I went to DALIAN!
Dalian, in Liaoning province north-east China is a city that needs to be seen to be believed.

Nico, have to admit after following you two for ages, I’ve been hooked on your pronunciation of any word containing a T…. You hardly ever pronounce the T and I have to smile. And, today I find Jack saying city without the T…. Lol, now on top of enjoying your vlogs, I’m searching for the lost T’s. Love it. Keep the content coming and, am I the only follower with this obsession?
No you are not the only person, I’m her dad and I always smile when she says ciee instead of city
Hahaha You will never find the lost T's! Jack is from Nottingham and it is pronounced Noh-num locally as they don't say the T's haha Pleased you enjoy it we try to tone down our accents when filming but sometimes you just can't help it haha
I used to live here for 6 years as a medical student , and I can tell you this city is amazing

Now I see so many western people moving to china, I also going moving back to china. Living in US for 34 years and 3 years in china. Love there so much, going to open a fine dining restaurant there.

I lived in Dalian for a year and taught English at Dalian Vocational and Technical College. One of the best years of my life. The downtown is amazing and yes, the streets sings are in Russian.

I agree with what you said about some architectures. Recommend historical cities like Xi'an, Nanjing, etc. and you will see the difference. I've never been to Xi'an and hope one day I can go have a look at the ancient palace, statues, and more. Also, the food...

Dalian looked too European to me! Perhaps you should visit the old part of the city where ordinary Chinese live and work!
This must be the old city, I am not from Dalian, but I am almost certain of it. Those Russian-style buildings are old buildings that can only be found in the old town. New developments are often filled with skyscrapers and don't have the cosy feel of the old town. It's very similar to my city. At the beginning of the video, the blogger quickly shows the street view of the area, and while they buy an omelet, you can also see the street view, that is, the life of the old town.

I can't change the weather unfortunately. As a Brit I can still enjoy places in the rain it didn't feel depressing to me at all.
The streets are as clean as your living room.

那个不是“鸡蛋灌饼”。真正的鸡蛋灌饼是把半熟的饼子从中间用筷子掏一个洞，然后活生生得“扒”出一个小兜子，再打一个鸡蛋搅好后灌进去，这才是名字叫鸡蛋【灌】饼的原因。视频里那个女做的是一个四不像，做法类似山东煎饼果子。鸡蛋灌饼虽不是大连特色，但是在2000年左右时，在大连很流行，现在可能已经找不到了。那个女的估计是东北过来的吧？（没错，大连人一般不把自己称作东北人）大连人不可能把那个东西叫鸡蛋灌饼。一提到东北人我就忍不住要多嘴了，大连在2000年以前，各地外地人很多的，河南菜馆是河南人开的，尖沙嘴千日贺是广东人做，川菜是四川人做，湖南菜是湖南人做（我以前的邻居就是湖南人）。现在都TM的叫东北人给占领了，全是东北菜。就算有其他的料理店，也TM都是东北风味的外地菜。真TM个样人。

Although I'm from Dalian myself, I have to say that Dalian is a Europe-wannabe. It's much less interesting than places north of it, at least those places aren't trying hard to look like 'the west'.

Egg pie cake 鸡蛋灌饼 😂There are no specific English words, but eggs, cakes, shredded potatoes and some sauces.
I loved Dalian. The history of the place is amazing, but also sad. When the Japanese took over they did a massacre on a huge scale. Also the Russian Prison was used by them during the war. When the end of the war was announced they executed all their prisoners. The Russian War Cemetery is huge with over 5000 burials from when the city was liberated. Maintained beautifully my taxi driver said he had never taken anyone there. Am l Russian hw asked? I'm Australian l said and he couldn't understand why l wanted to go. Did you see the huge hilltop monument the Japanese erected. I asked our guide what not remove it due to the horrors committed. She said they want people to remember what the Japanese did to the people. Thsnks for the video.
