song.
Meatloaf WAs epic in many ways.R.I.P.
The concept of what "it" is, is that he won't hurt her, as the "it" get's broken down into different "it's", throughout the lyric's. You have to fully understand, and study the lyric's, to get all of the "it's", that basically combine into 1 "it", that which is, that he will never upset her, or harm her...
Listen to her sing and on the third verse she sings ,he sings I won't do that
