  • The Supremes, the gloriously talented Jean Terrell, the fabulously beautiful and talented Mary Wilson, along with Lynda Lawrence sing and perform "Bad Weather" written and produced by the MAN!....Stevie Wonder (Ira Tucker Jr, co-writer) in this clip from
    April 19,1973.
There is some serious Supreme business going on here..........!!!
I love this song and the way Jean appears to just revel in the power of her own voice here. Superb performance on all counts!

Ira Tucker Wow, that’s great, in fact my good friend and I were in competition to see who could get the record first? That’s when we became disappointed with Motown management. Now, we both were young, about 13/14. There was very little airplay, and promotion of this record was like nonexistent? This was important to the millions of Supreme fans since they were nearing the end of this run? Thank you for sharing your connection...stay safe and be well. Alex from LA

@@alexanderirizarry-camarill6277 I was 16 when browsing through the TV Guide that night The Supremes were going to be a someone's tv special. All I can remember about the star is he was a legend and the show was very popular. I brought the 45 the next day every house I played it the people loved it. It should had been a hit. I was jamming it on a a very elite Magnavox console with 12" woofers and asked me "is that Stevie Wonder? I said "yes in a way he's the producer"

@@aaronharris6921 Happy New Year I was a baby when this song was released and the 1st time I heard was when I was an adult and I was blown way with the group's harmonies and the production. Motown should have promoted this song especially since Stevie Wonder had produced it. Even Stevie was pissed at the label for not promoting this song. I have a feeling that when he renegoitated his contract he probably made sure that Motown would promote songs he wrote and produced for his label mates.

Most young black people were not into The Supremes in the 70's. I used to lug Supremes 45s to parties and give LPs to friends just to give the girls exposure...and listen to NATHAN JONES every chance I got! The Supremes were very popular in discos in 1975/76 and YOU'RE MY DRIVING WHEEL greeted me as I stepped into a private house party one night. The DJ and I played their disco hit all night and the dancers loved it! Diana Ross, Mary Wilson & I will be 70 years young this year.

Yes I lost interest in the Supremes when Jean Terrell left as well...I loved Florence Ballard the most...I wished she could have developed a catalogue of leading songs with the Supremes.
The fact that Jean Terrell was the Ultimate Supreme in Voice style and security..she shared the.Leada with the other members.
That being said. I recently began listening to the other singers Lyndia Lawerance, Susanne Greene and I'm blown away.
These Singers had more talent in that group than all of the World. It's a shame that now time has fled...that there would be no true recognition for their exporsure of underdeveloped talent(s).
Well, at lest we do have the music and videos that they made.
      Rest together Flo & Mary!

Mary and the other ladies kept the group going unitl their farewell concert in London 1977. Without taking anything from Ross who was a uniquely talented artist I must admit that some of the greatest Supremes recordings came after her.

I think Bad Weather is my favorite tune from The Supremes. It should've been a huge hit for the ladies. This was a great performance from Mary, Jean and Lynda.
Loved the live vocals and choreography.

"...along with Lynda Lawrence?" I think we can do better for the lovely and talented Miss Lawrence. After all, it was her intervention that brought this fabulous song to the Supremes.

@stage7 she's no match for Jean.......AT ALL! Scherrie has big voice, even beautiful at times, but Jean Terrell has an instrument that is finely tuned and impeccable and beyond comarision! Jean sings so good she can make you cry! LOL!!!!!

It was number one in Washington, DC and I tried to get the program director of the Number One (Black) Radio Station in New York to play it and he lied and said the DJ's on the station played it but the NY audience "just didn't dig it! I checked with the other DJ's and only one of them said they had even known The Supremes had anything new out!

I think Motown grew indifferent to the revolving group of members the Supremes had by this time. So now, Cindy is suddenly gone and replaced by Lynda Laurence. I don['t think Motown felt compelled to push yet another new grouping of the Supremes. I know I was getting weary of the constant replacements. When I saw Lynda's picture on the front of the Floy Joy album my first reaction was WHO IS THAT WOMAN PRETENDING TO BE A SUPREME?!!! And then when Jean and Lynda left and were replaced by Scherrie and Susaye I just gave up on them thinking that they should just disband.

...well kids, you KNOW this was a club record when you hear the whistles in the end...after all, back in the day the only "accessories" we brought to the club were a tambourine and a whistle (and some flat shoes to wear home after dancing in 6" platform shoes all nite) Not like today when the accessory is a gun. Fantastic. The Supremes will leave a lasting legacy of their own music for us all. Another icon gone Mary Wilson and now only Diana Ross left of the original group. I hope though we can have some reissue of the Supremes music of the seventies line up its long overdue.

I think Motown did not even know who the Supremes were by this time..nor did the general public with so many girls coming in and out of the group.. When Bad Weather was released Cindy had just gone and now Lynda suddenly appears on an album cover. How can you be loyal to a group that can't seem to retain its members. @@DetroitLives313
