Tripe is the stomach, not the intestines... those are further down. As a white American woman, I'd tell other Westerners to not knock it before they try it. Both tripe AND intestines are tasty. I really like the softer varieties of tripe in either a ginger garlic sauce, spicy sauce, or black bean sauce. You really can't go wrong. The texture can be a little odd if you aren't used to it, but the flavor is amazing.
It's kind of like if you took the mushy peas from an English fish and chips shop, strained it through a fine mesh, shaped it into cube and let it congeal over night in fridge. Yeah, not a fan either lol.

Don't worry Amy, for not liking 豆黃,the Empress Dowager was not a good person! (My great grandfather was the mayor of a town in China but joined the revolution that ended the monarchy system in China)
打卤面 isn't always cold fried noodles, they’re boiled noodles like regular noodles. And the sauce is what makes them 打卤-its a glutinous sauce with 木耳 and bamboo shoot and other stuff. Really delicious. The same noodles can be served w a black-brown sauce and pork chunks and it’s 杂酱面 which is where korean jajangmian comes from, basically the same product. Or at my house we do it with sliced cucumber and boiled cabbage & soybeans w balsamic vinegar for that beautiful color (i guess that’s the american in me haha but rice vinegar would work for a similar flavor) and you can have garlic smashed and pour vinegar into it, and then dip your noodles in that as well. Or some mix of all three. Very delicious. I think the translation you have is a bit misleading though!
As someone who grew up in Beijing and had been going to school right next to 护国寺 for 12 years😂😂 thank you for this video. It’s making me so nostalgic! I miss there so much!! But I do not approve the comment on 豌豆黄!I love it!!! 好想回家!!
That camera would greatly simplify life for many food UA-camrs. You cut off a few heads with it, but that will improve with familiarity. It seems so honest to admit to not liking some foods.
Well, can't wait for your adventure of the world famous Beijing Duck. Hope to see that in your next content. It may sound cliche to have Beijing Duck but I am sure when you are Beijing, it's by default to have that. Maybe you can do it in a way to find a few different restaurants with different style to present it, cook it and eat it. Oh, one more thing.......your laughter is very adorable!
the guy sitting opposite was having 打卤面, a typical Beijing style type of noodle dish, which is served with thick gravy on top.it's more like how you eat pasta, not some kind of cold noodle 打冷面。
You have a very strong stomach 😂... I remember you taking the intestine, miancha and earlier on some bean cake or something... yet I don't ever seeing you running to the WC.

Excuse me, but no : *loving a culture only aesthetically* , but without romantic interest *is inhumane and objectifying.* As a Vietnamese guy who loves French, Russian, and North African cultures, it is also because I love the women as well. *Neither what the woman in the restaurant said or did was wrong, and you know that, and somehow it made you uncomfortable.*
To be frank, whenever I befriend people who are different from me, I go straight to the women first and expect the men to "hook me up", or I straight up ditch them.

"They are very excellent" someone's Nana is trying to advertise them lol
豌豆黄 is the first traditional Chinese dessert I tried to make when I study in Australia, very simple and very easy.
Love your channel so much ~ from Canada 🇨🇦❤️
Do you have any experience with watching Chinese dramas? (Historical or modern)
Welcome back to Beijing Amy!
Isn't 豌豆黄 just an pea variation of Hummus? Have been in Beijing for 10 years, only tried it once, not a big fan of 豌豆黄 either.
Does taste like Hummus...
It's kind of like if you took the mushy peas from an English fish and chips shop, strained it through a fine mesh, shaped it into cube and let it congeal over night in fridge. Yeah, not a fan either lol.
I love hummus with garlic n olive oil. Eat it with pita bread or naan, yummy!
exactly
I like wandouhuang so much! It's pretty fresh and soft and beany lol, probably my favo Beijing snacks. Thank you for showing us Hutong in Beijing, I feel like I go back there with your camera!
man the technology just keeps getting better and better. But also there goes our privacy 💀 cameras gonna be the size of a marble and still be HD quality one day
I think we will keep the mask
Privacy this privacy that, like what are you trying to hide if you intend to expose yourself publicly on the streets. Everyone has the right to see whatever is shown in public. Why are these privacy Andys so concerned about that, as if they were filmed by a hidden camera up skirt when they went to a public toilet.
@@窃·格瓦拉 I agree. If you are in a public place, don't complain if others are filming. If you don't want to be in their film, politely ask them to edit you out. Not hard.
Awesome video as usual Blondie. I haven’t been to Beijing for about 9 years now but I’m keen to try Guotie next time! I must say you are very adventurous trying so many different types of food! You should get your parents to come over and try food with you. They’re a hoot! 😂 Thanks for sharing!
Don't worry Amy, for not liking 豆黃,the Empress Dowager was not a good person! (My great grandfather was the mayor of a town in China but joined the revolution that ended the monarchy system in China)
非得汇报一下政治
艾米真的可爱哈哈,谷歌里面茶的吃法完全是整蛊😏,艾米竟然照做了哈哈😄。而我当初告诉一个外国朋友,吃炸酱面必须把碗舔干净后再来一碗面汤😄
So glad you liked Baodur. Most of traveller don't like it even for local.
only in China…LOL😂
As someone who grew up in Beijing and had been going to school right next to 护国寺 for 12 years😂😂 thank you for this video. It’s making me so nostalgic! I miss there so much!! But I do not approve the comment on 豌豆黄!I love it!!!
好想回家!!
That camera would greatly simplify life for many food UA-camrs. You cut off a few heads with it, but that will improve with familiarity. It seems so honest to admit to not liking some foods.
Amy I love your channel, your videos are so down to earth and informative. Hope you will explore the Xi An city someday.
Love from a fan in Malaysia
Xi An is a city in the province of ShanXi.
@@tingwang9465 thanks for the kind info.
Scott Morrison needs your help to solve the trade issue with China as you appears to be the only Australian having positive view on China.
No worries, Scott and his team have found the way to trade with US and India...But, wait and see...
不好意思大家,我是amy的男友
the guy sitting opposite was having 打卤面, a typical Beijing style type of noodle dish, which is served with thick gravy on top.it's more like how you eat pasta, not some kind of cold noodle 打冷面。
You have a very strong stomach 😂... I remember you taking the intestine, miancha and earlier on some bean cake or something... yet I don't ever seeing you running to the WC.
Haha they’re all safe to eat! So no problem :) Only dairy makes me run to the WC 😂😂
Oh..I am a big fan of u. And I am also a memeber of Insta360. So happy that you like our product
this must be the least enjoyable food adventure so far lol
Thanks for sharing the tech you use damn cool
I am embarrassed by that old lady when she said “why don’t you date Chinese? They are excellent” What a 老糊涂,
Love the culture doesn’t mean have to date the people. And saying yourselves excellent to the foreigner is not the Chinese way.
你也太卑微了吧?
@@isabellatran3222 you show it to others instead of running your mouth
@@isabellatran3222 做人得谦卑,不是卑微!不是总吹自己好!
@Wild, I agree with you, I am embarrassed too. Two issues here. Firstly, 大妈made it like Chinese man couldn’t find a wife or too desperate for a wife. Secondly over bragged the superiority of Chinese men. Please, no one ethnic man is superior to another.
Excuse me, but no : *loving a culture only aesthetically* , but without romantic interest *is inhumane and objectifying.*
As a Vietnamese guy who loves French, Russian, and North African cultures, it is also because I love the women as well. *Neither what the woman in the restaurant said or did was wrong, and you know that, and somehow it made you uncomfortable.*
To be frank, whenever I befriend people who are different from me, I go straight to the women first and expect the men to "hook me up", or I straight up ditch them.
I am so delighted thanks for sharing
Come on, Wan Dou Huang is still way better than Vegemite at the first bite :)
Nooooo!! Lollll I’d prefer a slice of toast with vegemite over wan dou huang 😄😄😄
Great vid, Amy!
You know the quality of the cinematography is crazy.
Huguosi is a street full of memory for me. It literally where I grew up and spent most of my childhood at. There was a place for baodur right across the street from huguosi snack but closed down a couple years ago when I left China to US for schools. Before it went out of business, my family usually go together a couple times a year. I never appreciated the cooking there before knowing it was gone. In my opinion It is one of the best restaurant for Baodur in Beijing based on my sentimental judgement.
