Yeah she killed those lines and you can hear all three voices equallly. To me that is the "Supremes" sound, hearing all three voices. I never liked the sound of Diana Ross' voice being turned up over theirs. The early 60s songs had the "sound" and then they got it back in the 70s.
I don't know about that. The TAMI show version is soooo epic. They sounded great and the choreography was awesome. But really there are no wrong answers. Loll
Yes, absolutely. It was really good. Their performances on Hullabaloo are among the best, as are their performance on The Sammy Davis Show. Sammy was especially fond of Florence; she reminded him of Pearl Bailey. So, the mics were turned up for all three women. "My World Is Empty Without You" never sounded better, and the medley they did with the Andrews Sisters was especially good as he had Florence in the middle and her voice really propelled the group. Shit gets real bout 5:25 when Let Me Go The Right Way kicks in, Mary n Flo's background is just soaring and beautiful. I never understood y Diana was always placed so far from them even in 1964?
If you will notice the performances of most vocal groups, past and present, the lead singer is often positioned a little away from the other group members. Diana was "not always" placed far from them (I'll admit this is far in this particular performance, however). I've seen most of their performances on UA-cam, and I can't think of many where Diana is "far" away. I guess it depends on one's definition of "far."
So that Flo and Mary can stay in harmony and Diana can hear herself sing. They are closer together when they all sing in harmony usually with Diana in the center.
Mary and Florence were just back up singers, Berry could have gotten a couple of girls from any group at Motown, and it still would have been Diana Ross and the Supremes

The christmas album is great. I liked "Born Of Mary" it has a feeling if you are watching a movie dipicting the birth of Christ. The "Children Christmas Song", is a great song too. I started singing it when I was little at my school christmas party. I became our theme song every christmas. "My Little Christmas Tree" is a very sentimental to me.

Awesome to see this film from 64. Just when the rollercoaster ride was beginning. Interesting to hear the girls sing live with a backing track. Still puzzled that they performed every hit at some point on TV apart from I'm Gonna Make You Love Me with the Temps. Why was it not on the TCB Special? Not even their appearance with Temps on Ed Sullivan.
Because the TCB special was basically a launching pad for Miss Ross's solo career. Mary stated that there was one great number between the Temps and the Supremes on the TCB special that was cut to make room for Miss Ross's solo numbers.

Shit gets real bout 5:25 when Let Me Go The Right Way kicks in, Mary n Flo's background is just soaring and beautiful. I never understood y Diana was always placed so far from them even in 1964?
Michael B On the concerts their were placed closer, but I think in this particular ocasion they were placed so far because the stage was too big
''back up'' singers. she was the lead.
Well tell Diana that... She knows how to dance but she always doubted her skills
So that Flo and Mary can stay in harmony and Diana can hear herself sing. They are closer together when they all sing in harmony usually with Diana in the center.
This is cracking me up. Flo's and Mary's choreography is just precious. I have enjoyed this so much .. !! Thank you for sharing .. !!
I'm glad you like it! You're Welcome! :)
+LaDenverDiva Amen, sister! And Mary also looks lie Helen Shapiro (that "cat eye" makeup) in this performance.
Mary and Florence were just back up singers, Berry could have gotten a couple of girls from any group at Motown, and it still would have been Diana Ross and the Supremes
It is all perception.
No, I really don't think so... They were the first American group to make individual memebers household names.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've fallen in love with Florence in this video and Diana too, this is the most beautiful I've ever seen Diana looking. Thanks for this, The Supremes are my remedy tonight for my headache :)
Diana looks the prettiest here. Yes, she does look good here. Flo looks pretty too and is glowing.
The Supremes looked beautiful & performed beautifully too! No one knew they were on the 'cusp' of becoming the # one girl group in the history of recorded music...Replacing the 'Andrew sisters' for the first time...Diana to superstardem...
I’ve fallen in love with Diana 😍 they’re a wonderfully talented trio... wish I could of been around to see them live in the 60’S
I think this is the best video to see!! You can see Mary and Flo and hear them too!! I Love and truly will miss both SIP Florence (Blondie) and Mary 🕊️💕. Singing in Heaven together again.❤️
Best female group EVER!!!
Those dance moves are so graceful
Love this performance
You have got to love how in sync Mary and Florence are during live performances … I know it probably was very well intended to be that way but their syncopation is superbly unmatched.
I agree 💯 Ryan RIP Blondie and Mary SIP 💕
Classic Great vocals.
Thanks for posting one of the very best Supremes videos! How great to be able to hear all 3 of them singing.....pure magic!
Incredible footage
The Supremes paved the way for groups like Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge and other R&B groups
I agree with you the Supremes led the way for all girl groups even today as we speak b
Mary and Flo are killing those background vocals, they harmonies are tight and their voices are strong and beautiful blended ....its such a shamed they were robbed
Robbed? Of what? You shouldn't make insinuating comments if you don't know what you are talking about!
@@brkitdwn I know EXACTLY what Im talking about, WTF are you talking about??? They were robbed of singing leads!, they were robbed of promotion after Berry's whore Diana left the group, each girl was robbed of getting promotion for their solo career after being promised by Motown, That's What Im Talking About!
Thanks Tim Harris. and so sad what happened to Blondie etc...
@@brkitdwn I know exactly what Im talking about Technical Fool!, and dont come for me unless I send for you
@@james28if Yes it really is James
Mary looked so pretty and such a good dancer.
Youth is wonderful
I was 8yrs old when i 1st heard this song loved it then still loving it 55yrs later
Loved them all my life
Never seen Flo so happy
She was probably never happier. Just think--this concert took place just after their first two hits reached #1. All three of them must have been giddy with excitement over their newfound international fame, and it all took place before all the drama that came a couple of years later.
D I A N A delivers! Blown away...flawless vocal performance here. From top to bottom. Must be frustrating bring a hater of hers...she owned this medley.
Mary Wilson was the Best looking Supreme!
Simply the best!
Thanks for the upload. This is priceless.
They took glamour and glitter, music was the platform, made it everyone's. And gave America the opportunity to larger than life. We could feel it. We could hear it. We could sing it too.
Flo an Mary are breath taking......so fine
Flor & Mary slaaayyy ❤
Flo and Mary are great back up singers , good job ladies.
I never saw this. This is awesome.
I guarantee anyone if Flo had the best producer and Motown take a chance to be a solo artist. She would been awesome. Trust me. Berry Gordy didn't want that
@Rich Boy Ant: After her general release from Motown, she was, she was (as David Ruffin was) offered a solo contract, which she refused.
@Rich Boy Ant: Too many "she was" phrases...Miss Ballard was offered a solo contract, which she refused.
Too nice !!
Perfection!
I love these versions.
Florence... she was EVERYTHING here!
Flo is everyone's favorite.
So Sweet!!
thanks!
soo cute!
Love the choreography.

Gm edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you are in love with someone that has moved on this is a lesson to be learned welcome to the real world linda j.peace pay attention to what you want for your life ☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
MORE HITS BY THE SUPREMES ! LOVE THEM !
WOW!!! listen to Florence @7:18 woooo..oooo .....then smiles!!!
Love this!!!!!!!!!!
R.i.P Mary and flo
Flo and Mary done great as back up singers
FLO AN MARY FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!!
Rest in Peace dear Mary ✝️✝️✝️
Mary is going to make SURE we hear her ❤️😆❤️
@Donnell Woolard: She ALWAYS DID.
Amazing… my birth year too!
Mary looks adorable here.
MARY WAS BY FAR THE PRETTIEST.
Damn...i didn't realize how far away they put the mary and flow. I have never seen any other girl group do this.
