    O.MG! Jean nailed this! Jean was pure voice, she didn't need vocal flim-plam to sound good. This woman is sounding this fantastic without breaking a sweat. A true singer.

    My favourite Supremes single, just right for early seventies. Shame it wasn’t a hit as we might have got an album of this funkier sound.

    Song is amazing on so many levels. I must admit the drum beat and the horns are more reminiscent of an Al Green - Hi Records production. Had no idea Stevie produced this. Also, Seemed as if Motown was on the precipice of disco before it’s time as this track and some of Eddie Kendricks’ tunes which were released a couple of years prior to the official beginning of disco circa 1975

      SWEETIE PIE: I did find an original 45 rpm version of this song in a basement record store in NYC around 1973. It was being sold amongst boxes and boxes of old 45's for 50 cents each.

    The Supremes were on their way out. . . . "The song peaked at number 87 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 74 on the R&B singles chart. However it was a different story outside the United States: "Bad Weather" was extensively played on Radio Europa, it peaked at the Top 40 of the UK singles chart at number 37, while in places like Puerto Rico it became a huge hit in discothèques and went up to number 1 in radio charts."

    You cannot tell me The Supremes are not singing live here or that The Supremes did not enjoy singing this song - they seem to be having too much fun and you can hear, especially Jean and Lynda hit some notes that were not on the record! This is especially rare for Don Cornelius and Soul Train (having an artist sing live instead of lyp-synch) but, then again, Don seemed to be so infatuated with Mary Wilson, he broke all the rules for The Supremes and danced with Mary, Jean and Lynda on the Soul Train line!

    • @tubeyouuser
      @tubeyouuser 2 роки тому +2

      The Supremes performed four songs on this episode of Soul Train. They lip-synched to Stoned Love and Floy Joy and sang I Guess I’ll Miss The Man and Bad Weather live to tracks.

      And when things were going to get better --- when Lynda and Mary took the microphones and walked up front -- the song was finished! A shame, because that action meant TCB!!! I also think the director of cameras was fascinated with the trio, because there are almost no shots of the dancing crowd.
