My best friend is muslim. I'm Buddhist and we met kindergarten class in a Presbyterian school. That was mnay decades ago. We are still friends until today. ❤

Aside from enjoying the interaction between Mayaan and best friend, Saskia, I was super impressed with Mon's role in this video, like making sure the kids were comfortable, giving Mayaan the space to be with her friend. He's truly a champ.

I got a pen pal from Germany by the name Doris Seybold when I was 14 years old. We corresponded for awhile then both got busy with work and career. 17 years later, my wife and I was in Western Europe for our honeymoon and we were in Germany and we managed to trace her phone number with the help of the hotel staff and Germany’s telecom. We talked on the line for few minutes. We were both super excited as we spoke for the 1st time ever. I can hear she telling her husband Wolfgang that my childhood pen pal from Malaysia called. It was unbelievable. It was very emotional. It was truly special. We didn’t get to meet though 😢 Now another 30 years have passed…. time flies….. this episode will always be in my heart…. Hope Doris Seybold read this and maybe we can meet for the 1st time. God bless everyone ❤

I have a 41 year friendship with a woman I first met thru a penpal club in high school. We lived 2,500 miles apart. We didn't meet in person until 10 years after we started writing. She actually married one of her penpal friends 20 years after they started writing each other.

Mayaan, what an amazing story of deep friendship! Like you I met Sabine (from Germany) through friends of friends whilst I was travelling through Europe when I was 18 years old (now aged 63). It was a very special bond and a deep friendship was formed. Through the years, we met up many times and explored the world together (Europe, Scandinavia, USA, Turkey, Japan, Singapore (where I am from) etc. We shared many special moments, discovering new places and adventures. Those are precious memories. Today, we still keep in touch eventhough we live thousands of miles apart (she in USA and I in Singapore).
It's nice to know that in this ever changing world, true friendship still exist regardless of race, language or religion.
I am glad Mayaan you found yours. Yes, it's good to have some girl time to yourself!

Zo leuk verhaal! Was like this with my wife and myself; she was coming from Belgium (french) .We also spoken english for 1 year and she decided to go working, without knowing the language/culture.. Amazing she was and so brave. So proud of her; she is always pushing me to try everything and to be out of my comfort zone. Nothing is too difficult if we want and try.

It's hard watching the kids reaction to you going. But we all do diff things in life..
We're always together so the kids are not used to be without one of us, but they survived (and even had great time with daddy) and I got to spend amazing time in bangkok and also make beautiful content for you guys! Coming soon!

Very familiar! My primary school best friend stayed in our hometown and had her first baby at 22 - I went and lived in different countries and we had a period of less contact. When I went back to England to have my first child at 32, she was my birth partner ❤

Monterey is a wonderful place. I agree: it's not easy maintaining a close friendship for so many years from a great distance. I lost many precious friendships b/c of moving away. It's hard to stay connected across the miles.
